Mail in service time...how long?

I just recieved an email that Apple got my white macbook in today. I sent it in to repair screen flicker, palm rest discoloration, and the whine.
Anybody care guess how long it will take for them to send it back to me. The guy on the phone said 5-7 days. Think thats wishful thinking?

I had to send it back because the rasndom shutdown had returned after a few days of use after the 1st repair. Well, the "fixed" it alright in the first place but, they didn't know exactly what was causing the problem and then the 2nd time they changed the heat sink.
But, yeah it is safe to say it will probably take around a week to get your macbook back from repair.

  • Apple Warranty Repair Time - How long do I have to wait?

I bought a brand new Macbook Pro in June, two months ago. I recently noticed an issue with the graphics, specifically the screen saver was all messed up and the iTunes visualizer kept quitting. It's only 2 months old and should not be doing this so I took it up to the Genius Bar and had them look at it. The guy I talked to said it was looking like a hardware issue and they would have to send it in to be fixed. Okay. Kind ****** I won't have my brand new computer for 5 to 7 days, but whatever.
However, it's now been 5 days and when I check my repair status online it still says that they are waiting on the computer to be shipped to the repair center. I talked to the people at the local store and they confirmed that it was shipped Tuesday, the day I brought it in.
Is it normal for the repair status to say still waiting on the shipment 5 days after it was shipped?
How long should I wait before telling them get me my repaired computer now or give me a new one right now?
I've only had the computer 2 months, this is ridiculous!

For me, yes it does. I like to have information. Even if others find that information trivial. I'm looking for averages here. Not extremes. Is it average for me to wait this long? When has it been longer than average? When I should start to be concerned?
    I'm just curious.
This is not my first Apple computer and not my first time having to deal with apple repair. But this is the first time my problem couldn't be fixed in store or I haven't shipped it to apple myself. I have already talked to apple once, on Thursday, and for the first time got the run around. I talked to AppleCare and they hadn't received the computer yet. So I called the store and was on hold for an over an hour only to be told that they had no access to that information and I would need to go into the store to talk to someone at the genius bar for a status update. I went to the store and had to wait 30 minutes for them to find out that, yes, it had been shipped but they had no other information. Not even an exact time or day it was shipped.
I guess my real concern is, why does it seem like apple hasn't received it yet? Could it have been lost? If so, then yes, I will expect a replacement. Like I said, it's only 2 months old. I should not have to even deal with this yet. It was a small graphics problem that I was told could be fixed in a day or two. But I'm not even asking that here. I just want to find out about other users experiences.
I'm not asking anyone specifically to tell me anything. If someone reads my post and wants to tell me about how long they had to wait, great. That gives me information to think about. If not, oh well, no harm in asking. If they have no information for me, or don't want to waste their time, they don't have to reply.
Thank you to those that have given me an idea of what to expect. It does help. Like I said, my other experiences with apple repair have been quick with the updates and repairs. So not having my brand new computer, with no updates, for any period of time does cause me some concern.
I've always found this forum to be nice and helpful and I thought, if anyone could give me an idea of what the average turnaround time is for having an apple computer sent to be repaired it would be a forum dedicated to apple computer users. Is that such a big deal?

Installing Lion on a new imac. How long does it take. The screen it white for awhile?

After downloading it, which can be like watching grass grow, it should take about 20-30 minutes. However, if it's a new computer, why would you installing it?

  • Timing how long a frame has been active

I am trying to time how long a frame as been the active
frame. Once the frame is displayed, if the user doesnt press a
button to move to another frame after 6 seconds, the movie should
jump back to the previous frame it was at. I think the setInterval
function would be correct to use here to time the 6 seconds, but im
not sure how to clear the interval after. Here is my logic, (i know
    this isnt correctly coded..)
If a button was pressed before the 6 seconds has elapsed,
then it would not jump to frame5, i think.. but im not really sure
if this will work for what i am tryin to do, and if there is a
simpler way. thanks for any advice

onEnterFrame does NOT execute once when the frame is entered
(despite its name). it executes repeatedly (ie, it starts a loop)
starting when the frame that contains its code is entered and
continues until the timeline to which it's attached no longer
exists or a delete onEnterFrame is executed.
in addition, you should always precede your setInterval()
statement with a clearInterval(). especially, when your setInterval
is attached to a frame. it's almost guaranteed that you'll have a
mess on your hands if you use the code given by madmac, unless you
    add that clearInterval().

  • If processing 30000 by 700000 array how long labview will take?

