Mail in 10.4.6 injecting question marks in messages

I recently upgraded to 10.4.6. When I send an email,
it looks fine. If someone replies, my original
message is different. It now includes a question
mark after every period. What is going on?
It's important to know whether the recipient is seeing the question marks or not. If not, then his response to you is probably just missencoding some stuff. If so, then it is probably a Win Outlook problem that you can try to fix either by using Plain Text or using UTF-8 encoding for your messages.

Yahoo Mail On iPad - Attachments Appearing As Question Marks

A relative of mine has a Yahoo! Mail account which she uses for e-mail on her iPad.
She's had a problem recently that some of the attachments (JPGs) she's received haven't appeared in the Mail app on the iPad. Instead, they've shown up as question marks in boxes.
Anyone heard of this happening before? What's going wrong?

Your yahoo password is the same no matter what platform you access it on.
How are you trying to get at your mail? via the mail app? yahoo app? or via yahoo's mobile site and safari?
Try going into the settings, safari, passwords and autofill.
look for the site in question and tap on it. You may need to enter your passcode to access the info, but once you do you can see the password you used for that site.
On the main page that lists them all, you can see an 'edit' option. Choose that and you shoudl be able to delete the saved password for the site.

Sent Mail shows as "Delivered" but has question mark in icon

I have a user with a few sent emails to multiple parties that are listed as "Transferred" in the mail properties but have the question mark icon next to it. The definition of the question mark icon reads: "The item couldnt be delivered to the destination post office or it failed to transfer to the Internet."
Am I right to assume that these emails are successfully being sent out but are receiving the question mark icon due to an error on a recipient's end?

Mail with French / Spanish accented characters appear as Question marks

Hi
I am facing issues in mails that have French / Spanish accented characters in mail subject.Accented characters appear as Question marks (?) when received in the inbox.Mail subject is read from properties file.
Please let me know the following
- Should I have the entries in properties file in Unicode ? For example French accent character � is represented as á
- Should I replace msg.setSubject(subject); to msg.setSubject(subject,"UTF-8");

SPAU Green Question Marks How to solve it??

Hi experts,
Im upgrading my client system from 4.6C to ECC 6.0 version, and in the SPAU adjustments im facing several Note corrections with a green question mark, and 1 Function Module with the same issue.
The problem is that either i try to accept modifications or reset it to original the green marks still stay's and i have no possibillity to solve this. If i click on the mouse button in the question mark a message appears with S:000 , but with no message class associated...
Does anyone knows how to solve this issue?

A reset does not make tthe iPad "like new."
First, let's ensure that we agree on just what is a Reset...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Safari won't open. Firefox disappeared, only question mark. Mail doesn't have content. Time Machine won't turn on because sparse bundle is in use. Please help.

I had this issue about a month in a half ago and it was fixed by a local technician. I no longer have access to him and I really need some help. The issues are as follows:
Safari will not open.
Firefox disappeared. No icon, just a question mark in it's place.
When I open mail it shows I have new messages but the content is blank.
Time Machine cannot turn on because sparse bundle is in use.
New files that were made are no longer available. It's almost as if the computer jumped back in time.
The Mac Mini is running Mavericks 10.9.5

I'll assume that you have some way of connecting to this website from the affected machine. If not, ask for other instructions.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List

PDF mail attachments are shown as question mark instead of preview or icon.

When I receive a mail with PDF attachment, I can see paper clip on the header of mail. This is fine. However, Apple Mail does not show as preview or icon. I can see only a box with border and a question mark sign "?" in the middle. If I click the "?" symbol, preview opens the PDF attachment properly.
It is fine for other mail attachment such as .DOC or .JPG. Either I can see preview or as icon.
Is there anybody who knows the solution of this problem?
P.S. I use OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 but problem was existing also with Mavericks.

No, I don't think so. Same attachment is shown properly on the my colleague's Mac who is another recipient for same e-mail. There is something wrong about my Mac.

Yosemite Mail displays image attachments as question marks if attachments also contain a pdf

We have 11 macs running Yosemity in our company and I have the following problem with Mail since upgrading.
If an email is created in Mail and both images (jpg) and pdf's are attached to that mail, the recipient will see the images displayed as question marks, but the pdf show as icon as it should. This is only on mac. Other clients see the attachments properly.
This also appears to be the case when receiving email from others using outlook. When the email contains both images (even in signatures) and pdf files, the images displays as question marks and the pdf display as icon or previewed as normal.
Any suggestions?
Displaying remote images in HTML emails are ticked, but this is attached images, not remote images.

That did not happen before.
It happened only on certain pages with Safari, like the google news feed which did not display pix.
However, this new mail problem is really disturbing.
I checked Little Snitch and port 80 is open.
I checked java pref.
I am at a loss.

That indicates that your Mail preferences are setup to not display remote images in email messages. You should check Mail->Preferences->Viewing and make surre the box to 'Display remote images in HTML messages' is checked.
I checked java pref.
Java has nothing to do with Mail, or displaying images in it or any browser.

Mail sends question marks in place of spaces?

My e-mails intermittently are received on PC's with question marks in place of spaces I typed. When I send myself test e-mails everything looks fine. What gives?

Images appear as a question mark in mail and safari

I have just noticed a new problem in Mail and Safari. "Some" emails that contain pictures that are links are suddenly only showing the images as a small blue square with a question mark. If I click the "view this email in your browser" link in Mail it opens in Safari but with the same problem! Then if I paste the URL into Firefox or Chrome the email is displayed correctly. The email is also displayed correctly on my iPhone 6. I really can't figure out what has changed as it is has effected emails that are filed and that displayed correctly before. Any help appreciated. As of April 2015, Apple has made its iCloud server junk filter much more aggressive. It is putting a lot more spam messages (and also some good ones) into the Junk mailbox. It also deletes some messages so that they do not appear in any mailbox. This affects all icloud.com, mac.com, and me.com e-mail accounts.
There is no way to turn off iCloud’s junk filter and prevent it from putting messages in the Junk mailbox. However, there is no way to rescue messages that were deleted without being saved into a mailbox. If iCloud is not meeting your needs, we recommend switching to a different mail provider.

you can reinstall Mail using the leopard install DVD. insert the DVD and open it in finder. among other things you should see a folder called "optional installs". Open it and double-click on Optional Installs.mpkg. Follow the instructions. at the appropriate page you'll have to check the box for "Mail" on the list of software you want to install.
This will install Mail 3.0. To update it to the latest version of mail reinstall

Question marks instead of pictures - Mail and Safari

I have the latest Tiger software installed including Safari, but when Apple sends out e-mails they show up with blank boxes with question marks, and I get the same thing when I go to their web site.
The emails sometimes will fix themselves magically later. (I haven't a clue)
This brings up two questions:
1) What's going on with my computer.
2) How intelligent is Apple's Marketing Department, that their adds can only be read by people who already have the latest and greatest computers/software?
