Mail has locked

I have just turned on my iMac after being away 3 months.
Mail says it has 1553 emails to load.
Mail Activity shows incoming messages but the rate is 0 Kbs/s. It has loaded 66 emails and then stops.
I have tried using the X to cancel all these emails but that does not work.
It will not bring in current emails and this is a problem.
Please what do I do?

Go to  > Force Quit or press Alt, Command and Esc keys, choose Mail and close it, so you will be able to turn off the MacBook

Quit the Mail app then reset your device.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it jiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

You have two devices that access the same email account with POP configuration, this lock the access from another device.

You may not have done anything but glitches happen when systems are old and if you are still on 10.3 perhaps it's time to update or upgrade a few notches. Or are you on a different OS to your profile?

I have tried to restart the game on my IPAD and it brings the game up but when you get to the play command, nothing happens. Anyone else have this problem? My Mom typed in the wrong email address and now her mail is locked. It states that it can't be sent because the server rejected one of the recipient's addresses. The message has been placed in your Outbox. Now when I go to the outbox I can not access it. It is like it's locked. She has and IPad version 1. Any help would be appreciated.

If you can't use the mail app now - if it is frozen - quit the app and restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close mail by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down onthe mail app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

There are a few applications out now that may be able to help you out. 1Password and LastPass are both password vault or lockers. They allow you to save passwords for applications and websites. That way you have a single password you use to keep the vault/locker secure and then all of your other passwords are stored for you so you don't have to write them down or try to remember them all.

Mail.app locks up when opening a mail with an attachment

Hopefully someone has run into this before. Our Mac users connect to exchange using IMAP. However, the Intel based users have their mail app lock up when they receive an email with an attachment. So for I havn't been able to find any info on the web, and the non-specific instructions I've found for general maintenance of mail.app have not lead to a resolution either.
So far I've definitely narrowed it down to the Intel based users. Which is a problem because the non-intel users will be switching fairly soon. The general maintenance items I have tried include indexing the mail envelope, I gave one a reboot, but since it did not fix the problem did not try to restart the rest.
The mail.app version varies but is occurring in but most (working and non) are version 2.1.3, one is 2.1.1.

Ok, so since posting the original question I still have no resolution. Over the weekend I have applied all updates and am ruling out the server. Have setup exchange for POP3 access and setup a workstation to pop the mail over but it still hangs up mail.app. I have also attempted setting the client up for "exchange mode".
All of our intel based systems freeze when a message with an attachment is opened. The file types range from pdf (created with both acrobat and cutepdf) to illustrator documents.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated...

Process can't access file bcos another process has locked a portion of file

Does anyone knows if Java could handle the well-known "Open File" problem.
I encounter the following error when I was trying to copy an outlook file to another location:
java.io.IOException: The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file.
My codes is placed below for reference.
Note that I was only trying to open to open the file for reading the Inputstream. Please advise what I could do to avoid getting caught in exception while reading the bytes.
It will be good if Java could handle the Microsoft's "Open File" problem.

I also knows Microsoft locks a lot of other files too.

Bought an iPad Air and have a small problem. When I try to swipe to read mail from lock screen, it won't go directly to the mail app itself. Can anyone help or tell me what the problem is??

That's what I would have thought, but even after saving the setting, as soon as I shut down my computer or log out of Mail, it automatically defaults back to 25. It's a bit frustrating.
Now I just need to figure out how to get rid of those horrible pop-up banners but still have my glass sound and number of emails in the red dot when I get an email...
These little tweaks are the only thing I HATE about upgrading my OS.

My Iphone 4 has locked me out. Homescreen will show up but cannot get slider to open keypad. SOmetimes if I tap enough things the key pad will display. When I enter the passcode it will not register. If I hit each passcode number twice it will register but then tells me I have the wrong code. I also have boxes and rectangles that appear to highlight items which never used to come up. Anyone have any experience with something like this?

Mail has crashed and cannot re-open

Mail has crashed - Computer crashed - running on external drive because internal is cooked and waiting for parts. Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Go to Library/Containers/com.apple.mail. Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Restart, re-launch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. You can then put the folder in the Trash. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.
