Mail IMAP Receiving Problem

Hello,
I am using mail to receive my emails from a web based account. I have set up my .mac personal email. This works fab on lappy and ipod. I now have a second account with a different provider.
I have put the account onto mail and it works to send email. I just cannot retrieve email off the server into mail. I can see it there when I right click the inbox and select Get Account Info. I can sync to the folders to but they are all empty on mail.
This is extremely frustrating as I have also linked this account to my ipod touch and it works wonderfully. I have tried deleting the account off mail and adding it again using the same settings as on the ipod to no avail.
It is set up on the ipod as IMAP and my lappy as IMAP in mail.
Both are password authentication as well.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me as I have run out of things to try.
Oh I also checked the connection doctor and it is saying that all is fine for connecting to the incoming and outgoing servers!
Hope someone can help me.
Thank you in advance
Laura

Laura,
Same thing on my new iMac and older iBook. POP works fine. IMAP connects, knows the folder structure... Even knows the mail count per folder when I query "Get Info" on the IMAP account. But, no emails are showing anywhere.
I've since given up and moved everything to Thunderbird from the Mozilla site.
Regrets,
Pete

  • Mail & IMAP sync problem...

I have a MacPro and a MacBook Pro both running 10.5.6 and an iPhone. All of them connect to an IMAP email account. It's been working perfectly for a very long time.
The other day, out of the blue, my MacPro got out of sync with everything else. It doesn't show the same read/unread status, or deleted or replied status either. The laptop and the iPhone seem to be correct with the server.
BTW, I have 2 other IMAP accounts that still work perfectly between all 3 machines. It's just this one account...and on the MacPro.
I've restarted Mail and rebooted, even did a "synchronize" on the mail account, but nothing I do seems to correct the problem.
    Any solutions?
    Thanks...

I am having the same issue. We have only three machines we read email on. Two macs and my iPhone. Many times emails go missing. When I access my mail accounts through the web interface they are all there, but on the Macs it's very iffy. Synchonizing mailboxes does nothing.

  • TS3899 IPhone 4S mail send/receive problem

This has happened three times. After getting the mail up and running it will work for a time and then fail again. We have deleted the account and set it back up. we have deleted and resetup the network settings. We have downloaded and installed all available updates. Each time this has occurred we have been able to the mail back but then it fails again. The mail account is a POP account What causes this? and how can I stop it?
Below this question box asks about the OS. I know I downloaded an update to the OS but I'm not sure what the version was. I know it is in the 6 range. The phone is a customers and I don't have it with me tonight.

No, Ive had no luck finding a sloution to this problem. Very frustrating

the problem I have since I upgraded to Mavericks version 10.9.1
The problem appears only with Mail not with other programs, not even with my browser.
When I try to zoom the text of an e-mail I received or sent , I can no longer use the keys Command + to enlarge the text, although I can reduce it with Command -.
As I have a problem with my eyes, This is a serious matter for me.
When I write an e-mail, if I select text and press Command +, it just displaces the text to the right.
Now, my husband has a USB keyboard. If he connects it to my computer, his regular Command + does not work either, but  he uses the extended keyboard, then it works. Unfortunately, he needs it for a musical application which does not work with a wireless keyboard.

Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 use a process called, "plugin-container.exe" which was using up most of my CPU when I opened up multiple tabs that contained Adobe Flash files, and caused Firefox to lock up.
My solution was to use Firefox 3.5.10 which you can get from the Mozilla website at [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]
I am using Adobe Flash 10.1.53.64 without any problem in this version of Firefox. Check the release notes, I believe it contains all the latest security fixes in "Firefox 3.6.4".
Hopefully, they will fix Firefox 3.6 in the next version (e.g. Firefox 3.6.7), until then you should probably use "Firefox 3.5.10".

  • Having trouble receiving Yahoo mail on iPhone 6 sending mail is no problem?

Having trouble receiving Yahoo mail on iPhone 6 sending mail is no problem?

Any chance you use two step verification on your Yahoo account? If you've ever had to enter a code that was text messaged to you when you log into your Yahoo account on a new computer, then two step verification is probably on.
If that is the case, you'll have to generate an app specific password in the Yahoo web mail page and enter that as your password on your Apple Device instead of your standard password in Mail Settings.

  • Mail receive problem.

