Mail httpmail Hotmail PowerBook Tiger 10.4.5 Worked But Not Working Now

Several people have posted about Intel MacBooks having a problem running this plugin that worked great to download hotmail emails into Mail.
I had it working fine on my PowerBook G4 under Tiger and 10.4.5 but it has stopped working recently. I tried reinstalled the plug in and also deleting the account and recreating it but no luck.
I checked if Microsoft made some change to prevent POP access to free hotmail accounts. (NEW users do NOT get pop access, but older accounts as I have are given access as far as I can tell). I CAN access by POP the hotmail accounts on my Windows XP Outlook program. So, either httpmail is working in some way that MS is preventing from accessing hotmail or something else is going on, because it DID work fine in Tiger and 10.4.5 as far as I can tell.
Anyone else with this situation? Solutions? Thanks.

well.. well.. !! the fix has arrived.. for all Macbook pro owners and everyone else that has intel macs!! All we have to do after installing the httpmail pluggin is go into the "get info" window for mail.. then select "allow Rossetta to open" option.. the httpmail option will then appear in the mail apllication as one of the choices when adding a new account. U must have a Hotmail Plus account or one of the older hotmail accounts to gain access to hotmail thru Mail however .. if u do.. then u str8!! ... another thing!... i used... http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail.asp... as the incoming server and it wored like a charm...

I Have this problem from time to time but every upgrade is ridiculous. I have to reset it all to get my mail, my contacts back..... But with mail, I have to delete the account and re-do the whole thing. I shouldn't have to do this. It makes no sense when I don't have to on my iPad. Any ideas?

Hello out there, I am looking for help.
Very frustrated with hotmail account on imac. Since December 2013 I have been unable to send emails from my imac on my hotmail account. I receive them but cannot reply. If I sign into hotmail via safari I can send but there is no record of all my old emails. Totally helpless with computers and feel I must have done something wrong but cannot find how to put it right. Is it something to do withhotmail - outlook and my bt home hub router. Any suggestions welcome.

See the Troubleshooting sending and receiving OS X mail support document. Based on your description, your SMTP sending path is likely misconfigured. Either the user or password or SSL or not (SSL almost always on), or the server specification is incorrect. The SMTP sending path is not the settings that you'll first see in Mail.app preferences for the account and what you've probably reset dozens of times, that's the POP or IMAP receive path that you can see. The SMTP send path is buried beneath the Outgoing SMTP Server "edit SMTP server" setting within the Mail > Preferences > Accounts preferences settings. Anyway, follow the troubleshooting document, and confirm that your settings match those from your mail ISP.

Can't get iCloud mail on my MacBook Pro. I used to, but not now.

I have been traveling, and using all sorts of servers to get my mail through the mail program on my MacBook Pro (Blue stamp icon). But now I am home, and the problem that started while over the road is continuing.
Under iCloud, the mail icon is checked. Under accounts, the only place blank is the IMAP Path Prefix. Port is 143, and SSL is checked. Authentication is Apple Token. Checked are also "include when automatically checking for new messages" and "compact mailboxes automatically"
Any help to get my mail up and running again?

You're going to have to give us more info than "I can't get net flix to work."
What have you done to try to get it to work?
Have you installed Silverlight?
Have you activated you Mac with NetFlix?
How are you accessing NetFlix? (Browser, Boxee....)

Mail Encrypted by openssl can be read on outlook but not on BB

While mail encryption and decryption generally works with my certificates, i get some Mail that is encrypted on a unixmachine using openssl and displays in oulook as ordinary mailbody. On a Blackberry however the mailbody displays as attachment with name "unknown" no extension.

Mail.app 10.6.4 constantly polling Gmail (IMAP) but not fetching new mail

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6.4, Mail.app has been having a problem with Gmail (IMAP).
When I launch Mail.app it connects to Gmail without any problem and fetches any new mail. The next time it checks for mail on Gmail, the animated activity symbol appears next to my Gmail inbox and then stays there spinning constantly. Any new mail is not retrieved, and it will continue like this until I quit and restart Mail.app, in which case the cycle repeats - first fetch is ok, subsequently can't fetch mail.
Have experienced this on both my Macs. Have tried disabling/re-enabling accounts, deleting & recreating, resetting passwords, but all to no avail. One glimmer of hope is that Gmail (IMAP) seems to work fine on my iPhone and iPad, so the problem seems to be in the version of Mail.app in Snow Leopard 10.6.4?

