Mail in my Outbox

The mail on my computer keeps staying in Outbox and will not send! What do I do to get them to send back out?

Assuming you are running Mavericks, and assuming you are using Apple's Mail app, try Window > Connection Doctor from Mail's menu to help you figure out why the mail does not get sent.

  • Sent Mail Not In Outbox

I am sending mail and I here the "swoosh" sound but I am not seeing the mail in the outbox. I am often getting warning (triangle gray) that I am over my limit and delete mail. I don't think I have a lot of mail so I find it strange.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FYI - you are confusing terms. The Outbox is where all messages pass during the sending process. If a message cannot be sent for whatever reason, it will remain in the Outbox mailbox.
A successfully sent message is moved to the account's Sent mailbox - for the account used to send the message if settings are to store sent messages or something doesn't go wrong with this process.
What TYPE of account is this - .Mac, IMAP or POP?
If a .Mac or IMAP account, are you storing sent messages on the server or locally on the hard drive which is available under the Special Mailboxes tab for the account preferences?

  • Mail sits in outbox and doesn't send

mail sits in outbox and doesn't send

remember there is both a mail Sender and a mail Receiver. Receiver setup information is easy to find, but Sender setup information is a little harder to find.
Use exactly the settings your ISP provided, or use this Apple Mail Setup Assistant. (rest assured, Apple does not use this to collect your email address.)
    https://www.apple.com/support/mail-settings-lookup/
The easy-to-see info in Mail preferences is for your Mail Receiver. This corresponds to the top part of the box from the Apple site.
You need to use Connection Doctor and click on the red light to get easy access to the Mail Sender info. This corresponds to the bottom part of the box from the Apple site.

  • Outlook 2013 mail stuck in Outbox

We just started using Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2013 (Fresh install) but we got a problem with additional mailboxes.
When you open additional mailboxes on your exchange account settings where you have send as permissions and full access and then send an e-mail from that mailbox it stays in the outbox. Sending an e-mail in owa works fine from the mailbox.
    What can this be?

We need to try basic steps for this mail stuck in outbox issue as below:
Work offline, move the stuck mail into another folder. Restart Outlook and Work online to send it again.
Temporarily uninstall or disable firewall and antivirus software.
    Test in Outlook safe mode.
Create a new profile and re-setup your account.
Let me know the resualt. Thanks.

  • Mail stays in Outbox

I know at least four people who are having this problem as well as myself and each of us has a different Internet host, but all of us started experiencing this problem when we upgraded to Tiger OSX 10.4.8. WE can receive mail just fine, but when we send an email, it just goes to the Out box and sits there. When we run connection doctor, we are told that our Macs are communicating with SMTP and other servers just fine. And we don't get any error messages. Just mail that sits in the outbox. We've all gone to our respective Internet providers and gone through the rigamarole of resetting from Port 21 to 547 and back again. Two of us have done a clean install of System 10. Still no dice. WE can all send mail just fine with Yahoo mail and to make matters even more mysterious, I can send mail from my laptop going through my same account and mail servers. It's just my desktop Mac that's having the problem (although my friend tried to login and send on his laptop through airport to our internet connection and was NOT able to send mail.)
    Help
    G5 Power Mac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Mail silently (i.e. with no error message provided) going to the Outbox and sitting there would be typical of an account that's "offline", but I assume that's not the case, i.e. Mailbox > Go Online is disabled (grayed out), right?
I wonder whether this could be some form of index corruption. You may want to try the following and see whether it makes a difference:
    1. In Mail, move any messages that may still be in Outbox out of there, to some other mailbox.
    2. Quit Mail.
    3. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
    4. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    5. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/, locate Outbox.mbox and move it to the Trash.
    6. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be "imported". Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it's "importing", but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.

  • .mac email: can't send photos, my password is refused mail sent to OUTBOX.

I start in iPhoto and choose 4 photos to send, then type a short message. I click send from my mac.com email and get a request for a password. I type in my password and get "password not valid" reply. the mail goes to "OUTBOX" and sits there. I have resent these from the outbox over and over again. I get and send text messages with .Mac just fine.
I am using a MacBook Pro 15 inch dual processor.
I called the u.s.a. Apple Protection phone # on 011907 and was told by Jeremy to reset my password, that didn't help. He then offered that he could not do anything and I should search the Apple sites. I asked if he would extend the Protection Plan for the time since Nov. 17, 2006 that this is happining. He said that's not his department.
    CAN anyone help???

