Mail for Exchange - two versions in catalog?

Hi,
I just browsed the Nokia catalogues because I´d like to have Mail for Exchange, to be able to directly sync my email and calendar with my company Exchange account. I realized that there are two instances of Mail for Exchange there - same name, same text. There is no way I could discern which one was the newer version. Can anybody help me on that or refer me to a page where I can download the newest version to my PC?
Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Hendikoischnur

  • N95, Mail for Exchange

Hi all, ive updated my N95 to v20 firmware,
Mail for exchange (latest version) is no longer working though, it just sits at idle... any idea's?
    Ta.

    Witch version of MfE?
    Witch version of phone software.
I use Mfe 2.1 with N95-1 ver 20.0.0.15 without any poblem. Used it with previous ver 12.0.5.13.
Have you reinstalled MfE after the phone update?
Have you set it up correctly with sync schemas?Message Edited by cyber_jedi on 28-Nov-200701:35 PM

  • Mail for Exchange 3.00(50) does not keep the alway...

I have an issue with the Nokia Mail for Exchange client version 3.00(50) where the always on connection it is supposed to maintain with the server gets dropped.
I have also encountered this issue with a previous version of the client 2.9.158.
When this occurs the current status of the Mail for Exchange client reads: "Unable to connect. Retrying.
The client then connects and performs a sync every 15 mins and then disconnects immediately when done.  This 15 min cycle repeats, so the phone is not always online, but instead runs on 15min intervals.
The Mail for Exchange log shows the following:

Does anybody know where the HTTP 408 error comes from as I don't believe it comes from the server?
Also can anybody give a reason why the ping is not working and if there is a work around for it?
What is the meaning of the MfE error 15051?

Hi, I am afraid I cannot answer your specific question about the pings / error.  I can confirm I have the same problem on my E71, running the latest firmware 410.21.010 and MFE 3.00.050.
I did some searching and this seems a common fault with 3.00.  Apparently it didnt happen in version 2.7.  I got a version 2.7 and tried for a few hours without problem but didnt do an extensive test as 2.7 doesnt support folders which I need.
The always on connection does appear to work for a while following a reboot but frustrating as hell when it stops because as you say it then only updates every 15 minutes.

  • E71 - Mail for exchange syncs calendar only partly

I'm pretty new to using the Mail for Exchange (latest version from Ovi) application in my E71, had a 3rd party software that handled pim sync before.
Any how, the company has moved from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange 2010 and in that process migrated data from Notes to Exchange. For some reason the Mail for Exchange application syncs only entrys changed or created in Exchange, older entrys migrated from Notes unchanged wont show up in the handset.
I have verified with handsets from other vendors that this is not an server/active sync error, fore example Apples iPhone will sync every entry. How come, anyone has any ideas?

Go to OVI store on your E71 and download Mail for Exchange.

  • Mail for Exchange Missing Functions E71 v E72

    Hi All,
So I have been using an E71 with Mail for Exhcange for some time now and find it is very good.
    However
I have an E72 with Mail for Exhcange already installed on the device BUT it clearly has missing functions whihc I had on the previous version on Mail fo Exchangeo n the E71.
    These are
Comp Directory - Very useful for looking up contacts details from the GAB
View Log in Mail for Exchange. This is useful to see what the error is for a reason why the device may not be syncing with the MS Exchange Server.
Full resync in mail for Exchange. This again useful for support as other users will tell you that if the two systems have got their wires twisted, a full resync can fix the problem!
What version of the software do I have? Helps for future support and upgrades.
So Mr Nokia Software Developer. When can we have these functions added? Do we have to drop this software tool and device....
    MODERATOR'S NOTE:
We have edited your post. Please be advised that feedback on Nokia devices are accepted in the forum provided that they are written in an acceptable manner such as tone and the choice of words.

As far as the version number goes - it's not a misprint, it's just they way Nokia numbering scheme works.  build 2.09 is version 2.9.  Similarly in Nokia Maps build 3.04 is called version 3.4... go figure.

  • Is the N97 Mail for Exchange or MfE 'provisionable...

