Hello,
As the Vishwanath's provide the article, Exchange 2013 automatically creates several HealthMailbox<guid> objects in Active Directory which are used by Managed Availability to send e-mails through Exchange to verify mail flow every few minutes. These
e-mails are used to do health checks for resources from Frontend Transport role to Hub Transport and health checks on mailbox database resources.

  • Sending mails with attachments is sending some parts in HTM format

I have configured my ME account to Apple Mail. When I send an email with first some text, then i add an picture under the text, and after the picture i add some more text. Then i send the mail to someone.
When that person opens the mail in Outlook on Windows for example, the first text that i typed above the picture is visible in the mail, the picture is added as an jpg attachment, but the text that i typed under the picture is always added in a HTM file
So they don't see the whole mail, only the first end until the picture, the rest is an HTM attachment.
It happens with mails send with Mobile Me, but also with other POP3 accounts.
I already tried to change EDIT - ATTACHMENTS - SEND AS WINDOWS ATTACHMENTS and ATTACHMENTS AT END OF THE MAIL
    Both settings doesn't work.
    Please HELP!!

I was troubleshooting my own issue noted above and tried to send the attachments via gmail's web interface (bypassing Apple Mail). This time, gmail provided an error message stating that the file contained a virus.
Since it was a zip of several Word docs, I saved them as PDFs and then rezipped, and Apple Mail sent them off like a champ.
Evidently, Mail does not have a method for relaying the precise nature of the error message that gmail sends (in this case that the attachment had what gmail thought was a virus). This would be a prime area for some software developers to tackle on a future version of Mail.
By the way, the files almost certainly do not contain viruses; they are extremely old Word Docs that have been on my successive Mac hard drives for at least 9 years. Too old a format for gmail to recognize?
Hope this helps someone who may be having the same trouble.

  • Can't send some email

I am having troubles sending some email. I try to resend it a couple of times, never get an error message, but the email just will not leave my outbox. It even holds up other email that has been written after the one that can't be delivered.
I am currently using version 2.0.8. I am trying to send a message currently that is only 4.1MB in actual size which includes a .pdf attachment. Can anyone help me resolve this issue?
    Thanks,

    You're welcome.
Verify/repair your disk first (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there's enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
    1. Quit Mail if it's running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    4. Move Outbox.mbox to the Trash.
    5. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be "imported". Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it's "importing", but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if it then works

I suspect that you are using the Forwarding option within Workgroup Manager, and this works outside of the postfix alias scheme. I think you should just set those users you are forwarding to, to normal mail users, and put their forwarding rules ALSO in the alias file, so you would have:
    MAILER-DAEMON: postmaster
    postmaster: alex,yong
    alex: [email protected]
That should do it. You really have to commit to either using Workgroup Manager or Postfix in their entirety. They don't really work too nicely in conjunction with each other.

  • Exchange 2013 cant send or receive email

    new server with clean install
    static IP
firewall is configured for smtp on port 25
    single exchange 2013 server
checked DNS settings in servers tab
checked mail connectors per MS KB's
deleted all connectors and rebuilt only 1 send and 1 receive connector

Can users send email to each other, in house? Is the Exchange Server part of a domain, if so, what OS is the Domain Controller? Check list to run through:
    1. Port 25 is forwarded to Exchange Server IP address
    2. Send Connector is using MX Records and using * for the domains
    3. Receive Connector has the appropriate domain listed for the Accepted Domains, ie. Contoso.com not just .local
    4. mailbox username convention has been specified and you clicked the "Apply" link to the right after creating the mailbox username policy
    5. After the above, go into Services and restart the Exchange Mailbox Store

  • Mirgating ro exchange 2013 cant send email internally

    Greetings,
I'm in the process of migrating our exchange 2010 environment to 213 Here is our current setup
2 2010 Exchange servers EX2010-01  (MB, CAS, TRANSPORT)  EX2010-02 (MB) we have a DAG between 2 servers
    I've installed 2 2013 Exchange servers EX2013-01 (MB,CAS) and EX2013-02 (MB-CAS) and created a DAG between 2 servers
I was able to successfully migrate one of the test mailboxes from 2010 to 2013 and added both 2013 servers to send connectors.  I'm able to connect to Outlook/OWA on the LAN and send/receive emails to external accounts.  I'm also able to receive
email from internal accounts.  However I'm not able to send emails from Outlook to local users that are still connected to the old Exchange 2010.  Looks like email goes out and showing in sent folder but never gets delivered to the local recipients
I checked exchange tracking log and I'm able to send email to myself by anyone else internally is showing as "submit storedriver"

    Hi Alex,
According to your description, my understanding is that you cannot send email from the mailbox on exchange 2013 to the mailbox on exchange 2010, right?
Did you get any NDR message when you send email to internal user?
In addition, please check the permission of receive connector on exchange 2010 server :

  • How to configure AD on windows 2012 server for Exchange 2013 internal and external email flow

    Dear Experts,
I have to configure exchange 2013 on Windows server 2012 STD. Company has registered Static IP addresses and can get the MX record pointing to any of this Static IP.
The registered domain name is e.g.  contoso.com.
    a. What should I use as domain name on AD? contoso.com or contoso.local
    b. Is it recommended to have two different servers  for AD and Exchange?
    c. What should be my connector settings for mail flow?
    d. how can I set 2 email servers in company for load balancing?

