Mail doesn't quit, clock frozen and spotlight not working. HP printer

After i installed the snow leopard the mail program doesn't quit and i have to force quit every time,
After startup the clock on the right upper corner stays on the same time i start the computer until i restart again and still has the time frozen of the last restart
Command key and space bar don't bring up the spotlight and if i move the cursor to the icon on the right upper it starts thinking
The HP c3100 dosen't scan not manually nor auto, it says the printer is not recognizable to scan and i cant print with the icon on top i have to go to the file menu and print manually

Did you repair permissions on the hard drive after upgrading? How full is the hard drive? Did you use an original Apple disk for the upgrade?

  • My iPad 2 opens mail page but it is frozen and will not scroll

    I Can open my mail page. It will not scroll

    Have you tried :
    - closing the Mail app via the multitasking bar and seeing if it works properly when you re-open the app : double-click the home button to open the iPad's multitasking bar and on that swipe or drag the Mail app's 'screen' up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
    - soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Find File and Spotlight not working....

    Hi all,
    Today, I used the find file command to search for survey I needed to print out. I searched for "survey" and nothing was found. I did the same thing in spotlight with the same results. I then searched through folders (the horror) and found the file I was looking for. After opening the file, both "find" and spotlight were able to find the document. A couple of hours ago, I did a search for "memo" - I've got many documents with the word memo in it - both find file and spotlight came up with no results. I did a quick search in the spotlight topic and someone suggested using Yasu to run all of the maintenances - same results. Does anyone know how to reset the index file, or whatever file OS X uses? I'm currently running OS 10.4.5.

    Hi Bryan,
    Even after so many threads, ideas and turnarounds found on these very Forums by Francine Schwieder and many other geniuses, discussing its doubtful behaviours and trying to make it work better,
    personally I don't think I can trust it anymore, rely on it to find something and to positively conclude it's not here if it doesn't find it.
    Even if one day I see it finds invisible files at last.
    That's why I use EasyFind.
    EasyFind always finds everything, just like Panther's Find (⌘F) feature used to, because it uses the same kind of indexing.
    Your problem looks like you just didn't give it enough time to index, but anyway, can you rely on it anymore after that?
    On my computer, EasyFind has always been stable, problem-free, and unfortunately a little slow.
    Enjoy (the other good aspects of) Tiger!

  • Firewire, USB ports, and Spotlight not working

    When I got home and booted up my iMac G5, I noticed that my 4G iPod was not recognized by FInder and iTunes, like it did before. When I tried resetting my iPod, I checked and it was working fine. Then I tried changing the port to which my Firewire connection was. Still nothing. I tried shutting down, but midway, it hanged. I had to do a hard reboot (pressing the power button for a few seconds) When it started up again, I noticed that my External HD, connected by USB was not recognised. The weired thing is, it recognised the other external HD( I have two connected by USB). I wanted to search in the HELP section for troubleshooting tips but when I typed in Spotlight, it wasn't working. I tried it in both the Desktop and Finder. Not working. Even Software Update hangs on me. WHAT DO I DO? HELP!
    Another thing, My iPod is still working and is still being charged by Firewire, even though it doesn't appear on my desktop, iTunes and Finder.

    Perform all the "usual diagnostic routines" to see if it cures the problem:
    1.Repair Disk Permission then restart the Mac and see how...
    2.If this doesn't work, boot from the OS disc and run Disk Utility; If Hardware Test is on the same disc, usually the DVD version, run it too to determine everything is OK
    Good luck and cheers; Oh, it's best you run all these with all extra accessories, pheriperals etc plug out, i.e. meaning only your keyboard, mouse is plug in, do note that running the Hardware Test may require a wired keyboard and mouse.
    Cheers

  • Edege animate: Parallax and Spotlight = Not working together?...

    Hi all,
    This is my first post, and sorry for my English :))
    I am learning, and have a small composition on Edge Animate CC 2014 on Scrolling Parallax, which works very well, and now I want to add a spotlight... but do not working together.
    My code is:
    Stage: 1920 x 2000
    Autoplay: No
    -- creationComplete: (nothing)
    -- compositionReady:
    EC.Parallax.setup(sym);
    On scene:
    A Text (is for launch the spotlight with the click function):
    Action for "Text":
    -- click
    // Open image in spotlight overlay
    // Set up configuration
    var config = {
    width: "1024",
    height: "768",
    type: "image",
    source: "images/dog.jpg"
    EC.Spotlight.open( config );
    My problem is that the parallax works great, but when I make a click on the button that showing the spotlight... this is not released, and "dog.jpg" picture it is show on the bottom of the page (without spotlight).
    What am I doing wrong?
    Note: I charge via url the "All in One" of EdgeCommons CDN : http://cdn.edgecommons.org/an/1.1.2/js/min/EdgeCommons.js
    Many thanks!