Background info:  I used to carry two phones, the N95 and the E51.  Before MfE 2.0 came out, MfE was not installable on the N95 (or any N series phones).  So I bought the E51 so that I can use MfE to have my corporate mail pushed to me.  Today, I'm the proud owner of the N97, with MfE 2.9.176 installed.  No more carrying 2 phones, and everything is synchronizing just fine.
Last week, my company announced a new policy regarding mobile devices.  Soon, they will enforce new security policies as available in Exchange 2003 SP2.   This really got me worried, because I spent quite a lot of money in investing in the N97!
We all know that Nokia states that only the E series devices fully support all security policies of Exchange servers.  (Nokia calls this 'provisionable' versus 'non-provisionable' devices.)  But here's the kicker.  In the Mail for Exchange Guide for Administrators (http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/MfE_admin_guide_140709.pdf), in chapter 2, section 2, part 1 titled "Are your devices 'provisionable'?", it states the following:
    Eseries devices are provisionable
Nseries devices previous to S60 3.0 Feature Pack 2 (FP2) are not provisionable
Nseries devices after S60 3.0 FP2 may be provisionable
Supported devices not designated Eseries or Nseries may or may not be provisionable.
Well, that is kind of some good news.  But it left out key information regarding my N97, specifically S60 5.0.  Does anyone know if the N97 can be categorized together with those Nseries devices "after 3.0 FP2"?  Or can anyone identify specifically what security policies/features are provisionable in the N97 device?  This is important because I need to make the case with the IT management to put me in the exception list, if at all possible.  But I don't want to stir up anything until I know exactly what can or cannot be done with the N97.  This will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you very much.

Not only is Nokia's myriad of different web sites each requiring its own login credentials, they also have a myriad of places to go get software.  I have always thought that http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com will have all the latest enterprise software coming from Nokia, but no, that is not the case.  It turns out that http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/download-software/mail-for-exchange is the place to get the latest version.  Just select your device, and it'll give you the download link for the latest.
Just so you know, even http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com doesn't have N97 listed as a device yet.
I really hope Nokia takes this consistency issue seriously just like how they're working on the consolidation of logins...

  • Mail For Exchange Error -15006

10 days ago we updated our microsoft exchange server 2003 to exchange 2007 sp2. All went fine. Almost all 300 cellphones synchronised over the internet without any problem except for two phones. One Nokia E61 and one Nokia E51. From blank i can only synchronise once. When i start synchronising for a second time i get the message "Error in exchange server" (translated)
I upgraded to the latest firmware and the latest mail for exchange version without solving the problem. Changing the account on the phone also did not solve the problem. So the conclusion is that the problem is not in the account.
In the adminlog of the nokia suite, which i installed to troubleshoot the problem, there is a Mail For Exchange Error -15006.
    Anyone have an idea?
    Thanks in advance.

