Mail in my sent box won't open if sent prior to 11/26/12

I'm running OS X 10.7.4 and Mail 5.2.
Today I needed to refer to an email I sent on 11/17.  When I clicked on it all I got is the spinning "loading" message and it never opened.  I tried clicking on some other sent emails and discovered that anything I sent prior to 11/26 will not open.  From 11/26 and forward, everything is fine.
This is a pop3 mailbox on a vps server that I run.  Any ideas????
Thanks,
Bill

Your first theory may be correct.
If you haven't already, change your password on your .mac account. That will stop any further action by the other fellow. Even if you can't tease out the detail of what happened exactly, you can at least fix the problem with the password change.
Also if you left on good terms, contact the new owner of the workMac and ask if s/he used your .mac account.

  • Print Dialog Box won't Open

My husband has an Intel Mac Mini that has issues. He can't open the print dialog box from any application--Mail, Firefox, Quickbooks, Word, etc. He can't print anything at all because the dialog box won't open when selecting <file> and <print> or clicking the print icon if there is one in that application. I deleted the printers and reinstalled the drivers...nothing. I upgraded from OS 10.7 to 10.8...again nothing. I zapped the pram...still nothing. I've been using Macs for 15 years and this issue has got me stumped. Any suggestions?

I was unable to find the SavedData file.  I am running Windows 7 and there seems to be two files there /Roaming/Adobe/InDesign and /Roaming/Adobe/AdobeInDesing5.5 and neither one has a clear file name "InDesign SavedData" for me to remove.  I think I found the "InDesign Debaults" under the /Roaming/Adobe/InDesign/version7.5/en_US/InDesignDefaults.  Is that one it?

  • Links to web page in any mail message will cause Mail app to hang, and won't open Safari.

Repeatable problem on iPhone or iPad.
Any link to a web page will cause Mail to lock up and become unresponsive, and won't open the web page in Safari.
The only way out of this is to back out to the home screen, double-click on the home button, then select the Mail app icon, holding it until I can "close" it. I can then relaunch Mail and look at any message I want just like normal.  But if select any link, whether a text link or a picture in an email, the whole thing happens again.
Occurs on both my iPhone 5 and my iPad both running iOS 6.0.1.
Any suggestions that will allow me to go directly from a mail msg to a linked web page embedded within?

You ran a defective third-party "utility" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • Why does my mail have blue dots and won't open? My Internet is okay.

My Internet seems to be working fine.  I have blue dots in front of each mail message and the messages won't send.  Help.

If you can't open the messages or send emails, you can try quitting the mail app completely as well.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Tap the screen above the task bar.
Then go back and try mail again.

If you experience difficulty with the disc tray opening or closing, follow these steps to try to resolve the issue:
Turn off the power to the disc player or the stereo system, if the disc player does not have a separate POWER button.
Unplug the power cord from the AC outlet.
Verify there is nothing is blocking the tray from opening or closing.
Let the disc player or the stereo system remain without power for approximately one minute.
Plug the power cord back into the AC outlet.
Turn on the power to the disc player or stereo system.
Attempt to open or close the disc drawer or tray.
If issue recurs, reset the unit to factory settings (attached below are the steps):

  • Emails in sent box appear to have been sent, but are never received

I have an intermittent problem which is causing me no end of trouble for my business. Since about November last year, it seems that a certain percentage of my iCloud emails are never delivered to the recipient. There is nothing to identify failed messages -- they appear in my Sent box normally and as far as I can tell have been delivered normally. Some of them have been "new" messages, starting a new thread (which I suppose may possibly be trapped by someone's spam filter) but the majority are replies to another email, which I think are very unlikely to have been filtered as spam. I believe the people telling me that my emails have simply never arrived in their inbox at all. Messages with attachments and without attachments both fail. I am using the standard Apple mail client on my iMac.
This only happens with my Apple email account -- although to be fair I send much more email through that account so it is not necessarily a fair comparison. It is nothing to do with Apple filters for obscenity -- there is nothing at all objectionable in the emails that appear to be failing. Most of them are very standard business communications.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I wonder if I need to BCC myself on every message to see that it has come through (and even then, would that prove that all recipients received the message?)
Many thanks to anyone who can help