Last week, I opened Mail as I had done a thousand times before. Only to find I had no new incoming mail. I tested Mail by sending an email to myself and to another computer on my home network. I received no test mail but the other computer did. I accessed the iinet webmail server to find I had several new messages, then I phoned for support from iinet to ask them to test their server connection to my email address.
I can send emails but cannot receive them on the computer. I trashed my email account in mail and created fresh account to see if this would fix the issue. The result was all my mailboxes were emptied and still no new mail was received. I tested and found I could still send email.
Iinet have a phone service which requests I push a phone key 1,2,or 3 for the service I need. Whenever I pushed the phone key the recorded voice answered that no action had been registered. That has been the case for several days and remains so today. Iinet are centred in Queensland and a recorded message indicates they are effected by the floods and will be slow in answering support calls. Since I could not get through they have no support call from me.
I am assuming my problem is a server address issue. Can anyone please tell me if there is another action I can use on Leopard 10.5.8 to confirm the problem.

Yes, It makes no sense does it!
I have created a second account which has received email, but not all that is on the server. Just some emails between 18/01/2013 and 08/02/2013.
Checking the server shows emails every day up to the 13 feb!
I have read all emails on server so it is not a distinction between read and unread mail that effects receipt in Mail.
I sent myself another email to test Account 02. It arrived at the server but not at the computer in Mail.
Sent tests have been stored in the Sent mail box. Outgoing has not been a problem.
Emails are being sent and received without any problem on other iMac on network.
Now using port 110 instead of previous port 995.
This seems crazy. If Account 02 can receive 6 emails it should receive all emails.
    Can ports fail partially?

  • Problem Using Apple MAIL to receive/send gmail

I set up MAIL to receive/send gmail yesterday. It seemed to work fine. However, in trying to send e-mail this morning I keep getting an error: cannot send using pop.gmail or smpt.gmail or whatever...I have deleted POP accounts I had (carolina.rr.com) because I no longer have that service. Should I set up MAIL with a POP rather than an IMAP??? Does it make a difference which formula I use? MAIL is v.2.1.3.

Klaus1, I followed those instructions for an IMAP set up. It worked fine yesterday. However, this morning when I tried to send e-mails from MAIL it said it couldn't send them via gmail server. I went into Preferences and made sure that all POP in/out servers were deleted (carolina.rr.com via timewarner) so there could be no confusion: Just the IMAP info remains. I have two e-mails parked in the outbox because everytime I try to send them I get that same error message.

  • Mail stops receiving messages

I'm having an odd problem with Mail in Mavericks that I haven't experienced in earlier releases of OS X.
On occasion, every few days, Mail will stop polling for new messages. I'll discover new messages have arrived by glancing at my iPhone and noticing that I may have several messages from several different mail servers all waiting for me. I'll then go back to OS X Mail and click the Get New Mail Messages button and suddenly they all show up.
These messages had been queued up on the two different IMAP servers, including iCloud, hours earlier but Mail simply didn't receive them.
I have tried chaning the "Check for new messages" preferences to Every Minute, instead of Automaticatically, but that hasn't helped.
I noticed that Use IDLE is checked by default for both IMAP servers. Is that the problem?
    Thanks for any advice,
    George

Exact same problem here. I tried moving the index file to the desktop and reopening mail. It rebuilds fine but then this problem starts again. It is only with one account, a pop3 account. Gmail works fine. I've deleted all mail in that account via webmail. It still hangs even though there are 0 mails to receive. The indicator shows it is still trying - and that will go on forever. Quitting just like movie_man describes.
Disabling that account solves the problem - but reenabling it brings it back.
I have the accounts sync'd with iPod touch and another home Mac. It has worked fine for years and then this, suddenly.

  • Two Apple Mail imap accounts, but can never include 2nd account in REPLY ALL

Hi. I have two Apple Mail imap accounts. One for me and one for my boss. The problem is, if I receive an email in which my boss is cc'd and I then click on REPLY ALL, Mail never includes my boss's email address and I have to manually type it in. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thank you.

Open Mail>Preferences>Accounts, scan down to the entry 'Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)', click on the dropdown and select Edit SMTP Server List and verify that each account has the correct SMTP server set.
    Then close it
Once you have verified that the servers are set correctly check the box that says 'Use only this server' for each of the accounts.

