Mail forwarded to Hotmail has MIME attachment

OSX 10.4.5/Mail 2.0.7
I've been having a persistent problem for some time now. When I'm out of the office, I have a rule set up to forward my mail to my Hotmail account, so that I receive an alert on my cell phone (Verizon). The mail arrives at Hotmail with a MIME attachment, making it unreadable on the phone thru the Hotmail web browser function.
I've got Mail set up to compose in Plain Text, and the option for replying in the same format is not checked.
If the incomming message has an attachment in the first place, I guess I can understand why it might get MIMEd when forwarded; but even text only messages get MIMEd.
Any suggestions?

Hmmm... good suggestion. I do have signatures, but they're plain text.
But in a possibly related issue, my signatures are buggy in Mail. I have them set up to auto insert depending on the account I'm sending the mail from (one is work, one personal) but they sometimes it doesn't choose the right one, and if I switch the sending account after the message is composed (but before I send), any attachment is deleted when the signature changes. But if I hit undo, the attachment comes back. I've always chalked that up to Mail's general buggyness... or perhaps some wierdness in synching with my laptop. But maybe it's related?
I just deleted my signatures and rebuilt them from scratch. I wonder if I should check the box "always match my default font"?

  • Nokia Mail forwarding to Hotmail

    Hello everybody!
I am provided with an account from Nokia, an OVI account. I am willing to forward the e-mail that I receive in this account to my Hotmail. But I accidentally did a mistake. When I put my hotmail account name in OVI in order to forward, there was an e-mail sent to my Hotmail (a verification e-mail).
I accidentally clicked to block the OVI account in that e-mail. Now I cannot do anything, OVI refuses to setup the forwarding account. In addition, when I sign-in in my Hotmail and go to the corresponding section to add an account to receive messages, the process cannot be completed. How can I resolve this problem?
    Thank you in advance!!

    Hi,
How do you configure your auto-forwarding for your mailbox? We also need to check whether other users can auto-forward message to Hotmail or Gmail properly.
Generally, we configure mail forwarding by using ForwardingAddress parameter in Set-Mailbox cmdlet. If so, we also need to create a mail contact or mail user for your hotmail/gmail address in Exchange server. For more information about mail
    forwarding, please refer to:

  • 'Ghost' mime-attachements in Mail

    I have a problem.
Ever since i upgraded to Leopard Mail insists on including a 'mime-attachment.txt' file with every email i sent and which containts an attachment. Just to be clear, this mime-attachment is visible in mail aswell. An email sent to myself with 1 attachment will contain 2 attachments when received.
Now, previous to Leopard I just always made sure I included my attachment at the very end of the mail and that would prevent this from happening. Now however, no matter what I do (plain text, RTF, end of mail, etc) mail insists of including a mime-attachement.txt of 1 byte.
Any ideas on how to fix this, my customers are all asking me about attachments the can't open etc and it's really annoying...
    Thx in advance,
    -erwin

Count me in with the mime issue. I cannot send any documents as enclosed files via mail without a mime doc sent instead of the intended PDF CS2 created file. Please help

  • Mime-attachment

Recently I started randomly getting mime-attachments from a few emailers in my Mail app. It's not all the time and definitely is random. The sender is NOT sending any sort of attachment, he is only typing a few lines of text in the email. When it arrives to me, it has the subject, but no body content. Rather, it only has "mime-attachment."
It looks like this (w/ "Long Headers"):

    Any ideas?

We too have been receiving mime attachments at my office. I think I have narrowed it down to new, web-based e-mail messages. Just conducted a test from a client with whom we have had this problem. He sent several messages. The first two (a reply and a new message), from his PDA came through no problem. Next, a reply from his XP PC from his Yahoo webmail account, using IE (not sure of the version), also no problem. Fourth, a new message from his PC (Yahoo mail), which came in as a mime attachment. Finally from his yahoo account on his PC, he forwarded an e-mail he initially sent a colleague of mine which came in as a mime on my colleague's MBP, but the forward to me came in just fine.
My client does not use Outlook or any other e-mail app. Just webmail.

