Pterobyte- I seen your suggestions on the other similiar post and cannot seem to find anything wrong in those areas.
I am enclosing current postconf & smtplog for your info.
Let me know if there is anything else you need.

Jeff:
I have gotten hostname as you suggested, and thus far seen one Helo failure prior to that, so thanks for the tip.
The queue is running like 150k to 170k, I've got content filter off right in order to isolate problems.
This wrong account issue is causing some severe creditability issues with this server as you can imagine.
Thanks for the help.

  • Mail going to wrong account

Two of my mail servers that I manage are delivering mail to the wrong account
for example some emails sent to say [email protected] are ending up in [email protected]
If you look at the header sam is not a recipient nor is she a forward in aliases
any help would be greatfully recieved

These are possible causes for an e-mail to end up in the wrong place:
    -additional shortnames in WGM
    -forward set in WGM
-a .forward file in the user's mail directory
    -an alias in /etc/postfix/aliases
    -an alias in /etc/postfix/virtual
    -a sieve script
    -a bcc
    -a catchall account
-an autoforward by the original recipient
    Hope I didn't miss any.
You should check all these possibilities. If you still need help, post relevant log entries and the unmodified output of postconf -n

  • Incoming mail goes to wrong mailbox

I recently created a rule in Mail to send all messages from a certain address to a specific mailbox. Trouble is, now about 50% of ALL my mail goes to that mailbox (instead of the Inbox), even if it doesn't come from the address specified in the rule.
What do I need to do to make sure that incoming messages not otherwise directed by one of my rules all end up in my Inbox?

It sounds like an error in the mail rule.  Pay particular attention to the Any or All criteria.

  • Mail defaulting to wrong account when replying

I have my wife and my accounts both in Mail. Sometimes, when I do a reply, it defaults as coming from my wife's account instead of mine (even though the message was to me), which is super annoying.
    The details are this:
    - message comes addressed to both my wife and I (and several other people);
    - message is manually moved from my account folder to a folder I made for that topic;
    - maybe a few weeks later, I select that message and click "reply all";
    - I type up my reply and hit "send", expecting the Mail program to default to either:
       a) the account the message was originally sent to;
       b) the first account in the accounts list under Preferences;
Either one would be my account, not my wife's.
The problem is people reply (not "reply all") to my message and it goes to my wife's account, not mine, and I don't see it.
How do I get Mail to default to use my account as the sender?
    Thanks!

  • Mail goes to wrong box

My incoming mail automtically goes to a deleted messages folder without going to my inbox. I obviously have clicked the wrong button, but I can't seem to figure it out. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you confirmed that both the Addressbook and the Previous Recipients info is present and complete? For example, if the Previous Recipients were somehow corrupted, then all messages would go there regardless of whether in the AB. For the Rule as written with the OR, both address listing would have to be identical. I would think you meant a test that would use AND.
But having noted this, I would not expect every message to trigger the move, unless something has gone wrong with one of the source listings. In the Finder, open Home/Library/Applications Support/AddressBook. Check the date of last modification of the file named MailRecents.v4 is it recent or stale?

  • I have multi email accounts in TB but all mail goes to one account...Why?

I have multiple email accounts in TB on my MAC but all the email goes to the first account listed.
These are not my real account names but here is an Example:
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
All email goes to the [email protected] account in TB. I want the emails that are address to [email protected] to populate in the [email protected] inbox. I want the emails that are address to [email protected] to populate in the [email protected] inbox.
    How do I fix this?

Sounds like you have selected them to use a different Inbox or maybe a Global Account (Local Folders.)
    check this:
Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings for the mail account
    or
3bar menu icon > Options > Account Settings > Server Settings
    click on 'Advanced' button
Select: 'Inbox for this servers account'
    click on OK
You would need to do this for each mail account.

I have 4 email accounts in apple Mail.  My mail is sending from the wrong account.  even on "reply" it sends from a different account.  I have 3 gmail accounts and one exchange server account. I choose which account to send from and it still sends from the same gmail account.  Help.

I HAD two accounts because of this problem.  I completely removed the problem account from the Apple Mail client.  Guess what is happening??  That's right - Mail is still sending from the other account that no longer exists on my computer, and I have absolutely no idea how this is happening.  This is incredibly frustrating.  When a recipient chooses to reply to my message, quite often I won't get it now because it is going to the other account that has now been deleted from my system.  COME ON APPLE!!! WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THIS???

  • Multiple copies of e-mails in the wrong family account.

