Mail - How do I edit contacts?

Hi I am not asking how I launch the address bar from the dock.
I would like to know how, in mail and looking at my inbox, how I can edit a contact's details?
I know this is done in that awfull 'address book' app but how, from mail, do I launch address book to the contact in my inbox?
I cannot see any context menu that switches to this contact in edit mode (or similar). It must be there though? surely i do not have to launch the address book app and then search for the contact?
Thanks.

Select a contact you want to edit followed by selecting the Edit button at the top right. When finished, select Done.
After selecting Edit for a contact, there is also a red DELETE CONTACT button at the bottom.

  • How to easily edit contacts for N95 8G?

    Hi all!
I would like to edit my contacts in the computer to pass them latter to N95 8G. For me, it's slow to edit them in the cell phone. Could I edit them in the computer? How could I do that?
    Thank you all in advance.

You could use Nokia PC Suite ( http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite ) with its Contacts editor.
You could use PC Suite and synchronize with Outlook.
You could even edit contacts as .vcf files and import them on the phone (put the files in \Other\Contacts in the mass memory, and use the Contacts app to copy the contacts from the files).

  • Apple Mail: How do I add contacts to address book?

In the Apple Mail program, there is an option to add sender to address book. But when I do that, it just adds the sender to my address book, oftentimes without a name associated to the contact. So that contact could easily get lost.
I'd like to be able to add a sender from Apple Mail, then, at a later point, go to the address book and review who I've added, and edit their information.
Is there a way to add the sender to the address book, and have that contact added to a default folder within address book. That way I could later go back and review a bunch of contacts I've added at the same time. Thanks.

Adding an address to Address Book opens Address Book so that you can edit the card before saving it.  Is that not happening for you, or is that happening but you want to ignore it until you're ready to go add other information?
If the latter, you could always create a smart group in Address Book with the criteria "Name" "is not set".  Then just go in now and then and add names to everything in that group.  Of course, the problem with this technique is you may have to go back and find that address in Mail and refresh your memory as to who it belongs to.  It would probably be quicker, overall, to just add the name at the time you're adding the contact.

  • How to mass-edit contacts in Address Book? and how to group them?

    Hi
I have many contacts I imported from Excel in csv or I hurriedly added to my Palm cellular, so as many phone numbers have the area code and others dont't. I would like to edit them, to have the area code in all of them. I could do that easily in excel, but a can't find an export option to do that. Who could suggest me a way?
Another thing is that a used smart groups to group my contacts, but I can't assign a color to each group, nor make Mail recognize contacts in incoming or outgoing emails as pertaining to one of those groups.
    Helps welcome.
    João

There is a shareware application Address Book Exporter which should allow you to export your contacts so that you can edit them in Excel and then re-import them.
No, you can't assign a colour to a group, whether smart or normal. If you would like Mail to colour the messages by group set up a rule for each group in Mail's Preferences/Rules. Each rule would be something like "If sender is a member of group Friends set background colour to green"

  • How to sync edited contacts in MfE BOTH WAYS betwe...

    Hi,
The contacts via MfE are only syncing in one direction when edited: phone-->google
If I change something in some of my google contacts and then sync to my phone it is not working. However if I add a new contact in gmail then it is created and synced properly to my phone
The only updates are from the phone to google, not the other way around. If I edit a contact in my phone then it syncs properly to gmail.
Nokia Team an support, any ideas??? Please... Am I doing something wrong?

When entering a new event in iCal be sure your "google" calendar is highlighted on the left had side of your screen. That makes Google your default calendar as you add events. Or you can choose which calendar from the drop-down box in the details box when adding a new entry. The down side is that is seems you can only select one Calendar; so the "Home", "Work", "Untitled" options become moot if you want to sync back to google.
If you already had events scheduled in iCal; you can right click on them, select "Calendar" and then choose your google calendar. When you refresh your google calendar that event should show up.
You simply need to be sure what Calendar you're entering into. Also if you wait a few SECONDS the calendars DO sync without any need to manually synchronize them.
So basically, ensure you're entering into the Google Calendar in iCal and wait a minute.

  • How do i delete contacts in my mail address book

how do i delete contacts in my mail address book

You don't, if you're referring to addresses that appear when you click the "Address" button.. Mail is just reading from the Address Book application's data. Open the standalone Address Book and you can edit and remove contacts there.
If you want to clear the list of addresses that pop up as suggestions but that are not in your address book, go to the Window menu and select "Previous Recipients". You can edit or clear that list from there.
    Regards.

How can i edit my contacts?and i dont really used my phone and its automatically add a contacts and email adds.. I dont know why that happen..i just turn my phone off and this is happen..

Contacts are synced with a compatible programme in the computer; in the iCloud or with Yahoo and Google Mail. You can directly "edit" a contact on the phone and/or within the programme that you are syncing your contacts with.
Have you configured/setup mails on your iPhone? If yes, check the contents of the mail account(s) individually. (including iCloud)  from SETTINGS - MAILS, CONTACTS, CALENDARS
"Contacts" if chosen from the mail account (s) would add email addresses to your contacts.

