Mail icon in dock doesn't always show that a new mail has arrived
Hi,
I have a Tiger installation at work that doesn't always show when a new mail has arrived and I can't figure out why. The Mail icon in the dock doesn't change before you maximize the Mail app.
Does anyone in here know how to fix it, or is it a known bug in Tiger (10.4.3) ?

First of all, Mail must be opened to see the number of new messages in the Mail icon. Have you checked if it's opened?
If it's opened, open Mail app, go to Mail menu > Preferences > General, and check that, in "Dock unread count", it's selected the option you need

We are trying to play playlists and a slideshow from an Apple Macbook wirelessly to the Apple TV. The small, upward arrow icon that appears on the bottom right of the screen (which allows you to pick Computer or Apple TV) doesn't always show up, and therefore, we can't get it to work. Any thoughts?

Mail icon on Dock: reference to unread emails persist
Despite _no unread emails_, the *Mail icon on Dock keeps showing 2 unread messages*.
Can you help me with this, please? It's deceiver and annoying...

iPad- on all Yahoo pages the mail icon with the red number indication shows email. When I tap, it asks me to sign in again. I do. It takes me to yahoo mail but there is nothing. All the folders are emptied. All my mail is either read, trash, or deleted. Also, when I tap on the mail app on iPad home page, gmail is no problem but for yahoo I get error: no password for yahoo. Go to Mail Account Settings and enter password. I'm stuck. Suggestions? Thank you.

Go to your Gmail account in the browser.
Hit the folder icon that brings up the folder selection.
Scroll down to the bottom and select desktop version.
The broswer will refresh and bring up your gmail account as though you were looking on it on the computer.
The go to the upper right corner and select settings.
Then go to forwarding and pop/imap
Go look at pop download
There you'll find 3 numbered lines
Go to 1. Status
And select enable pop for all mail
Then save the settings
Once you have done that you can go back to BlackBerry device settings and sync your mail or wait for it to sync it's self.
Let me know how it works out.

Can not receive my e-mail from inbox...Click Apple e-mail icon on dock...Window opens up blank in the e-mails received area...Message @ top of window reads...No Mailbox Selected...

IPhone always shows I have new e-mail
The iPhone home screen always shows that I have a new e-mail using my Gmail account. I have even tried deleting all the e-mail in my gmail account (it's a new one I made for iPhone use) and then sending a test mail. I'll read the test mail on the iPhone and it will still show that I have 1 new e-mail.
Anything that I'm overlooking?You may have two e-mail accounts. For instance did you recently sign up for a .Mac trial with e-mail?. Try this look at the left hand corner see if it says accounts with a back arrow hit that. If it's showing two accounts go to the non-g-mail account and delete the new message. That should do it!

How do I just get the Inbox messages to show in the new mail notification?
I've setup Thunderbird with Gmail and it works like a charm. The only gripe I have is that the new mail notification seems to grab a selection of unread emails from different folders and often it's not showing the relevant new emails in my inbox. Esp. the All Mail folder seems to cause doubling of message notifications but it's not the only one .
All I'm interested in is my inbox for new mail notifications. Is there anyway to modify the current behaviour?That's not true. If you archive an email from your inbox without labelling it it will simply remove the inbox label and then the only way to get to it is through All Mail.
Note that All Mail is not only folder that has this issue. If you auto-label a message with 2 or more labels the exact same problem occurs. -
Why won't my ipod touch sync? It is all up to date and everything, and i know it is connected because when i plug it into my computer it charges, but it doesn't even show that it is connected so i can't sync all my new songs:(

Apple TV after IO6 upgrade always shows What's new screen
After upgrade my apple tv Generation always show what's new secreen and cannot bypassing.
It happend to me also. The solution is just let it stay there for 10 to 15 minutes (do not unplug otherwise it will start all over again), the "What's New" screen will go away by itself and you are back to Apple TV's normal home screen again. This scenario happens usually when you hadn't plugged AppleTV to electrical outlet for a long while.
This is obviously a bug because it seems "Continue" button is not responding. But actually it did respond but the screen freezes at "What's New". After 10 to 15 minutes the video card finally catches up to your last action. -
Tried to open a file I created in Numbers a while ago, which I modified on 11/4/13, and got a message that I needed a newer version of Numbers. When I went to the Mac App Store it shows that the new version is already installed and there doesn't seem to be a way to reinstall it. When I checked "About Numbers" on my MacBook it shows "Numbers '09 version 2.3". Any suggestions as to how I can get the new version installed?
Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there.

If your account is disabled then you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
You might then need to log out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it
If that doesn't fix it then you might need to contact iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page -
I have just purchased a new windows pc running windows 8 and am unable to install itunes 11 on my machine, when i tick download now it takes me to a screen that wants to show me whats new but has no tab to run installation or continue past whats new
Use a different browser.
iTunes can only be installed and run in desktop mode. -
I am unable to register my debit card after creating my apple ID. Whenever i click "continue" after filling all the debit card details, it shows that, "Your payement method has been declined". Please help me people, why is it so.? Also, i would ike to tell that my bank is, Union Bank Of India and it facilitates the auto conversion, rupee to dollar.. I think there is a different problem. The card must be issued in the same country as the store you are trying to use. If you're trying to sign up for the US Apple Store, it must be a US card with a US billing address. If you're trying to sign up in India, it must be an Indian card with an Indian billing address.
Apple will run a small charge, which will be credited back, to make sure the card is valid. If it is a debit card and you do not have enough in the account to cover the authorization, it will be declined.
It is possible the currency conversion you mentioned may be causing a problem. Contact the issuing bank if you are sure you have enough in the account and you are signing up for the correct store. -
Mail icon Bounces but doesn't open
when I try to open my mail the mail icon bounces once in the dock and then nothing happens. I have auto update so i'm running the latest software. I can retrieve my mail from a website but I can't see my contacts or anything. No other application seems to be affected.

Have you tried repairing permissions?
That is always the first thing I do when something doesn't behave as expected.
Choose HD> applications>Utilities>disk utility. Open it and click on your hard drive icon, then choose repair permissions from the bottom of the panel. I don't usually bother to verify first but someone might disagree with me
Let it run.
I usually go off and have a coffee break or something.
I also take a shot of the finished permissions so that if I have to give anyone information for troubleshooting I have a report of it.
a selective screen shot can be taken by using shift+command[apple key}+4 [all at the same time]
this puts a "pneg picture" on your desktop. I change the name to todays date, keep the pneg extension and file them in a suitably named folder for a month, just to be sure.
Sorry if you knew how to do it. but someone who doesn't might read the post and find it useful.