I suspect that is because Yahoo wants a newer browser thatn can run on the average Powerbook. There were a number of reports a few month back of people locked out of Yahoo because Yahoo declared their browsers were too old.
Your best option is to get the TenFourFox browser. I use it exclusively on our surviving G4 Macs. Web sites recognize it as a supported version of FireFox. Downside: the last version of TenFourFox that supported plug-ins was v17 and they are well beyond that, so that means no Flash videos.

Yahoo mail freezes after a few commands on 28.0 but not on 27.0.1

I am using the newer one at the office but apparently haven't updated at home. Both are running the latest release of Win7 (64 bit).
The mail software really does stop responding after 4-6 commands, just about any commands. Buttons stop working, etc. If I reload with the recycle command, it goes back to the inbox list and will again work for a few commands before freezing again.
I haven't tried it with removing plugs and addons yet.
Am I the only one having this problem?

If the issue is caused by an add-on, AdBlockPlus seems to be the only add-on that both you and the other user with this issue have in common.
You do not need to disable this add-on. This add-on has an option to be disabled on a specific website. This can be done to keep the add-on active on other websites.

i am running mavericks with the latest update. yesterday my mail stopped working for icloud but still works with all my other mail accounts. i can log into icloud just fine online but when i try to add it back to my mail i get "This is a valid Apple ID but not an iCloud account". why is this. i use the right info i have always used and can use it to log into icloud online. why is apple tourchering me so, what have they changed in there ever changing id intanglement that has lead to this.
help anyone.

I have only had this problem for the last few days for no apparent reason. I receive mail from me MobileMe account instantly on my iphone but not on my mail program on my iMac.

his can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup

Mail - Dreamweaver - Hotmail Problem

Hi,
I downloaded the trail version of Adobe Dreamweaver and it sort of works.
I can create a html newsletter and sent it using Mail.app... HOWEVER... The images appear in Mail and Outlook Express but they do not appear when you look at the e-mail through Hotmail online?
Most if not all of my friends use hotmail e-mails, and not a desktop application like Mail. All images just vanish! There is no sign of them being in the actual e-mail on hotmail, but they are as I've tested it by sending it to my Home and my Hotmail?
Any idea what's causing this problem? Is it Apple Mail causing problems when sending to Hotmail?
Also... Anyone know where I could get this product cheap? I'm a student and can't afford the price tag for what Adobe wants for it. Its also an expensive program for me to send newsletters to friends and family.

The same thing happened to me and probably to all other users of the httpmail plugin. I looked up on the Automagic Software website (creator of httpmail) and they mentioned that as of September 1st 2009, Microsoft has withdrawn support for HTTPmail protocol.

Moving Mail from Leopard to Tiger

I am another of those who travels with an older powerbook G4 running OS X.4.11. My desktop machine is an iMac Intel running OS X.5.
When I move my email over, I copy the entire Mail folder from the Library as well as the two preference files in the preference folder (mail.plist and mail.searchhistory.plist). However, the first time I go to get my mail on the powerbook, I always get all the messages since I last used the powerbook. I know that this has not always been the case, but I can't remember what else I did to bring mail into the present moment. I know I could delete all messages from my provider's server, and I've done that, but it seems like there should be another way, since I like to keep the messages up there in case I mess up.

This cannot be avoided with your POP accounts, because Tiger's Mail uses a separate MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded2 file for each POP account folder, but Leopard's Mail uses a single, universal, MessageUidsAlreadyDownload3 file for all accounts. The info in the newer form does not backwardly transfer so as to prevent duplicate downloading of the POP messages.

Mac Mail and Hotmail problem

Sorry if this has been asked before but I have searched with no luck yet.
I recently set up Mail to retrieve mail from my hotmail accounts.
It worked fine for about 4 days then just stopped working. It will not connect to the hotmail server.
I have tried all the suggestions I have seen during my search but nothing works.
I deleted my accounts on Mac Mail and started again but now get the message that the server "pop3.live.com" is not responding during the setup.
Why would this work for a few days then without any changes from me just stop working? Why does the server not respond now but did four days ago when I initially set it up without any problems.
Any suggestions would be appreciated
