Mail invisible

Hello
I have 4 addresses in my inbox that I receive mail in.
They show mail that there is mail in them with the number of messages.
But the field with 'from', subject, date received have no emails shown.
So mail is in there but I can't get to it, unless I use another mail service like horde.
I ran the connection doctor and all appears fine.
BUT to the right of my @mac.com inbox there is an indication of a clock? that probably means something is wrong. Other email address show a number.
So my mail is not showing, and I cant get at it with safari mail

restarted a few times
and now shows my email

  • Mail invisible after mavericks update

I have upgraded my Mac Pro 2009 to Mavericks. Mail is now invisible. When I click on the icon in the dock, the application menu appears at the top of the page, but it is not possible to view anything, zoom to anything, or open any new windows, folders, mailboxes or mail. One time only, the icon in the dock showed the number of unread emails (which I read from a web email client on a different device. Since then, no mails are retrieved.
My only email account is an ISP account (not gmail etc)
Any thoughts? Thank-you, anyone, for your help.
    Leon

Some of your user files (not system files) have incorrect permissions or are locked. This procedure will unlock all your user files, reset their ownership, and remove their access-control lists. If you've set special values for those attributes, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Back up all data.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Smart mailbox acts weird

Since Mountain Lion, Mail.app is acting quite weird.
    - Smart Mailbox doesn't always load on start of Mail.app,
    - Smart Mailbox superimposes messages over one another in the message-list,
    - Strange characters appear after attached ZIP files in sent messages and make the rest of the mail invisible,
    - Rules are not always applied (already a problem in Lion),
    - Sometimes Mail just will not get mail from some accounts (my iPhone does),
All these points can happen together or separately. When I see'm all together, I restart Mail.app - often have to do that 3 or 4 times to get it right again.
And I do NOT want to switch to another email client.
Anybody else seeing these things too?

I am having similar problem with Smart Mailbox setting for "This Week" and "Last Week" Smart Mailboxes.
"This Week" - Smart Mailbox never shows any mail and "Last Week" - Smart Mailbox shows  what would be the "This Week" email. I have confirmed the Smart Mailbox settings for both unit are correct. I have tried rebuild no success.
    Thank you,
    Kirk

  • Mail subject/date/etc invisible!!!

The subject/date/sender/etc are all invisible! They are there b/c I can click and read the body of the email below, but the text is gone! I did install Widemail and it was working fine for a few days, but then the program began to crash a lot eventually made the e-mail details disappear. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I already tried removing the Mail folder in the library as well as the com.apple.mail.plist in the preferences folder.

Oh dear. If it is still in your trash then you should drag it back to the Users/<user>/Library. If it is not in your Trash (ie, you have emptied the trash can) and you don't have a backup, then unfortunately you have lost all your Mail.

  • "Invisible" e-mail in my Inbox

Here's a weird one that I can't figure out. Several days ago, I was mass deleting about 25 e-mails from my inbox (POP account). After selecting the ones to delete, I hit the "delete" button, & my iPhone froze. After resetting, those messages were no longer in my inbox, but they weren't in my Trash folder, either.
Later, I noticed in my Inbox that there were 25 empty slots. Like a regular e-mail, but with no address, message info, etc. Only the little arrow at the right. When I press any of those arrows, the empty slot just turns blue and stays that way.
If I press the Delete button at the top to delete, I get the little circles besides each, but I can't select them. If I do the finger swipe to delete individually, I get the red "delete" button for that message. But, when I press that, Mail crashes & the screen goes back to my Main 1st apps page.
Also, if I have one new e-mail in my inbox & am reading that, the top of the screen will read "1 of 26" instead of "1 of 1."
I have tried deleting the account & adding it back to my phone, but those "invisible" messages are still there. These messages don't show up in my Mail inbox on my computer, or in my Webmail inbox when I log on to that. Anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of these?
    Thanks...

There's nothing on the Roadrunner server. I have it set to remove mail from their server once it gets to my computer. So, my server inbox is empty. These messages are also not anywhere in the mail program on my computer. Only on my phone.

  • Mail body invisible

I've been using Mail for the last 4 months now and since recently the body of some emails (not all) are invisible to me in the preview as well as the full view.
I connect to an exchange 2007 server and from time to time I get a message with an invisible body. When I look at the same email through the exchange interface on a windows machine the bosy is not invisible.
    How come??

Same issue here. Just did the download now I'll hit the alpha key on the screen and it does not register. Only happens in landscape mode. Only tried it on imessage and SMS, did not try email yet.

  • Mail is invisible

My G4 powerbook finally died. I pulled the hard drive out and put it in a case so I could retrieve my files. Diskwarrior stated that the hard drive was malfunctioning. I successfully pulled all of my emails out of the drive then imported them into the new macmail. When I looked at them with text edit I could read them. Now that they are in macmail I can read who its from and the subject line, but the emails are invisible. Does anybody have any idea what this is?

    Try rebuilding your Mail index:
    1. Quit Mail if it's running.
    2. Go to Home/Library/Mail and remove the Envelope Index file to your Desktop.
    3. Restart Mail and allow it to import your existing messages; when it's done your Mail index will be rebuilt and your messages should now show up correctly. If so, you can delete the old Envelope Index file on your Desktop.

