Mail icon wont open after ios update on iphone 5

After the IOS update today, my mail icon will not open and the screen seems to have lost sensitivity. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Reset the phone (no data loss): press both the home and power buttons for at least 10 seconds, releasing when the Apple logo appears.

  • Itunes wont open after i updated my iphone 4s to ios 6, can anyone help?

Recently i updated my iphone 4s to the ios6 system. i purchased more music and went about normal operations on my phone. when i connected my phone to my computer to update my purchased music and photos, itunes will not load. i have searched through the online community here and cannot find a relative answer (not from lack of trying - none of the similar answers work either). please someone help!!

Yes, i'v already signed in apple & the iCloud is on as usual, but it is still not working.
I have no problem to download the new app or redownload the apps I'v purchased before at 'search tab', but I can't get a list of my previous purchased but not installed on my iPhone Apps at the 'Updates/Purchases tab' in App Store.   I never had this problem until I updated my iPhone 4S software from iOS 5 to iOS 6.

  • Imovie wont open after mavricks update

I movie wont open after updating to mavricks. help?

Many people have been having the same problems this week because of he update. Someone on the forum mentioned uninstalling "Bonjour". +Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network - Wikipedia.+ If you have never needed it uninstall it. You could also try typing "MSCONFIG" in the Run selection under the accessories folder and un-checking it under the "Services" tab.
I personally have had the same problems. What i did was i un-checked it on the MSCONFIG menu first and then uninstalled Bonjour.
    Hope all this helps

  • HT1338 Mail does not open after software update?

My MacBook just updated with OSX 10.6.8 buildK549.  Now my Mail does not open. I get a message that the mail version 4.5  1084/1065 is not compatible with the OSX.  There was a new mail icon in the apps file but it did not open. Any suggestions?
    How do I reinsatll Mail?
    Thanks

It's giving you that message because the update changed Mail from version 4.5 to 4.6 and it's seeing the 4.5. The part of the update that was meant for Mail failed because it couldn't find Mail where it was looking for it.

  • My Mail icon wont open when i click it

At first it would let me recive my emails now it recives it  just wont open. Help please

That's an easy one to fix. If Mail won't let you quit, use Force Quit instead. Then, perform the sync and download the software that's needed on your device.
This is not an uncommon problem, and Force Quit is a safe option in this case.

  • Iphone 4 app wont open after ios 5.1

all me apps worked before i updated my iphone to ios 5.1 and now when i try and open a app it trys and opend it and the cloeses stright away what shell i do or do i have to restore it

When you restore, do you still have ios 5.1, or does it restore to the previous ios?
I tried the update last night and am experiencing the same problems as above and more. My audio files that I had on the iPhone have disappeared, even though they are still present in my iTunes library and when I have the iPhone connnected to my Mac, iTunes tells me that they are on the phone.
Seems only native Apple Apps are opening on the iPhone. No third party apps launch. Just a quick flash or bounce like it tries to open and nothing happens. Funny thing is I still receive notifications from these apps. iMessage, Calendar and Contacts work fine and also the phone abilities to make and receive calls.
I hope this restore thing works for me when I try tonight. Fortunately, I had "cloned" my Mac before I updated iTunes and the iPhone IOS so if need be I still have a copy of all my files I could go back to. Still, what a aggrevating experience!

  • New Iphoto wont open after yosemite update

Also posted in Iphoto for Mac Community
I'm working on a MacBook (2009) and upgraded to Yosemite, which went smoothly.  I was prompted to upgrade iphoto so I went to the App Store and it downloaded, but it wont open. The application appears in the applications folder but when I double click, nothing happens. In the application folders it says it was created modified and last opened on Nov 12, but I have yet to open or use the application.
I've tried restarting the machine, with no change.  I've restarted the App store with no change. When I check the purchases tab in the App store, or Launchpad, it says the download is "paused" for iphoto. I hit the "resume" button and nothing changes.  One time it changed from "paused" to "waiting" It was "waiting" for several hours until the computer went to sleep, it went back to paused. Any ideas on what to try next to get iphoto to work?
    thank you in advance!

    hi Dahveed
since installing yosemite my iphoto is also not working. When I want to update it it gives the following message..
"this update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
    Please advise
    thank you for your time

  • My itunes wont open after i updated to windows 8

    Hi eshylovesjiggy,
If you are having an issue with iTunes on your Windows machine, you may find the following article helpful (it is aimed at Windows 7, but the steps should be similar in Windows 8):

  • Safari and Mail will not open after software update

After doing the monthly software update yesterday, my Mail and Safari programs will not open. I click on the icon in the dock or in the Applications folder and I get nothing. The icon in the dock jumps, but nothing opens. I've read several other discussions and tried dragging several files out of the library, such as plist files and history, etc., but they still won't open. The software update only updated iTunes and iPhoto and included the most recent security update. I have not tried to reload Safari. If I do that (and it works), what do I need to do for Mail? Will I lose all my emails? Can someone tell me what I can do to get both programs back working properly? Thanks!

Another approach is to reapply the 10.3.9 combined update. "Repair permissions" via Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
As far as your e-mail's are concerned, the database files are maintained in your User account>Library>Mail folder. It's very important you backup this folder periodically to external media regardless of circumstances to preclude losing your e-mails in the event of file corruption.
Best maintenance strategy is a full backup of your HD on a bootable external (firewire) hard drive. Makes life a lot easier in the event you need to revert your HD to its state prior to an System Update gone bad.

  • Mail won't open after yosemite update

I updated my macbook pro last night to the yosemite version 10.10.3 and my mail app won't open anymore and i get the following message:
"The last time you opened Mail, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?".
I followed the advice on similar post about using disk utility, restoring using time machine, removing the mail file from the library and copying it to the desktop, but nothing works.
    Need help please

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try to launch Mail. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

  • Mail won't open after Security Update 2012-004

At some point, Apple started doing this annoying stupid thing with certain app updates (among them QuickTime Player, and iTunes, and Mail) where if those apps do not reside in /Applications they will not be updated properly. In some cases, a new copy is installed in /Applications, and you just have to manually replace your older copy. Annoying, but doesn't break anything. I installed the latest security update today, after which Mail would not launch, with the error message, "You cannon run this version of Mail on this version of MacOS X." There was a new Mail item in /Applicaitons (my unupdated copy lives in /Applications/Communication) with a generic app icon that doesn't launch at all.
I tried copying the package contents from the new version to the old, but that didn't work. (Maybe if I'd logged out or restarted it would have, but I didn't try that.) I called Apple and they had me download a combo update. That did absolutely nothing except waste my time. I called back, and a Mail Specialist said I would need to archive and install from the original disc that came with my computer.
Bad support is so much worse than no help at all. If you don't know what you're doing are not skilled and just reading from a horrible, unhelpful script, say so, and don't make bad suggestions. What a waste of time A. to call support, B. to follow their suggestions, C. it would have been to follow the last of their suggestions.
    Actual solution:
Move unupdated Mail.app (and, if you're like me, QuickTime Player, too) to /Applications
Download the security update from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1586 (one-fifth the size of the combo update)
    Run the installer
That's it. That's what support should have told me to do. Of course, shouldn't have had to do this at all; Software Update should be smart enough to update apps wherever they live.

At some point, Apple started doing this annoying stupid thing with certain app updates (among them QuickTime Player, and iTunes, and Mail) where if those apps do not reside in /Applications they will not be updated properly.
Correct. It has always been that way in OS X. Applications, particularly from Apple, belong in the Applications Folder, where update installers can find them and link to associated system files that may be updated as well without you realising it.