I was just wandering if i can use labview or not for the following as the last day is tuesday.
    i have 700000 locations' latitude,longitude.and i have 30000 other locations'latitude,longitude.
now i will take one by one location from 30000 and want to find all the locations out of 700000 which are within the 20 miles radius of my location(which is one from the 30000).
i dont want to compare distance between one point and all the other 700000. instead can we do this comparison for some lesser values. i mean just a look at all 700000 and it may be reduced without comparing each and every value. is it possible?
    if not then---
I have made a distance calculator using formula node and it works with 100000.( i have tested) now if i make it to calculate for 700000 and that also 30000 times, how long will it take, anybody has any idea? here time is restriction.
i am using labview 8.6 evaluation version.

Of course you can use LabVIEW!
If the problem fits into the memory contraint of a 32 bit OS, LabVIEW is equally sutable as any other programming language.
As Joseph already mentioned, deciding on a good internal data structure is important for speed and efficiency. Make sure to keep the large data structures "in place" and avoid constantly making data copies in memory. I assume you have an efficient algorithm to calculate the distance between two points given their long/lat coordinates.
Why don't you start with a scaled down program containing small arrays of artificial data and work out the main algorithm. Feel free to post it here so we can discuss they layout possibly offer improvments. Good luck!

How long does a iphone 3gs restore take?
I tried to update my iphone 3gs to the new software iOS4.0.1 I guess and the phone has been restoring and i cannot see any progress.

Depends on low the battery was, but not out bounds. Mine is usually charged in about an hour or so, but I seldom let it get to near zero (and frankly don't time how long it takes).

  • Should I leave Verizon with one month left on my contract so I can upgrade? The ETF seems worth it considering the bad customer service I received and how long I've been with Verizon.

I've been with Verizon for a really long time and one of the best things about their upgrades was that they used to allow you to do it a little early.  And since you dont really keep up with plan changes until a new phone comes out or you are closer to your upgrade eligibility date, I didnt realize that they changed this.  My phone is on its last leg.  2 years is a long time for a device that you use every day, 50 times a day.  My upgrade date is a month away and I'm considering moving to a different service and letting them pay for my ETF.  I have called Verizon asking if there was anything they could do to allow me to upgrade early and they said no.  When did this start happening?  They tried to sell me the "Edge" but thats the same as paying 700 dollars.

  • EWA service data taking long time

    Hi,
In our landscape for one system while generating EWA the Service data collection is taking more than 800 min. How can we reduce this

    Hello,
I understand, but I am sure the data colelction is done on the Satellite system with the EWA SDCCN TAsk and is populated
via the SM_<SID>CLNT<nnn>_BACK RFC. So have you checked this task log for any errors or time outs? Every EWA states how long the data collection task took. But you have to look at the data colelction task to get more information.

  • How long does payment translate into service?

After my subscription has expired with no warning or prompt of how to extend it, my project is now stalled.
Trying to bring things up to speed seems to LAG. How long does payment translate into service?

    Thank you Mr. MVP.
Unfortunately on my 4 tries yesterday, chat tech support's entire contribution in assistance culminated in 4 confirmations of my perfect billing status, quickly followed by 4 bounces onto other tech support queues, climaxing in 4 disconnections due to timeout after 60 minutes wait time.
Oh yes, I even have 4 apologetic emails suggesting I try the forums for help. Given Adobe's recent hack-attack, I wasn't sure whether the suggestion to discuss my billing conundrum online was a joke or a phishing ploy.
More details? I paid, SW still remains locked on my iMac, and suggests to check my subscription setting. Following up on the prompt link brings up an all charming, all happy subscription manager, telling me everything is fine with my account.

  • Apple have killed off their best asset! MAIL-IN service NO LONGER offered!

