Mail from my own domain

I’m a newbie to the IPhone and also Mail on the Mac. For years now, I’ve just been using the Yahoo Mail web interface. I’m a ‘Plus’ subscriber, so I can use the web interface to send emails so that they appear to come from ‘[email protected]’.
From what I understand, using the MAIL application, mails will appear to be sent from Yahoo.
1. Is there a way of sending emails from ‘[email protected]’.
2. Is there a way of permanently changing the “Reply To” field within the MAIL application?
Thanks
Brad

It works for me! I use five different email addresses, with a variety of domain names including two I own, one from my ISP, one Bigfoot and one using the domain name of a company I do work for. All the outgoing messages appear with the appropriate 'From' email address. All replies come to dedicated inboxes on my ISP account according to where they were sent from, except that replies to the 'company' address (the last one on the list above) go to that company before being forwarded to me.
All are IMAP accounts.
The only slight difficulty is in trying to send when roaming away from my own internet connection, when some ISPs won't allow sending and showing a different 'From' address. Using an authenticated smtp server seems to fix that, although my ISP says it can't be done!?
I put all the information in the usual 'Accounts' section of the mail preferences and it just seemed to work. The settings have replicated across to my laptop and iPhone as well without a problem. Keep trying!

Email forwarding from my own domain to my verizon email account is taking a long time.
I have email addresses registered at moniker.com.  When I send an email to an email address that is forwarding to my verizon email, it takes a long time to arrive.

Hmmm ... none of the header is showing this hitting the Verizon edge anywhere along the line.   At some point the header has to show the mail transiting vztpa.verizon.com or vzsac.verizon.com which are intake servers for messages headed for Verizon.   What I'm see in the header so far is that it took about 4-6 seconds (depending on what clocks you believe) to make from one end of the connection to the other.
You got this out of your Verizon mailbox?

Can Mail be configured to block all incoming mail from a particular domain? I'd rather it be sent to the bit bucket than sent to a spam folder.

Yes, go in to your rules and set it up for a folder of your choosing.  Click on the mail menu item then select preferences and then click on rules.

  • Exchange 2013 prevent spam from my own domain

    Dear All,
Back in Exchange 2007 we used to prevent spam from own domain by modifying permissions on the Receive Connector, as show on this link.
    http://exchangepedia.com/2008/09/how-to-prevent-annoying-spam-from-your-own-domain.html
When I modify the same permissions on Exchange 2013 Default Front Receive Connector, the spam is still allowed threw.
Is there a different aproche to achieve the same result in Exchange 2013?
    Thank you
    Bujar

    Hi Bujar,
Have you tried to modify the permissions on Exchange 2013 default Hub transport Receive connector?
As we know, for Exchange 2013, there have been major architectural changes to the Exchange server roles. Instead of the five server roles that were present in Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2007, in Exchange 2013, the number of server roles has been reduced
to three: the Client Access server and the Mailbox server, and with Service Pack 1, the Edge Transport server role.
The Exchange 2013 Mailbox server includes all many of the server components found in Exchange 2010: client access protocols, transport services, mailbox databases, and Unified Messaging services (the Client Access server redirects SIP traffic generated from
incoming calls to the Mailbox server). The Client Access server is a thin and stateless server that doesn’t do any data rendering. There’s never anything queued or stored on the Client Access server.
So, I recommend you try to modify the permissions on default hub transport receive connector, it may achieve your requirement .
    Best regards,

  • Mail from my internal domain is not routing e-mail to my subdomain located on googles server

    Exchange 2010, Server 2008,
I've migrated my user accounts with the google migration tool to google's mail servers.  Now I'm having trouble sending e-mail from my domain account to my sub domain accounts at google mail.
    For example
When e-mailing from [email protected] to [email protected] I receive a "Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups: The domain name in the e-mail address is incorrect.  Check the address"
However, If I send an e-mail from other domains such as hotmail.com, yahoo.com, gmail.com the e-mails are successfully sent to [email protected]  I can also successfully send e-mail from hotmail.com, yahoo.com, gmail.com to [email protected]
The mx records provided by google's mail server are properly set.
I believe the problem lies in my exchange server.  It does not recognize the subdomain and seems to be managing the subdomain itself.  The bounce back message I receive is:
    #554 5.4.4 SMTPSEND.DNS.NonExistentDomain; nonexistent domain ##
    Please help

Did you figure this out?  I have the same issue.  I know it's an old post.

According to the above output Messaging Server delivered the email into the INBOX (default folder). If the email is moved from that folder after delivery it is because the email client moved it.
With regards to Thunderbird flagging the email as "Junk", this is because the user hasn't trained the Thunderbird Junk Mail mechanism. I suggest you read up on the operation of the Thunderbird Bayesian filtering mechanism here:

i am on the same platform and in same account..... and PL/SQL UTL_SMTP gets a connection plus SMTP error, while telnet cannot even get a connection. A very weird one. Not sure what the problem can be.
Worse case, forget telnet and do all your troubleshooting using UTL_SMTP.. with liberal usage of DBMS_OUTPUT. :-)
regd. the connection from my xp client it is
connecting to the telnet server on server, but when i
tri to connect to the ISP's smtp address it throws
the errorNot that strange. You're likely going through a proxy of sorts of to reach the ISP mail server. Besides, to send mail you should be able to use your company's SMTP server as it should route Internet e-mail out to the net automatically.
In fact, many SMTP servers will not allow you to relay via them. E.g. if you connect from domain 1 to SMTP server on domain 2, and you submit an e-mail to be delivered to domain 3, the domain 2 server will tell you to take a hike. It will only accept mail that is destined for its own domain or originating from its own domain.
Reason for this is spam. Open relays are one of the prime reasons for having billions of spam mails being transmitted.
The correct method will be for you on domain 1 to connect to domain 1's SMTP server and submit an e-mail to be delivered to domain 3. That will be accepted and delivered. Using domain 2 as an intermediate agent to act as a relay, is/should not be accepted by all SMTP servers. (your SMTP server should get blacklisted/blackholed if it has an open relay)

  • All the mail from my 3 different accounts appears in one INBOX!!

