Mail fonts keep changing

I type an email using Helvetica or Arial, send it off and all looks fine.  When I see a copy of the email in someone's response my email looks terrible as the fonts have all changed to some other type like Times Roman or some other similar ugly font.
I can't fathom why this would happen, has anyone got any ideas as this is very frustrating?

You can spedify fonts all you like, and the only ones you can really control are your incoming email message fonts.  You can try to control the outgoing fonts, but the recipient's preferences on reading their emails will supuercede your appearance wishes.  IMHO.

  • Firefox fonts keep changing colors.

When I go to a webpage and try to start reading.......the text starts changing colors and the font changes to weird looking symbols, like an alien font and can not be read. If I highlight the text.....it will correct....but will return to alien within a min. But the biggest problem with firefox is it's inability to scroll smoothly. I have used firefox for about six yrs. now and this problem has never been fixed. I have used firefox on many hardware platforms and many windows operating systems.....firefox has always had a horrible scroll. I appreciate any help...but have tried the option settings for yrs. now to no avail. I'm afraid my frustration will take me to a different browser.

Thank you very much. That seems to work very well. I really do appreciate it. The same thing has been going on with my girlfriend's rig. I also found this...."I was trying to get the same impression of ease and speed Chrome scroll has from Firefox 17 @ Linux, AMD64 and after trying several setups here is how to make your Firefox to give even better feel than Chrome:
    1. Set mousewheel.min_line_scroll_amount to 40 (WAS 5)
That was a great start though Firefox scroll will still appeared jerky. (Chrome has that value lower, but I liked it at 40)
    2. Set general.smoothScroll and general.smoothScroll.pages to false
Smooth scrolling is bad for the IT professionals giving extra pressure to the eyes and Chrome doesn't use it in the same way as Firefox does. Now we're close but still all the pages in tabs are a bit jerky.
    3. And now the final ingredient. It appears that all the hieratic scroll was caused by image discard check routine. Do not turn it off just set image.mem.min_discard_timeout_ms to something really large, I set mine to 2100000000 (WAS 10000)
After that increase image.mem.max_decoded_image_kb to at least 512K (WAS 256000)
Done. In my case (Gentoo, amd64) this setup changed how the page within tab scrolls (very smooth now), how FF switches between tabs (it's now very smooth too, chrome like) and overall impression of how all the opened tabs are performing was increased. May be the change is not same within different systems but it's worth a try if you want to improve FF responsiveness. "
I tried that and it seems to tame the scrolling down quite a bit. Not sure what it all does....but it allows me to keep firefox and I do thank you.

  • Convert word document to PDF - FONT keeps changing

    Good afternoon,
I am the coordinator of the CRC Manjimup, I have been working on our business plan.  Under our marketing brand style guide I have to use a font purchased on the internet and added to my computer font...I am very concerned as if I try to convert the file to PDF it changes the font.

  • Environment fonts keep changing back to default

In order for my UIs to look good on all my deployed systems (usually windows xp or 7) I change all the environmental fonts (Tools>Options>Environmental>Fonts) to Tahoma (and, of course, set the init file to use tahoma for all these fonts).  Lately I've been noticing that every once in a while I will open LabVIEW and the fonts will be changed back to their defaults.  Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone have a good work around?  It is frustrating because I usually don't notice this has happened until I've finished aligning multiple elements and then realize I have to change the font and align them again.
Note: I'm developing in LabVIEW 2012 on a Windows 7 pc.

    Hey Gollum,
I found what seems to be causing your issue. There is a bug in LabVIEW 2010 and later that causes custom font tokens to be overwritten when any other change occurs in the LabVIEW.ini file. The Corrective Action Request (CAR) ID Number is 256978. The issue was fixed in LabVIEW 2013 (http://www.ni.com/white-paper/14541/en/).

  • TS3276 I can't send an e-mail.  My status has mail boxes online, but the mail preferences keeps changing outgoing servers to (offline). What do I do?

I can't send an e-mail. My status has mail boxes online, but but the mail preferences changes the outgoing servers to (offline).  What do I do?

Please describe in detail what happened when you took all the applicable steps in the support article that led you here. That's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem.

  • IMail keeps changing outgoing mail server to one that is offline

Since installing Lion, my outgoing mail server keeps changing to [email protected], which always shows up as offline.  I keep changing it to stmp.me.com:deannanel and check "use only this server" to get my mail sent.
Next time I try to send mail, the outgoing server has changed back and mail cannot be sent.
    What is going on?

IMAP is enabled at GoogleMail (Login with WebBrowser) and you have read the installation manual? Normaly it works fine, creating the Google Account with Internet accounts from system preferences.
Like the incoming server, all outgoing server must have different usernames (your email addresses) and passwords. Check the correct assignment for each email account.

  • Mail SMTP-server changing the port by itself!

    Hi!
My mail app keeps changing the smtp port from 25 to 547! I dont know how i can fix this..! It happens even though i havent put my macbook pro to sleep, over intervals of a couple of hours. Ive assigned mail to use a custom port 25 because for some reason it doesnt use port 25 when assigned to "Use default ports"..
Any ideas of how to fix? Couldnt find any case like it on the interwebs.. :/
    -Tormod

    Hi!
I have my own domain, so port 25 works for that mailaccount, none of the others..