    Ok. I've solved. I needed to load some things:
    EC.Parallax.setup (sym);
    The full code (that works for me) is:
    -- compositionReady:
    EC.Parallax.setup(sym);
    // Load Edge Commons
    yepnope({
    load: [
    "http://cdn.edgecommons.org/an/1.1.0/js/min/EdgeCommons.js",
    // Load style sheet for the overlay
    "http://cdn.edgecommons.org/an/1.1.0/css/style.css"
    -- click
    // Open image in spotlight overlay
    // Set up configuration
    var config = {
    width: "1024",
    height: "768",
    type: "image",
    source: "images/dog.jpg"
    EC.Spotlight.open( config );
    I hope to serve others.

    iphoto 9.6 on yosemite is deleting all of the pics from the former library, iphoto 9.6 can't share with Facebook despite that it is oke with the account. no sharing with iMessage and no sharing with iCloud possible the choices stay grey. also print orders are not possible it's stay also grey.

    I had the same issue too, email, facebook, Twitter  ect, all greyed out.
    What ist the solution?
    Did you read the thread?
    here is one
    I had the same issue, email, iMessage, Facebook,etc.. plus print all greyed out. I went up to the File menu, clicked on the Switch to Library drop down. Since I only have one library it was already selected, hit choose and all of the functions work again. Seems the system wasn't acknowledging my original library once I updated to Yosemite or 9.6. Either way, it works now.
    If that does not work here is another suggestion
    Try repair permissions with Disk Utility.

  • After reinstall, help viewer and spotlight not working

    Hello,
    I am selling my computer. I zeroed out the harddrive. Reinstalled Leopard, updated everything, and now searching on a term in the helpviewer causes it to quit. I tried this, suggested by a person on this forum:
    Hello,
    Open the Preferences folder, locate these files:
    com.apple.help.plist
    com.apple.helpviewer.plist
    com.apple.recentitems.plist
    Drag those files to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot.
    However, the first two files do not exist. Searching on them, I discovered that Spotlight had not indexed all files. So I caused it to reindex, but it still is not finding ANY com.apple.... files, and they do exist.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

    First check that nothing is excluded from SpotLight search
    Then run activity monitor and see if spotlight is running - it takes a very long time on a new system to index everything. Maybe you only need to give it time.
    I believe that there is a blinking dot in the center of the spotlight "lens" icon when it is running, but I am not sure.

  • Mac wont shut down,log off,restart, dashboard and spotlight not working fro

    Hi I keep getting this problem..
    I cannot log off, restart, or shutdown randomly. I am using Leopard v10.5.7, with all other updates. Also I cannot get dashboard or spotlight to start off the keyboad shorcuts.
    I have to hold the power butt=on for more than 10secs to shut it down, which I do not like doing.
    I have repaired permission, stopping apps staring automatically on log in. removed all cables to reset SMC etc etc.
    It doesnt happen all the time, but sometimes it does. Reason I have to close my Mac down is my wife and kids use Boot Camp with Win XP on.
    This is now starting to annoy me, can someone please help, I've had my Mac 18months now, 1st one ever, so am still learning, especially when things go wrong or dont work, as I didn't expect this on a Mac!!
    cheers

    HI,
    Try booting from your install disk and checking the hard drive for errors.
    Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
    Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
    Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
    Select First Aid in the Main panel.
    *(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
    Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
    If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
    If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
    When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
    Select your start up disk and click Restart
    While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window where you see Capacity and Available. Make sure there is always 15% free disk space. Not enough disk space can cause directory corruption.
    If you cannot boot from your install disk, try booting in Safe Mode

  • While updating to 8.3 screen is frozen and will not work. How do I reboot?

    Started update to 8.3, verifying update appears and nothing works. The screen has been this way for over 12 hours. Can't even shut down. Is there a fix?

    You could try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear and it should reboot.

  • Keyboard and Trackpad Not Working; Mac OSX Unexpectedly Quit?

    Hey everyone... I think I may need to stop by the Apple store to figure this one out, but I just wanted to make sure if there was anything I could do on my own first.
    So basically, on my MacBook Pro that I got nearly two years ago (late September of 2006) for the past month and a half has had problems. In the beginning, the mouse and keyboard would freeze up and just not work. Restarting the comp did nothing. Some times were worse than others (once it was frozen for 1.5 hours). Then it stopped, every now and then having a few freezes (sometimes when the keyboard froze but the trackpad was still good), but two days ago I had my comp not hooked up to an adapter. When the battery got low, the comp froze. I went to bed and closed the laptop, and the next day it was still frozen. I unfroze it, but then it happened again (I'm pretty sure the same situation... almost no battery)... and it is still frozen, even after multiple restarts.
    Also, during the time when freezes weren't as bad, sometimes the keyboard would get stuck on one key, usually the volume up button (very annoying)... then I was told to restart the comp. When I came back, I was told that Mac OS X had unexpectedly quit.
    Sorry that was a lot to read, but any help is really appreciated! Thanks!
    Not sure if this is also important, but I did spill some water on the keyboard a very long time ago (late December '06)... it wouldn't take this long for that to cause the problem, would it?

    Does booting up in [Safe Mode|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455?viewlocale=en_US] help at all? This boot mode checks the disk on startup and disables non-apple start up items and certain kernel extensions.

    If the normal restart doesn't work, and you restart on the recovery hard drive, from the choices of things to do window that appears, select Terminal, and in the Terminal window type: resetpassword and then press enter.  You will have a window with the users to choose from to reset the password.  Select the one you want and you will be able to reset the password, double entry of course.