    Hi,
a, I suggest use contoso.com as domain name. It is convenient to add urls into our certificate for internal and external mail flow.
    b, Recommended that installing AD
and Exchange Server on two separate
Servers. If Exchange Server downed unfortunately, it can prevent AD server from crushing at the same time.

  • Exchange server cannot send outgoing email

We are experiencing some issue with the outgoing email , we found out that some email cannot reach our client email.
if the customer is using exchange server, it seems there is no issue.
However, if customers use other server.. like lotus or notes,,etc, there are issues.

Can you send to a Gmail or Hotmail account?
Otherwise, SMTP traffic to outside clients should not depend on any sort of password replication.
Even if the partner was using something like mutual TLS (unlikely), that has to do with certificates, not passwords.
One thing you could do is enable protocol logging on the Send Connector to see what happens when your Exchange server attempts to talk to the client's messaging system.
Bharat Suneja (MVP) wrote an excellent article on how to enable this and where to find the resulting logs:
    http://exchangepedia.com/2007/05/exchange-server-2007-logging-smtp-protocol-activity.html
Directions for 2010 and 2013 are included.
Now, reading the log can be a challenge but if you need to get to the bottom of this, you may have to make this effort.
EDIT: Of course, if you need help with that, feel free to follow up.

  • Migrated Exchange 2013 server - blocking common emails like netflix and amazon?

We were using Exchange 2010 for years, and recently I upgraded to Exchange 2013 and signed up for Exchange Online Protection over the weekend (all at the same time, upgrade, migration, sign up for EOP, etc.).  Some mail is making it through just fine,
while a lot of email is being blocked.  EOP says the email was "delivered" but MessageTracking on our exchange box says Event ID: FAIL...
I'd like to know more about the FAIL ID... how do I find out what made it fail?  I'm guessing it was a transport rule, but when I got to Mail Flow -> Rules - there is NOTHING there.
    Running "Get-TransportAgent" returns these values:
I disabled the malware agent manually on my box since I'm using the EOP stuff now... how can I see or edit the rules that are in place if they do not show up as rules in the ECP?
It's big name companies like amazon, netflix, etc that are getting blocked... I can't see a reason why they would be blocked now on a migrated server and not on my old server... Can anyone provide some insight?  I'd GREATLY appreciate it!

I would tend to agree with you that you don't need them.

  • Mail / Exchange 2013 weird behaviour?

I’m hoping someone here can help with weird behaviour from Mail which is driving me nuts. It doesn’t appear to be the same problem as the odd Exchange behaviour described in other threads. It appeared about a month back, and I had made no changes to my software or hardware at that time.
I have the latest version of OSX Mail in Mavericks, set up with an Exchange 2013 and iCloud mail accounts. There are no extensions or add-ons running. I have two Macs and two iOS devices on these accounts, all fully updated. The problems exist regardless of which devices are powered up at any one time. Mail is set to download messages automatically.
On both of the Macs I get the same following problems:
    - When new messages arrive, the mailbox notifier indicates the new messages, but they are not shown in the message list. If I select the ‘Exchange’ inbox they are visible, and remain so when I switch back to the combined ‘Inbox’.
    - When I select the ‘Exchange’ inbox, rather than the combined ‘Inbox,’ then after 30 seconds or so the ‘From’ field in the message list changes to ‘To’, so all the senders are shown as my email address.
    - The entire send/receive function seizes up half a dozen times a day, necessitating a Force Quit to restart the app.
    iOS devices work just fine.
Is this in fact the same as the reported Exchange problems, or have I got something else going wrong here? I’ve tried deleting and recreating the account, and also had my hosted Exchange provider take a look, to no avail.
    Many thanks,
    Tobes

    Hi Ivan,
It is really an odd issue. Working for a while, then crash.
According to your description, I found that we suspect it is a certificate issue.
If this issue really related to the certifcate mismatch or something additional, it shouldn't connect to Exchange server, even just for a while (As we
    encountered).
I suggest double check our ECP VD configuration and Authentication method. Steps as below:
    1. Please try to re-build ECP Virtual Directory, commands as below:
    a. To remove current ECP VD:
Remove-EcpVirtualDirectory -Identity "Server01\ecp (default Web site)"
    b. To check whether the Remove operation completed successfully:
    Get-EcpVirtualDirectory -Server Server01
    c. To create a new ECP VD:
    New-EcpVirtualDirectory -Server SERVER01 -ExternalURL https://mail.contoso.com/ecp -InternalURL
    https://mail.contoso.com/ecp
    2. Please verify that the Microsoft Forms Based Authentication service is running on all Exchange servers.
    a. To check:
    Get-EcpVirtualDirectory -Server <server name> | fl *auth*
    b. To enable:
Set-EcpVirtualDirectory -Identity "Server01\ecp (default Web site)" -FormsAuthentication
    $true
    3. Please also make sure the remote apps are all installing the trusted certificate.
    4. Please also collect detailed App logs or error message in event viewer for the further troubleshooting.
Maybe I have not enough experiences, I am not sure whether the logs above that we provided is useful. Maybe others have different opinions.
    Hope it is helpful
    Thanks