  • Font settings keep changing when I restart Mail

I've noticed over the past few days that whenever I restart Mail, my font settings keep changing, so I have to keep going back in and adjusting them.
Anyone else having this problem, or know how to fix it?
I did a search in this forum, but didn't see anything about this.
    Thanks!

I should clarify that this happens after I restart my computer, then open Mail. If I close Mail, then reopen it, without restarting, then this does not happen.

  • Is there any way to turn off the auto formatting in Pages?  I just want to type a letter and add pictures and titles, and Pages keeps changing font sizes and doesn't let me "Do it my way".  I HATE this!

Is there any way to turn off the auto formatting in Pages?  I'm using a blank document, so I figured I could write my letter and add pictures any way I wanted to.  But NO!  Pages keeps changing the font size!  I typed a large heading as a title, and when I try to change to a smaller font for the body of the letter, it changes the size back to the larger size!  I am getting SO FRUSTRATED!  I've spent over an hour trying to get the stupid program to let me just type my letter!  Can anyone help?

The only one left is the "unsubmitted text" dialogue, which would not be a problem if I were not a Facebook user; after updating the "Richard is..." field (which does not require a manual submit to actually send) I get the above message. This is obviously Safari just not realising that the info has been sent and is therefore (I imagine) one for Apple themselves to answer!!
You're welcome Rich. Glad to help.
Not being a Facebook User, I'm not sure how to respond to the error situation. However, this would be something to report to Apple as a bug via the Safari Menu. First, open to the page in question, then select "Report Bugs to Apple".

I also upgraded to Lion and do have font problems in Mail. Just in some mails, including my own signature.
I just updated today with 10.7.1, but still have the font problem.
Does anyone know if Apple will solve this?

  • IPhoto export to Mail, font changes ?

When exporting to Mail or adding via photo browser, I want to add captions. Only the first pic has my standard mail font of 18, all other pics go down to 12.5 unless I change font sizes with each picture. How to solve this? Regards, Duncan

I get 12 point font regardless of what I set as the default or whether it's plain text or Rich Text. It's a moot question because the recipient will see whatever they have setup as the default font and size on their end.

  • Font size changes randomly inside mail received (sent with Mac Mail)

Hello! Here is a random issue on Mac Mail Leopard, seems few people already experimented the issue but no one found a correct solution:
When i send a mail to somebody, we can randomly notice a change of the font size (from 9px to 12px) in the received mail. This appears mostly in sentences after others sentences containing some bold text.
Note that I use the Calibri font, which is correctly set for the whole mail.
Appart from starting to write inside the signature to avoid any problem, i didn't find a way yet to fix that issue. But I imagine that if it would be a bug in the software, Apple would have fix it for decades ?..
So anyone could give an explanation? Thank u!

Thanks baltwo and Tom. I'll try sending as a PDF file as well.
Also, I did a test per Tom's instructions about reformatting text. First, I copied text from another email and then pasted it in a new message. I highlighted all the text where I wanted to increase the text size and left one paragraph unchanged.
I sent the email to the recipient that's having these issues where she replied back with my forwarded email.
All the text where I increased the point size shrunk and the text that I left alone was actually okay - Weird! I also noticed that the font style changed on their end. By the way, the recipient uses Microsoft Outlook as their email browser.

  • Mail font changes when i send to a pc.  how to stop this from happening?

My mail font changes when I send to a PC and looks unprofessional.  How can I stop this from happening?

You have no control over the way a mail client displays the body of your message. If you want control, send a PDF or HTML attachment.

  • Mail's column widths keep changing

I know similar topics have been posted, but most of them quickly digress to other issues. My issue is that column widths in mailboxes keep changing. This happens if I go from an Inbox folder to a Sent folder and back to the Inbox folder. It also happens after I do a search.
My Inbox mailbox columns are: flag, unread (which you have to have), attachments, from, subject, date received, date sent, size. The mailbox is sorted by date received.
If I change to a sent mailbox then go back to my Inbox, the date received column is much wider than I set it. If I do a search then go back to my Inbox, the attachments column is much wider and the date received and date sent columns have changed widths as well.
I seems as if this should be a fairly simple task for mail to save column widths for each mailbox. Other email programs do it? Why can't Mail?

Which mailboxes are we actually talking about here? Are individual account mailboxes that lose their viewing settings or are the Inbox, Sent, etc. aggregates that lose them? If the latter, that could mean there is something wrong with the preferences file, and I don't know of a way to try to fix the problem other than re-creating that file:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. Make a backup copy of the HOME/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.
    3. In the Finder, go to HOME/Library/Preferences/. Locate the file com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop (to be deleted if this fixes the problem).
You'll have to set up your non-Mac accounts from scratch all over again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don't. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in HOME/Library/Mail/ when done.
You'll also have to re-configure most of your settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it's enabled.
