Mail Drop recipients cannot download files

When sending large attachments Mail seems to be sending them by Mail Drop, but the non Yosemite recipients receive the download email all most straight away (so no time for the file to have been uploaded to iCloud).
When clicking the link in the email a grey screen is displayed saying "An error occurred. There was a problem downloading the requested file. Please try again later."
This is when using Mail for my work mail exchange account.
Any ideas anyone?

When a user clicks on an attachment with spaces, the filename is truncated to the first whitespace. While IE, Chrome & Safari handle this, Firefox refuses to accept mime headers with unquoted filename parameters. According to Firefox's bugzilla/knowledgebase, Firefox's behavior is the correct behavior and it's a problem with most webservers or web applications. This problem can be easily corrected by surrounding the filename parameter with double quotes.
Eg.
Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=\"" + fileName + "\"");

Correct, Safari can not be used to download files on the iPad. Also a Mac based game will not work on an iPad. Any available Apps for the iPad need to be downloaded from the App Store.

  • Cannot download files in IE

I cannot download files similar to what is described in this question.... <Microsoft blocked the link>
I am using Win 7 and IE 11.  When I try to download files, like WinRAR <Microsoft blocked the link> or Firefox <Microsoft blocked the link>.  Files get renamed.  For the winrar example the file gets renamed to "dl_".
Most of the time only the dot before the exe gets renamed but as you can see with the WinRAR example, that is not always the case.
Executables are not the only culprit.   I think the problem happens when the download is initiated by the website, versus right clicking on an img and downloading.  I use TaxAct and the problem happens when trying to download non-executable
files from there.  I can only assume that the files are pdf's but the rename of the file prevents me from knowing what type of files they are.
    thanks

    Hi,
Do you mean that you can successfully download these files but these files are not useful or broken? Did you see any message prompted? When did this issue happen? Did you make any changes before?
What is the security level of your IE? Go to Tools\Internet Options\Security\Interbet or trusted site, see the security level, set it to the default level.
Clear the history of IE,  run a security scan to make sure the safety of your system, change the location of the downloads, test the result again.

  • Hi I am trying to download the family tree maker that i purchased by email onto my ipad however I keep getting the same thing SAFARI CANNOT DOWNLOAD FILE can anyone help me solve this problem thanks.....bebe

Hi i am i have any ipad and i am trying to download family tree maker that i purchased online, but all that keeps co ing up is safari cannot download file can anyone help me .....bebe

I think you are trying to install a computer application to use on an iPad. You can't. They are incompatible pieces of hardware. If you want Family Tree Maker for your iPad, then you need to get that version, if it exists, from the iTunes Store. That download can't be done via Safari.

  • Problems with Yahoo, I Cannot download files from my mail or logout from my account.

Recently, I have discovered that I cannot logout from my Yahoo account without closing Firefox, which clears my history. Also, I have problems downloading files from my email. At first I thought maybe Yahoo was having some issues but when I use Safari, I don't have these problems. Any idea as to what my problem could be?

I can't think any way in which Adobe Reader is involved in downloading pics from your camera. If you think Adobe is involved, check the name of the Adobe software you are using, they make lots of stuff.

  • Cannot download files - or even post here?????????

I started a topic in this thread that I couldn't download files any longer from sites such as Rapidshare - after a few minutes of downloading at 56.7 kbps the connection appears to be lost and the download rate drops to zero. If I attempt to re-download I get to maybe 4 or 6 mb then the connection is lost again. This happens every time on every file and no matter how long I leave it the connection does not restore, so file downloads are now impossible.
I'm on BT broadband and they say the line is fine with a connection speed of 576 kbps download, but there appears to be some kind of intermittent break which loses the connection - web browsing is fine but there are a lot of blue address bar hang-ups and error messages "lost network connection" or "Safari could not connect to the server" which never used to happen. I have made no changes to the Mac other than Apple's own software updates.
When I tried to post this earlier I got the Safari can’t open the page “http://discussions.apple.com/post!post.jspa” because it could not connect to the server “discussions.apple.com” message.. as usual... so it took me two attempts to even post... anyone else having these problems, and what's the cure or cause?