  • E75 Mail for Exchange - absolutely useless

    Hi all,
This is a rant, a big one.
I have been a loyal Nokia user since I was 18 (I'm in my mid 30's now). The nature of my work denoted that it was time to get myself a 'push-mail' phone so when my contract was up with Optus. I opted for the E75. I contemplated a Blackberry (as this is what most of my colleagues use) but being a loyal Nokia user and comfortable with their menus, I thought I would try this new phone. After all, there had been a massive advertising blitz throughout the Australian print media, online and television spruiking the qualities of this phone, specifically it being an "email on your mobile" type of handset. This was about a month and a half ago.
As our IT guy at work was on leave I set the E75 up with my gmail account (and just set work email on autoforward to gmail). It worked like a dream for about three days when it suddenly dropped out. The following day email worked fine ...then dropped out ....then worked fine ...then dropped out for two days. This pattern continued for a week (despite my reconfiguring the settings in-line with advice from both Nokia and Optus technicians AND performing hard resets). In short, the 'email' software on the E75 just plain DOES NOT WORK.
I returned the handset to the store where I got it from and they exchanged it for a new E75. Exactly the same problems as before. I experimented with setting it up with different types of email (hotmail, yahoo, work etc) and the same thing happened. Email would work fine and dandy for a couple of days then it would drop out for half a day or more. The nature of my work denotes that if I put my email address out there and tell colleagues they can get me on my phone, then my phone better work. As such, I stopped giving people the expectation that they could email me on my mobile and to simply call me or SMS me if they needed me.
I have now sought to have this handset returned and am trying to switch my contract over to a Blackberry. The guys at the store where I contracted with Optus have been pretty helpful as they themselves have had numerous problems with the E75 and angry customers. The Optus business managers themselves are apparently refusing to budge on this and as of this afternoon were saying they would not offer me an exchange (even if it meant I would contract for a more expensive phone, ie more money for them).
As such, I am considering my options.
*To lodge a complaint through a dispute resolution/consumer protection body like the NSW Dept of Fair Trading.
Ifyou have been supplied with a faulty product, this body investigates the situation persuant to the NSW Fair Trading Act. It is a bit hard to achieve an actual resolution for yourself here, you simply make a lot of trouble for the other side.
*To file a claim in the NSW Consumer Trader and Tenancy Tribunal.
Decisions here are binding. You would argue that you've been sold a dud product, the faults are easily demonstrable (google E75 email faults and your system will nearly crash due to all the results that come up). This is probably the best option for people without legal representation. It is quite an informal affair and 'equity' prevails usually.
*To file a claim in the NSW District Court against Optus for breach of contract.
I contracted for "email on my mobile" I didn't get that - there's a breach of a fundamental term. Basic common law contract law. There are no exclusion clauses or disclaimers that can negate such a fundamental breach. Nokia's extensive advertising and branding of this handset as an 'email phone' denote that if it is not fit for that purpose, then you have a breach of the contract. There's also a number of Fair Trading Act sections that are valid in the fitness for purpose respect.
*To file a claim in the Federal Court against NOKIA for breaching s 71 of the Trade Practices Act
As the Trade Practices Act is a federal act, it may be worth an action directly against the manufacturer on the grounds of 'fitness for purpose'. Nokia advertised this phone as an 'email phone', the numerous discussions here denote that there have been so many faults with their email software that the phone is clearly not fit for the purpose of being an email phone, certainly not when it only works half the time.
*To file a claim in the Federal Court against NOKIA for breaching s 52 of the Trade Practices Act
Here we are talking about 'Misleading and Deceptive Conduct'. On other discussion threads dealing with the E75 email faults, some users from Europe have reprinted responses they received from Nokia technicians where they were blatantly told that the E75 is "not a mail for exchange" phone and that faults are to be expected as the software is still in development. Per the ambit of s 52, this is clearly conduct that is LIKELY to mislead or decieve especially when viewed in the light that Nokia have promoted this phone as "email on your mobile" (implying solid reliability) not "email on your mobile half the time cos it only works sparingly because we haven't nutted out the software yet."
That last one is a biggie. IF Nokia were still developing their mail for exchange software and they knew it had bugs and was not reliable (certainly not for business use) then they should not have misled consumers into believing that this phone was the "Blackberry Killer". Their advertisements on the back page of Sydney's 'Good Weekend' certainly fooled me into thinking it was. Of course, people say that I should simply just cough up another $40 of my own money and download RoadSync so I have a reliable mail for exchange program that actually works. This isn't the point. Nokia have put a very faulty product on the market, there seems to be a lot of disconnect between their marketing of the product and what their technicians say it is capable of. As such, I will be demanding a full and fair exchange of this handset with a Blackberry.
    Bryan.

I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to do here.
Mail for Exchange - works with Microsoft Exchange Servers only.
It doesn't work with Yahoo! Gmail or any other mail service because its "Mail for EXCHANGE"
"Mail for Exchange is preintegated to Nokia E75, Nokia E72, Nokia E55, Nokia E52, Nokia N86 8MP and Nokia 6710 Navigator"
    Taken from: http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/nokia-for-business/software/email-and-instant-messaging/mail-f...
In fact its more compatible with a pre-installed device such as the E75 than any of the other symbian devices that it will operate with.
The program uses the Microsoft Exchange Activesync service to push mail to your handset, this needs to be set up correctly by your companies IT department with the correct heartbeat intervals etc.
I have MfE working fine on my E71, whilst its not the same device the software works well and the push mail function is great.
I have had one or two problems, that the latest version of MfE has exhibited but there is a big thread here /discussions/board/message?board.id=messaging&thread.id=13370
Which details some problems and resolutions.
    Shunts...
I will mostly be communicating with a Nokia E72 Zodium Black
Nokia E72-1 with Vr 051.018.207.04 Software
If this post helped... Add some kudos!!