I have a family account for MobileMe set up with only two accounts, one for my wife and one for me.
MobileMe syncs 3 computers (iBook, new MacBook and a 24" iMac all running OS X 10.5.6) and an iPhone 2.5G and an iPod touch.
When an e-mail is sent to my wife, it appears 3 times in my InBox and not at all in her InBox. Messgaes sent to me only appear once, correctly, in my InBox.
Has anyone any ideas about what could be causing this? For instance, does having 3 computers have some bearing on it?
    John

A further thought is that multiple e-mails in the wrong InBox only occurs when the sender has a mac.com or me.com account. I have noticed that "outside" e-mails addressed to my wife go into her InBox correctly.
But this may not be true of all e-mails.
Also, after making some changes to my Mail prefs, I am now only getting 2 e-mails in the wrong box!
Note: I was reducing the choices for incoming mail servers. No smpt.mac.com. Only smpt.me.com.

  • When I send an email with Mail, I often confuse the account which I'm using. The result is that I send a message with the wrong account! Is there a way to avoid this (for example a reminder before the email is sent)?

When I send an email with Mail, I often confuse the account which I'm using. The result is that I send a message with the wrong account! Is there a way to avoid this (for example a reminder before the email is sent)?

Hi, thanks for the answer, I did that already. Unfortunatly this doesn't help me at all, as I often forget to check the menu. For me composing the message is writing the text, the subject, the person to who is addressed and than press "send".
I often forget to check the "from", and this is a problem because the software select itself one of the accounts.
Isn't there a way at least to put as a default a blank field instead of one of the accounts? or an account which doesn't work so if I forget to specify the "from" I will be rnotofied that the message can't be sent.
I guess this could be a rather common problem for many people!
    Thanks

  • Mail with multiple gmail accounts sending messages from wrong email, other than the one i select

mail with multiple gmail accounts sending messages from wrong email, other than the one i select:
i'm using mail on osx 10.7 with multiple gmail accounts. when i create an email, i check to be sure i'm sending/replying from the correct account. after i send it, somehow it actually sends it from a different account, other than the one i've selected "from." this is evidenced by the reply email i receive. how can i fix this?
in preferences, i have "send new messages from : account of selected mailbox"

From the Mail menu bar, select
              Mail ▹ Preferences...
The Mail preference dialog opens. Select the Composing tab from the row of icons at the top. From the menu labeled
              Send new messages from:
    choose
              Account of selected mailbox
Note that this setting may have no effect if you start a new message while a VIP or smart mailbox is selected in the mailbox list. Those are saved searches, not actual mailboxes.
If the problem remains, select the Accounts tab in the preference dialog, then select the affected account in the list on the left.
In the Account Information pane, select the correct server in the menu labeled
              Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
If there's only one server in the menu, select
              Edit SMTP Server List...
and add a new server with the correct settings. If you're not sure how to do that, try the Mail Settings Lookup.
Another possibility is that the wrong card in your address book is selected as yours. Select your card in the Contacts application. Then select
Card ▹ Make This My Card
    from the menu bar.

  • My mail goes out with  wrong (my wife's) email address

My email (I use Apple Mail via gmail.com)  goes out and may indicate to the recipient that it is from my wife’s account at gmail.com.     She once used my Macbook for email, but now uses her own Macbook.   She is not listed as a User on my Macbook Pro.    I have eliminated her account from Internet Accounts in System Preferences.  I have eliminated her account from Mail Preferences,  via the Accounts tab.   I have eliminated her links to gmail in Keychain access.   I still may have a recipient  of my email receive mistakenly her email address as the sender.     I do not see any references to her email in My User Library Preferences folder.    In Mail Preferences, Composing Tab,  my email address is listed as the one to send emails from.   Any help is much appreciated.

Go into Mail's Accounts preference pane and delete the Gmail account that's there.  Next add your Gmail account back with your ID and password for the account.

  • Why is mail being sent from wrong account

I am trying to send mail from a specific account, however even though it is showing as the correct account when it is received it is from my partners account.  I have followed the @mail@ set up and checked everything - which appears to be ok - but it is still wrong somewhere.  HELP please.

I am having this same issue.  I have several accounts (all .live) which I use for my various different jobs.  Frequently now I am sending a mail, or replying to a mail, and it is being received from the wrong account.
    - I check the account at the top of the mail that I am sending is correct.
    - the mail listed in my 'Sent' folder shows as being sent from the correct account.
    - When a client replies to my mail, the reply comes to an incorrect account, and on their email the heading for my original mail shows the incorrect email address & name.
    - the email accounts seem to be random - not always the same incorrect one is used.
