Mail-gmail can't delete emails

Hi,
I use Mail with gmail. After lots of configuration, now it finally works fine... (not with the suggested configs on gmail help page...) But I was looking for something the other day and typed a keyword in Mail's search field and I surprisingly found tons of emails from March and April. I deleted them back then I guess, but now they are there, but not the actual emails, when I click on them, there is nothing in the text field, they are not in any of the mailboxes, so only the email's sender, subject, date sent in the upper window... I cannot delete these. I tried the Rebuild command, used Onyx, no help... How can I get rid of them?
Thanks,
Qtty

I've had trouble with JavaMail starting on July 21st. I've used the same code for months, but all of a sudden, I can't delete messages from Gmail using the DELETED flag. I open the folder as READ_WRITE, grab the messages from the folder, set the DELETED flag, double check to make sure the DELETED flag was set, then close the folder (setting EXPUNGE to TRUE). Nothing happens. No exception is thrown or message is given, and no messages get deleted from the inbox (they just remain sitting there). I've tried calling the EXPUNGE method manually after setting the DELETED flag, but then it complained that the underlying implementation could not execute the method because the message was READ ONLY!!! I'm out of ideas. I've posted on Google's forums, but every other .NET and command terminal commands seem to still be working. I'm wondering if Gmail altered their configuration to become more compliant with the IMAP protocol, and JavaMail (or its underlying implementation) is still not 100% compliant?
Thanks for your consideration.
Joshua

  • Can't delete emails from "read only" Mail account

I am trying to delete emails to clear hard drive space.
On one of my computer's accounts (ONLY one), the mailboxes have the heading "read only", and I can't delete emails. I don't remember selecting this setting, and I can't find it anywhere.
Can someone please point me in the right direction--how do I turn off the "read only" status of the InBox? And--is that why I can't delete emails??
    Thank you!

  • Can't sign out of iCloud on Yosemite. Mail was unable to delete 'email'.

I have a MacBook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.1 and I'm trying to log out of my iCloud account, but it won't let me. The error message I keep getting says,
"Mail was unable to delete 'email'. Relaunch Mail then sign out of iCloud again."  I get the same message if I try to delete the account from Internet Accounts.
I've tried adding the email account in, but it says it's already there. I've deleted the com.apple.mail folder rebooted and tried and still the same thing.
The supervisor and engineers at Apple phone support have yet to find a solution for this other than wiping my system clean and starting fresh. That's definitely not my preference.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Stacy

I had the same issue. I rebooted to safe mode by holding the shift key at boot up. From there I went to System Preferences, iCloud, and I was able to finally sign out.
    Hope this works for you.

  • Can't delete email since updating to 10.5.3

Since I updated my OSX to 10.5.3 three days ago, I can't delete email messages in Mail. I get the following error message "The destination mailbox “(null)” does not allow messages to be moved to it."
I've rebuilt mailboxes, deleted trash mailboxes, rebooted, etc, etc, to no avail. Anyone else experiencing this? Does this have something to do with the update?

    Richard,
With this last report, along with the first, it would appear that Mail may have taken the account Offline during the time .mac was down, and it is still Offline. This is not the same as being connected to the internet, but related to the account only. Is there any symbol beside the mailboxes associated with this .mac account?
If you have more than one account, click on Mailbox in the menubar and place the cursor on Online Status -- for the .mac account is Take "the account name" Online presented, or only Offline? If you have only the one account, the the first entry in the pull down with either say Take Account Online or Offline.
Although with a .mac account (setup as account type .mac/IMAP) the Inbox and messages reside on the server, the index in Mail has the list of messages -- just not the content.
Btw, you say the last Update -- if your OSX is 10.5.3, then please change your settings in the discussions Profile.

  • After settings update can,t delete email without opening it

After settings update can,t delete email without opening it

In your mail list, do you see the word 'edit'? If you choose that then you can select whatever mails you want gone and delete them at once.

  • Can not delete email

Since upgrading to 2.2 I can not delete email. When I try to delete, I get a message that says "Unable to Move Message The message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash." I see that other people had the same problem as referenced here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8512901&#8512901 but their problem went away, and mine remains. Have restarted the phone to no avail. Any advise? Thanks.

Do you go to your settings under Mail, Contacts, Calendars and select your mail account and then go to Advanced settings and make sure Deleted Mailbox says On My iPhone and then the TRASH folder is seleted? Maybe try also unchecking the TRASH folder and rechecking it.
Sometimes if you have another e-mail account besides the ones that your having trouble with, try deleted mail from it and then go back to the trouble account and try again.

  • Can't Delete Email from .Mac

    Hi,
I'm having an issue where I can't delete email from my .Mac account using the web interface or the Mail client. I receive the following error message when I try to delete messages:
"Mail was unable to remove the deleted message in the mailbox ".Mac" on server "mail.mac.com". The server error encountered was: The connection to the server "mail.mac.com" on port 143 time out."
This problem just surfaced today and I can't find any information on the .Mac website. Thanks for any help.
    Cheers,
    Ignats

I was hoping that it would be a temporary issue but it is still continuing 24 hours later. I'm fairly certain that it is not an issue with the Mail client because I can delete email from my other accounts; still can't delete email from my .Mac account. I continue to receive the error message in my original post.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Thanks m.bode for responding to my question.

It's very easy to do - open up the music app, find the song/artist/album you want to delete and then swipe on it right to left and press 'delete'. Once you have done this it will take up no more space on your device whether it's in the cloud or not.
If the song is still appearing in the music app with a little cloud next to it then you can stop it from showing by going into settings, music, and turning off 'show all music'. Note that this will remove ALL songs from the music app that have the cloud next to it (the cloud means they are in the cloud, online, but not stored on the device) and if you want to play them you will have to open itunes and redownload it, or change this setting back to on.
Let me know if you need any more help!
