Mail has stopped filtering junk

Mail has stopped filtering messages as junk in all my mailboxes. It happened a couple weeks ago, and I have been continuing to mark junk messages as Junk in order to re-train it, but without success.
I thought my mailboxes may be too big, so I moved 3 year's worth of messages from the Inbox to an archive folder. I deleted the Mail Envelope Index file and re-started mail to have it re-built, but that didn't work either.
I have 2 other macs - one on Tiger and one on Leopard - that both still are filtering just fine.
Any ideas?

  • AHHH! Mail has stopped filtering Junk mail! WHY!? How to fix?

This actually strarted happening on our G5 about a year ago. I dealt with it because we were getting a new computer soon.
    I'm running OSX 10.8.2 and Mail Version 6.2 (1499)
I've been getting a bunch of junk mail lately and I wasn't paying any attention really but yesterday I made a note to click on a specific email and hit the Junk button.
This email in particular is some spam about Credit Ratings. The email is from "Scores Update <[email protected]>"
The email yesterday was from "Scores Update <[email protected]>"
Different email address but still, shouldnt it still filter to the junk anything that says "Scores Update" since I flagged that as spam?

I've deleted all future appointments from the Hotmail calendar.
I've left the iPad overnight "thinking" about removing Calendar from iCloud and gave up this morning.
My son has school information on the iPad.
    Please help???
    Regards,
    Anthony

  • Get Mail to Stop Downloading Junk from Exchange Server

Our company uses Comcast Business Class for email service. They in turn are running Exchange 2007 servers.
I recently had to reconfigure all my email accounts do to a corrupt Mail plist. Upon doing so, I found out about Mail 4.2's (Snow Leopard edition) ability to auto discover Exchange server configurations. Pretty nifty. With one caveat. Apple Mail is downloading all the Junk mail that winds up on the Exchange server. Which is quite a bit.
Originally, before the corrupt plist problem, my Mail 4.2 was upgraded from Leopard and the account information transferred using the non-auto discovery method, if you will. When it was setup that way, there were only about two or three Junk messages that breached the barrier per day. Now I'm getting dozens.
On to my question: is there a way to configure Mail to stop downloading Junk mail from an Exchange server and just leave the Junk on the Exchange server?

    Thanks, William.
They are, fortunately, being filtered into my Junk folder in Mail. There is the occasional culprit who sneaks through to my Inbox, but most wind up where they should. It's just the increase in volume to that Junk folder that has me concerned.
Additionally, if a non-Junk message gets erroneously tagged, I no longer have the option I once had to set the message as "This is not Junk". That used to appear as a graphic and button at the top of the message. It seems like I no longer have that capability.

  • Since upgrading to Mountain Lion autocorrect in Mail has stopped.

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion auto-correct in Mail has stopped working. I deleted com.apple.mail and reinstalled Mail, based on other's suggestions. At that point auto-correct in Mail began working. However, when I did that I began getting invalid certificate errors and outgoing mail stopped on my major email account, which is unacceptable. So I reversed that "fix" and replaced com.mail.apple with the Mountain Lion version of that file and the errors stopped. However, auto-correct stopped working again as well. Help!

While composing a message, do this in Mail's menu:
Go to Edit > Spelling & Grammar > Correct Spelling Automatically and check that row.

I am currently volunteering in Uganda, so data is precious. I can no longer afford unlimited data, I pay by MB/GB. All of a sudden Mail has stopped receiving. I wait until about 60meg, but no new mail. Using Gmail. Connectivity Doctor says connected fine. No probs there. And weirdly, when I want to send an email. I write it, it takes absolutely ages to try to send but as soon as I click disconnect it sends the email. Very odd. I would just love to be able to write all my emails offline and save to drafts/Outbox and then just connect to send and check emails then disconnect again.

  • MAIL has stopped working ever since I upgraded to OS10.4.7 ? Please help!

    Hi All,
My mail has stopped working(Sending and Recieving both) the moment I upgraded to OS 10.4.7
Someone at work had the same issue when they upgraded to 10.4.7 and after trying for a while when they went back to OS10.4.6 the mail started working again. I dont want to go back to OS 10.4.6
    Please help.
    Thanks and regards,

    Hi Adnan,
The Mac OS X 10.4.7 Update introduced connection issues as a result of (according to the documentation) "Mail now supports connecting to mail servers through a SOCKS proxy". If that's the problem, you must go to System Preferences > Network and disable the SOCKS Proxy in the network configuration used to connect to the Internet, if it's enabled.

  • My mail has stopped sending. I can receive but I can't send.

My mail has stopped sending, even though I can still send via my iPod. Mail on my iMac can receive but not send. I've tried deleting the talktalk account and starting a fresh, but it's not made any difference. This has just started to happen, I was sending quite happily until now. Does anyone have a solution?
I get a message saying: Cannot send message using the server smtp.talktalk.net:(followed by my email address)

I would think that at the very LEAST you would be eligible for a COMPLETE refund of ALL charges for insurance paid thru Verizon!  They were charging you for something you were ineligible for!  Verizon has a record of whether or not you purchased the phone from them - otherwise how could they deny the claim!
It very sad to see how customer service and customer satisfaction has been lost here ... !

  • Apple Mail has stopped talking to the server, or so it seem

My Apple Mail has stopped talking to the server (Mobile Me), or so it seems. I was sending a couple of attachments the other day and too late realised that they were huge. They were PDF's I'd done, and I hadn't checked the size, so I ended up with 32Mb of attachments on a single email.
This seemed to mess things up. I tried deleting the sending message from Mail as I couldn't seem to stop it sending, which I think I managed to do, but it kept reappearing in the drafts and deleted folders.
I can access mail fine from Mobile Me and have managed to send what I needed from there, but now Mail doesn't seem to connect to the server (I just get the wheel), and whilst its trying my other mail accounts, which are on another ISP, disconnect.
Mail is giving me an error message now when I try to quit: +"Some actions taken while the account "me.com" was offline could not be completed online"+. The additional info says that operation could not be completed: MFMessageErrorDomain error 1028
Can anyone point me in the right direction to resolve this?
    Many thanks...

    R,
Not looking the correct place. Home means to click on he Icon of House that represents your user account folder as found in the sidebar of every Finder window. Then in that User Library. You clicked on the hard drive icon, but then looked in the Library at its root level -- wrong Library.
Also can be written as ~/Library.

Two providers are more reliable than one. But free services are less reliable than paid ones. For business I would never suggest free email, when it goes down (and they all do) all you can do is wait.

  • Mail has stopped synching with .mac

Hi there ... not sure why but Mail has stopped automatically synching with my .mac account. I haven't changed any settings and it has been working well for almost a year. For some reason now I need to go to the menu "Mailbox -> "Synchronize .Mac Account". I am using OS 10.3.9. Any help greatly appreciated.

Mail has stopped retrieving messages from Yahoo email account.  I deleted the account, cleared Safari history and recreated the account.  Successfully retrieved all folders and contents of folders but no messages.  Watching the Activity, it appeared to be retrieving the messages but none appear.  Looking at the log, I can see FETCH error server.  Not sure where to go from here to resolve the issue.  Thanks for your help.

Have had  this happen before and had to upgrade to Maverick to cure it.