  • Windows Mail can receive but not send until exiting application

Hi, and thanks for taking time to read this as I’m in need of your help.
I have a Toshiba P200, Vista Home Premium, Tiscali as my ISP, Norton Internet Security for AV and firewall, and am accessing my broadband via Ethernet to a Belkin ADSL router (and occasionally a Siemens router) and I’m experiencing some strange happenings with Windows Mail.
In short I can receive mail with no problems, but when I send the mail it stays in the outbox despite the Send Immediate option being checked or pressing the Send/Receive button. When I exit Windows Mail the mail is sent straight away, and is in the Sent Mail folder when I restart Windows Mail.
So why do I think there’s a problem with the laptop. Well, I’m fortunate enough to have a friend who has an non-Toshiba laptop, where all of the above can be replicated. Guess what, Windows Mail sends the mail exactly as it should (on my Tiscali account and on my network, through my router and ISP etc.), so I conclude that the only difference is that my laptop is a P200.
I have called Tiscali who confirmed that all my Mail settings were OK, POP, SMTP etc, which I’d expect (as they work on my friend’s laptop), and they advised I contact Microsoft, which I did, and since the P200 has Vista pre-installed they say I have to contact Toshiba, and here I am.
My P200 has been restored to factory settings, and I have tried to get this working without Norton IS, and no firewalls (Vista and router), but no luck.
Any ideas would be much appreciated and if I find out by other means, I’ll post back with outcome. If the answer is already out there, I apologise for being too dumb to locate it and beg your patience.
    Many thanks.

    Hi
It is typical for support people. Every of them try to send the customers away and the reason should be by them. In my opinion Microsofts reaction is strange for me. They have designed operating system and they should be responsible for the functionality.
I have Satellite A200 and Satellite P200D and I use Windows Mail on both of them successfully. My notebook is connected to WLAN router and router directly to the phone line. To be honest I have configured Windows Mail like you and all job were done in few minutes.
It is not easy to say where the problem can be but I believe there is some problem with some settings on your notebook. Some of them block it somehow. To compare your, with friends notebook is also not the best because he can have completely different OS settings (antivir application, firewall settings).
Try to disable all features who can block Windows hotmail to see if there is some difference.

  • Mail stops receiving messages and then stops responding

I have been using mail for over a year now with no major issues, until now. When I open mail it appears to open fine, and then it automatically starts taking the accounts online. The progress bar shows that there are 200+ messages to receive, and it shows the data rate at about 100ish kb/sec. Once it hits around 60 "received messages" of the 200+ the data rate consistently starts dropping until goes to 0 kb/sec and I can no longer take any accounts on line or even quit mail. The program responds reasonably well, but when I select "quit mail" the window will disappear, but the program will not quit. The only way I can stop it is to force quit. The accounts I use are pop3 and gmail accounts. I thought that maybe it was one account that was messing me up so I removed the accounts systematically and none of them are working properly. I also have been using wireless, so I connected via ethernet, but the issue persists. Any help is appreciated.

    Sorry,
Have you tried the connection doctor? In Mail menu bar under Window connection doctor, this will usually let you know where the problem might be.

  • Mail Stops receiving mail after phone in standby for a while.

We are currently running Exchange 2003 SP2. We have direct push enabled on our server.
I have setup an iphone to use one of our exchange account and mail is received straight away on the phone. However once the phone has been on standby for a while (Cant give exact time) mail stops coming through on the phone. As soon as you bring the phone out of standby and do something on the phone the missing mails come through. We know there is nothing wrong with our server as we have a WM6 device that constantly receives the same mail.
    Anyone else had same issues?
    Settings on phone are :
    iPhone 3G
    2.0 (5A347)
    Wifi is disabled
    Push is enabled
    3g is enabled

We upgraded to Exchange 2007 and upgraded phones to Latest OS and problem seems to have gone.

  • Mail will not send mail, only receive.

I have spent the majority of today re-installing OS X and all necessary updates, music, data after the death of a hard drive. Luckily everything went perfectly, except for the same problem I had with Mail even before the 1st hard drive died. Mail will not send mail, only receive.
All efforts time out and give me this message: "The connection to the server mail.earthlink.net on port 25 timed out"
Mail used to send messages, but stopped suddenly in 2004 and has yet to start again. Any idea guys?! I can't figure it out, under Account settings I have necessary fields filled in: Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) is set to "mail.earthlink.net", Server Port is set to 25, and Authentication drop menu is set to None.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    --DANIEL

This is NOT a problem with Mail or OS X. This is an incorrect settings problem - garbage in = garbage out and this information is certainly available at Earthlink's website and Earthlink also provides technical support.
Earthlink has an authenticated SMTP server they changed to long ago.
    SMTP Server: smtpauth.earthlink.net
Server Port: 587 but 25 should work if you are using Earthlink as your internet service provider for connecting to the internet.
Use SSL: Off or not selected.
    Authentication: MD5 Challenge-Response
User Name: Your ENTIRE Earthlink email address.
Password: The account's password - the same password used to check the incoming mail server for new messages.