  • How do I delete an e.mail on my 5s that has a mime attachment, the e.mail can be read but not deleted.

How do I delete an e.mail  on my 5s iphone that has a mime attachement? the e.mail can be read but not deleted. A message comes up saying that it cannot be moved! The e.mail was sent to me and I forwarded it. The e.mail is not in any other folder in the phone or on my mac. But it might be in my backup to the mac via itunes.

This is for your protection, its not supposed to be easy.
You should be keeping a record of all your passwords, security answers, etc.
Rescue email address and how to reset Apple id sec. questions.

If that doesn't work and you can verify the following info, call 1-800-APL-CARE.
    1. apple id username, that is not locked or disabled.
    2. serial number of an apple product registerd in your name
    3. Billing info associated with your account

  • Help forwarded e-mail comes up as mime-attachements can't read the forward!

Help, I recieve forwarded e-mail from friends with content that comes up as a mime-attachment in iPhone's mail app. Is there a setting I can change to make the forwarded e-mail appear. It works under the Mac OS X mail app and looks fine. The forwarded e-mail are either text, url or photos. My Fiancé laughed at me and said I thought your $expensive$ phone can get e-mail. I'm using .mac and yahoo mail accounts.

Serves you right for getting a girlie phone... (joking)
Can you send yourself a message from your PC to test if it works? I have read several posts about the iPhone mail client having problems with certain types of encoding (like from AOL). If you can send youself a pic from your .mac account and have it work fine, then perhaps you can eliminate one variable - if all your emails from everywhere look bad, then you have another problem.

  • Mail opens as "mime-attachment"

Many times when I get emails, they arrive as a blank mail document with a "mime-attachment". It happens in Mail 3, Mail 2 and in both 10.4 and 10.5. I can open the mail in text-edit. Sometimes I can simply read the email, many times, I can see the references to websites and files. Obviously, this is not how it is meant to display.
Is there a setting or preference I'm missing?
    Thanks folks

I'm having the same problem. It has nothing to do with incoming or outgoing attachments, or the incoming message having been forwarded. It happened with 2 incoming messages this morning. They were sent directly to me, not forwarded, and did not have attachments as such, (although they may have contained graphics--e.g., color, special fonts, little pictures). If I go to my webmail, I can read the text of the messages, but when they are downloaded to "Mail (2.1.2)", I see only "mime-attachment". The suggestion of one poster to add the extension .eml, then try to open, did not work for me. Is there no solution to this problem?
    Thanks.

  • Can't open mime-attachment in mail

Sometimes mail is forwarded to my iPhone from my Yahoo! account as a mime-attachment and the iPhone won't open it, so I can't read the message. Any suggestions?

I figured out that if the email is formatted as plain text, an attachment coming from Outlook can be read, whereas if the email message is in HTML format (my PC Outlook default), it cannot.
This could well be a good workaround for you - send your email message in plain text format whenever you include an attachment.
Has anyone figured out a way to solve this - where you can view an attachment to an HTML formatted email?

  • Mail Is Only a "MIME Attachment"

I'm away from home trying to get by on an iPod touch standing in for a laptop. One e-mail I received, forwarded (at least) by one AOL user, consists of nothing but a "mime-attachment". I believe I've seen similar things in e-mail on Mail for OS X, but in that environment I've always been able to double-click on that item to open it. So far I haven't had any luck on the iPod touch. I can call up options of "Save Image", "Copy", and "Cancel", but those don't seen to cause any useful results. Is there a solution, or am I stuck until I return home? Thanks for any advice.

  • Mail attachments as MIME-attachment unreadable!!!

