Mail: In 'classic layout' view the top header in mailboxes is grey.
Hi,
I am using Mail (version 6.0) in it's classic layout form.
Since upgrading to OS X 10.8 I've noticed that the top header in my mailboxes is sometimes displayed in a grey font rather than in black, like the ones below it.
Not that much of a problem in itself, but if I click on the header to highlight it the font remains grey, instead of changing to white against the blue highlighting. Grey against blue renders it almost unreadable; there is no contrast.
If I click on another folder or mailbox in the left pane, then select a random messages in that, and then go back to where the grey header was, I sometimes find that the font has now changed to black and it behaves as it should when highlighted.
Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it just me? Has anyone any idea ho to cure it please?

Further to the above, I've also just noticed that Mail is also sometimes adding the 'replied to' symbol, (the curved arrow thing), to message headers, even though I've not actualy replied to the messages.
Again, opening another folder, randomly clicking on messages and then returning to the problem one again will often remove the erroneous symbol.
I'm sure this must be a bug, mustn't it?

i am using numbers in the new iWork. Just bought it 10 days back. I am not able to figure out how to add serial umbers from 1 to 100( for example) also i need to freeze the top header like in windows so that we can browse down without the heading going off. Can some one help?
Hi Jay,
Be aware that "Freeze Header Rows" and "Freeze Header Columns" apply only to rows and columns that are Header rows or Header columns. You can have up to five Header rows, Five Header Columns (and five Footer rows) on a Numbers Table.
"Header rows" is a special designation. Besides being able to be frozen, Header and Footer rows are not included in formulas referencing whole columns, making it possible to place formulas such as =SUM(B) at the top (or bottom) of column B without causing a self-reference error, These designated rows are also not included in sorts of the rows in a table.

What has the Apple support team done to the Top Sites screen? I just accepted an automatic update to be downloaded to my iMAC, and as a result of this "fix installation" the layout of the Top Sites screen has been terribly "destroyed"! What's the idea?

How can I move most used mail accounts to appear at the top of the list when I open my mail app?
I have updated iPhone4 to IOS7 and now my mail accounts are in new order. I have several accounts but a few that need to be the most visible. Not sure how iPhone mail app is sorting them but it sorting it but definitely not alphabetically or by most used. Anyway, I finally figured out how to reorder them to suit me and, since help wasn't found on forum, thought I'd share:
Open Mail App, then use "Edit" from top right. You'll see a 3-bar icon to the right of each mail account. Use it to slide accounts up/down to where you want them. Works also for any Gmail accounts you might have.
Sometimes it's the simple thingscor-el, thanks for the tip. While I certainly scoured Adobe's preference settings to look for something relating to that exact thing, I never went to their help site until I got your post. I found out that the floating toolbar appears because the PDF opens in'' Read Mode'', which you can turn off for all future documents by doing this:
* Quit your internet browser
* Launch Acrobat (or Reader)
* Choose Edit>Preferences
* Click on the Internet category on the left
* Deselect “Display in Read Mode by default”
* Click the OK button.
* Relaunch Acrobat
Something important to note, if you have both Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader, you need to do the above in both programs (same steps). -
Mail fonts cut off at the top.
Suddenly when I'm typing a new mail message, some of the fonts are cut off at the top. Usually capital letters, e.g. "C" you can't see the top of the curve of the letter. Also, when you hit the return, a number of faded dots are in the interval spacing, looking like a bad ribbon on an old typewriter. When I send the message, it appears okay to the receiver, and the copy in my sent folder looks normal. Any suggestions? I've tried changing fonts and sizes without much luck.

Mail - Listing new messages at the top rather than the bottom
How can I ensure that messages sent appear at the top of the dialogue box rather than the bottom as people keep complaining they have to scroll all the through all the old messages to see the new message. It's probably quite obvious but not to me or anyone else I know!!!

For example, if I write and reply to a person several times about the same matter I and the recepient have to scroll through all the earlier texts to get to the latest message. I want the latest message to appear first in the order that I write in reply or view not at the bottom - I hope that is clearer and you know a solution.

Does anyone get the same issue? Can apple fix it? Please fix it ASAP.You need to be patient. There is no need to post again within minutes of the first post. Try force closing the App Store app and then reset the iPad.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
I have headers, a sidebar, and footers.
I am floating my content area to the right of the sidebar. And it works when I preview it, but in layout view the conten comes out underneath the sidebar and above the footer. this is disorienting.Its no wonder this design is fighting you. You have a liquid design in tables, which always is quarellsome to the designer. You are mixing % widths with defined widths, you are letting DW name your styles, so you have 1 through whatever number of styles, impossible to remember, so you have a battle on your hands.
Since you seem to want to stay with a liquid design, here is a quick layout of your page, see if this helps you. I dont know if it is easier to start from stratch on the menu or if a find and replace would make it easier, but get rid of the table in the meun.
Throw this into a new page and see if it is a help to you.

Preview: In a group of PDF files in the same window, going to the next or a previous PDF file displays the bottom of PDF page by default, not the top of the PDF page. How do you change this? In Mac OS 10.9 and previous, going to the next or previous PDF file displays the top of the PDF by default. Is there a way to change this back? When I go to the next or previous PDF file, I want to first view the top of the page, not the bottom. This really doesn't make any sense. Any help? Thanks!

for example, the data showed as :

i want show these data in crosstab, and customer is the left header, city name and product name are the top header, and city value and product value are measures in the crosstab,
and i want show the data as below:

D 1 2 E R
but actually i got below result in crosstab:
London food London milk Paris food Paris milk

The steps I did to get it were:
1. Insert a crosstab. In the first column put this formula
=[customer]
2. In the blue row cell do not put the city name directly but this formula:
="*London*"
3. Add 3 columns. In each blue cell (header cells) put this formulas: ="Paris", ="food"
, ="*milk*"
4. Now, in the white cells:
In the first column put this formula:
=Max([city_value] Where ([city_name]="London"))
In the second
=Max([city_value] Where ([city_name]="Paris"))
In the third column:
=Max([product value] Where ([product_name]="food"))
In the fourth column:
=Max([product value] Where ([product_name]="milk"))
Sadly this is not dynamic as you can see, but is the only way to achieve what you want to display.
Otherwise better follow the advice by the other posters.