  • Mail for Exchange stopped working after installing...

I downloaded the software updater and duly connected and updated the firmware in my X6. It now has the latest version, although oddly the updater said that it needed updating with a new version from Sunday 2nd May. I now have the 4th May version.
Anyway since updating the firmware, Mail for exchange doesn't work, it is in the program list and starts to react when touched but then stops. It offers no error message but simply refuses to start.
I have tried the windows classics (off and on again) and even tried to update the firmware with the latest version of the updater, which it told me that the firmware was up to date but I could update it again if I wanted, so I did.
Anyway, No email etc on the phone and M4e is not working, I have emailed Nokia technical and thought I'd try this as well.
Any help would be gratefully recieved.
    Paul

I have a similar ongoing problem with MfE and my E63, in that after a period of time ranging anywhere between 1 and 3 months, I start getting system errors and "try again later" messages in the MfE log when trying to synchronize my email (no contacts or calendar sync, email only from my company's exchange webmail server, MfE installed on phone memory).  I typically could get it to sync if I forced it two or three times in a row, but it generally completely stopped syncing on the schedule I had put in, regardless of whether "always on" or a time interval was selected.
I get the feeling there is something in memory or a log file someplace that builds up and starts causing these errors - so far I have been able to fix the problem every time by simply reinstalling the same version of MfE.  When asked if you want to overwrite the existing version, choose yes.  You shouldn't have to re-enter any setup or credential information.

  • Mail for Exchange + exchange 2007 problem

I have a Customer with an Exchange 2007 SP1 server
Two of the workers has an E65.
They were using MfE up untill 3 months ago with no problems
now when they try to sync, it just gets stuck at connecting
i can see it reaches the IIS on the server with the exchange due to the cert popup(made it untrusted for testing purpose), and when i check the IIS logs i can see the connection attempt.
i installed the latest MfE that was released last week and the problem still exhists.

  • E72 Mail for Exchange problem

On reaction of the thread of qazcorp (E72 mail for exchange) here a new request for myself...
As in that thread I've found two users who have the same problem.
Lost tekst when sending or forwarding email from the E72 by use of Mail for Exchange.
    So far I've tried...
    - Firmware update (no success)
    - New install of latest Firmware without backup (no success)
    - Tested same installation on a E71 (works fine)
Other E72 or E71 users aren't having these problems.
So far I'm guessing it's a software error, but the new installation without using a backup is contradicting that conclusion.
    Requested information so far...
    - They are both running an E72
    - Exchange 2003 SP2
We configure the telephones to synchronise only the last two weeks. This results in: 100~200 mails on the phone.
    We synch using Vodafone-GPRS data-connection.
Additional requested information will follow... (E72 Productcode, E72 Firmwareversion & Mail for Exchange version)

I have had exactly the same problem with all previous versions of firmware, connecting to Exchange 2003, SP2
    I am currently running:
    -Product code: 0595585
    -Firmware: 054.005
    -Custom version: 054.005.275.04
    -Mail for Exchange version: 2.2.0
I have tried all the same solutions as DCBertisen (software update, new install without backup).
I had tested the same installation with roadsync on symbian, roadsync on android, native exchange on android and windows mobile, and all of these work fine.
I have now moved to Exchange 2010, and it appears (touch wood) that I no longer am having these problems. However, I have only been using Exchange 2010 for 3 weeks, so I fear they may happen again.

  • N8 Mail for Exchange – problems with date separato...