I have a mobile me email account, along with 2 external POP accounts from my own domain, I added them both, and everything works fine, I can send and receive mail, sent folder is OK, drafts, etc. But the thing is that all new mail arrives to my mobile me Inbox, instead of arriving to external account Inbox. This causes a mess, since my mobile me account is personal, and the other POP accounts are from my job. And one more thing, if I try to read my new mail from the external accounts via Safari, it does display anything, it's like my mobile me account is dragging all my messages, Any help on this one, please?

    Hi Manuel
Unless you yourself have set up forwarding from your POP accounts to MobileMe, there is no connection whatsoever between those email accounts.
Click on the small triangle to the left of the Inbox in Mail - it will separate out into your three different account inboxes.
And it sounds like you have set your POP accounts to delete mail from the server once you've received it in Mail. In your Mail account preferences, go to Advanced, and change the Delete from Server option if you also want to see the same messages in webmail.

  • Using my own domain name

I'm thinking of changing my broadband to BT infinity.
This a warning I'm consistently getting from others...
"If you're looking to move to BT I'd strongly recommend you get e-mailed confirmation that the service they provide will allow you to send e-mail out from your own domain name, as many of the consumer BT packages don't allow this, forcing you to use a BT based address. Clearly not suitable considering you have your own domain etc."
Can anyone confirm that using another providers SMTP is permitted, and will work?

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
Not sure where you got that warning from, as in general it's not true.
The only thing that is true, is that ISPs typically prevent access to their smtp servers when not connected to the ISP, and if using a non ISP email address - that needs extra steps to be able to send using the ISP smarthosts (e.g. mail.btinternet.com).
"Home ISPs" are different to specialist domain sellers.
I use BTinternet and my own smtp server name for my domain without any issues.
It actually depends how your domain name has been set up and whether it's just a name, and not specifically using any associated smtp server.
In this case, you need to go through something called address verification (with BTinternet) and associate a domain email address with the BTinternet email address (e.g. see my shortcuts - link below - option 0e).
You typically can't use mail.yourdomain etc as the smtp server, unless that's been specified as part of your domain package - usually at extra cost as you would be using the domain seller's servers.

  • EX2010 Hard Bounce email from one specific domain

    Hi
I have exchange 2010 install no edge role as i use a smart host. lately it seems exchange is bouncing mails from a particular domain, i view the logs in smart host and see the remote host as my external IP. The smart host vendor is saying that its my exchange
server which is bouncing the mail but since i have no edge role. i am puzzle why my server would bounce those mails

ah you have ex 2010. ok let me capture the screen shots for you.. but please let me know do you have any SPAM protection installed like forefront/ Mcafee or Symantec etc or its just plain exchange with inbuild security. if inbuilt security then go to ECP
-> server config -> hub transport and there enter the IP address of destination server whose mails are getting bounced.
make sure in organization config.. --> hub transport -->IP allow is enabled.
Mark as useful or answered if my replies helped you solving your query.

  • Creating a server rule that watches for mail from an external user

We need to create a rule that will watch for incoming mail from an external domain and then forward that mail to an internal distribution list. I don't want it to be tied to an Outlook user. Is this possible? I can't seem to find a way to do this.
    Orange County District Attorney

    Hello,
Please make sure your exchange version.
If you use exchange 2007/2010, there is no this transport rule to realize it. But you can create a transport rule( from users inside or outside the organization; copy the message to addresses) to copy incoming mail from an external domain to your distribution
    list.

  • E72 E-Mail from Scratch

    Hi all
I've been browing through many posts to see to find a solution regarding to the many problems that are being encountered by many users around the world pertaining to the setting up of e-mail accounts and other related issues.  Since I'm tired in trying to find solutions in many threads, lets condense up everything up here.
    So, my issues are:
    1. I would appreciate if someone explains from scratch how to set up an e-mail (an e-mail from a unique domain name, a business for instance (not gmail, hotmail, etc).
    2. i did succeed in setting up the first part, meaning the incoming & otugoing mail server, username and password, but the e-mails are not being sent or neither being received.
    3. beneath the Inbox, I'm just having More Folders as option without Sent Items, etc etc.
    4.  I read somewhere that we need to go to www.email.nokia.com to set up the e-mail over there first of all, then go back to step 1.  But the problem is that on the stated link, there is only the Log in option, without the Registration given.  I log in for the forum page does not work over there.
    5. What is the difference between Mails for Exchange and the Other.
    6.  I would appreciate a free solution instead of buying a software on Ovi to solve this issue as I have had to buy Best Message Storer to solve an Outbox icon issue.  The mobile is quite expensive, so I expect efficient solutions from Nokia instead of injecting more money to solve their bugs.
    7.  If there are other issues that I have not raised up, that you think it's important, I would appreciate you contributing to it; but please keep everything simple and straightforward so as the whole community using this particular mobile can have a rest on all the bugs.
    Thanks.

    Hi All,
I am using Nokia E72. The e-mail used to work properly but lately it was not getting new e-mails at my mobile, I decided to remove the e-mail account and reconfigure it, but I realized that it can't be reconfigured even after I have formatted the phone.....
I still can not configure the e-mail as after I enter e-mail address and password It does not verify and proceed however I have a high speed internet connection....
Any advice would be highly appreciated!
