Mail ending up in spam folder of yahoo and hotmail.

We set up the mail server so that we could send email through php's mail() function. The email that is being sent is being sent from [email protected]
The mail enters the inbox folder in gmail and also on my personal websites email addresses. Could there be something wrong with any of our domain records or anything of the sort? Any ideas about how to fix this?
Thanks
Smeshy

Also ... before I forget ... you may want to consider implementing Yahoo's "DomainKey" anti-spoofing technology. The merits of this technology are debatable, but Yahoo! does use this approach to detect spoofing and their content filter is less suspicious of mail servers that use the technique.
For an explanation, see: http://antispam.yahoo.com/domainkeys
Pterobyte wrote a tutorial for implementing this approach here: http://osx.topicdesk.com/content/view/88/62/
If the tutorial is over your head, you can hire a consultant to do it. It takes less than an hour to implement, so it's not too expensive to do.

  • Mail all going to Spam folder

    I have just loaded Lion and all my incoming mail is now going to a folder the inbox has created called Spam. I have set the Junk Filter to put all mail in my in box first even if it thinks it's junk but it still sending everything to this Spam folder. I tried deleting the spam folder, resetting the junk filter and tried sending a test e mail to myself. Mail simply recreated the Spam folder I'd just deleted and sent the test mail there. Has anyone seen this before and know how to fix it?

    Sounds like you have a third party spam filter software like SpamSieve-  these require or create a seperate Spam filter Folder.

    Is it possible Mail in Lion guise is seeing Intego Personal Antispam even though its switched off?
    Obviously it is.
    Try disabling the plug-in in Mail, or
    try uninstalling IPA if you can not figure out a fix.

    It has worked perfectly until a few days ago. How can I restore the old junk "learnt" list, since it is marking as SPAM senders who have been my correspondants for years?? Where is the old junk pref file to be found?

    Why start a new and very similar thread to your other one which you have not responded to (have you read the replies?)
    I suggest that no response is made to this duplicate thread.

  • Is there any way to have mail in Gmail's Spam folder show up in Junk?

    I use Gmail IMAP and Apple Mail 4.2. One thing I find frustrating is that if I am trying to keep an eye on my spam / junk for wayward messages (as we all should do from time to time) I have to check 2 folders.
    Is there any way to set it up so mail that is tagged as spam by gmail goes to the Junk folder in apple mail.
    I know you can setup gmails spam folder to be the Junk - but I want the reverse - so the Junk folder up by my Inbox houses all the junk & spam.
    This used to work - does not seem to anymore - or I'm missing something.
    Thanks in advance.

    not possible. i suggest you set up the gmail spam folder to be the junk folder.

  • Trouble with non-spam ending up in spam folder & b...

    Having a very annoying problem today. My news digests etc from Times as part of my sub to the newspaper have been arriving fine up to now, but are today landing in the Spam folder. When I highlight a message and choose "not spam" or whatever from the options the message is supposed to be moved from spam to  in box. But instead they are deleted. How do I a) stop Times emails being wrongly bunged in Spam folder b) move wrongly classified "spam" to in-box -& not have them deleted. By the way, does BT email not have a "recently deleted" option so one can access emails deleted accidentally?
    Cheers..

  • Where did this Spam folder come from and how to I "un-spam" emails?

    Hello
    I have my email account setup on my iPhone via POP. There is no spam folder on my email server.
    Yesterday I noticed hundreds of emails in a spam folder in the folder list on my iPhone. When I log into my webmail this folder is no there, therefore I am thinking the iPhone has created it.
    Firstly, how do I stop it from doing this?
    Secondly, emails in there are from people who have successfully emailed me in the past without getting filtered into spam so how do I un-spam emails?
    Is this spam a new iOS4 feature?
    Ultimately I can resetup my email as IMAP but that will delete all the emails in this folder and I don't want to do that (so I suppose I'm going to have to manually move them all right?)
    Many thanks for your help
    Ken

    If you are using Gmail, it is the All Mail label that has always existed, but Snow Leopard didn't show it.
    You can disable it in Gmail's settings under Labels. Set it to not show in IMAP.
    Some people experience problems when doing that, though. I did not.
    I set up my Gmail as shown in this blog post: http://jeffschuette.com/2012/03/07/setting-up-apple-mail-to-rock-and-roll-with-g mail/
    I didn't want Gmail storing emails that I had deleted, so I used his setup to stop it, and I also hid the All Mail folder from Mail.

