Mail downloads one email at a time.  ???

Just noticed this problem today. My main gmail account (I have 4 gmail and 1 yahoo account) will only download one email at a time. One click of "Get Mail", one email. My other accounts all work properly, leading me to think that it's not a gmail problem, but a setting on my mail gmail account that has gone bad.
Since it's been bad like this a few days now, I could click "Get Mail" fifty times to get my fifty emails, or, hope someone can come up with a better idea.
Thanks in advance!!!

Teri,
Do you ever take your Mac to a better connection, and if so, does this issue occur at that time?
With the connection speed you cite, I think it might be possible for the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3 file to get corrupted, and might be the source of failure to complete download of all new emails each cycle, given the need to administer between messages not yet downloaded, and those that have been.
If you do get to take this Mac to a better connection, then first Move all your Inbox messages to a new On My Mac mailbox, then delete the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3 file and see if all messages on the server will fully download. In doing that, that file will be refreshed by the creation of a new one following the download. You can try the same from your normal connection, but it would be better to do it from a faster connection.

  • Mail: I can only open one email at a time

Using Mail, I have a very strange phanomenon: I can only open one email at a time. E.g. when writing a new email, I cannot open another email for reference. I need to close and save the new email as a draft before being able to open another one.
It would be great if somebody could help me with this, thanks!

    Hi Cocolores,
If you choose File > New Viewer Window from the menu bar in Mail, you can have as many email messages open as you like.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!

With your Mail app open and the listing of the messages, tap Edit at the top right.  Then check each circle on the left side of the messages to delete.  When you have checked those to delete, tap Trash at the lower right.
Next tap Mailboxes upper left, under accounts select the account, then for the account tap Trash.  Select Edit upper right, and at the bottom, Delete All, and confirm Delete All and all will be removed at one time.

I can only view one email at a time when i open my email app

Reopened this question in another forum, since I am not talking about an iPhone but a MacBook Pro:

I need to close and save the new email as a draft before being able to open another one. Obviously, I am not reading two emails at a time, but I might be writing one and needing infos/text from another. It sounds stupid, but that's the way it is. :-/

  • I cannot "download all" from the cloud ... it says that itunes has encountered an error and needs to shut down. I can download one song at a time. It is not being caused by any one song.

I have the latest version of iTunes. When I am in the iTunes store and I click on purchased it will show me a list of all my purchased songs. Some of the older songs are already in my iTunes account. There is a cloud symbol by any songs that have not been download to my account. It always fails if I try to do a "download all" (at the bottom of the page) but I seem to be able to download one song at a time. These are songs that were purchased on my iPhone but I wanted to put them in my iTunes account so that I could put them on my iPod. The problem does not appear to be associated to any one song.

I did think about that and if I have to I will do that, however there are about 50 songs. I have closed and reopened iTunes several times and I am sure that I have the latest version. It fails right away but I can click on the cloud download icon and download the song that it failed on ... therefore it is not that song "or any one song" causing the issue. Any ideas?

  • How do I download one app at a time in itunes or appstore

Hi there fellow apple lovers, just got my first iphone, you see I have a habbit of downloading from the app store simultaneously, is there anyway I can set my iphone 5s to download one app at a time, well in other words queing them so that if a download finishes, it will automatically download the next app

If the program/window is not a text-based one (such as a word processor), you can usually use the up and down arrow keys to scroll up or down one line at a time.
There are often mods to this behavior, but exactly what depends on the program. Test with the up and down arrow keys in conjunction with the usual modifier keys - Shift, Command, Option, etc.

  • When downloading i can only download one link at a time per window. i used to be able to download six links at a time per page. how do i go back to this?

but essentially on my old laptop if a window had six downloadable links i would be able to download all six at once. now i can only download one link at a time. this is very annoying. i do not believe it is an issue with the new laptop itself as it is a highend toshiba.

Mail suddenly started downloading only one, or at most two, emails at a time—it takes forever to download all my mail and I have to keep clicking on "check mail". • Mail only retrieving one email at a time

    Short history behind the problem:
About a month ago my Mac stopped retrieving new email completely.  Re-starting, re-building, etc. did nothing.  Using 'Get account info' I could see that the last email it thought was on the Gmail server looked a bit odd - no subject, etc.  After deleting that in Gmail I could then get new mail.
But now, even though I can see that there are about a dozen new emails on Gmail, the Mac only downloads one at a time.  Therefore at maximum 'get' speed that takes 12 minutes.
Interestingly, 'Get account info' doesn't show the latest emails, but Mail does get them - just one at a time.
Anyone got any ideas on this?
    Thanks,
    Richard

I might have found the solution for this.
Right-clicking on Inbox and selecting 'Get Account Info' I could see quite a few 0 size emails left on the server.  After selecting these and clicking 'Remove from server' it solved the problem - Mail now downloads many emails at once :-)
Hope this helps anyone who gets this problem too.

  • How can I set Mail to show only one email at a time

Mail will group emails based on subject or sender and then I keep losing or missing emails because they get buried in a thread. Sometimes under another persons name!
    I'm old and easily confused.
I just want one email per line. No grouping. Can't seem to figure out how.
    Thanks!

  • Mail constantly checks for new mail; downloads same emails repeatedly HELP!

For the last three days (since 19th), Mail has been downloading the same emails over and over again. I first noticed a problem when about 20 spam emails that usually route to my Junk folder appeared in my Inbox. I thought I had just moved it incorrectly and deleted them, then they appeared again later.
The mail jogger cycle (next to Inbox) keeps turning and turning like it can't stop checking for new mail. How do I get it to stop?? The emails are multiplying like gremlins in my Inbox and driving me nuts!
Also, it only downloads new emails when I first open the app. I have to force-quit out of Mail, then reopen, and I will get a couple of new emails, and then ALL THE EMAILS FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS AGAIN.
Mail was working fine for me until three days ago. The only thing I've changed recently is a Software Update on the 15th for QuickTime and iTunes.
Please help! I tried to Repair Permissions and it didn't do anything. I also tried removing all messages from the server and that did nothing either.
    Mail Version 2.1
THANK YOU ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME!!
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2.1 GHz, 512 MB Memory

UPDATE: I think I got it to stop checking mail. I have Yahoo mail and I checked my email through online Yahoo. I was able to delete a bunch of emails and it suddenly stopped checking for email in the Mail app.
HOWEVER, it will NOT remove some of my junk emails. I was able to delete over 100+ of them. But one specific message (which I now have 8 copies of) will not go away. It is one of those 'Delivery Status Notification' emails. Is this a virus??
I've tried Erasing Deleted Messages and Erasing Junk Mail. Neither helps. These emails won't go away.
Help please! I would be very grateful.

  • HT201322 Is it possible to buy a TV box set on iTunes but only download one season at a time

I cannot afford to use up all the space it would take to download four seasons of a tv box set. Is there a way I can purchase the box set but only store locally one season at a time?

I misunderstood you. I thought you had a link to a mini-DVI to HDMI cable. That's why I asked for the link.
You can use the adapter you linked to and get a DVI to HDMI cable locally and it will work for you.
Sorry about the confusion on my part.
