Mail -- How to show a Junk mailbox in a POP account

How to show a Junk mailbox in a POP account
I have two POP accounts on my iPhone 5s with iOS 8.1. The two accounts are identical except for the user name and of course the email address. In one account I have a Junk folder to which incoming messages can be moved. In the other account I have no such mailbox and can't for the life of me figure out how to show one.
The steps to show one should (I think) be as follows, which works in the 'cooperative' account, and also on a second iPhone 5s:
1) Open Mail.app.
2) Heading: Mailboxes. Tap 'Edit'.
3) Scroll down and tap 'Add Mailbox..'
4) Tap account name.
5) Tap 'Junk' (checks item).
6) Tap Done, Done, Done (Junk mailbox appears in Mailbox list, and incoming messages can be moved there.)
The problem in the uncooperative account is that at Step 5, there is no Junk item to check. There are only Sent and Trash. (In the other account there are Drafts, Sent, Junk, Trash).
Solutions or suggestions welcome.

Hopefully the screenshot will show.

    Just noticed that when I close my mail app by double clicking the home button and swiping up it dies something weird. After doing this when I open my mail, instead of showing all my mailboxes it automatically opens one of them instead. Anyone know why?

    Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app.  I am certain other applications also need this information.  Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Thank you!

  • In Mail how do I link a mailbox to an account?

    This is pretty elementary but I've never used mailboxes other than the main inboxes of my two accounts. How do I create a mailbox (not to be confused with the Inbox) for a specific account?
    I ask because I'm trying an Applescript that involves moving mail to a destination mailbox "of account 'X' " (or 'Gmail' in my case) from the Inbox. Mail Help sets out how to create a mailbox but not how to associate it with a particular account, unless I'm missing something. Mail offers me the location "On My Mac" but that's about it.

    First create a mailbox to hold your messages.
    Next go to Mail > Preferences > Rules and add a new rule.  Give it a name then select "if ANY of the following are met:"  Select "Account" and the name of the Account.  For the action select "Move Message" to mailbox "Your mailbox's name."

  • Two alias in Mail: how to show different "from" names?

    I've been reading various threads about aliases in mail, but none have exactly described my situation. What I want to be able to do is set up aliases in my one account and have the mail shown as "from" a different name depending on which alias I've used.
    Here's my current set-up:
    Account Type: POP
    Description: POP account
    Email address: [email protected], [email protected]
    Full Name: myname & mywifesname
    Incoming mail server: pop.domain.com
    username: xxxxx
    password: xxxxx
    outgoing mail server: smtp.domain.com
    So, we can each send email "from" our own email address, but they're all marked as from "myname & mywifes name". How do I change it so if I select "[email protected]" the mail is shown as simply from "myname" and vice versa.
    I understand from reading other threads that the one thing I can't do is set up a separate account for each, as they will both have the same incoming server and username. (Which was exactly what I could do back in the dark ages of Outlook Express.)

    Unless you really just absolutely want to have your sent emails say they're from "Trevor C" or from "Trevor C's Spouse", you could just delete the full name entry from that account in Mail's Preferences (i.e., set full name field to null), and then any sent messages' "from" address will simply appear as being from [email protected] or from [email protected], depending on which "account" (alias) you selected in the "Account" pull-down menu. This would be, I think, the easiest patch for you to implement.
    People who get email from me get mail from "[email protected]" and not from "J.V." Personally, I hate the full name crap and wish there were a way to display the "from" field in my inbound message viewer pane in email address format, rather than full name format. But that's just me.
    (if you find that this solves your problem, or is actually helpful towards arriving at a solution to your problem, please consider clicking on either the "helpful" or "solved" buttons in the header of my post)

  • How do I create another mailbox in my email account?

    How do I create another mailbox (not account) in my existing mail account?  I have Inbox,sent and trash.  Would like to create 3or4 other ones to sort my mail.