I am the owner of a 'Friday Afternoon' iBook that has been plagued by failures since the day I bought it in March 2005. It has since had two new logic boards, new RAM, a new hard disc, new internal ribbon cables and a new bezel around the screen. Apple kept me quite happy, each time collecting the iBook and returning it repaired inside three days. I put up with the poor reliability of the iBook as Apple had made it so easy to get it repaired in a hurry. Nonetheless I made clear I wasn't satisfied with the amount of failures the iBook was suffering and was promised that if it suffered another major failure it would be replaced with a comparable new product so that I wouldn't lose faith in Apple's kit.
A couple of days ago the thing started freezing up and giving me garbled graphics again, bit by bit dying until last night only the backlight and the fan remained operational. I was well annoyed but took comfort in the knowledge that this time it would be sorted for good. I called Apple this afternoon and after performing various tests to prove the iBook had totally expired I was told there wasn't a great amount they could do themselves as they could no longer offer mail-in servicing for my product. He could give me the address of the nearest repair centre, one fairly nearby (the other 'recommended' one closer to 60 miles away). As for having the laptop from **** replaced with a functioning one this wasn't an option - it has to suffer MORE THAN THREE total failures before Apple will consider replacing it (making me wonder what the heck I paid £200 for an extended warranty for if it will only be replaced for new when it has died for a FOURTH time!).
Does anyone know any address or other contact details for someone I can reach at Apple (UK) who could sort this out for me? I'm far from a greedy person but I left the Regent Street Apple Store over £1200 lighter and less that two years later the iBook is dead (for a third time), I've got a £200 warranty that no longer provides the backup it used to and frankly if I make the effort to take it myself to have a new logic board installed I'm only going to wind up with a laptop I'm worried is teetering on the edge of death every time I use it.
I've completely lost faith in the iBook and am losing faith in Apple. I'm a massive Mac fan and this is a very sad day for me - I've been let down.
Cheers for listening, any shoulders I can cry on will be much appreciated.
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
I'm astonished that you have been fobbed off in this fashion. I, like you, had always assumed that Applecare would cover, for the duration, a mail in service. Some here, though I can't for the life of me find a relevant link, have reported having had success by contacting Customer Relations (Care?) by phone rather than dealing with support. As I understand it, you have to phone the support line, then insist, politely but firmly, that you are transferred to CR.
At all times remain polite, if firm, and stick to the facts. (No swearing, however much you might feel like it!)
    Stress the inconvenience of:
    a) Having to return to Regent Street - twice, once to deliver & again to collect,
    b) Being without the iBook that you paid a hefty chunk of £s to own and use.
    c) Anything else that you can think of that needs "stressing'…
If all else fails, you might consider contacting Trading Standards to see what advice they can offer, or maybe they can even intercede on your behalf. (Do TS do that?)
Best of luck, and I, at least, am interested!
    Take care
    Adrian, a virtual 'shoulder'

  • How long does the warranty repair service take?

    Hi,
I bought my laptop on 2007-07-06 and few days later I have noticed that my RTC battery isn working properly, so I have returned my laptop to Toshiba on 25.07.2007. On the Toshiba Service Status site http://weblord.toshiba-tro.de/WeblordTracking/default.aspx i see that they received it on 27.07.2007.
The next entry, which is 30.07.2007, says that the repair is in progress and nothing else. So, does anybody know how long can take a battery change, and how long do I have to wait for my laptop?

    Hi Leszek
As you know it is not easy to say how long time the repair will take and I presume it is not the same by every authorized service partner. Some of them do this faster and some need more time because they have no parts for replacement.
If you are now in PL (Poland I suppose) it will take a little bit more time as usual.
BTW: why you didnt try to load BIOS battery as described in Users Manuals? If I am remembering well the loading time is about 48 hours. If you want you can check it in Users Manuals.

  • ADSL2+ Live, How long for service upgrade?

I live in Thaxted (EATHA Exchange) and having just checked my exchange, via samknows, I am surprised to see that a 21CN WBC date is set for 31/07/2012. I thought that we were going to be ignored completely by BT (beyond ADSL Max), so am very very happy to see that the upgrade is taking place.
I have done some further digging and BTW info says WBC 21CN live date between 01/07/2012 and 31/07/2012. Also having checked on BTW's ADSL availablity checker I get the following:
Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 2Mbps.
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL Max broadband line speed of 8Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 7Mbps and 8Mbps.
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 17Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 10Mbps and 19.5Mbps. Our test also indicates that your line could support an estimated ADSL 2+ Annex-M broadband upstream line speed of 1.5Mbps and downstream line speed of 17Mbps; typically the downstream speed would range between 10Mbps and 19.5Mbps.
    BT Retail says available NOW!
So it seems that the exchange is ready and I would guess that new orders are automatically being put onto WBC 21CN.
I've not had any comm's from BT regarding an upgrade.
Question is, how long will it be before I get upgraded?
    Thanks,
    We5tyBoy

  • Battery service, how long to do?

My computer is telling me to take it in for service on the battery, anyone know how long of an appointment it could be?

When you get to your appointment, explain right away that you just need the battey replaced and need your computer for school. The job is quick enough to be accoomplished within the normal duration of a scheduled Genius Bar visit, if no time is wasted doing other things.
