Mail folders not alphabetical

After upgrading to Mavericks, my carefully organized Mail folders are no longer in alphabetical order. This is for a Gmail account. The folders appear to be in a random order, such as "last folder accessed" or something like that.
I have looked at other posts on this Mail/alphabetical issue but have not yet found a solution (checking and unchecking "enable this account" does not affect the alphabetizing of the folder listing). Can anyone describe a solution to get the Mail folder listing back into alphabetical order?

Unfortunately Apple don't give a flying fig that they cause so many problems. We are the unpaid testing bed whilst they pick up the money. Mavericks has the right name for a very undeveloped and compromised OS. Apple may see this as a brave new world trying to make a platform work on phones, iPads, tablets and desktops but it is just full of holes which we have to spend our time altering settings and losing features that always worked before. I have never come across such an arrogant comnpany that have such little regard for their customers and just do not bother to fix issues. This is not new. There are countless times in the past when fixes have been promised by Apple but they have simply not delivered them. Everything is on their terms. No answers on these forums although, Apple monitor them and when you supply feedback via Mail toolbar or through the Apple website there is absolutely no feedbacd from them. It is a ridiculous situation to push out badly designed and compromised software and leave everyone struggling to use platforms that previously worked really well. I am not best pleased.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Windows Live & Yahoo Plus mail folders not showing in Mail

I use 4 different mail services. For each email address I have, I created custom folders where i get filtered messages. For instance I receive facebook update mails in a separate folder I created in my Windows Live mail. Same goes for different addresses, different folders. This helps me keep things organized and fairly simple.
Now, inside Apple Mail, in the left column, Gmail and AOL have created sort of a secondary extended mailbox that contain all the custom folders I created on the provider's webpage.
On the other hand, Yahoo Plus and Windows Live didn't get as lucky, and apart from the fact that it took me quite a while to realize I'm missing quite a lot of mail, I had to give up all my filters on Yahoo and Live so that all messages get delivered in the main inbox and successfully forwarded to Apple Mail.
Question is :
Does anyone know why am I not getting the folders in Apple Mail ? Or how to set up either the mail options or the Apple Mail to make that happen and work like the other two ?

Very strange. When I reopen mail it sees all mailboxes for a few seconds, then refreshes (I guess) and half of them disappear. When I create or delete a mailbox all mailboxes show. I am forced to either create or delete a mailbox on each restart of mail. (only osx 10.3.9 mail client, not clients on linux or windows.)

My filed mail folders not restored, but I have them on another HD can I move them over ?

OK ... this was my own fault (owning up)
I took backup with Mozback up .. but it did not backup my filed/stored mail.
So after a clean install of OS when I retored profile email OK and inbox but none of my filed mails form Local folders.
However previously they were on another HDD ... so I do have access to them all.
i.e they are in:
E:\Users\Rick-old\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\20619x3p.default\Mail
there are 3 folders in that Mail folder all containing what appear to be valid mails.
My current new Thunderbird install mail folders are in:
C:\Users\Rick\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\4ttn729w.default\Mail

Can I just move them over, or is there a correct way to do it to ensure I don't mess up folder structure or mail dates.

is the home of Local Folders
copying one lot over the other with Thunderbird closed will replace one with the other.

2 new mail folders not behaving as I'd like

Hello all,
my wife and I share a computer at home, and we both use the same email account. We have created 2 separate email folders for her (just the simple type folders), one for in emails and one for out going emails (sent emails). We try to set up the columns in each of her two folders to display the correct information, but when we change one folder, the other folder shows the same headings in the columns. For the In Box folder, we would like headings for date received, subject, and who the email is from. For her sent box, we would like headings for date sent, subject, and who the email is sent to. But if we set up the in box correctly, the out box shows the same headings as the in box, and vice versa. The error only shows itself after you close the mail window and open it again.
We are using Mail 2.1.3 with Mac OS X 10.4.11 on a G4 Quicksilver 1.25 DP.

Hi Tajuddin -- I just did all of this (not for the first time!) and it's not working. All of the characters (well beyond what will actually fit on a line of the textarea) are kept on that line. The only way to get the cursor to the second line is by pressing 'enter'. I'm curious about the use of "nowrap". It seems to me that I DO want the text to wrap to the next line. Just like this data entry field on the forum does.
Is it possible, somehow, that the item is corrupted? Do I need to delete/recreate it, setting the attributes as you've told me to?

Mail Folders not visible?