It appears I cannot edit this message despite being logged in and able to reply, so here's a post-script I was not allowed to add earlier:
P.S. - here's an interesting point - when I went to close Safari I got the "download in progress" message - my two test downloads have not yet stopped having been running in the background all this time although the total downloaded, 6.4 mb and 12.9 mb are unchanged with a total running time estimated as 17 hours 13 minutes left. The download speed is now 3.1 kbps per second. Why are my downloads so constricted as to be almost impossible??? I can't fathom this at all....
Why couldn't I edit my own message despite being still logged in? Something very funny is going on here...

  • IE11: Cannot download files or add search providers

I am cleaning a friend's Windows 7 SP1 laptop that got infected with a bunch of Conduit and MySearch toolbars. I cleaned it with MalwareBytes, AdwCleaner and MS Safety Scanner, dumped Norton and got MSE. I then noticed some issues with Internet Explorer
    11:
I can't download files. Clicking a link or right-click and "Save target as..." does nothing. No errors, prompts, toasts or anything. Acts like I did nothing. Images can still be saved.
I can't open the download manager. Neither the menu option nor Ctrl-J do anything at all. Entering "shell:downloads" in the address bar opens the Downloads folder in Explorer, but I can't get to the normal download manager.
I can't add a search provider. Adding through the gallery or using a button on a search engine's homepage results in the message "The search provider could not be installed." It suggests that a required file couldn't be downloaded, the site is
not available, or I'm not connected to the Internet.
Search suggestions don't work, at least for Bing, the only search provider I can get. They also didn't work when I copied in the registry entries from a Win8 machine to add Google manually. I just get "[search provider] Suggestions: An error occurred."
Search providers don't have their icons. I currently have 2 copies of Bing, and both just have a generic magnifying glass icon.
Browsing is very often slow. Every page load stalls for a few extra seconds on "Waiting for [site]...". I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with the network in general or with the whole system. Both IE on other computers and Chrome on this computer
    load pages without this delay.
    So far, I have tried:
Started with add-ons disabled and/or run as administrator.
    Cleared personal stuff, reset IE.
Disabled and re-enabled IE in "Turn Windows features on or off".
sfc /scannow says everything is okay. Before running the System Update Readiness Tool it said there were corrupted files it couldn't fix.
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth, which found 4 "corrupted" packages that according to http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_update/cbs-mum-package-naming-issue-causing-false/9cd9b2e0-0377-46dc-9d2b-5b9d7fedac4a
are false positives caused by differing number of tildes in their names. Apart from those 4 it gave the system a clean bill of health. System Update Readiness Tool says the same thing.
Uninstalled IE11 through "Uninstall a program", in the Windows Updates section. I now had IE10, which exhibited exactly the same issues. Attempting to reinstall IE11 resulted in an unspecified error.
Uninstalled IE10 the same way, hoping to revert to IE9 or 8 and reinstall from there. I now found myself with no Internet Explorer at all. "Windows cannot find 'iexplore'", remaining shortcuts like the no-addons one were broken, and it was even
missing from "Turn Windows features on or off". Attempting to reinstall IE10 or IE11 failed. I couldn't find a download of IE9.
Used System Restore to bring back IE11. Obviously this returned everything to the broken state it was in before I uninstalled.
Anyone have anything else I can try? (And no, there aren't any restore points from before the toolbars got in.)

