Mail exchange server

Does Mac OS X Server offer an email exchange like MS Exchange??
i want to change to mac server.. i need push email to desktops and iphones as well as over the air sync for calender, mail and contacts.
can anyone shed any light on this for me?

There is a built in mail-server in OS X server but it's not comparable to Exchange (it is however free!). If you are looking for similarish products on the mac then take a look at http://www.kerio.com (Connect 7.2) or http://www.stalker.com (Communigate Pro).. Kerio is probably your best bet as it works with a broader range of email clients and is also slightly cheaper.

Mail, Exchange Server, attachment size

Hi all - I encounter problems while sending mail messages with attachments larger than 10 MB from Mountain Lion Mail (Version 6.3) via Exchange Server (Version 8.1.240.0).
Using OWA light this works fine...
Receiving mails with larger attachments also works fine...
Colleagues using their Windows PC also do not encounter any problems

In addition to winnie suggestions , please have a look in to the following things.
1.On the error message , Just check about the generating server .Is that the server which is generated that error message is residing on your end else it is the server on the recipient end.
2.We can also check what is the maximum size of message which can be received by the server on the recipient end.

Then you will get some ouputs for the above command.On the output please check the below mentioned part.
250-SIZE
Along with the verb 250-SIZE you can also came to know the maximum size of message that can be received by the destination server.

Web Mail Exchange Server

I just configured my intranet exchange server alongside Server 2012.
Presently, I can successfully send mail to public web mails but on the other hand,
my web mail cant receive mail from the public. I even tried giving it a public IP; still nothing happens.

OSX Mail Server as a Mail Exchange server

Is it possible to set up postfix to be a mail exchange/mail fallover?
I've been trying to get postfix to allow mail to be sent to the proper domain when my main mailserver is overloaded. The mail does get passed to my osx mail server but the mail server rejects the mail saying it cannot be relayed.
I've tried adding the domain to local host aliases but then it tries to look for a local mailbox for that domain. All I need it to do is send the mail to where it needs to go.
How can I do this?

Cannot Connect to Mail Exchange Server Today

I updated to 10.6.4 last night. This morning I cannot access my email from my Mac from my company Exchange Server. I can do so from my iPhone. I assume something went wrong with the update--don't know. I have had the IT guy here at my computer this morning and he cannot figure out what is wrong. He tried to set up an Exchange email account for his own account from my computer but that failed also. Any ideas?

The problem has been corrected when our IT guy reset the IIS Admin Service on the Exchange Server.

Mail & Exchange Server - app icon says there's unread mail, but there isn't

Hi folks,
I upgraded to Snow Leopard a while ago and dragged along my hosted Exchange account (myhostedsolution.com) which I used to access via my iPhone & Entourage. With 10.6 I naturally switched over to Mail.app.
Now sometimes I get this odd bug: The Mail.App icon in the docks says there's one unread message (indicated by a red circle and the number one in it) however there is no new email in any of my folders. I checked everything Spam, Trash...
- I have no rules or smart folders set up
- my iPhone correctly states that there's no new mail on that account
My life may not depend on it but it's just one huge annoyance..
Help anyone?

I can corroborate this. Fully updated snow leopard, with an Exchange 2007 account. Office and home machines configured alike. After a day at work, receiving, reading, deleting mail, and leaving no unread messages in the inbox, the home machine shows unread messages next to the Exchange inbox, and on its dock icon, but there are no unread messages in the inbox. Quitting and relaunching mail causes it to show no unread messages.
As the previous poster noted, this is a real annoyance.

Internal and External Mail Exchange servers server not communicating with IronPort

I have setup external mail exchange server and an internal mail exchange server to test out ironport, those two are not communicating via IronPort neither are they both recieving eachothers sent messages in their inbox, i have setup a smart host in both of those servers to point to ironport but thats still of no help. I have two smtp routes setup as well one's recieving domain: dummy.local which is external and its destination host: softheon.local which is internal which means its smart host is pointing to ironport's data 1. Is there something that im missing which is not letting these two mail exchange servers connect to each other as well as connect with the ironport to catch the msgs being sent

Are you trying to relay through the appliance, or just email the appliance?
If trying to relay through the appliance, make sure the IP address of your exchange server is added to the RELAYLIST under the HAT (host access table) located under Mail Policies Tab - Host Access Table. Click on the RELAYLIST and add the IP - submit and commit changes.
If you are just trying to email the appliance, you may be getting dropped at the handshake level based on reputation (or lack thereoff).
From your exchange boxes, open up a command prompt and telnet to the ironport on port 25 and initiate a command line email.
So:
telnet IP-OF-IRONPORT 25 (hit enter, you should connect up and see the IronPort banner)
helo (type helo - from here you'll probably get dropped by the IronPort)
mail from: [email protected] (if you dont get dropped put in your email address)
rcpt to: [email protected] (put in the other email address)
data (type data and hit enter)
This is a test. (type anything, this is the message body)
. (when done typing, type a single . (period) and hit enter. The email should send if you got that far.
You most likely need to add the IP addresses of your exchagne boxes to the WHITELIST under the HAT to resolve any reputation issues from your test exchange boxes.

"This message could not be sent. Try sending the message again later, or contact your network administrator. Your server administrator has limited the number of items you can open simultaneously.
Try closing messages you have opened or removing attachments and images from unsent messages you are composing. Error is [0x80040305-0x0004de-0x00054a]"

1) Disable TCPChimney and RSS on CAS and Mailbox Servers by running below commands
netsh int tcp set global chimney=disabled
netsh int tcp set global rss=disabled
2) Disable unwanted Add-Ins in outlook that may open many sessions
3) If above steps doesnt resolve, you can delete existing outlook profile and create new Outlook online profile

IPhone deletes mail on Exchange server - how to uncouple?

Whenever I delete company mail on my iPhone the mail is deleted from the Exchange server.
Where can I toggle this? I want the mail to stay visible from my Mac but be cleared off my iPhone.

You cannot. Exchange servers operate just like IMAP - the mail lives on the server, and a local copy is synced/cached. If you make a change (like deleting a message) on one device, that change is reflected on the server (assuming you're connected to the internet), and thus on all devices.
One option might be to create a different folder (in Mail on the Mac, for example, but on the Exchange account not local so the phone can access it) - call it Read Mail or something like that. Then, on the iPhone move emails from your Inbox to that folder instead of deleting them.

I HAD two accounts because of this problem. I completely removed the problem account from the Apple Mail client. Guess what is happening?? That's right - Mail is still sending from the other account that no longer exists on my computer, and I have absolutely no idea how this is happening. This is incredibly frustrating. When a recipient chooses to reply to my message, quite often I won't get it now because it is going to the other account that has now been deleted from my system. COME ON APPLE!!! WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THIS???

How do I set up e-mail with an exchange server?

My father works as the IT Manager of a small, privately owned company that uses an Exchange Server for e-mail and the like. A co-worker of his recently bought an iPhone 4 and desperately needs him to set up her e-mail to be used on the new phone. Luckily I have an iPhone 4 myself so he's practicing on my phone before going to her. But, unfortunately, the phone will not accept the Exchanger Server he's trying to use. IMAP is already open on their server so we can't figure out why it won't allow him to connect via my phone.
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? This needs to be resolved by 9PM EST!!

Errors between Mail 5 inbox and Server inbox on the Exchange Server

Hi,
I upgraded to Lion recently and it seems that the Mail application struggles with the Exchange interface (although it was already the case for Snow Leopard).
Bottom line there are some email messages in my Mail inbox, which in principle mirrors the inbox on the Exchange server, which are not on the server anymore but still appears in the Inbox. The main problems is if I want to delete such message, I get an error message saying the the "message can nto be moved to Trash". Logically, since it is not on the server it is by extension not in the inbox, but it seems that a duplicate of messages gets stuck in the Mail application. Problem is that now they can;t be moved.
I restarted the application to restart the synchornisation, and still messages appears on my Mac but do not exists even on the server.
Has anyone has tips on how to get rid of these emails?
