Mail for Exchange "System error" try it later N82

Hi dudes,
I´ve installed Mail for Exchnage on my N82 and it worked properly, but since some weeks I´ve the following problem:
Synchronising with the server, Mail synch works, but then calendar, contact synch faild with the message "System error, please try again later".
If I´m focring a complte resynch of all items that works, but this is the only chance to get my caldenar and contacts synched. Does anyone has an idea who to fix that, or is it a problem on the excahnge server?
Thanks a lot,
Rs Oliver

Hi, I was experiencing the same issue with MfE on my N96. For info I am using N96 firmware 30.033 (latest) and MfE 2.09.158 (listed on their site as 2.9.158). I have managed to solve it, but in a really clumsy way. I'm hoping someone with more knowledge of these things can provide a more elegant solution. I have tried removing recurring appointments, and doing a full re-sync as suggested in some threads, but that didn't work.
Firslty, I noticed that contacts and email would sync no problem, and it was the calendar sync that was causing the issue. I created another pst data file, and copied all my calendar appointments to it, then erased all of the appointments on the exchange server. I did a sync, and it worked fine.
I then copied just one appointment over to the server. This time the sync failed.
Thinking it might be this appointment, I copied another over and deleted the first. The sync still failed.
I had read that it is sometimes something to do with recurring appointments (I have no recurring appointments on my calendar) so as a long-shot I opened the solitary apointment added a reccurence to it, removed the reccurence again and saved it. What do you know, it synced!
I then copied 10 more appointments across, and the sync failed again. I went through each one, added a recuurence and removed it and the sync worked great. You only have to do this as far back in your calendar as you sync, i.e. if you sync appointments back 1 month just add and remove reccurences for every appointment back 1 month (and every appointment in the future) and the sync should work ok.
I know this isn't a solution if your future calendar is amazingly full (I have around 300 appts in the fututre, and it took me about an hour to do) but at least I can now get it to sync. If anyone has a more sensible way of doing this, or if this post helps you out please leave a comment.
Thanks.
PS. Just to let you know, I also had the same issue with RoadSync, so it isn't a problem with MfE, but it seems to be a very weird thing with Outlook. This 'solution' got the sync working with both RoadSync and MfE.

    my E71 running S60 Mail For Exchange works fine for email, but as soon as we start syncing calendar, we get this error "System Error. Try again later"
    i have researched further. The phone log shows the sync falls over on outlook recurring appointments. Some threads suggest the offending appts are those without end dates and adding them will fix it, but this is not correct. Our recurring appointments are created in Maximizer and synced to Outlook. They all have end dates which show in both Maximizer and Outlook.
    The log message on phone is: "Failed to store calendar entry in device database". If you google that you come across the link to another thread
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=messaging&thread.id=7858
    where it seems that MFE simply does not work properly with Outlook calendar recurring appointments and no solution is offered by Nokia. E71's run Symbian S60 and Mail For Exchange is the Nokia offering, which appears to be a derivative of Roadsync. Both appear to have the same shortcoming. Even the latest MFE version, V2.09.158, contains the problem, as we just upgraded on phone to try for a fix.
    We have a fleet of E71's, having reverted to Nokia from Win Mobile devices. We were even looking forward to N97's, but we are now planning to move back to a Windows Mobile device. At least we can see the calendar on these!
    For now, we have to remove calendar syncing on phone and delete all calendar entries, so the phone again syncs for email and contacts.
    Nokia, how about a FIX before your new generation of "Smart Phones" are consigned to the wastebin? Please don't just tell us to change a setting on the server, unless you know it works.
    This is your last chance with us. Time is too precious  to waste on dodgey software.

    More info on this - the  problem appears to relate to only Outlook 2007 and not XP.

  • E71 Mail for Exchange System Error, try again late...

    Hi,
    Please Help!
    I installed MfE 2.7 on my E71, but whenever I try to sync my email and calender, I get a system error.
    It begins to sync the email but after that it doesn't sync the calender and I get the system error. Also each time it tries to sync emails, it retrieves all the mail each time.
    If I sync only the calender, it retrieves all the items and I get a system error. I've pasted the admin log below.
    27/10/2008 10:17:42 start Email sync
    27/10/2008 10:17:53 sync died (11), collection=Email activity=handling commands from server
    27/10/2008 10:22:36 PING Command Requested
    27/10/2008 10:22:42 start Email sync
    27/10/2008 10:23:01 sync died (47), collection=Email activity=handling commands from server
    Does anyone know how to solve this?