I have created a new mail account (POP / BTInternet) which works fine. However when I select this account, there are no folders e.g. draft / sent / trash etc. I also have a gmail account where these folders appear okay. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you are accessing your Gmail account as an IMAP account with the iPhone's mail client. All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account are available automatically with the email client used to access the account.
As already provided, when creating a POP account with the iPhone's mail client, the account's Drafts, Sent, and Trash mailboxes will not be created until the function is used by the account. Save a draft with the account, and the account's Drafts mailbox will be created. Send a message with the account and the account's Sent mailbox will be created, and the account's Trash mailbox won't be created until you select a message to be deleted.

Yahoo mail folders not updated automatically

I have configured my yahoo mail box on the new iPad. I have a lot of folders in yahoo mail, which do not get updated with new mail on the iPad, like they do on the web. Is there any way to make this work?

Had same problem. Seems that a specific email is preventing loading. Was able to clear by going to Yahoo mail in iPad Safari and puling up and down on mail folder until showed all mail from today and back beyond the date of the stuck email date. Once email for the previously stuck folder showed all mail in iPad Safari, iPad mail app email folder showed all current email also.

ICloud mail folders not syncing on iPhone

I have set up in iCloud various filters to direct my incoming mail into specified folders for school, work, etc. However, only unfiltered mail that goes into my main inbox folder gives me a notification on my iPhone. To get mail in the other folders, I need to manually open them and let the messages download. Is there any way to select which folders push to my iPhone?

Separate E-mail folders not getting created

I have 8520 model. I have one BES e-mail (work mail) and 3 BIS emails registered. Currently my work mails are showing up in a separate folder with Desktop icon and mails from all BIS accounts are showing up together in a single folder. I am not getting a separate folder for each of my BIS e-mail id. Please guide how to configure it to have separate folder for each BIS account.

Pls see whether the attribute ITS_DEST is maintained in the Org structure attributes for all users who recieve the notififcation in their external mail.
In SRM most of the email notification sent out contain URL links in their mail body. This URL in most cases is picked up from the user attributes. Here they play a very vital role.
Also check whether a valid external mail ID is maintained for the user in SU01 .Also all the external mails sent from SRM to external mail ID's can be seen in trascn SOST.Do you see any entries there for the SC?

Mail Folders Not Syncing - emails gone!

Hi all,
Tonight while fetching new email, I watched all of my previously downloaded emails disappear. Email in the sent folder also disappeared. I logged into my MacBook thinking the mail server could be down, but alas all emails and even new ones were present in my inbox. I did a hard reset and even deleted the email account (then created a new one again). Nothing has worked in terms of getting mail back on my phone. I sent a test email to myself from the phone but I couldn't retrieve it unless I logged in with my MacBook. Interestingly enough, the test email shows up in the "sent" folder. Any suggestions?

If the server is down, as I said, this is the symptom you would see. You would also lose calendar and contacts. This will only happen if the Exchange server is down but the ActiveSync "front end" was not shut down first. ActiveSync then thinks you have no mail, contacts, or calendar. It is operator error at the Exchange server to let this happen.

BT Mail Folders not updating on outlook

Thank you Licquorice. When I clicked on the folder tab, I had to subscribe to the new folder and unchecked the box that said only sinc to subscribed folders. All sorted now

Yosemite: Mail folders moved and messages disappear

OS X 10.10.1 on a Mac Mini 2.6 GHz, 8gb RAM, 1tb HD, Gmail setup as IMAP in Mail, personal mail folders sorted alphabetically
Intermittently while moving Inbox messages to personal folders, or opening messages in personal folders, the folders will drop to the bottom of the folder list and messages within the folders will disappear. Rebuilding the mailbox will usually make the messages appear, however the personal folders have to be moved back to their original positions. These instances have occurred frequently enough to be annoying and time wasting. Please advise. Thanks.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
          Envelope Index
          ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

Mail folders in Mac Mail do not align in order

My mac mail 7.3 running on my macbook air OSX 10.9.5 will not align new folders in alphabetical order. It used to a few years ago, but now every time I add a new mail folder, it just gets placed randomly. My Mac consultant says its just a weakness with mac mail, but I find it hard to believe that such a simple task would be ignored by apple. Anyone have any ideas? thanks

Yes, what I think may be the case here is that adding a mailbox shows as "On My Mac" so OP is looking for a way to store "Off his Mac". You've also provided a solution for that but may be just a basic misunderstanding of the way Mail works.
