Mail doesn't accept my yahoo e-mail account

My problem: since Lion I'm really happy that I can use my Yahoo mail account in the official Mail app. It works also fine, but a fiew weeks ago suddenly mail stoped loading mails. I logd out in in the settings of Mail and reloged in but now I've the problem that Mail doesn't accept my datas... anyone who knows something?

What does the Connection Doctor diagnostic tool report?
Mail.app > Window > Connection Doctor
Confirm with the Yahoo set-up that your POP or IMAP mail settings are correct for their current recommendations, as well. And IMAP is preferable to POP, if you have the option of using either of those with Yahoo.

Problems with Mail Account

Since a few days I use Mail for my web.de account.
I tiped in my password and all the other stuff correctly, after the instructions of the web.de sever.
Now I liked to check my mails on Apple Mail and it asks me for the password.
So I tipe in my regular password, but it says the pop server pop3.web.de doesn't accept the password for the account xxx, although it is correct!

Just chiming in; I don't have a .Mac account, and have been suddenly experiencing odd behavior from Mail.app. Today I had the problem where the app "forgot" all my account passwords and kept throwing up the entry box over and over. Finally had to delete my Keychain files and start over--tried it three times--before things calmed down... and one of my email accounts never did go back to normal.
Why would this suddenly happen, especially if I've never used .Mac? My incoming mail comes through the server my personal website is hosted on, my outgoing mail goes via Comcast... and I've never had any trouble with Mail.app before today.

E-mail looses all images if mail server doesn't accept outgoing email...

I open some web page in Safari, press Command+i, new email message is created and all web page content is inserted in the email message, including all images. Nice! I enter email address and send email.
If for some reason outgling mailserver doesn't accept my outgoing email, the same email is shown again to let me choose another outgoing mail server.
BUT - at this time all images in the email body are gone! Instead of the images I see blue rectangles with the white question marks on them. And if I proceed and send such email via another email server, recipients get email from me without pictures embedded in the email.
Can Apple fix this bug? It's really annoying, because quite often outgoing mail server of my ISP is not accepting my outgoing emails and I cannot resend email through another mail server, because images are already lost - I have to delete email, switch back to Safari, again Command+i, again enter email address and then change email account and then try to send again...

Mail continually asks for Password, Safari doesn't accept

I update today to Safari Version 5.0.2 (5533.18.5). After I did this I have not been able to access my university e-mail either through Mail or a web based access in Safari. Mail continually asks for my password, and Safari doesn't accept it. All my mail settings are correct. Firefox will not allow me to access e-mail through the web either.
I am desperate, can someone help me?

Mail Application doesn't keep data of my Yahoo mail account

Hello! I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro running OS Lion (10.7.3) and in the last two weeks I face the following problem with the Mail application and my Yahoo mail account: although the account appears in the side bar of the application and it will search for new messages when I launch the Mail app, it doesn't load any messages and I also realised that all Mailboxes of the named account are blank! The messages appear normally when I reach my account through the Yahoo page! I tried to remove and re-import the account in the Mail app, but it just worked for two days and now the Mailboxes are blank again! I have no problems with the other two mail accounts I reach through the same application (both POP accounts). Any possible solution?

What I would like to add is that the problem only appeared last week, without doing anything ... I have had no such problems since September I got the computer ...

I suspect that you are using the Forwarding option within Workgroup Manager, and this works outside of the postfix alias scheme. I think you should just set those users you are forwarding to, to normal mail users, and put their forwarding rules ALSO in the alias file, so you would have:
MAILER-DAEMON: postmaster
postmaster: alex,yong
alex: [email protected]
That should do it. You really have to commit to either using Workgroup Manager or Postfix in their entirety. They don't really work too nicely in conjunction with each other.

Yahoo mail doesn't "sync" anymore with your online account?

