Mail got deleted
How do I reinstall mail? I deleted it because I use another email application, however, you need to use mail to make that the primary email application. How do I reinstall mail?
You do so with the OS X install package that shipped with your Mac.

If the OS X version included with your install package is not 10.4.8 which isn't likely, you need to download the 10.4.8 Combo Update (Intel) and re-install 10.4.8 to get the Mail.app to the current version as of 10.4.8 if you plan on using the application but not required for changing the default email reader.

So, I went to check my iPhone for my aol e-mail, and all of it was deleted except for an ad. After panicing, I went on aol.com and found that all of it was in junk mail. I restored it all, and aside from all my spam now being in my inbox, it was fine. It also worked on the apple mail program on my iMac. But when i went onto my phone again, the only mail that had been restored was from two months ago, and mail recieved after that point in time (AOL postmaster when I tried calling for help). When I asked my son, his iPod Touch had the same issue. Any help/ suggestions? I have an iPhone 4s on verizon, and my son has an iPod Touch 4g.

Retrieval of Mail Id's present in Distribution lists which has got deleted!
Hi All,
We are facing a problem regarding the deletion of distribution lists (reason not known) and they were retrieved from the trash folder in SBWP (SAP Business Work Place - the SAP inbox). But there was no trace to go back and look who deleted it and what all distribution lists were deleted. We can retrieve only when something is there in the trash folder. If not in trash folder, then itu2019s gone forever and we cannot retrieve.
So we have implemented two OSS notes. Now we are able to get the details i.e. the name of the distribution list as well as who has deleted it.
Now we need to find the mail Idu2019s present in distribution lists which has got deleted.
We have done some analysis but not able to do this.
So can anybody provide needful information.

Mail Inbox Deleted During Mail Crash
I am running a G4 Powerbook 10.3.9 and mail locked up and crashed. My Inbox is wiped out. Last July, I accidentally deleted my read sent emails but that was intentional (as in I thought I was in the Trash window, selected All and Deleted but as I was in my Sent window, that's what got deleted). I bought Data Rescue II and was able to restore a almost all of my deleted Sent email.
So I tried to do the same today. I recovered large "mail" files to the CBR folder. These files are marked as Mail-00034.mbox where the number goes up. Some files are 100MB while others are smaller. I also recovered the INBOX.mbox file but I cannot import either file type into Mail (as in the Import Mailbox function).
I have recovered plenty of big files but none that can be imported into mail. Any thoughts. Thanks in advance

1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/.
3. Locate Outbox.mbox and move it to the Desktop if you want to preserve the messages waiting there, or just trash it otherwise.
BTW, if you’re using Mac OS X 10.3.9, as your profile indicates, it would be more appropriate to discuss this in the Mail & Address Book - Mac OS X 10.3 & earlier forum. If the discussion applies to both Mail 1.x and Mail 2.x, it doesn’t really matter, but it’s difficult to know that in advance.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.
You can save your mail preferences in a safe place first, just in case, you want to create a new account (user) and see if this is another way to avoid problems -

If you still can't find it after checking restrictions and re-setting the home page layout, then it has most likely been removed as a result of a policy tied to a corporate Exchange account set up on your phone.
If you set up your work e-mail, try removing the account. If it comes back when you do, and vanishes again when you set it back up, then you're going to have to take the issue up with your IT department. They are enforcing a policy that will prevent web browsing on devices connected to the corporate Exchange server.
Hint: IT people are quite fond of Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Aged at least 12 years, preferably 16-18 years. Don't get cheap on them! -
After 10.5.5 update, most of my Mail accounts deleted
After doing the 10.5.5 update, I go to Mail, and all but one (my dot Mac) of my business email accounts were deleted. The program asked me if I wanted to see what was new. But actually I wanted to see what was old, like all my important emails. Hundreds of them. The lifesblood of my work. All gone. The only thing preserved was my dot Mac, excuse me, MobileMe account mails.
My smart mailboxes were still there, with many items listed in them, but they were not in my Inbox, and when I selected one, the content area was blank.
Mail Created new folders called "Delivered" and "Delivered 1" but these were empty.
Trashing the prefs did nothing. Repairing permissions did nothing. How can I get my accounts (9) and old emails back?
How on earth could a software update destroy so much important stuff? Does Apple test these things before releasing them?I had a similar problem with a gmail account. I used data rescue II costs $99 and was able to recover all e-mails that had got deleted.

Mountain Lion Mail randomly deletes messages: locally and from server
Hello,
Mountain Lion Mail deletes mails randomly, locally and from the IMAP server.
I have confirmed this for a fact:
- I have been forwarded lost mails to another (webmail) account: the timestamps indicate that some mails were lost somewhere before I ever saw them on Mail
- my mail service provider confirmed that their logs show mails that I never saw on Mail
- the lost mails don't appear via webmail, either, i.e. they're not on the server

I became aware of this as my customer referred on the phone to messages from them that I had never seen. And, Mail deletes messages randomly from the IMAP server too - it's literally eating messages!
No, this is not a rule issue. No, this is not anything I could have done to cause. This should be evident as very many others are experiencing the same (see the above links).
This is the worst bug I've ever encountered in any Apple product.
Apple need to acknowledge this and address it, like, immediately.
Is there a fix for this? One that works 100% - I really can't risk not receiving business e-mail.
br JanneI'm experiencing something similar. I see a message being received in Mountain Lion via notification. When I'm going to look for this mail, it's gone.
I dont't have any rules set up and no mail plugins installed. The mail is also vanished from the server. I'm using IMAP on my own web-site (via a service provider). I was able to verify, that a certain message from a certain sender dissapeard, which had a PDF attached. I thought it might have something to do with my ISPs virus protection, but they a) insured me, that they don't delete any mail and b) I got a new mail from someone I don't know this morning. Again: Saw the notification, afterwards the mail is gone.
For now, I will switch to ThunderBird (this was also the recommendation of my ISP).

