Mail forgets Accounts and then Contents of Mailboxes

Running Leopard with all Updates so far...
After a force reset (pressing Power-Button to switch off) my Mail somehow reseted itself. When starting Mail all my Accounts plus Send Messages were gone.
Tried to go back in time and replaced my Mail Library and Mail.app. No change. After that I tried to replace the Mail Library Folder in the root/all users directory. Now the contents of my mailboxes is also gone. But all messages and also the send messages are definitely in my Library.
If anybody could help out, this is pretty much a catastrophe for me. Thanks.

No, actually my Mailboxes are all gone (hope I use the exact English term). But the local Folders/Mailboxes are avaiable w/o content. To illustrate that here is a screenshot:

As you can see the local Folder "Accounts" is empty. Same with the other ones. Under "Postfächer" there used to be 5 Email Accounts with their own Inbox. Now they are all gone. And the Send Objects under "Postfächer" is empty, too.
I have looked into the Mail Library and found the send objects (could even open a single mail in Mail), the contents of my Mailboxes/Folders and directories with the account name. It seems that everything is there, but Mail refuses to "see" it.
Hope this makes my situation more clear.

There are only two things that I can suggest.
The first is to try the Mail Setup Assistant.
The other is giving Mozilla's Thunderbird a shot - setup the account and see if it will work with this free email app. I don't like Mail at all - and it gives some people fits around here (I don't know how many times people have posted about problems with outgoing servers using Mail).
Try both methods - I don't use Mail - I use MS's Outlook (and, before that, Entourage). If the Setup Assistant offers no relief, just try Thunderbird and see if it works with it.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)

Script to open mail at login and then hide app

I've been messing around with apple script lately and found it useful in being able to do various tasks etc, I've even written a few basic scripts myself
I use my computer primarily at home with a wireless network and i just leave my mail app open to check my mail more easily. I have the program set up to open at login, which works and then leaves the inbox window open.
I'm wondering if there is a way with apple script to tell mail to open at login and then hide it self once it's open so that it seems like it opened in the background.
any ideas?

Have you considered using the hide option in 'login items' tab in system preferences/accounts?
Go to system preferences, then to accounts, and then use the 'login items' tab with your account name. Now you can specify Mail to open as you login and then there is an option for you to hide Mail once it opens.
The net effect is that you will have Mail open once you login and then have it hide itself after login.

No, you will not loose anything. However, if you ever need to update any of that previously purchased content, or re-download it, you will have to use the older AppleID. Purchases are permanently tied to the AppleID you use when making the purchase.

I am trying to combine two accounts that I have on iTunes (created separately over the years) so as to then delete/cancel one to only have one active account (with all of my combined purchases, etc. on this combined account).

You should use the same iTunes account for all your devices.

Apple IDs cannot be deleted. You can abandon it and remove your payment info but the account will remain.
If you do make a new account keep in mind that all apps downloaded or purchased with the original account will always be associated with that original account and require the old ID and password to update.

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.