  • How do you select all in spam folder of yahoo mail classic?

    I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and discovered there is no 'select all' tab for Yahoo classic mail. There has to be a way to delete all the junk mail without having to check each message individually.Please tell me the secret!
    Thanks, in advance.

    FYI, I discovered that the problem is with Safari 6.0.1. When I log into my Yahoo mail account with Firefox, both the 'select all' tab and the checkbox at the far left in the 'From' / Subject' header above your e-mail list are present. I checked with my son who is still running Lion, and all of the above information is in his Yahoo account. The Safari he has installed is 5.7.1.
    I wonder what other anomolies I will find.
    Apple if you see this, how about fixing this in your next Safari update?

  • Pop3 emails ending up in spam folder ?

    I tried to get my emails from my site to Outlook express, I
    followered the instructions, but it did not make an account in OE,
    its in the accounts but not in the main view of OE.
    I did some tests and a friend emailed me and all of the
    emails ended up in the Norton Spam mail folder in the local folders
    Is this correct ?

    when you 'get' mail with a pop email client like OE, the mail
    is deleted
    from the host (unless you've check an advanced option to not
    delete the
    mail)
    does your host have a cpanel? if yes- go to the
    mail-->accounts section.
    There is a button that will auto-configure a mail account in
    windows/outlook
    express.
    otherwise, look in OE help or google on how to create new
    mail account.

  • How do I get my Bandoo, which once worked GREAT to start working again on Facebook? The plug-in works fine on IE AND... works great on both messengers; Yahoo and Hotmail on FOXFIRE.

    I can see the animated emotions of Bandoo in others postings on Facebook but I cant insert them myself. The plug-in works in Y messenger and Live messenger, just NOT on FB

    Another Apple Knowledge Base article which may help is _Troubleshooting portables that won't turn on or start up_. Maybe something there will help.
    Did you call in about the keyboard problem? At one point, they were sending out a free new keyboard to replace one with the worn-letter problem. I'm not sure they're still doing that, though.

  • Cannot move junk email to Bulk Mail folder in Yahoo, greyed out

    I've searched but so far no luck.  Ever since I added my two Yahoo email accounts on my iPhone 4, I cannot seem to send junk email from my inbox to my Bulk Mail folder, it is greyed out.  First off, I've confirmed that the Bulk Mail folder on my iPhone is the same as my Spam folder in Yahoo mail on the desktop.  I can see the same emails in both folders.  Anyone have the same experience and found a way to correct this, or is this just a Yahoo limitation?

    I am having the same problem, but I'm not very clear on how to follow the steps.
    went to my yahoo account in IOS;
    hit edit, hit "new mailbox" at the bottom right corner of the screen;
    entered a name;
    below that, it has "Mailbox Location", I opened it;
    it list all my personal folders, I am stuck here.
    How do I "point the mailbox location to the Bulk Mail folder", as instructed? Am I missing a step?
    This is for iPhone 4S, with the latest released version. Thank you!

  • All mail going into spam folder

    After upgrading to Lion all mail going straight to spam folder, even the addresses saved in address book.  Any suggestions on how to fix?

    Is the folder actually called "Spam" or do you mean the "Junk" folder?
    A "Spam" folder is not part of Mail, while a "Junk" folder is.
    If it is going to "Junk" then check for any Rules in Mail preferences that might be causing it. If there aren't any, try Resetting the Junk email filters in the Junk Mail tab of preferences.
    If it is "Spam," then check with Gmail or whatever email service you are using that is routing it there at the server level.
