Mail from calendar event mavericks

Hi, I create a new event in calendar (maverick) and I set alarm with mail but at the time I chosen I din't receive mail but only sound on my iphone. I tried also with other account... How can I have email? may be a problem of mavericks?

I try to follow your step but failed, if you don't mind may I re-confirm the step?
step 1:
Copy the Mail folder (user/Library/Mail) to the new mac (user/Library/Mail) too? or inside folder V2?
Step 2:
Erase the files Envelope index, Envelope index-shm, Envelope index-wal (user/Library/Mail/V2/MailData) at the new mac.
Step 3:
Open Mail. But it asking me to setup the account?
Do I missed something here?

Remove start time from Calendar events

The new Maverick system displays the event time in all of the events I've created. I don't want this displayed, how do I remove it? One thing to note, some events have it and some don't.
Also, how do I get it to stop auto-populating an event location?

To set your starting location, Calendar first looks for your location in any events that are up to three hours before this event. If Calendar doesn’t find a location, it uses your work address during work hours and your home address during other hours. (Your work hours are set in Calendar preferences using the “Day starts at” and “Day ends at” menus.) If your card in Contacts doesn’t have your addresses, Calendar uses your computer’s current location.

Can Not Remove "with" Data from Calendar Event Details

I currently have a Palm Tungsten|E2. For a short time I used to sync it with my work computer; this was before they replaced the computer (lease was up) with a new one where it was locked down and I could not reinstall the Palm desktop. Since then I have been syncing it with my home computer that runs MS Vista. Just recently I have noticed that when I create new Calendar events on my Palm, they all get a new "With:" data line (and a user from my old job) after sync'ing with my home computer. Selecting this "With:" entry brings me to a screen that allows me to select from a list of people I may "Done", "Reply", or "Reply All" to; although selecting either reply only causes a fatal error that requires a soft reset (button on back of machine). Looking at the event through the desktop software shows no data point so that it may be cleaned.
I would like to know why my desktop software is adding this person to a "With:" data point to all new entires I create on the Palm hardware, how do I turn it off and keep it from doing it in the future.

Are you sync'ing the new device to the same username in Palm Desktop as an older device?
If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you sync the device, it saves the device settings, 3rd party apps, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the username folder on the PC. When you sync the new device it copies the contents of the backup folder for the old device to the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings for the new device thus causing erratic behavior of the new device.
The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.

Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.
Looks like you may need to hard reset your device and rename your backup folder. Go to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the directions to do a hard reset. Next before you hotsync your data back over you will need to rename your backup folder, to do that go here;

folder to backup.old
Then hotsync to your current hotsync name and all your contacts, calendar,

Link from calendar event

Is there an easy way to provide a link from an HTMLDB-built calendar event? In other words, I have a table that has date, item and description columns, to which I have built an HTMLDB calendar on. I would like to be able to link from the item listed on the calendar to a popup (or similar) with the long description about this event. Any ideas?

"when you create a calendar region in html db, the region is defined as pl/sql that pieces together a query string and sends it to the wwv_render_calendar2.show procedure. in that query, the third column becomes the link associated with your event. to get your popup window thing to work, you could change that third column to a javascript link call to a procedure that pops up a window with the extra info you're lookin' to display. say your page had access to this javascript fuction...

To maps from calendar event

How can I easily get to maps from my calendar event? I have tried both typing the address to the address field and notes field. However in both cases by cliking the address it won't take me to the maps like it does in Contacts. Can iPhone 4 really lack this function?

Yes, I think you've misunderstood. He doesn't know where to go until he looks his appointment in calendar. Now he wants to find out where it is and how to get there.
So, from this point, in order to get the maps app to search for that location, you have to open the appointment, edit the appointment (because this is the only way to get copy and paste to work at this point) copy the location, close the calendar app, open the maps app, paste the location.
It would be great if the the iPhone software recognized locations (especially since when they are within the location field) so that you could just tap on it and it would open within Maps.

Create a Reminder from Calendar Event

I am trying to create an applescript application that will automatically create a reminder when triggered by an alert. I want the name of the reminder name to be the same as the name of the calendar event.
This simple applescript will create a new reminder when "opened" by a calendar alert:

Is there anyway I can get this script to 'get' the name of the calendar event that "opened" it and use that for the reminder name?

You cannot drop something onto an app window that was still in Exposé mode (only window on a dark background). After hovering over the app icon, and when the app window appears in Exposé, hover over that until the app comes into the foreground. Then, you should get a green + badge on the drag icon.
If you start dragging and cmd-tab to Reminders, the window should be an active drop zone immediately.

Clean install (Yosemite). Recover mail from Time Machine (Mavericks)?

Hi,
I did a clean install of Yosemite on a 2010 MBP. It had Mavericks on it before. I want to restore Mail. I performed a Time Machine backup of the entire system before and manually backed up my mailboxes via Mailbox >Export Mailbox... for each.
My three mailboxes didn't import correctly. I imported them via Mail> Import Mailboxes >Apple Mail for each. I am missing emails and my folder structure within Mail is gone. I can't seem to access it via Time Machine. I Enter Time Machine with Mail open and cannot go back at all.
What am I doing incorrectly?

The edit button disappeared.
I've manually copied the contents of my latest time machine backup from the location below.
Backups.backupdb > Computer Name > Latest > Macintosh HD > Users > Your User > Library > Mail >
I've also copied over the backed up com.apple.mail.plist file.
To the same location on the laptop. Nothing shows up in mail. Are there other locations I need to copy data from?

Migrating mail from Tiger to Mavericks

I was getting ready to use Migration Assistant to migrate from a PowerPC G4 with OSX Tiger (10.4.11) to an iMac with Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6.8) when a pop-up came on the screen for a free update to Mavericks (OSX 10.9). Without thinking of the ramifications of doing this, I ran the update. Now I find out that Migration Assistant in Mavericks is not compatible with Migration Assistant in Tiger. Also, I did not turn on the Time Machine so cannot revert back to Snow Leopard.
Since I cannot use Migration Assistant, how do I migrate the Tiger mail into Mavericks? I tried importing mailbox from within Mavericks and it imports but does not look right.
Any help is appreciated.

Start with http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4889. You could wipe the iMac, reinstall SL, update it, and then migrate from the G4.

Setting up owa in mail and calendars

just wondering if anyone can help on what the settings for an Exchange account has to be?
i have mail working fine on the iPhone, but not in Mail or Calendars on Mavericks
In Internet Accounts in the System Pref. i have simply put
email as [email protected]
Password <idontthinkso>
and that saved OK, however mail reports Exchange as being offline. I've tried setting the internal and external servers to owa.company.com, adnd then blanking out the Internal and external server paths
any help you can provide would be great.

The ability to create folders in the mail app is dependent on the type of email account that you have. It is not quite like Outlook where you can set up local folders no matter what type of account you have. The iPhone email client does not support the creation of folders if you are using a POP account. Only if you are using Exchange or IMAP, as those are created on the server side. The overheating issue sounds as if something is stuck running since it is running the battery down that fast. However, it makes me want to question what you mean by 5 hours of continuous use. Do you mean using for 5 hours straight, or it being in standby for a period of time as well?

Add a note to a Calendar event that was created from Mac Mail

When I create a Calendar event by clicking on a date within a Mac Mail message (you hover over a date in an email it draws a dashed box around the date and gives an option to create a Calendar event). It creates an Event in my Calendar with the following fields: Subject, Location, Date Time and alert fields, Invitees and a link to the mail message. But - I can't seem to add a Note Field. The only work-around seems to be to manually create a new calendar entry.
Does anyone know how to modify an event created from Mac Mail to add a Note Field?
iMac Retina 5K 27-inch Late 2014, OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.3, Calendar Version 8.0 (2034.9), Mail Version 8.2 (2098).

Thanks Brett for replying, but this doesn't work if the event is created by Mac Mail - which is my issue. Sure it works with any other event but not one that has been created from within Mail. If this is a bug I'm sure the Calendar people point the blame at the Mail people and vice versa but that doesn't help me. But before I submit a report to Apple I thought I would see if I might be missing something obvious.
See the attached screenshot of an event that was created by Mac Mail. There is no Add Notes field when the event is Double Clicked, Right Clicked or any other form of click.

Can't create Calendar Event from Mail on my iPad anymore

I no longer can create a new iPad Calendar Event from tapping on a date in email I receive. The new Event dialog box will still appear when I click on the date in an email, but the dialog box is now too small and off-center, hiding the Done button in the upper right corner of the Dialog. Without the Done button, I can't create the new Calendar Event. I can't resize the dialog box, or re-center it.
Is this a common problem after the latest iOS update? Can anyone help? Thanks.

Create Calendar event from Mail on iPad Mini in landscape

I have an iPad Mini. While in landscape and creating a new calendar event from the body of an email (by selecting the date in the body) I'm unable to get the entire (it is truncated) screen allowing me to set the date and time of the event. It doesn't show the Done button in the upper right.
This works fine on my other devices (iPad and iPhone) in landscape, and also works fine on the iPad Mini in portrait, but it does not work in landscape.
Does anyone else have this problem?

How to Drag and drop Mail message in Calendar event in Yosemite

Hi,
I am not sure if this has already been answered or if Yosemite Mail is missing one cool feature. In Mavericks and before, it was every easy to drap and drop a email message to a calendar event in the "URL" attachment section where it appeared as "Show in Mail..." in the event. But now, I don't find this drap-and-drop feature anymore?
The other alternative is to create a event from the Mail message content if there is a date (like 12/12/14) specified. But what about messages which do not have dates in them but I still want to attach the email to a calendar event?
Please chime in if others are also experiencing the same pain in Yosemite or if there is any other easier trick?

HT2513 How do I comment when I reply to an ical invitation - either in mail or when I open a calendar event in iCal?

There must be a way! When I click on the 'accept' , 'decline' or 'maybe' boxes mail sends a reply immediately - no chance to comment. If I open a calendar event I can change my status - but again no way to send a message with my reply.

I have sort of the exact same problem. Extremely far away from user friendly
I have an second issue as well: When I hook off all-day it comes up with an 8 hour event!
And then if I put in a late start hour it pushes end time to next day due to the 8 hour event suggestion.
All in all this gives a lot of changes just to enter an event.