    Open the mail app, then under "account" tap on the email account you would like to create the new mailbox in.
    Once in that particular account tap on "edit".
    At the bottom you'll see new mailbox.
    Tap on new mailbox and you'll be able to create a new mailbox for that particular email account.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to show details from web part as pop up window

    Hello
    I designed few web pages in SharePoint Designer 2010 and trying to customize it. I have a XSLTListView web part that is displaying filtered data from the external SQL database. When user choses the item from this list, I need it to show in the new pop
    up window. I can't seem to find the way to do it. Saw multiple references to use SP.UI.ModalDialog.ShowPopupDialog(url), but I don't know how and where to incorporate it, since there is no place in the page where it actually specifies that url
    of the page that I need to show as pop up.
    Below there is a code for the XsltListWebPart, where I'm hoping I could make changes to make it pop up (it seems that this is the part that is calling the display details form). The form that I'd like to pop up is DispForm.aspx

    Hi Alla,
    You can show details from web part as pop up window using JavaScript with SP.UI.ModalDialog.ShowPopupDialog(url). Here is a demo you can refer to:
    <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $(function(){
    var obj1=$("a[id='forum0-NewPostLink']");
    url="http://sp13"+obj1.attr("href");
    //alert(url);
    obj1.removeAttr("href");
    obj1.click(function(){
    openDialogBox(url);
    function openDialogBox(url) {
    var pageUrl=url;
    var title="New Discussion";
    SP.UI.ModalDialog.showModalDialog(
    url: pageUrl,
    autoSize: true,
    title: title,
    dialogReturnValueCallback: function (result){
    if(result== SP.UI.DialogResult.OK){
    //refresh parent window
    window.location.href=window.location.href;
    </script>

  • Mail: How to see a new Mailbox in Preferences?

  • In Mail, how to show misspellings without automatically correcting them?

    When writing a new e-mail in Mail, one can set spell-checking either to ask about corrections after one has finished the message and clicks 'Send', or to show each misspelt word and offer a correction as one types. The latter saves a great deal of time, but it has a major disadvantage: if one wants a particular unorthodox spelling but misses that a suggestion has appeared and continues to type, the correction goes in without one's noticing it. In many applications (e.g. Pages, Word, etc.) a misspelling is flagged up by a red underscore, but if one continues typing it is one's own idiosyncratic spelling that goes in. Is there any way of achieving this in Mail?

    Thanks, dianeoforegon — of Portland, I seem to remember from a previous discussion. But you may have missed the following from my post: '…one can set spell-checking either to ask about corrections after one has finished the message and clicks 'Send', or to show each misspelt word and offer a correction as one types. The latter saves a great deal of time…' (emphases added). I knew that one could set spell-checking to occur when one had completed one's message and clicked 'Send', but my point was that that wastes a lot of time, especially if one has used foreign words or unconventional spellings (I like to use 'z' instead of 's' in words with Greek rather than Latin roots, for instance, such as 'energize') which one wants to accept. This method even invariably throws up the addressee's e-mail address as a misspelt word because of the '@' as well as because names are not usually dictionary words.
    What one really wants, in my opinion, is a setting whereby each unusual word or spelling is flagged up as one types it, but the version one has typed is the one that is retained by default. That is what happens with the red underscores in Pages, etc. But I realise (realize? no; from Latin 're', not from Greek) that Apple have gone for everyday speed of typing with conventional spelling, not for idiosyncratic writers.

  • Apple's Mail program can't handle junk mail

    I've had this machine for almost two months now and I'm STILL having problems with Apple's mail program:
    1. It doesn't recognize junk mail. Although I've been in "train" mode for almost two months, it STILL doesn't recognize ANYTHING as junk mail, even things that are obviously junk, and even duplicates of messages already marked as junk.
    2. Although I've set my preferences to delete junk mail on exit, the program doesn't delete junk mail. It doesn't matter whether I mark the messages manually as junk and leave them in my inbox, or if I mark the messages as junk and move them to my junk mailbox, or if I just move the messages to the junk mailbox without marking them as junk. The messages sit in the junk mailbox until I delete them manually.
    I'm EXTREMELY disappointed with Apple and Apple software and the fact that almost NOTHING works as expected or advertised. I have problems with Mail, Safari and iCal to name just a few...

    I am not understanding any of these problems, as Mail marks Junk quite reliably for me (and I think many others). Also, no problems with Safari nor iCal here.
    If you have Junk in Training, as you report, then this would explain some of the behavior. While in Training vs Automatic Mail does not create a Junk mailbox in the the account folder, and thus the setting to delete messages from the Junk mailbox would not do anything. If you have yourself created a mailbox named Junk, Mail would not use it for its own purposes.
    I think there are a number of misunderstandings on your part (Junk filtering with Mail's own procedure vs manually created Rules for one), and thus I cannot easily tell what may do the most good to correct things.
    More info, please.

  • How do I put junk e-mail in the junk mail box on my iPad automatically like it does on iMac?

    Does anyone know how to get junk mail to go into the junk mailbox on an iPad like it does on the iMac?

    That is a function of your email providers server when it comes to iOS. The mail client does not have any way to create and run rules.

  • Why when I send mail from Mac to PC. it's always run to junk mailbox

    Hi all Mac gurus,
    I'm facing problem with sending mail from my mac to my colleagues who's using outlook in PC. I don't why my e-mail just go to their junk mailbox.
    Is there any way to avoid this problem?
    Many thanks for all answers.

    The determination of whether a message is junk or not is a function of the receiving email program or their ISP. There's little you can do. The recipients will need to configure their junk mail detection to allow your email and not classify it as junk.

  • Mail won't automatically erase Junk mail

    I have an annoying problem with Mail but haven't been able to find advice here on the specific nature of this issue...I can't get Mail to automatically delete the messages in my Junk mailbox.
    Under Preferences/Accounts/Special Mailboxes, I have selected that Mail "erase messages in the Junk Mailbox when" they are a day old. But they are never erased. I always have to manually do it under the Mailbox tab in the mail window of the application.
    Any ideas??
    Thank you!

    I also am having this issue. I RESET the junk mail filter (which didn't do anything), move it back to the proper mailbox each time AND have added it to my contacts (as well as have the contacts being checked as exempt from junk mail filtering) and every day it's in the junk mail folder even though it's NOT marked as junk. I have no rules that would move it to any folder. I have a rule that should change the color of the text to blue, but nothing else. The junk mail is supposed to be filtered AFTER my rules, but it happens before and the email I need never has its rules applied until AFTER i move it back to the proper mailbox.

  • Why doesn't Mail for IOS show sent items?

    Why doesn't Mail for IOS show sent items with an IMAP server account. Everything else works okay but there is two sent directories and no contant in any of them ...
    Trouble is the same in both iPhone4 and iPad.
    Exactly the same account shows everything on my Macintosh. Including Sent items.

    Using the method described above I see outgoing messages that were sent from Mail on my iMac in the correct mailboxes for 2 different MobileMe accounts.
    You seem to be having and issue where your database/setting are corrupted if your messages are in the wrong outbox. I would suggest deleting the accounts from your iPad and the reconfiguring them.
    While viewing an email at the top of the screen, left of the trash icon, you should se a Folder icon. Click on that to send the message to another folder. Page 59 of the manual http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/ipad_2_user_guide.pdf

  • Junk Mailbox is gone!

    My junk mailbox disappeared today! I had expanded it (clicked the triangle) to view junk separately in my three email accts. When I tried to collapse it back (clicked the triangle again) it wouldn't collapse! Quit & restarted Mail & then there was no junk mailbox at all!
    Any ideas?

    David,
    Enable junk mail filtering is checked
    perform custom actions is checked
    trust junk mail headers set by provider is checked
    ALL the rest of the choices are unchecked
    In advanced window:
    "description" I use is "junk"
    If "any" of the following conditions are met:
    "To" "contains" (an email address I don't want to receive anything from)
    Perform the following actions:
    "move message to mailbox "Trash"
    I did have some messages stored tin junk but I had deleted them before I restarted the mail program per my first inquiry.
    Thanks,