I've read reports that people who have a Yahoo mail business account since upgrading to 3.0 on the iPhone can't get their accounts to sync with their online yahoo accounts anymore? Meaning if you send mail from the phone it won't show up in your sent folder if you access mail from your computer, etc? Is this only related to yahoo business mail or any mail account in general now? If so I'm not upgrading to 3.0, I like being able to access all my folders and everything from my phone, just as if I was using my computer. Actually if this is the case I might get rid of my phone period, this was one of the main reasons why I got this phone because it worked with mail just like my computer did.
Any input on this?

I also have a business account from Yahoo and I can't send messages. I am able to recieve but can't send out. It does the sound like it goes out but it goes no where. I contacted able and they are good for nothing. I contacted Yahoo business and they told me the problem. According to Yahoo Business when Apple came out with the new update they forgot to format something that has to do with business account since it's a diffrent server than the free yahoo. They told me Apple was working with Yahoo to try and get this problem resolved but nothing yet. For anyone who has Yahoo, I found it easy just to have my business emails forward to my Free yahoo email account. This way I get my email and can still send emails out. The only down fall is that your emails when replaying will show your regular email address not your business. If anyone knows how to get this problem fIxed please let us know.

G-mail doesn't accept my 5.1.10 version of Safari. Will a newer version allow me to transfer my address book contacts to g-mail?

Need Help Setting Up Chattermail with AT&T Yahoo Mail Account

Ok... so I've spent half the day trying every possible permutation of my login, server name etc and I STILL can't get Chattermail to successfully log in.
This is a paid Yahoo mail account. The servers I succesfully use for my older 700w were: incoming: pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com, outgoing: smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
I'm confused by the set up in chattermail. It doesn't have the servers marked as "outgoing" and "incoming" I've put the incoming server name in the "define" tab and the outgoing in the "smtp" tab.
I've tried both my entire email address and just the part before the "@" as my login. I also have the ssl boxes checked because my system seems to be using those.
I cannot get it to work. Does anyone have any ideas?

When it doesn't accept the password from Mail , it can be things other than the password actually.
It could be their Server, which is contacted differently than through WebMail, it just means the Server listening on this port, (or not listening), is not finding your username & password.

Keeping my BT Yahoo Premium Mail Account, I am hav...

I cancelled my BT Broadband Option 3 subscription around Nov 20th 2011 and I discovered on the internet that my BT Yahoo Premium mail would be terminated 90 days after my BT Broadband was cancelled, I've had my bt email account for around 10 years so I don't want to lose it.
I've been running around in circles trying to get the £1.54 monthly charge setup so that I can keep my exisiting BT Yahoo email account all have lead to a dead end .. could you please help me .....
Here are some problems listed below that I've encountered:-
1) I navigate to the following BT website link where it advertises to 'keep my email' account for bt yahoo premium for £1.54 / month, I enter my email account and it states "there is a problem with the status of your account" and doesn't allow me to progress further with the upgrade. 3) I was advised by a BT operator to contact the BT Yaho premium mail team on the phone (I have a BT phone landline btw) and I called 0808 100 6778 Option 2 (email) Option (1 Change email) on a Sunday at 11am and all I got was the following message then the line cut off, the team should have been there as the message stated but the help service team was not available which is perplexing .. here is the message is this service dead ?
"Welcome to BT our advisors are available from 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 6:30pm Saturday to Sunday"

I remember calling the yahoo premium email team around the 20th Nov 2011 (about a month ago) and they told me that I would receive an email warning me that my BT Yahoo email account would be cancelled in 90 days with an option to upgrade to premium... this email has not been received (I even checked bt yahoo spam folder) hence why I am getting worried about not being able to renew my BT Yahoo Email Account.
4) I called up other BT Broadband and technical numbers but they can detect from my BT landline that I no longer have BT Broadband so those numbers are not availale to me for help.
In summary it seems that you do have a service to upgrade to BT Yahoo Premium Email for BT users who have left BT Broadband but it is EXTREMELY difficualy to obtain to customers who are willing to pay for this service. Can anyone out there please help me. If I lose the email account it is a very serious matter to me as I have had it around 10+ years.

