MAIL IMAP FOLDERS FOR IPAD 2

i have just added two mail accounts to IPAD 2.  One is a yahoo and one a work account through IMAP and i cannot add folders on the IPAD only from my PC - how can i solve this?

Are you on iOS 5 ? If you are on an earlier iOS version then you need to upgrade to iOS 5 before you can add email folders to IMAP accounts directly on the iPad - you should then get an Edit button at the top of the list of your current folders for that account.

  • Mail - IMAP folders not showing up in folder list

I have several mac mail imap folders and a few of them are not showing all imap folder - yet I can use move to folder to move emails to that folder.  Any ideas?

Check on the IMAP settings (Gmail.com) that Pop is disabled.
It should be in the IMAP/Mail forwarding section.
When it is enabled, folders do not show up in mac mail

  • IMAP Mail - different folders for Trash and Sent

I'm getting a bit annoyed every since I movd to an IMAP mail system with my domain...
I'm checking mail from my PC (outlook) macbook (mail app) iphone and ipad (mail app)
but as i send and delete messages, they are going to different folders depending on what device i am on!
some go to "Trash" but some go to a new folder "Deleted Messages".  Same with "Sent" and "Sent Messages".
    Very annoying.  Help!

Do you have IMAP Path Prefix: INBOX set for your account in the Advanced settings?

  • Create new folders for Ipad e-mail

currently i have only drafts, sent, spam, and trash as locations to move files. how do i create additional folders so that i can move e-mails for storage without losing all the content.
there are many i don't want to through away but i also don't want them just piling up in my inbox

What mail client are you using?? MobileME, GMail, etc.
If you are using GMail log into your GMail account on your computer > create a new folder > restart the mail client on your iPad > open your mail > at the Mailboxes screen you will see "Accounts" click your email client you will see all your created folders there. There is no way to do it through the actual mail app.

  • App to sync IMAP folders on iPad?

I have Outlook 2011 on my Mac. I access my work email via IMAP (it's Exchange 2003 but setting aren't quite set right to access over Exchange). I have an iPad 2.
I have set my work email up in the Mail.app, and it works fine to access very recent mails, but I really need to have access to all my email, and offline. I have several GBs of mail over the past 3 years.
Is there any app I can use to either export all my emails from Outlook to the iPad for offline viewing and searching? Would also be willing to look at other options such as exporting mail to some other kind of archive app and then to snc to iPad. Search and being able to copy/forward messages would be important.

Game settings are part of the backup. You'll have to restore your iPad from the latest backup of the iPhone if you want the same game settings on it. But all other settings and data will be transferred as well from the phone, you can't just restore parts of the backup.

  • Emptying Mail Trash Folders on iPad

When I delete an email it goes into the Trash folder for that account, but doesn't delete when I close the app. How do I empty the Trash folder, without going through and deleting each and every (hundreds!) email?
    Thanks!

If you are talking about the iPad Mail App then go to the Trash mailbox and select Edit. There will be a "Delete All" button.

  • Mail in Folders for Lotus Notes Traveler

    Hello,
I have mail in numerous (75+) folders on my Lotus Notes.  In setting up Lotus Notes Traveler on my phone, I notice that my inbox looks fine but that none of the mail shows up in those folders.  Can someone please tell me:
    (1)  Do I need to go into each folder and refresh it?
    (2)  If so, will that mail then always appear, and then it will only need to sync the new messages when I enter that folder?
    (3)  If I turn push on for each folder (75+ folders) I am assuming I will kill my battery life.  Anyone that can validate that point?
Thanks in advance for any assistance and guidance.

I'm not a Support person, but I looked on the IBM developerWorks support forum (http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd85forum.nsf/5f27803bba85d8e285256bf10054620d/127ad a028189bf5f852578ba0046fb3f?OpenDocument&Highlight=0,traveler,ios,folders) and couldn't find an answer either. You may also want to post your question there, or contact your IT Help Desk to ensure the Traveler server is set up correctly.

  • Mail:IMAP:folders on an iPhone

How do I (or can I) view the same folders on an iPhone as I see on my desktop?

Yes, I'm usually Larry. And I had the same experience with my mother.
In Apple Mail if you look in the bar on the left you should see a heading called "Mailboxes", then under that Inbox with one inbox for each email account (if you only have one account that will be pretty simple; I have 10 different email addresses).
If you look further down you should see Flagged, Sent, Junk, Trash, maybe Archive, Smart Mailboxes and you might see an entry with the name of your email account. Below that you should see a heading On My Mac. If your folders are listed under that heading that's why they are not syncing.
To fix it right click on the Inbox and choose New Mailbox. Create one with any name; Test is good enough. This should add an entry with the name of the account, and it should have under it the Test that you just created.
You can now just click and drag the folders to the new heading that Test belongs to and they should sync.
Note that if the folders are already listed under a heading for your account then there's a different problem that we have to troubleshoot.