ICal and Eudora: Mail got an error...
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem. At one point last year I was using Eudora, I've since gone back to Mac mail. When I'm in iCal and go to accept an invitation, I get a pop up window with the following message: iCal and Eudora: Mail got an error: Can't get <<class euMF>>"". I've looked everywhere i could think of in iCal for email association and I feel dumb as a box of hair. Anyone?

BruceWhen I installed Eudora, there was an integration script by a that needed to be removed, here it is: To remove this and revert to using Mail you can open iCal as a package,
go to the Resources->Scripts folder, delete Mail.scpt and rename OldMail.scpt to Mail.scpt. You will have to do the same for iCal Helper, which can be found in the CalendarStore.framework (within System->Library->frameworks).

Is it the application itself that was deleted from the /Applications folder of is it the icon on the dock that got deleted?
If it is the icon just drag it back from the Application folder to the dock. If if is the app you will need to get the application off your install disks. You could either re-install the OS or use something like Pacifist to get the mail application off the disk. -
PLEASE HELP!!! Somehow my entire iTunes library got deleted, and I cannot sync all my music that I put on from cd's (which I no longer have). All the purchased music has been synced, but nothing else! All my other devices are synced with iCloud and lost the material as well ... I am so frustrated, because the nano has not been working properly, and I am afraid of losing it forever, and of course the cd's I backed everything with are MIA!!!! GRRR! Please HELP!!!

My sap MMC tree, got deleted in the server. I have been trying to restore since 2 days and couldnt succeed, please help me.
1) i have uncared the sapmmc.sar from Kernal\NT\I386\MMC\sapmmc.sar file
2) i got about 7 files, in which there is one sapmmc file i have tried to double click it, n check but no go.
3) i also tried to run the Sapstartsrv.exe file and fill in up the values in pop up window. & filled up the following values :-
SID: DEV
NR: 00
StartProfile: (entire start profile path given)
user: devadm
passwd; (given)
- but it says "the account name is invalid or does not exist or the password is invalid for account name specified"/
- no go in both the cases.
Please need help very urgent.

Cisco Unity Express 8.6.6 Voice Mail not deleting when e-mail with attachment deleted
I have a Cisco Unity Communications Manager rel 9.1.2 that supports a remote location with a Unity Express rel 8.6.6 voice mail service module in the voice gateway to insure if WAN goes down the location still has voice mail. We have Voice Mail to E-Mail working. The problem is that when the e-mail with the voice mail is deleted the message stays in the Unity Express Voice Mail Box. All of our local users on the same Call Manager Cluster using a local Unity Connection Cluster rel 9.1.2 have the voicemails deleted when the e-mail is deleted.
How can I resolve this issue?Found another post that referenced Cisco Bug ID CSCti37610.
CUC plays message is from Unity Connection Messaging system
Symptom:Before message playback, Unity Connection plays the message is from Unity Connection Messaging System instead sender's ANI
Conditions:Problem was observed on Unity Connection cluster and appropriate services are not rebooted after changing the SMTP domain name
Workaround:
Restart the Unity Connection servers
It should have been fixed in 8.5 but we did change the SMTP domain name on 8.6 and now see the problem. Will schedule a reboot and see if the issue goes away. -
Mail issues on iOS 8 (unread mail, accidental deletions)

ever since I updated my iPad 4 to iOS 8, I have had problems with my mail app. I hoped that it was a glitch and that updates would fix it, but now I'm on 8.1.2 and things remain the same. Here's what is troubling me:
The new unread e-mails in "All inboxes" are shown in parentheses behind each folder on the Mailboxes screen. (Same is true for the top left "Mailboxes" link while I'm reading an e-mail on landscape orientation.) Now, while the e-mails themselves lose the little blue dot as soon as I open an e-mail, the parentheses-marker remains the same, signalling to me that there are unread e-mails. Or rather: As I flip through my unread e-mails, all but one are registered as read. In the end, the top left corner always still says "Mailboxes (1)" even when I've read all e-mails. The only way to get rid of that "(1)" is by selecting another read e-mail. Then it disappears.
When swimping e-mails to lefts to reveal the options menu, half the time I don't even get far enough t reveal the red "delete" button before the e-mail is deleted automatically. I hardly dare swiping important e-mails to the left anymore because they might be deleted accidentally. (This is particularly annoying if I want to flag an e-mail.)
Rarely, but often enough to bother me, the mail app crashes while typing or reading an e-mail.
These are enough problems to make me ask for help. Would resetting the network settings help? Does anyone else have these problems? It's all involving the Mail app. Should I switch to a third party mail app instead?

NilsI have the exact same issue! Works smooth as butter on iOS 8.1 but not Yosemite... I'm running the pre-seed beta Yosemite update which supposedly fixes some Exchange issues but it hasn't fixed this one!

my macbook's safari wont open. At first it got deleted and so i got it back by bluetooth and now it wont open because of the version of mac OS X update.