    OK - like many on the copius web discussions on this Nokia E71 model/MfE topic I have been getting terminally frustrated with an otherwise great phone.
    A trawl through the websites gave me lots of things to try, but most didn't work.
    Our large corporate IT dept also were left scratching their heads, and resorted to a full reset, which cured the problem briefly, but as with others' experience it soon returned (also having to fully reconfig is a pain in the proverbial). Things suggested on the discussion sites like disabling Tasks synch, or Secure Connection didn't have any effect.
    The fact that most others with the same phone on our system hadn't experienced the problem seemed to hint at it not being a server issue, but something more localised. The apparent fact that 'Emails' did synch OK, but that the process hung on 'Calendar' synch suggested it was a Calendar issue
    One post mentioned issues with no-finish-date recurring appointments in Calendar, so I investigated these. I found that one or two had no end date, so I gave these items one.
    But interestingly, I also found a high proportion of appointments that had been created last year (09) had end dates like 'Wed 31/03/00' when clearly 'Wed 31/03/10' was intended - was this an odd default in Calendar, or just careless typing? The consequences were that Calendar was possibly wrestling with numerous recurring appts with either 100-year durations, or possibly just hanging on the date confusion - is '00' before or after '10'?.
    Therefore, as a precaution, I checked all my recurring appts like this (the procedure may vary according to your browser):-
    - In Calendar, open each recurring appt in turn;
    - Open the series, not just the individual appointment;
    - Check 'Recurrence';
    - Check that an 'End By' date is there, and that it is not '00';
    - Click OK;
    - Click OK again if warned about exceptions;
    - Cick 'Save & Close'.
    Do this to absolutely all recurring appointments in your Calendar.
    Then do a full resynch (Menu/MfE/Synch Mode/Full Resynch etc).
    I didn't hold much hope of any effect, but Lo!, it did work, and now Emails, Contacts, Tasks, and Calendar all synch fine so far, using Menu/MfE/Mail for Exchange/Options/Synchronise.
    I hope this works for others...let me know if it does.

  • N97 Mail for exchange - System Error

    Im setting up my profile on Mail for exchange, entered same deatails that is on my n96, I then
    start to sync and it reads..,
    Connecting...
    Connected.
    then a nice useful message that says system error.
    Ive switched phone of, back on still the same issue
    any ideas?

    I have had this issue with my N95. The problem is the architecture of N series phones. My email works seemlessly on an E65, an E63 and other WinMo phones but not on N95 using MfE. This problem occurs usually when the exchange server tries to push security settings like automatic lock. Automatic Lock, is supported by both E and N series, however N series does not take the enforced security from the Exchange server which is what causes the problem. If you try some public exchange server viz. www.mail2web.com, it works fine with N series phones but not managed exchange like in large organizations.

  • Mail for exchange system error message

    hi,
    I keep repeatedly getting the message of system error, try again. Also, sometimes the settings seem to change on their own.
    I am using nokia e 63
    Any suggestions please.

    The reason why the error posted earlier appeared was due, once again, to folder issues. Some of the standard folders had been moved by the users in earlier versions of Outlook (which still allowed standard folders to be moved) to other folders, i.e. 'Tasks' under 'Journal' and 'Contacts' under 'Inbox'. I recommend that you communicate to users with similar issues (as the log may display different errors) that the folder tree structure needs to be standard. Users who have been exported from older Exchange versions which allowed standard folders to be moved should take extra care.
    Symptoms:
    - MfE connects, downloads policy and applies policy settings, but disconnects before anything else is downloaded. 'System error' may or may not occur. If removing any of the calendar/tasks/contacts from being synced starts the sync process, there is an error in the now unselected folder.
    - The phone syncs correctly, but displays 'Unable to complete command' when trying to create a new email message.

  • Mail for Exchange "System error", "error status re...

    If you are getting a "System error" and admin_log in \MailForExchange directory shows:
    "error status received from server (12)"
    The problem will be seen if you try a manual or interval (every 1 hour, etc) sync *after* you change the folders under 'Inbox' in Outlook. This affects users connected to an Exchange 2007 server.
    The problem does not occur if Outlook folders are changed during 'Always on'.
    Also, if the problem is encountered, MfE will 'fix' itself during the next 'Always on' period.
    Manual sync users are more likely to encounter this.
    You can fix this immediately if you perform a Options--Full_resync.
    If you prefer not to perform a Full_resync because you have lots of data and are concerted about data costs, put MfE into 'Always on', let it sync, and then put it back to Manual.

    Thanks allot.
    This did it for me
    Happy days!!!