  • Mail server rejection  for ipad OS 5

does anyone have answers on the mail "a copy of this email has been made and was rejected by the server" situation. or do we just wait umtil apple clears up the bug?

Download the Kindle app onto your computer using iTunes. Once it's downloaded open the purchase section in the App Store on your iPad, and download it from there.

  • How can I rearrange IMAP folders with multiple accounts in Mail?

    Hi all,
I switched to the Mac in 2004, but I've never really used Mail (been using Entourage). I set up an IMAP account in Mail, and was very impressed. So I decided to set up my other IMAP account, too. Now things are a bit messed up. I have these folders
    Inbox
    Drafts
    Sent
    Junk
    Trash
    Email1
    Email2
Under Email1 and Email2 are all the IMAP folders for the respective email address, except Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Junk and Trash are separate, and each of those folders has a folder in it called Email1 and one called Email2. How can I change this so that I just ahve the Email1 and Email2 folders, and everything appears under those?
On a less important note, is there any way to make Mail ignore IMAP folders? My email server creates a folder called '.mailboxes' for each IMAP account, and just stores some of its information in there, nothing I want in Mail. So is there a way I can hide this .mailboxes folder?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi mr max pie whatever.
This is actually one of Mail’s best features and cannot be changed.
Instead of grouping mailboxes by account, Mail groups them by purpose first (and uses the account name to differentiate the individual mailboxes associated with each account), then groups by account the remaining mailboxes that don’t belong to any of the standard groups.
This has the advantage of letting you choose at any time, and independently for each mailbox type, whether you want to look at your Inbox, Sent, Trash, etc. mailboxes as if you had just one of them shared by all accounts (i.e. an aggregate), or look at each of the corresponding individual mailboxes separately.
As to the “.mailboxes” folder that you’d rather not see there, I believe Mail shouldn’t show it if the name begins with a period. Moreover, I’ve troubleshooted a few cases where the problem was the opposite, i.e. the user had renamed a mailbox with a leading period and it became inaccessible as a result. I don’t know why Mail behaves so inconsistently in this regard. If all the server-stored mailboxes were subfolders of a parent folder, you could solve the problem by typing the name of the parent folder in Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > IMAP Path Prefix...

  • Can you mail groups from the iPad mail program?

OK I am going out of my mind trying to send an email using one of my contact groups. I have a group with about 100 emails in it that I send email to once or twice a week and I can't seem to find a way to select the group and send the email. I know it is probley me, I must be trying to hard or over thinking it. Cause this is a basic feature of any email program since 1990. So I am sure I am just missing it.

There is an app called Mail2Group. This works fine if you compose your email however you can't use it to forward an email that you want to resend. They say that it should work both ways once Apple makes some kind of fix. I'm not sure it's Apple responsibility.
Group mailing is important for iPad's further success. It will allow people who aren't computer literate to send group emails, such as the elderly who never had or wanted a computer but want to communicate their groups of common interest e.g. tennis or stitching etc.

  • IPad mail folders for smtp

I use yahoo smtp. Broadband email service here in Canada by the cable provider monopoly....... Oh I digress
Anyway, is there a way to create folders In iPad mail for smtp mail type providers?
It doesn't appear that yahoo mail or Rogers webmail allow for "top"level folder creation with inbox, sent, deleted. Only sub level folders that of course don't appear to move over to my iPad.
    Is there a solution?
Is there a mobile me solution where all my email account can push to me through and allow me to create folders?

Yup, you have the cable provider monopolies in the True North, but at least you are provided. If you go south to the States, small communities have very little if any choice since we aren't in "profitable" markets. Oops, I'm digressing, too.
Sure hope you get an answer to this question because I have the same one.

  • Automatically checking for new mail in IMAP folders.

Here is my relatively simple issue with Mail.
I use an IMAP email provider called Fastmail and use their server-side rules to automatically direct incoming emails into separate IMAP subfolders.
My question is when Mail polls for new mail; it only seems to poll for new mail messages in the main Inbox but not in any of the sub folders. I then have to manually click on each of the other IMAP folders to see if they have received new mail messages.
I am recent convert from Windows and can confirm that I did not have this problem when using MS Outlook.
I was wondering if any one else has experienced a similar problem and more importantly come up with a solution!

Yes, this is a problem I've had with Mail.app from day one. The closest thing that I have come across as a solution is a to write an AppleScript script to convince Mail.app to check all of my folders. However, this is far from an optimal solution for many obvious reasons. I can only hope that Apple will fix this in the future, but it's been a few years with no solution in sight yet.