key points are highlighted by bold text
    Hi,
I'm using my Nokia N8-00 for one month now and everything works fine except three issues I discovered using Mail for Exchange. Two weeks ago I contacted our domain/mail hoster to set up a MS Exchange account for me.
Setting up the account on my N8-00 worked as expected, but after a detailed look I found some problems concerning the date separator (normally set in the settings of the clock-application) and the synchronizing of anniversaries.
To be sure the sources of the problems are not produced by the server I set up the Mail for Exchange (newest available version of Mail for Exchange via Ovi-Store – 3.00(50)) account on my N82. Comparisons to my N82 are mentioned below.
My first problem with Mail for Exchange on my N8 is that the date separator is switched from . (point) to – (minus) automatically. I'm pretty sure this issue depends on the N8’s Mail for Exchange, cause it only happens in the peak-time (off-peak is set to sync manually). The strange thing is that I cannot trace back this occurrence – it just happens randomly in the peak-period.
On my N82 this problem doesn’t occur. Additionally the support employee at my mail hoster told me he is using an E-Series (Mail for Exchange 2.07) device without having this issue.
Is there a workaround or a fix coming for this issue? Is there anybody else having this issue?
Now coming to the second issue I sustain using Mail for Exchange on the N8-00. Some of my contacts that are synced to my device get the wrong date of birth displayed in the device. Upon contacts where this problem occurs the date of birth is displayed one day earlier than set in Outlook.
I found out that this issue only happens to contacts born prior to 198* (* between 1 to 4 – sorry not sure about the exact date). One example is the date 02.10.1978, which is displayed as 01.10.1978 in my phone. Even if I set up a new test-contact with this date of birth it is displayed wrong in my phone!
But it doesn’t happen to all birthdates prior to 198*. And also on this issue I’m not sure where it’s coming from.
This problem doesn’t happen on my N82 and the E-Series device mentioned above.
Last but not least the third issue which in a way is similar to the one above but doesn’t happen in the contacts application. Birthdays which are automatically entered as all-day-series in the calendar by Outlook aren’t synced to the device as birthday events (as Ovi-Suite does). Sometimes they aren’t even all-day events – they have a starting time at midnight and an end time at midnight the next day.
If I change those events to real all-day-birthday-events in the calendar app of my N8-00 they are synced back to my Outlook one day prior to their real date – sounds familiar, huh?
To be sure these issues are not produced by me in any curious way I made sure that every birthday-event in Outlook is an automatically entered event. Additionally I checked the time zones and the date-separator of Exchange via Outlook Web Access and on my phone – they are both set to GMT +1 and the date is set to dd.mm.yyyy.
What makes me angry is that those issues don’t happen to my older device.
Please help me to fix these problems!
    Greetings
    Lars

I am having ongoing problems with Hotmail and my N8's Mail for Exchange. I have all the latest firmware updates from Nokia, that as I understand it was supposed to fix the problem, it hasn't. I've even done a hard reset on the phone, which lost a ton of stuff that my service provider had installed
Hotmail via MfE works for a couple of days then stops connecting and refuses to update mail or calendar entries, I then delete the account and recreate it and it all works again for a couple of days. I know this isn't a problem with Hotmail as my Nokia 5800 works perfectly with its MfE.
This is spoiling what is otherwise a good phone as it's a main feature for me as I use the calendar in Hotmail to organise my meetings etc.

  • Mail for exchange settings on N97

I have a N97 which mail for exchange was working happily on, synchronizing mail, contact's and calendar. The world was a good place!
The screen broke and  needed replacing on my N97 and  I have set up mail for exchange again. Now when it downloads mail, it downloads all of the other outlook folders inside my inbox as well as my inbox. It never used to do this and indeed this is not what I want.
How can I get my N97 to just download the inbox rather than all of the folders within the inbox on outlook. There must be some settings either on the phone or in outlook which defines what is synced.

Maybe you had earlier Mail for Exchange v2.9 in use and after setting it up again, you have got the latest MfE 3.0 version. The new MfE 3.0 version has as a new feature the possibility to view the outlook subfolders. These are, however, not automatically synced unless you subscribe to them. The unsubscribed folders show the mark (x) in front of the folder name. After you subscribe to a folder, the (x) mark will disappear from the folder name.

  • Mail For Exchange - Compatability/Downloads menu i...