  • E71 System error. try again later with MFE 2.7; wo...

    Hi,
    I'm really desperate with MFE 2.7 on my E71. It has the 100.07.76 firmware. I'm getting system error, try again later when it tries to syncrhonise messages. I've not been able to connect at all to the server.
    I've done the same on my N95 with MFE 2.7 with the same settings for connecting to the same exchange server and it works without any problems.
    The exchange server seems to use a wildcard cert and it works fine on the N95.
    How can i get this to work on the E71 ?
    Thanks
    Thierry.

    Oh yeah, about the initial question:
    Try updating your MfE to 2.9.x version which can be downloaded here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/mail-for-exchange
    And also update your phone SW to the latest if possible:

    I am gettign a number of users complaining about the error "Exchange server error. try again later"
    Does anyone have any tips to resolve please
    I have tried the suggestion fro Hazkey
    Could you try the following actions please:
    Open Outlook web access with your PC browser, for example via https: //[your domain]/owa (depending on your network) – and log into your emails.
    In your inbox, select Options (on the top right hand corner of your screen) and then See all Options.
    Select Phone.
    Delete all connections by selecting the respective phone and pressing (X).
    Then just go back to the Mail for Exchange client on your phone and do a sync.
    If above does not help, contact Nokia Support.
    However, I can not see the "options" in outlook web access. My options is a tab on the left at the bottom. How do I see this options in the top right hand corner of the screen?
    Cheers

    Trying to sync my phone with my Google account I have downloaded MfE 3.00.078 on my C5-04. Following the instructions on the Google website I continue to get the error message "System Error, try again later".
    I have tried only syncing one service at a time, removing the account and creating a new one, and uninstalling and reinstalling the application completely. If anyone has any ideas on what the issue might be I would be most appreciative.

    Hi,
    I am just got the Nokia E71, and had installed the Mail for Exchange version 2.0.5(5), and had set all the required configuration (Exchange Server Name, UserName, Passowrd, Domain). But when I do the SYNC, it got the "System Error" from the log, and I check on the "admin_log1.txt", it show that "Body Fetch Message Too Large" error.
    Any ideal on the error ? I have check the Access Point, there is working fine, as I can us the web browser on the phone, and no proxy setting
    I also check all the Exchange configuration setting with using the Windows Mobile PDA phone to do the SYNC with our company Exchange server, it work fine with all the given configuration.
    Please help.
    Thank You very Much.

    Is Mail for exchange working after the update? I am able to setup my company email, but mails are not getting downloaded. I tried entering a wrong password for my company email (after deleting my profile), just to check if mfe is able to connect properly with my company email server. It is able to identify that the email password i entered was incorrect. Also when I enter the correct password, setup finishes successfully. But its not retrieving any emails. I am sure of the settings, since the same settings were working earlier. Only thing i am doubtful about is the port number. Port number by default comes as 443. Does it need to change? Is MFE working for anyone? My company email is ************@hcl.com. Can you pls suggest?

  • Mail for Exchange credential error or corrupted

    Hello everybody. I have a latest firmware update (V 06.41.3.0) Nokia E50 and Mail for Exchange latest update also (1.06) installed on it.
    In my windows installation there are a policy to change password every 30 days and all works fine in my phone after first day I change password in my Windows account for policy reasons. My problem is as follows:
    I have a M4E configuration working correctly. My first syncronisation works fine and I have all my Exchange contacts, Calendar and Mail. This works fine for several times for several hours but suddenly the sync process locks my user account in Windows and I have a message in device noting this situations. After this situation, I call to my Help Desk to unlock user account and all begins to work fine without changing nothing included password credential in M4E.
    Why M4E locks my Windows user account?
    Looks like M4E sometimes doesn't read password correctly...I'm sure that action that lock my Windows account is M4E syncronisation because log in Front-End server has 3 times a HTTP 401 message comming from my device.
    What happen? my account has any problem? what do you think?....any clue will be appreciate...
    Regards
    Daniel

    Hey All, I had these problems:
    07/04/2008 10:53:46 HTTP error code=401
    07/04/2008 10:53:46 HTTP Server Error 401: UnAuthorized
    ...and the exchange administrator sorted it out for me straight away as below;
    It’s the IIS settings that changed. I can only assume that it was some update that was applied but I don’t know who did it.
    The IIS security settings need to be...
    For the Exchange web site and the Microsoft-Server-Activesync site and the OMA site.
    They should be setup for Anonymous access for the ExchWeb site.
    The default domain should be your AD domain name.
    This configuration works.
    A screen capture that describes this is available here:
