Mail from iphoto

When i send a pic from iphoto it auto selects Mail however I would like to send it with my alt mail server Thunderbird. How do I set up Thunderbird as my default mail server?

roccotaz:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Thunderbird is not supported because Thunderbird does not support Applescript which iPhoto uses for emailing. See the link in my post here: Re: Using Thunderbird as email client in iPhoto
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

I have problem to share by e-mail from iPhoto 11. I have fullly functional Mail on my macbook pro with 6th e-mail accounts. When i tryed to send some photos from iPhoto 11 i got message:
Your email did not go through because the server did not reply.
Check your Internet connection. If the connection is working properly, the email server may be down. Try sending your email again later.
Server and connection working properly and account is also OK  (the same as in Mail from Mac OS X)
For me is now one resutls: I must select photos in IPhoto and export to the Desktop and after that send by attach to the Mail from MacOS-X. It works OK. But its horrible for me!  Old version iPhoto 9 directly connect Email application and works OK. Help me.
    Thanks very much Robert

You can send emails from iPhoto to Mail just like you could in the older versions
Iphoto menu -> Preferences -> General and select Mail at the 'EMail Photos Using...' dropdown

Does you friend use any accented letters in the descriptions?  That might cause it but I don't know for sure.
Has he run any repair operations on his library, i.e. repairing the database file? Another possible fixe that's easy to apply is the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
        Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache folder(s):
    Home/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
and, if there is one, the
    Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For  Mavericks, 10.9,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
The demo version of GraphicConverter can be used to view/check/edit the ITPC fields in an image file after exporting.

  • Problem emailing using Mail from iPhoto.

When I email photos from iPhoto using Mail and have text under the photos some of the recipients receive the photos with the text superimposed onto the photo making it illegible. Is there some way to avoid this? If I send a copy to me everything is fine. I am not using any of the "fancy' templates in iPhoto, just plain photos with text.

Since posting this I found another post about this problem.  The response to that post should solve my problem.

  • Bug in  9.1.1 release : In mail from iphoto changing size not shown in MB

Could someone figure out how to report back to apple that we LIKE the 9.1.1 release that fixes it so you can select the size of your photo (smalll, medium, large, actual and optimized now)
BUT the problem is that when you have preference MAIL FROM I PHOTO - the little "size of this email" indicator that shows under the mail template does not change when you change the size of the photo between the choices above. It always just shows one size (the big one) so they need to fix that next time.
Thanks. I don't know how to report this to them. Signed - really happy so far with iphoto 11

It's working for me. No matter what template I choose I get the size menu with 4 sizes to choose from, small, medium, large and full size. Whatever size I select ends up as the size showing in the menu.
So there's apparently something amiss with your library or iPhoto. Backup the library and delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto a try again..
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Trouble when sending pictures by mail from iPhoto

Hello. Recently, while sending pictures with the mail function of iPhoto 9, some pictures have been transformed in tiff format (in this case the name of the picture is becoming PastedGraphic-1 (or2, 3 etc...).tiff.
The size of these .tiff files being at least 3Mo (or more), in general my messages never arrived to their destination.
This problem is not recurent: sometimes it happens, sometimes not, and you become aware of the problem when you receive an error messge of your internet provider regarding the size of the mail you sent and was not distributed because his size.
So this is a little bit boring....
Who got the same kind of problem? is there is a solution?

    Thanks for your comment.
The original pictures are jpg. That's making this issue a little bit mysterious..
One more thing: last time I got the problem, I was sending 7 pictures from iPhoto: two of them were compressed in jpeg, the 5 other ones in this PastedGraphic.tiff
Total weight of the message: 21,9Mo instead of 1,8Mo. That's the difference!

  • E-mailing from iPhoto 11

When I enter certain but not email addresses from my address book when sending a photo from iPhoto 11and then left click or press return, it erases the e-mail address in the address block.  Does anyone have a solution to this issue?    Any help would be appreciated.

Use mail as your e-mail client. Set in the iPhoto preferences

  • No problems with iPhoto 11,UNTIL I downloaded Lion. Now,I cannot e-mail from iPhoto. The "do not recognize user/password"message.I like to -mail directly from iPhoto, not Mail. Anyone having this problem? Thanks for the assistance

My iPhoto e-mail has been working great;UNTIL I upgraded to Lion. Now,I cannot e-mail directly from iPhoto. I prefer to e-mail photos from iPhoto, not Mail. I sure appreciate anyone's help. Thanks

1 - unless you tell us more then anything would be a wild guess - what happens? what error messages do you get?
and why would you use iPhoto rather than Mail anyway - mail has more templates, has a sent mail box, uses you address book lists and lets you control the message format so PC users can receive photos - and works for everyone

  • Sending mail from iPhoto with signatures

I spent a lot of time setting up my signatures which include small jpg's.
When I send my photos via iPhoto, the jpg's are dropped and it says "unknown" in place of the image I want.
How can I correct this so that my jpg's are included in my mail via iPhoto?

First thing is Excel is Microsoft Specific and cant be created using UTL_FILE. May be as Excel supports CSV you can create CSV file using UTL_FILE.
Next BLOB is a datatype like CHAR or VARCHAR2. You can store data in it. Thats all nothing much. With BLOB you can store an excel file. BLOB can't create or send it via EMail.
So it would be better you talk to your DBA asking him to give more details.
    Thanks,
    Karthick.

  • Why does E-mail from iPhoto 4  now only allow one photo to be sent.

I recently upgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.5.3 on my iMac/G5, and now, when I try to e-mail more than one photo using the e-mail button on iPhoto, I get the following error message:
*Mail got an error. Can't get paragraph 8 of content of outgoing message IDxxxxxxxxx. Invalid Index.*
The xxxxxxx can be any set of numbers; i.e., 89582272, or 114640000.
    Please help.

I think that is a known problem with iPhoto 4 and Leopard - try postingin teh iPhoto 4 forum - http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=845

  • Cannot e-mail from iphoto

I'm having problems with a lot of my apps since I upgraded to Leopard. I don't know if this is a computability problem or not. I can't download photo's to web pages either? Can anyone give me some help here, it would be appreciated. iphoto 8, ver 7.1.1

From "Mail" I cannot attach photo's. When the iphoto window opens and I click on a photo it doesn't activate the "open" button. I cannot drag and drop, I cannot copy and paste. I want to upload photo's to the craigslist web site and the same thing happens. I can upload photo's from my camera into iphoto however, but can't do anything with them after that.

  • Unable to send pictures with mail from iPhoto

Since yesterday i cannot use iPhoto to send pictures with mail, it just does not open a new mesage in mail. can you help me please? have done cleaning tasks and repeired permissions already. thank you.

    Does anything happen?
Have you deleted the iPhoto Preference file - A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help

  • Sending photos by e-mail from IPhoto

Sometimes Iphoto will not "recognize" the address I specify in the <TO:>
From which program does Iphoto draw its database of addresses??

    Greetings,
iPhoto reads email addresses from the Addressbook program. Make sure that the addressbook card for the person you are emailing to has a first and last name on it's card.