    Using N79
    SW 31.002.205.4.
Up until this morning running MfE 2.9.158. Just been offerred 2.9.160 via App.Update. Post install check indicates this has been available for months - why the delay in pushing it through to App.Update?
MfE 2.9.160 still not fixed old issue of being unable to open MfE settings following phone restart - why not? - threads dating back to 1st quarter 2009! but this one explains the issue precisely:
    /t5/Messaging-Email-and-Browsing/Mail-for-Exchange-corrupted/m-p/603626/highlight/true#M21922
It's the only app on my phone that cannot be routinely opened - not good.
Notwithstanding this idiosyncrasy email syncing is more hit than miss but  falls way short of my iPod touch which is 100% rock solid regarding Exchange compatability. Does Nokia want Exchange Server based customers- my guess is not enough. Generally speaking if I notice emails hitting my iPod but not my N79 it's time for a  phone restart.  But that  kills the ability to open MfE settings So it's back to a re-install.
    If the above isn't bad enough Nokia has just made it worse.  This "current" link from the N79 support page is dead;
    http://businesssoftware.nokia.com/mail_for_exchange_downloads.php
and after much dead-ending find that the Ovi Store now contains MfE - no problem with that it makes sense to consolidate. But no mention of N79 being supported by the latest greatest MfE and Ovi only lists 3.0 as supporting FP1 phones - so wht about FP2?
Is my N series phone supported anymore - I've got no idea.
Wake up Nokia it's 2010 not 1990 - we shouldn't have to put  up with this **bleep** in basic functionality.
Judging by lack of action over the past 12 months have no hope Nokia will put this right but that my dear Nokia is how you lose customers to your rivals Apple and RIM. Pull your finger out.

I'm hoping this fix works for me long term and post as is.
Multiple phone calls to Nokia Tier 1 and 2 phone support heavily supplemented by some determined Google searching led me to the following solution.
First off the bad news. To fix the MfE issue requires a hard reset of the device. There's no way around this so resign yourself to it early.
The good news however is you can dramatically reduce the time needed to return your device back to its pre-reset condition by backing up your device using Ovi Suite. Forget to do this and you'll be re-installing your apps one at a time.
My issue was made more difficult because the usual hard re-set code (*#7370 #) would not reset the device i.e. full recovery of phone memory, complete wiping of contacts etc. Ignoring Nokia's advice to return the phone for repair! I turned up an alternative method which achieved the hard re-set I was seeking.
    As follows:
Hold these three keys down - *, 3 and green accept call - whie the phone is off, then power on keeping them depressed until the Nokia logo plays.
On the N79 this involves an usual amount of manual dexterity but nevertheless worked where the re-set code failed. Hopefully this won't be necessary for most users.
Once re-set you will be presented with the Set up menu as per a new phone.
With a fully recovered phone memory you can now restore your earlier backup via Ovi Suite, which for me did 90% of the work needed to get my phone back to its earlier personalised condition. I took the opportunity of checking for any programme updates of essential apps and updated as necessary. Re-installation of Speed Dial settings and permitted Bluetooth devices amongst other items was required but all in all all my data and file structure was faithfully restored first time around.
I am now running MfE 3.0 (actually 2.09.208 - see initial thread posting ) which Nokia support advise is not supported  for the N79 -  given the varying level of advice received I'm prepared to run with my own view that it works fine. If you wish to play safe you should be running 2.9.160.
I have re-booted the phone multiples times over the last two days and on only one occasion (which I'm going to pretend never happened) MfE has been rock solid. In addition Ovi Maps which had stopped opening - and was fundamentally what set me off down the road of a hard re-set - is now working perfectly.
I'm hoping this cures the irritating MfE problem long term pending Nokia sorting out whether they even support the N79 any longer as far as MfE is concerned.
As a sign off I will just say for my purposes the N79 is the best smartphone I've ever owned and supplemented with an iPod Touch is a fantastic work/play combination. If you are allowed tethering on your contract I contend Walking Hot Spot is THE killer app and so confident am I of my choice of phone I've just bought a second N79, at a much reduced price, which I'm going to use as a backup/extension to my existing N79 when it dies and goes to heaven.
Hope this post saves someone else some timeand effort.

    Hello!
I upgraded my Nokia e52 to Software version 033.002.216.01 but now I am unable to sync with my mail for exchange Calendar. Settings are correct (in calendar settings Default mailbox is Mail for Exchange and in Email settings Calendar sync is "Yes") and I am still able to sync e-mail, but not calendar items.
Can anyone help me with this issue? Does anyone have the same problem after software upgrade?

I haven't solve the problem yet. Waiting for new firmware, might be it will solve the problem...
