Mail: Inbox - changes and give false info ?

Question

I am having a problem in that the message headers in Mail might say:
FROM John Smith SUBJECT RE: Houston Milk Merchant DATE RECEIVED June 3, 2010 4:53 PM
and when I open the mail it is:
FROM [email protected] SUBJECT Google Alert - mezcal DATE RECEIVED June 4, 2010 2:21:18 AM MDT
Rebuilding mailboxes does not help (other than adding a thousand of deleted messages to my inbox)
Any help appreciated.

strange IMAP error in Mail where all the header info was pointing to the wrong message.
Example from inbox:
From = Ulrike Subject = Ulrike Date Received = June 4th, 2010 Mailbox = inbox - rcooper@...
<and here is the actual>
From: [email protected]
Subject: Inv. 5312 - Inv. 5314
Date: June 6, 2010 3:59:58 PM MDT
To: [email protected]