    Hi msmyczek,
I have a .Mac account. When I choose to send photo's from iPhoto, they open in a draft in the Apple Mail program. Is this what you do? If your using the Mail program and .Mac, are you able to send any other mail? If not your settings are incorrect.
Open Mail. On the Toolbar choose Mail-Preferences, and click Accounts. Under Account Information:
    Account Type: .Mac
    Description: [email protected]
    Email address: [email protected]
    Full Name: Your name
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.mac.com
    User Name: msmyczek
    Password: Your Password
    Outgoing Mail Server
Click on the drop down box. Choose Add Server
In the Outgoing Mail Server, you need to put in what that is, and you should have this information from your internet provider. Mine for instance is smtp.west.cox.net. Leave Authentification blank. Leave the Password field blank. Click OK. Then close out of Accounts. It wil ask you to Save changes.

  • TS3276 Gmail outgoing mail stuck in Outbox-please help

I have several Gmail accounts and one particular account is putting all of my outgoing mail in the OUTBOX when I send from my Macbook Pro, but not from my iPhone.

    Are you using mail.app?
Have you tried going to Message in the Menu Bar and selecting "Send Again" ?

  • Mail Sending and Outbox errors

I tried to look through old threads and find an answer to my question, but I haven't really read anything about how to fix this problem. I set up my Mail at the beginning of the summer when I got my MacBook with info for my Gmail email account. Everything was fine and I was able to send/reply/forward messages to other people. However, I just started school at UMBC and at first I was able to send. However, for the past two days my sent messages are not being sent and are being clogged in my Outbox. When I check my preferences, I see that my outgoing mail server reads "Gmail (offline)". I'm still getting incoming mail, but I'm not sure how to fix the "offline" problem. I've tried restarting the program and my computer, but the same keeps occurring.
The only thing I can think of is that to use UMBC's internet, you have to go through the intranet login pages first. I'm not sure if it's causing it or not, but it's becoming very inconvenient for me to have to open Gmail on the web and send my messages through there rather than through Mail.
Please help if you have any ideas! I'll keep checking the thread so I can provide with further information if needed.

Okay, I got mine to send (still shows as GMail Offline, though). Found this fix on the thread
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1685517&tstart=30
The post by Nathan C. (the rest of the thread was not helpful).
The solution seems to be to set the outgoing mail server (smpt.gmail.com) port to 587 instead of 25.
    Hope this helps you too!

  • How can I stop MS Outlook Mail in the outbox from being sent?

I attempted to mail an email with a large attachment file.  One of the addresses was bad.  When my Outlook is running, the Mac tries to send it and shows the progress.  However, when I look in my Outbox the files are not there.  It does show up in the Outbox progress section but I can not delete it when it is there.
    Where do these files reside?
    Is there a hidden Outbox??

Instead of using the wait ms.vi you could use 'tick count' at the beginning
of the loop and then have an inner loop that keeps checking the 'tick count'
until time minus time > time to wait.
You will need to figure out how to handle the case where the millisecond
timer wraps from 2^32-1 to zero. That should not be too difficult.

  • Outlook 2013 with Exchange 2013: Mails stuck in Outbox

    Hi everybody,
I am using Outlook 2013 connecting an Exchange 2013 server. After sending a mail, all outgoing mails remain in the outbox. After removing the cache files it works for a while until the problem occurs for the next time (approx. once every two days).
I already re-installed Windows 8 to test it on a completely clean environment...OWA works fine, the problem only exists with Outlook.
Additional note: It might be interesting that after sending a mail, the "Send/Receive progress" window states "sending [email protected] - complete" but the Mail is still in the outbox and was not delivered to the recipient. Safe mode doesn't work
for me. Other users connecting with Outlook 2010 don't have a problem with this exchange server.
Do you have any ideas? If I can provide you with further information, please let me know.
    Greets,
    Basti

Thanks for your answer. Here are the requested information:
    >What addins are you using?
No 3rd party addins, at the moment "Microsoft Exchange Add-In", "Microsoft VBA for Outlook Addin",
"OneNote Notes about Outlook Items" and "Outlook Social Connector 2013" are activated. But the problem also occurs if no addin is active (or even in Safemode).
    >Antivirus
scanners can prevent Outlook from moving messages to the sent folder.
I will try to deactivate the virus scanner the next time. (Avira is used)
    >Can
any address trigger this behavior or does it happen with certain addresses?
No, it does happen with any address by random. Once the problem occurs, I can try to send as much mails as I want to
any address - nothing leaves the outlook client.
    >Is
this your mailbox or a shared/secondary mailbox?
It is a user's mailbox, nothing shared.

  • Unable to send mail- mail remains in outbox and I receive error message

Ok, I have used Mail for years. All of a sudden I am unable to send mail. The mail goes to the outbox and then I receive the following error message.
This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
The server "smtp.mac.com" refused to allow a connection on port 25.
I can connect to webmail of course and send mail that way.
    I receive mail perfectly.
    Not sure what to do...??
Thank you for any help with this.