}This program works fine for downloading files, over both http and https from my home. When I run this on my desktop in the office it can download files over http, but cannot download https files.
When I try to download files over https, I get the foll. exception:
    java.net.UnknownHostException: www.site.com
    at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(PlainSocketImpl.java:153)
    at java.net.Socket.connect(Socket.java:452)

    at sun.net.www.protocol.https.HttpsClient.doConnect(DashoA12275)
There are 2 differences here, one being that my office desktop sits behind a firewall and there is a proxy in between.
In the office I run the program as :
java -Dhttp.proxyHost -Dhttp.proxyPort TestServlet URL [filename]
    eg.:
    java -Dhttp.proxyHost=235.67.138.84 -Dhttp.proxyPort=8080 TestServlet https://site.com/portal/Downloads/file.csv file.csv
This url requires authentication, the userid and pwd are hardcoded in the code.
Now, my problem is I cannot understand why this error would come. Is it because of the firewall or because of the proxy ?
Why is it that I can download over http successfully from my office desktop? If the problem is with the firewall or proxy, then even http protocol urls should give the same problem.
    Please help.

If you are using HTTPS you should be setting
    https.proxyHost
    https.proxyPortnot the http.* ones.

  • At times I cannot download files from Firefox, but I can in IE

    Hello,
My problem is twofold. Firstly at least once in three, I cannot download my attachments from gmail. What happens is the download window flashes up for a half second. Then it disappears. The file is NOT downloaded in the appropriate folder (or anywhere else), I have checked that.
Secondly, I am trying to listen to a radio station from the website below, but anytime I click on the Listen link, nothing happens except for the download window flashing for a half second. Then it disappears. I can only assume it is a .pls file as most internet radios have a file with such an extension for their playlist.
Both errors have been occuring since the update of 3.6.10.
    Thanks for any insight.

The eLocity A7 tablet you have should technically work with the mobile Firefox.
It has Android 2.2 and most importantly a ARMv7 type of cpu, a NVIDIA Tegra II T20 and it has 512MB RAM.
mbrubeck who works on mobile Firefox has been recommending to try the Firefox 9 Beta's because it includes a new interface designed especially for Android tablets.

HI, i'm having a problem where i cannot download any files in Safari or Firefox
    Downloads fail immediately.
    Running 10.9.4
    Have reset browsers.
Issue is user specific, does not occur in guest user profile.
    No speed plugins present.
    Any ideas?

    Anti virus software installed?
Any net monitoring apps such as Little Snitch?
Does your ISP iimpose a limited bandwidth on downloads?
    And troubleshoot Safari extensions ...
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

  • Cannot download files from private published site

I am using the "published site private" option settings to control user access with a user name and password.  This site has a page with links to pdf files stored on my me.com account.  The pdf items are to be opened and downloaded by users who access this page through the security settings.
With the security settings removed the process to download files works OK
With security settings enabled, the user name and password successfully open the site but the pdf items will not open and cannot be downloaded.
    What am I doing wrong?

You can protect PDF files with a password and user name.  When you go to save the document as a PDF file, i.e. Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save as PDF, there will be a window to set password and user name.
That would work for files to be downloaded but not for the pages themselves.

  • NetStorage : Cannot Download Files 4GB

This looks like some sort of 32 bit unsigned integer bug... But oddly I can upload > 4GB files with some browsers.
    I have tested with:
    1. Chromium 27 on opensuse 11.4 (64bit) - Can Upload >4GB, cannot download >=4GB (it downloads the file modulo 4GB)
    2. IE 10/Opera 12.15/Chrome 26/Firefox 20 on Windows 7 (64bit) - All fail (modulo 4GB) on download; IE 10 fails on both up/down; Chrome/Firefox Upload okay. Chrome is nice since it gives an actual percentage complete status whereas the other give no progress feedback.
    3. Firefox 20 on Windows XP (32bit) - Cannot up/down >=4GB
    4. IE6 on Windows XP (32bit) - Cannot up/down >=2GB
4.1 Microsoft has documented limitations in IE6 (2GB-1 byte max) and in IE7 (4GB-1 byte max). They say IE8 on XP has no limitation, but I have not tested it.
While it is clear that some issues are probably from the browser side (eg IE 6/7) it also seems possible that there is a bug in the NetStorage backend. It might be a bug in the code of java/tomcat or it might be tuneable knob (default setting) in apache/tomcat/java. If you know of any of these knobs please post - I've googled to no avail.
