Mail doesn't have number next to dock icon anymore?

Also it doesn't show if an email has an attachment or not.. just wondering if anyone else is missing these elements?

To get the number of unread messages to show up on the dock icon, try activating Helvetica in the Font Book application.

Does Mail display # of new messages in the dock icon even when app is off?

I'm not sure if it does or not. I like how the new iCal icon in the dock displays the date even when the app isn't open.
I'd love if Mail would display the # of new messages in the dock icon without having to leave the application open all the time.
Otherwise, I just have to stick with Gmail Notifier.

Can't see system ram/memory usage in Mavericks dock icon anymore

I used to be able to select memory usage for the dock icon, but now it seems to be gone, or not there, in Mavericks. All I see now is CPU, Network, and Disk Activity. Anyone know where memory usage went?

.....update, I found this answer on another post. (I may have to use third party options untill Apple provides an updated memory "pressure" usage to the dock icon.
This is no longer an option, especially since Mavericks has new memory management routines (ie, memory compression) that make the charting of memory usage less straightforward. Apple has switched to a new "Memory Pressure" approach to viewing memory usage, which is available in the Memory section of Activity Monitor, but so far has not been added as a Dock icon option. Hopefully Apple will do so, as this would perhaps be one of the more useful Dock icon options.

Safari won't open. Firefox disappeared, only question mark. Mail doesn't have content. Time Machine won't turn on because sparse bundle is in use. Please help.

I had this issue about a month in a half ago and it was fixed by a local technician. I no longer have access to him and I really need some help. The issues are as follows:
Safari will not open.
Firefox disappeared. No icon, just a question mark in it's place.
When I open mail it shows I have new messages but the content is blank.
Time Machine cannot turn on because sparse bundle is in use.
New files that were made are no longer available. It's almost as if the computer jumped back in time.
The Mac Mini is running Mavericks 10.9.5

I'll assume that you have some way of connecting to this website from the affected machine. If not, ask for other instructions.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try to launch Safari. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

Blackberry doesn't have logo next to signal, can't connect to internet (Picture Attached)

Hi, I have a blackberry 9300 (Blackberry 3G) and it's about a year old, i got this phone so me and my dad could talk because my parents split up and i didn't have a good way of speaking to him. A few weeks ago he had this problem when it wouldn't connect to the internet (didn't display logo by the signal bar) i told him to do what i knew (i.e take the battery out and put back in) but it didn't change anything.... He went into EE (t-mobile and orange in the UK) and they didn't have a clue. I then got the same issue last night when i was talking to freinds on BBM, i can now only connect to the internet via WIFI which isn't good.

Thanks for support though. Got it solved... Took battery AND sim card out for 5 mins and then put it back in, solved it.. strange

View doesn't have number column Will not Show Album only Album by Artist/Year

Not sure what happened. The View in my main music Libary changed while loading many CD's into I-Tunes. The 1st column with the numbers is no longer there. When I add Album to the View, Album by Artist/Year appears instead of Album. I can't get the sorts I had earlier. If I go the playlists below, the columns all appear correctly. I've tried eerything in the View dropdown and can't correct it. Please help.

I thought it meant, for example, three posts not uploaded, but that's not it. Anyone have the same thing?

Scaner application for OfficeJet 6500A doesn't have automatic selection of scan source anymore

Hi!
I used Officejet 6500A and old driver (OJ6500_E710a-f_231.exe) which is work great.
I try newer driver (OJ6500_E710a-f_1315.exe) and have issue - I must choose scan source for multiple pages PDF scan!!!
I solved issue by using older driver. But now I install Windows 8.1 and I can't install older driver anymore!!!
With older driver (..._231) scanner application automatically scan from ADF if I put some page(es) inside, or from flatbed if ADF is empty.
With newer driver (..._1315 <and ..._1315-1 which is compatible with Windows 8.1>) scanner application force me to choose scan source - and I can't mix pages from different sources in single multipage PDF!!!
Does anyone now how to install old driver (..._231) on Windows 8.1 or how to tweek current driver/application to automatically choose beetwen ADF and flatbed?

I installed Virtual Machine running Win7 and install old driver - and I can mix different sources in single PDF document again!

Wrong number of unread Mails in Dock icon

I have set Mail to check all mail folders to display the number of unread mails in the dock icon because I'm using IMAP accounts and have incoming mails filtered into different folders.
However, even if I mark all mails as read in every folder the dock icon still shows one unread message. I can't seem to find that damned mail.
Can I somehow reset the count? How do I find, which mail Mail still thinks is unread?

Create a smart folder based on mail status is unread. Then go to that folder and you should find the mail
An "unread mail" smart folder is quite handy for other things as well, such as easily finding all unread mail that's scattered across all those folders -- much more efficient

Wrong number of new mails in dock icon

I have created a number of (local) folders and rules that move the appropriate mail to those folders. However the dock icon counts only the number of new mails in the IN-box and not the ones in those folders. Should I have done something else?

In Mail's General preferences, you can set the "Dock unread count" popup menu to "All Mailboxes" instead of "Inbox Only".
If you need an even more specific way to determine the quantity, you can create a new smart mailbox in which you define how you want the count generated. You can then set the popup menu to this smart mailbox instead of the "All Mailboxes" or "Inbox Only" choices.

Can't stop the dock icon bouncing when there is an "alert" from Thunderbird

I posted this question on the MozillaZine forum, but no-one there answered so I thought I'd try here.
I'm using Thunderbird 2.0.0.14 for my email. Is there a way to stop the dock icon bouncing when there is an "alert"? These happen relatively frequently in connection with my Yahoo account, and every time the icon bounces until I go to Thunderbird and click "ok" on the alert box. This is slowly driving me nuts. I have disabled the "animate dock icon" setting for new mail, and for my whole system when programs start or open, but it hasn't had any effect on the behaviour of the icon with regards to alerts.

Hey, no problem, really... we're here trying to help & just need to find out what is needed to help!
You really should right click on the whole Thubderbird folder and Archive it first, so we can go back if need be.
Then, it appears that if you just recreate the account, with the name, email, server, and smtp, then everything comes back for that account... at least for global accounts.
If you wish to hold off on this then just move the original .js back and start T-Bird again, then I can search for a way to edit the existing .js file, because for some reason, when you change your prefs back, it's not changing that file like it should.

Bouncing dock icon

I've set up the bouncing dock icon.
But in Thunderbird, it would bounce and once TB got focus (even without clicking the dock icon), it would stop bouncing.
In Mail, this is not the case, I have to click the dock icon to stop the bouncing. Is this fixable?

There's nothing to fix; it's normal behavior. Why don't you just turn off the bouncing Dock icon, since you don't need it to check your mail?

Lost wallpaer and dock icon after boot

Sometimes during boot a fray bar appears, like when I update EFI and after boot I have lost wallpaer and dock icon.
In that case I have to reboot and during boot the gray bar does not appear and I get my wallpaper back but the dock is empty.

Did you remove the preferences folder or the preferences within that folder from /Users/Home/Library? If you have not then perhaps something has happened to your drive/directory that seems to have affected only that part of your system - unlikely but possible. Do you have a backup?
I don't know how SuperDuper works having never used it but can you recreate your backup sets from the backups themselves?