I've been using Entourage for a long time and it works ok
    I have a gmail account
Now I'm trying to synchronize my mail with an IMAP account in Apple Mail app.
The problem is that some of the attachments now appear as "MIME-attachment" and they are unreadable!!!!
I go to www.gmail.com, check the same message and there it is!: the attachment as it should be! and I can open it right away.
Happened with pdf, gif, jpg files
    Please help

    Hello,
I think I've found the problem... but not the solution
    I did a simple test.
Took a PDF and sent it via Gmail Webmail to myself.
Testing both UTF-8 sending formatting ON and OFF (via Gmail settings) -- Has no affect.
The problem was pinned while renaming the attachment. If the attachment is in English or numbers, you will see it as normal.
If the attachment is NOT in English or numbers Gmail will transform it to UTF-8 and Apple Mail doesn't seem to know how to handle it.
    Here are the results.
    Test1: File name is 09879.pdf
    ------=Part_2220323867308.1197303123110
    Content-Type: application/pdf; name=09879.pdf

    ------=Part_2221813473114.1197303418627--
As you can see, here relies the problem. If Only Mail.app add the file extension from the Content-Type and we're all set.
In the meanwhile, if you want to know the file type just go to 'View --> Message --> Raw Source'
and search for 'Content-Type' a few times or 'application'
Does anyone here have an idea of solving this issue ?

  • I need to UNINSTALL the latest upgrade to Mozilla as I cannot locate in my hotmail e-mail a "Subject" line nor an "Attachment" link !!!!!!!

When it comes to replying or forwarding an e-mail on my hotmail a/c, the newly installed Mozilla/Firefox program does not provide any method for me to insert a "subject" nor to include an "attachment" to the e-mail.
This is a complete and utter disaster!
Please advise me soonest how to uninstall the newly installed Mozilla/Firefox.
If possible to expedite the requested solution (Uninstall), please call me at (Phone number removed by mod); or e-mail me at (email removed by mod)

First, you need to update to Firefox 17.0.1, as the version you are using (Firefox 3.6.3) is not only known to be buggy with many websites, but it is VERY Insecure. So, please update IMMEDIATELY before you do anything else. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version

  • How can I move an e-mail forwarded as an attachment into my inbox?

I recently migrated from MS Outlook 2003 to Thunderbird 24.4.0 for my personal e-mail because I can't afford the latest MS Outlook and wouldn't really want version 2013 anyway. Prior to the migration, any time someone sent me a personal e-mail at work, I would forward it home as an attachment and move that attachment into my inbox at home. In Thunderbird, I find that when I drag the e-mail attachment from the attachment section to the Inbox folder (the actual folder in the navigation pane or the list of e-mails in the inbox), I get the unavailable symbol (circle with slash through it). I am guessing this is not going to be something I can do in Thunderbird, but wanted to check here and see if anyone had other ways to get the same end result.
The reason I have done this historically is to preserve the original e-mail and have the mail client show me who sent it to me. Viewing the forwarded message is fine, but if I want to look for it later, I have to look for a forwarding e-mail from myself instead of the original message that was sent to me.
Beyond getting people to use my personal address (really not sure why/how they have my work one), does anyone have any advice that could make this happen? For the record, I also tried resending the e-mail to my personal address as if it were from the original sender, but that won't fly at work due to the security configuration in the Exchange server.

Save the attachment, and give it an eml extension if it doesn't have one (messages attached to TB messages are named 'Attached Message'), then drag the eml file from the Explorer folder where you saved it and drop it on a TB folder in the Folder Pane.

  • Mail in Snow Leopard has broken. Keeps resending a large file attachment. Make it stop!

Our 2009 iMac running Snow Leopard has hit a snag with mail. After trying to send a bunch of attached photos, Mail stopped receiving messages and continually tries to resend the large message, even though we have done our best to delete it. Even when we do, a few minutes later, it will pop into the outbox again and start all over. We are now using Thunderbird but would like to get Mail back as it has all our organized folders on it. I've called our ISP and the problem is definitely with Mail, not our account. What now?

    Hi Bee,
The attachents add up to 34.1 Mb.
The messages appear in a Recovered Messages (Telus) folder that shows up at the bottom of our list of folders. That folder fills up with copies of the 34.1 Mb email. After about 15 minutes there are 34 of them. I can only delete them one at a time after clicking on them. Trying to select all or batch delete unread causes mail to slow down to a crawl and affects all other applications. "Edit Message" doesn't seem to be an option.