  • Mail will send slowly and won't go to sent messages

    Hi,
I switched from a Windows notebook to the 2013'sMacBook Air in the recent days and everything runs smoothly - except for the Mail.app. I'm using 4 mailboxes (personal and three different work mails) and 3 of them work perfectly. But there is a problematic one, the symptoms are:
mails will send very slowly and when I send a test mail to one of my mailboxes, it gets received sooner than it is sent in Mail Activity
the mails sent through this account WON'T go to the sent messeges box - either they do not appear at all or sometimes they magically appear as recovered messages in the "On My Mac" tab
I also tried different clients, right now I'm using Postbox and this mail account runs as it should. I tried to import the settings to Mail.app but the problem seems to persist. I also tried to reset Mail.app to factory conditions - nothing happened. Do you have any experience with this? Do you know how to fix this? Is there some app to get exact connection info for my mail account?
Thanks a lot for your help,
    Jan

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • When I'm on Facebook and play Fish World, sending gifts is no longer working, the drop down box won't open enough to see the "send" button. It works in other games, but not in Fish World, and I contacted Fish World who said it was a browser problem.

starting yesterday I cannot get the drop down box to open to send gifts to my friends. Fish world told me a few weeks ago it was due to some updates with Facebook, but now that has been fixed and I can't get the game inFB to work. It works with other browsers - Chrome and IE9. Is there something I need to do on my end to fix this? Other facebook games work fine with drop down boxes, it's only fish world.

  • Upgrade to Lion: Mail is not compatible and won't open.  How do i reinstall an updated version Mail?

So, I'm currently trying to update my parent's computer and in the process of updating their Mail application it has become unusable.  My computer at home (not my parents computer) ran into the same problem before I updated to Lion and deleting the preferences for Mail solved it.  Plus, I have read previous posts about this similar problem and a typical troubleshooting solution was to delete the Mail preferences.
After all of my software updates (Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8) and deleting the preferences for Mail, I still receive the same error message when trying to open the application.  "Mail can't be used on this version of mac OS X.  Try opening the version of Mail located in the Applications foler on your computer."  My applications folder has not been adjusted, edited or even touched from it's original state in the dock/home folder.
I contacted AppleCare support and they advised me to reformat my computer.  I think that's a little... unneccesary??  It's just Mail that isn't working.  The rest of the applications (e.g. Safari, Address Book, iPhoto, etc.) open just fine.
After a second call to AppleCare, they had advised me differently than before.  Once they found out that my personal computer has Mac OS X Lion installed from the App Store, they suggested I simply upgrade my parents computer to Lion.
So, I used my download from the App Store and upgraded.  It went smoothly, but Mail still will not open properly.  And instead of the original error message, it comes up with this:
"Check with your developer to make sure Mail can work with your version of Mac OS X.  You may need to reinstall the application.  Check if there are any updates available for the application."
How can I re-install just Mail?  A startup disk is not accessible for me right now.  Can I download the latest version of Mail and install it from the Apple.com website?

Do we get money back if it no longer opens?
Certainly not without going through basic troubleshooting steps first. Many times some basic troubleshooting will fix things. If you haven't tried anything yet, you cannot say for sure that the app will not work at all.
There are a number of things in here that you can try.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1702?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
In a worst case scenario, you can always delete the app and download it again and see if it will work. You will not be charged again as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought the app with.

  • Print Dialog Box Won't Open in InDesign CS5.5 on PC

Worked fine yesterday and today I can't get the print dialog box to open by either the print button or ctrl-P.  Have tried restarting the program and restarting the computer with no resolution.  The rest of the program works fine.

  • How do I fix this? Dialog boxes won't open completely and competion boxes don't work.

I'm using a Mac Book Air and OS X Lion 10.7.5. Firefox has been hanging up periodically and recovers after closing and re-opening, but the the frequency of hangups has been increasing. All other programs operate correctly and don't hang up. This also happens in safe mode. I've removed and reinstalled Firefox several times, but the problems remain. I've disabled all plug-ins and the problems remain. I'm led to believe that some Firefox files that are not replaced by reinstalling are corrupted and causing these problems. Also...I have screen shots but am unable to upoad them.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from [https://www.mozilla.org mozilla.org] (or choose the download for your operating system and language from [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ this page]) and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and click the close button [[Image:Close 29]]).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