  • Have iCloud account, have changed e-mail address, can't edit iCloud account, how is this done?

How do I edit my iCloud account?

OK, After an hour or so, I found a resolution to this if anyone runs into the problem as described above.
I had to go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar
Select my iCloud account and turn off all the components
    Mail > Off
    Contacts > Off
    Calendars > Off
    Reminders > Off
    Safari > Off
    Notes > Off
    Passbook > Off
    Photo Stream > Off
    Documents and Data > Off
    Find My iPhone > Off
The only component that stalled for awhile was Calendars. I am not sure why as I dont have any data there. Once everything was turned off, I was able to Delete the iCloud account. I cannot explain this behaviour, but it worked.

  • How do I edit the email address that's set-up in my iPad Mail client?  It's at iOS7

How do I edit the email address that's set-up in my iPad Mail Client Account?  It's at iOS7 and the email address was entered incorrectly; this means the email doesn't work.  There's an Edit button, which causes 3 horizontal lines to apperar at the end of the field, but does not seem to allow me to place the cursor in the field and correct the error.  Unless I can correct this I'll have delete the account and start again so if anyone's able to tell me how to edit that address that would be briliant?  Here's hoping................

Thanks mabaeyens; it IS the address entered in the email account, on the iPad, but sadly, as explained above, once you get to the Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Account > tap in the wrong account > Email and then hit edit, the 3 horizontal lines appear at the end of the field but touching the screen within the text of the incorrect address doesn't make the cursor appear, so I can't edit!  Very frustrating obviously.  In the edit mode you can drag the field up and down the page but that's all............

  • How can I see, use and edit contacts on PC without...

Now I finally worked out how to sync my contacts to my N95 8G (see earlier posts), I would like to use this data, plus the calendar data on a daily basis on my PC and update it where necessary, before finally synching back to the N95 at the end of the day.
Has anybody any ideas how this can be done ?
With my old Palm-based system I would use the Palm desktop but the PCSuite (v. 7.0) doesn't seem to offer this functionality.
Now the contct and calendar data must be copied there on the PC as I've performed a back-up via the Suite, but how do I get to see and edit this data (or a copy thereof) on the PC ?
If Nokia can't be bothered to work out how to do this, has anybody come across any third party vendors who have ?

Hi - sorry for the tardy response.
When I saw that my Palm device was fading rapidly and that it was no longer supported by upgrades to new versions of Windows (a Sony Clie of 2002 vintage that I used for everything bar phone calls), I backed up my palm desktop contacts, calendar etc. to my Yahoo account with no problems.
My other posts on this forum described my frustration at not being able to simply export a file back out of Yahoo that the N95 would understand, without losing bits of the contacts (e.g. all the telephone numbers). In the end I had to go via Outlook - my other post (copied below) describes how I did it.
The approach is not perfect and I intend it to be a once only thing. I will still suffer the hassle of entering new contacts into both my N95 and my online address book as the Nokia PC Suite does not appear to accurately read csv files created by Yahoo.
My poor user experience with N95 will make me think seriously about going back to a Palm-based / Blackberry device when upgrade time comes around again.
1: Open Outlook and back up the existing contacts (that you wish to keep separate from your N95 contacts) by exporting them to the desktop in a .pst - "outlook.pst"
2: Once they are backed up to Outlook.pst, select all these contacts in Outlook and delete
3: In Yahoo, export all contacts to an Outlook format .csv file (note, Yahoo offers different .csv formats) - "Personal.csv"
4: In Outlook, import the new Personal.csv file you have created. Check contacts. Delete duplicates, and check/update errors (i.e. use Outlook like the PIM that PC Suite ought to be and isn't !).
5: In Nokia PC Suite, use the Synchronise function to synchronise the N95 with Outlook
6: Select all personal contacts in Outlook that you just imported via persoanl.csv, delete them to clean out Outlook.
7: Re-import the Outlook.pst file you originally created above to restore your original (work?) outlook contacts.
Thanks for taking the time to share "our" frustrations. As you've indicated, after enjoying the ease of managing Palm data both on the device and on the desktop, the Nokia N95 simply falls flat on its face (despite the shopkeeper's assurance it was far and above better). I have found that at least the generic PC Suite has a means to view the calendar and contacts on the desktop provided the phone is hooked up by USB. I still had to manually enter everything onto the phone to get it all as I want it, and have decided to only put the stuff I truly need to have with me at all times. I also tried to download an MP3 program but it won't accept the format (and I thought Sony had the wrap on exclusivity!?). When Nokia or another company comes up with a truly do-it-all-right format, I'll be first in line. Meantime, I will take my Palm on trips, and will tuck the MP3 player in a side pocket. This was an expensive mistake that I won't make again.