  • Exchange 2013 stops receiving external email after about 8 hours

    Hello,
Just installed 2013 excahnge server 3 days ago. We noticed after the first night that we did not receive any external emails throughout the night.  I could not find anything wrong with receive connectors.  Telnet works internally when this
happens but NO access from public side testing with telnet.  After I reboot the exchange server everything functions just fine and normal for about 8 hours until it happens again.
I dont know what to check or look for at this point.  Very new to exchange 2013.  Any kind of advice would be helpful at this time.
It is not a firewall issue.  Same firewall and set of rules that we use for other/old mail servers.  We only have 1 exchange server that has all roles.
    Lead Pusher

OK... Did alot of testing and spent some time with Microsoft's support on the phone.
I believe there is actually two problems going on in this thread.
    1. Exchange 2013 Admins that have changed the default receive connectors are experiencing a conflict on the scope settings. Make sure that none of the receive connectors are using the same ports, and that you have not modified the security settings in anyway
unless you really know what you are doing.
If you are unsure of what the settings should be after you have change them, the only suggestion I have right now, (as I have not taken the time to do screen shots or write down all the default settings) is to install Exchange 2013 on a virtual machine and
look at them, then change back the settings that do not match.
    2. The Malware Agent has a flaw that is causing the the Microsoft Exchange Transport service to endlessly wait on the Malware Agent to process a message that it just can't handle. (Two reboots of the entire server may be needed to clear this, or sometimes
you can get away with restarting the Microsoft Exchange EdgeSync service.)
The Microsoft technician had me perform a sequence of steps that highlighted this. To see if this is infact your problem you can perform the following steps.
    A)  Once the Exchange server stops processing messages, figure out the rough time it stopped processing messages.
    B)  Open the event viewer.
    C)  Under "Windows Logs", right click "Application", select "Filter Current Log...", check "Warning" and "Error", then click "OK".
    D) Scroll down the log to the rough time that your Exchange Server stopped processing messages. You are looking for a slew of errors about the same time from "MSExchange Extensibility" (1051), "MSExchange Transport" (9201), "MSExchange
Transport" (9201), "MSExchange Extensibility" (1056), "MSExchangeTransport" (10003), and "MSExchange Common" (4999).
It is the "MSExchangeTransport" (10003) that I believe is the real problem. The Microsoft technician agreed. He did not want to spectulate as to exactly what was going on, but it seems to me that since he had me disable the "Malware Agent"
for now, that it is indeed the problem.
    E) So.... Open the Exchange Management Console and type "Disable-TransportAgent", followed by enter. It will prompt "Supply values for the following parameters:". Enter "Malware Agent", press enter again. Type "A",
    for yes to all.
    or
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150526.aspx"
    F) Go to run, enter "services.msc". On the window that opens, find "Micorosoft Exchange Transport" and restart it.
I know this is NOT a fix, but a work around that is less than desired as the Malware Agent is a filter to keep unwanted emails out. I highly recommend running some sort of 3rd party spam/Malware filter that has been fully tested to run with Exchange
    2013 if you do this.
Microsoft is to contact me back once they can figure out why this is happening, and I believe in the end a patch for Exchange 2013 will be produce to correct the problem.
In the mean time.... don't waste your money on paying Micorosoft for support, as I have already done this.
For the individuals who say they are not experiencing trouble, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that either you have a 3rd party software program that is filtering the mail before it reaches the Malware Agent, you have disabled the Malware Agent,
or you are using another mail server to forward email to your Exchange 2013 server. With either of these cases you are much less likely to see this problem.
One last issue that a few people may be experiencing, is Exchange 2013, running on Server 2012 that is a VM. Several VM setups have a bug with the VM NIC management interface and Windows Server if you are using the same NIC for both. For example Xen
Server 5.6 and XEN XCP both have this bug. There is an patch for XEN Server 5.6, but so far nothing for Xen XCP.
I have spent many hours trying to figure my problems with Exchange 2013 and I will not swear that my entire post is correct, but I have gotten very much closer to a stable mail server after much work. If you feel that anything is incorrect, please reply
back and let me know why, so that we may all benifit.
P.S. Sorry for the mis-spellings and what not, I am very tired at the moment, and was forced to use explorer, because this site is not liking Chrome at the moment. (Will not let me login)