The tip (as stated above) about phoning the number above worked well.
I was told by the support person there is a 90 day grace period after the end of the BT Broadband and an email will come through on about day 86. The guy on the phone said ring the same number again then to upgrade to subscribe to the service.
If there is a department in BT that looks at things that don't work on their website it might be worth fixing this.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...

Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ may or may not exist.

I cannot delete mail and my 'sent' box is empty. I can access Yahoo mail via the web but would like to continue using Mail. What setting should I use (my son had a look at the problem and may have altered some specs). Connection Doctor indicates I am connected OK. Any suggestions?

well, everything appears to have resolved itself. Let me put this down in case it is of use to other iphone/gmail types.
1. apparently I must have had either a lot of different computers/devices accessing gmail at the same time and it locked me out. As sailman says above, what precisely is locked out is a mystery, but in my case it was my pc/outlook, my apple mail 4.1 and my iphone. Web access worked fine
2. when i ran the https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha command I had to do it on both my pc and my mac and eventually they came back up. The iphone was last, and took at least 24hours
3. one thing that google doesn't communicate well is that you can sync your contacts and calendar by setting the iphone up via an exchange account, i.e. http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138740 . Then you need to set up mail separately by adding it as an "other" type of account - i.e http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=77702

I still don't understand what the problem that you are experiencing is. If you get to a page where yahoo is asking JUST for your password, and there is no box for username (it may have your username displayed, but not in a enter box), then you ARE "being kept signed in" You can verify this by instead of entering your password, go to www.yahoo.com home page, and it will say something like "Hi, Amber" This means you ARE signed in.
When you get that page asking for just your password, you are NOT being asked to sign in again. You are simply being asked to verify/enter your assword an Nth time. If you get that page right after entering your username and password, try clicking the "back" (previous page) button. It might just go to your inbox.
If this is the case, your problem has nothing to do with being kept signed in or not, the problem is that for some (unknown to me) reason, yahoo is asking you to re-enter your password, kind of like when your mac asks for your mac password when changing system settings. Yahoo does this as a safety feature when you go to account settings, and apparently abritary other times. I wish I understood just why I get it every time after signing in.
It could be because I have java turned off. It could be because I don't accept third party cookies. Maybe a cache file. Or a hundred other things... I don't know. It could simply be yahoo is scrooing safari users. I have glanced at the html, but to really understand it, it would take me days. There are over 25 places where username and password are in the html "source" code of the yahoo login page, and even understanding that may not tell me. In the past, I have seen code essentiall saying "if IE x.3.2" do this, if chrome do that, if mozilla do something else, otherwise make it next to impossible...."
My problem is not only I get asked for my assword a second time, but also (and only very recently) I do not get a prompt to save username and pasword. I have gone to yahoo help pages to try to figure it out, and I feel like I just run in circles. If one wants to send a question in, they have to answer half a dozen questions disclosing private information. And I pay yahoo $20/year. grrr
If when you are trying to access your yahoo mail and you are being asked to enter both your username and password, but didn't sign out of yahoo, then indeed your are not being "kept signed in"

2nd Yahoo Mail Account - How to access?

Problem: I'm unable to set up my personal Yahoo Business mail account on my iPhone.
I have my work enterprise mail set up with the regular native iPhone mail client. It is my desire to keep my work enterprise e-mail account completely separate from either my Yahoo or Gmail accounts.
I actually have two different Yahoo e-mail accounts, one personal and a separate Yahoo Business account. I've got my regular Yahoo personal account going to the Yahoo Mail app for iPhone - no problem. However, I'm unable to find a way to have my separate Yahoo Business account on the iPhone. The Yahoo Mail app doesn't seem to allow the accessing of two separate accounts by the app.
Any suggestions as to how I can access the Yahoo Business account on the iPhone when I've already got a separate personal Yahoo mail account going to my Yahoo mail app for iPhone? Thanks!