  • Invisible mail messages

I'm having trouble with Mail. Sometimes I click on reply to a message and the original message text disappears - rather frustrating when I'm trying to answer someone's questions. But its not a setting I've chosen - most of the time the original message text is there.
Now it's got worse - some messages are hidden I know not where. I searched for an email I knew had been sent... when I used one word of the subject spotlight found nothing but when I used the other it found the email. But when I clicked on it nothing came up - it appeared to be empty. Also it is mysteriously blank in the 'Mailbox' column. Same problem for all my emails from this person - someone in my address book, not blacklisted. Are these mails in limbo somewhere?
Really hope someone can help with this...
    Thanks!

I'm experiencing this too... it seems sporadic
Sending out of the office to a different email client seems to work OK
Sending to others on our own network who also use Macs with Apple Mail seems to cause a problem.
The subject line of the emails I send is OK
The body of the email is invisible
My colleague that received the invisible content was able to view it - by replying to it, the content displayed in the body of the reply email
    Anyone any ideas?

  • Invisible or buggy Mail Rule

Oh boy, how to describe this? Let me try...
I've been creating mail rules to shunt spam to the junk box. They work as expected. I don't like to click on a spam email, because if the images load, then the spammers get confirmation of a "live" email address. So I was creating a rule with my room mate's email selected instead, since it was next door to the spam. Of course, the rule was "born" populated with my room mate's email address in the "From Contains" field. So I deleted his address and put in the spam title. Now the rule works on the spam, but also all my room mate's emails keep getting sent to the junk box! Yet I completely eliminated his address from the rule. Just to make sure, I deleted and recreated the rule, to eliminate the possibility of contamination. My room mate's emails are still getting junked, and I can find no rule or reason for this in my mail account. This is truly annoying! It's like there is an invisible rule, or a corruption in my mail rules. Every time my rom mate sends me an email now, it shows up in my junk mail box. How to identify the problem & fix this? I have used the exact same method many times before to create mail rules without any problems!

Nothing you will ever do or no amount of rules will catch all spam. I try to use basic thought on this.
First off, you should have a good address book with trusted contacts and all their emails listed.
Here's the 3 rules I use for spam: You might also add another for .gif attatchments.
Depending on the spam you get, you might think of different ones to include. Any contact I have would be excluded from these rules. Any other ligitiment company or person wanting to contact me personally would not be send me anything under these conditions and would be spam to me. It won't stop the clever spamers sending messages specifically to me, but most will send to multiple addresses at one time and get picked up by these rules.

  • Saving Mail messages as text or rtf to a server makes them invisible

If I save an email message as text or rtf to a LaCie NAS server, the resulting file is tagged as invisible. If I save it to the Mac's hard disk it is not. It's relatively easy to untag the files, but I need to save dozens on some days and it's laborious. Any ideas … ?

It gets worse. I have just saved an incoming mail message with three attached photos. It said it was saving the images (hooray) and it created an RTFD file (folder). However, when I opened the saved document there were no images! Very very odd...
Some readers may think that I must be getting it all wrong and this is just pilot error. I can here reassure them that is not the case; I am a technically competent Apple user of some 25 years' experience. I am not a code monkey though; I can strip down and reassemble a thirty year old naturally aspirated performance engine but I would not be able to do anything under the hood which involved chips and computers!
It is a difficult one to pin down but I will be very interested to know if any other Lion upgraders are experiencing similar problems, however ill-defined.

  • Not exactly 'Invisible Mail' problem

For the past two weeks, I have been receiving mail from several people that have 'empty' messages. I can access the content of the email from any other source, just not Mail.
I can see the email has arrived in Mail, it shows the sender, time, etc - all information is there - except the message itself (this is apparently not the same as the 'invisible email' issue others have had with SPAM mail - these are legitimate senders). If it is a forwarded message, the forwarded part is there - but the message directly from the sender is missing.
I assumed this was just a random problem from one sender who was maybe using some updated software that wasn't compatible with Mail, but every day more and more of my senders emails are coming across this way.
I can see the messages on my iPhone mail client - but not my Laptop Mail client.
I think this may have started occurring after the last software update.
Does anyone else have this problem?... solution?
    Thanks!!... Jeff

How do i merge all the XSL's..... can i use something
like a master XSL that calls the other 4 documenst
    one after the other.
    Something like <XSL:Import> or <XSL:Include>
You can import other stylesheets and use the templates they contain. You can also import one or more stylesheets and then optionally redefine any templates that they define.
    <xsl:stylesheet      version="1.0"
                                       xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"

<!-- import the core functionality -->
         <xsl:import href="../common/generic_csv.xslt"/>

</xsl:stylesheet>Is this what you are after?

  • Safari invisible from Mail hyperlink

Using Lion, when I click on a hyperlink in a Mail message, Safari starts, but the web page never appears. I can see its title in Safari's list of open pages, but the page itself is invisible. If I copy the URL and paste it into the Safari address line, it opens fine. Ideas? Yes, I have looked on the other desktops in Mission Control. Not there.

    More info:
It seems to be the screen going to sleep, not the computer. When I come back and touch the mouse or the keyboard, as the screen lights up, there is a flash of the web pages I left up, then they vanish.
    Yikes!!!

  • Invisible email messages in Mail

OK, so I have a client that sends me email on occasion, and after a little research, we realized that her signature makes her emails invisible to Apple's Mail on my two Macs.
I can see her email on the server through webmail, but not on my computer. If Mail has retrieved the email, it will show as "read" in webmail, but not show up at all in Mail... No, it's not in the spam folder, it's not even searchable.
The two Macs that can't see this email, which can be seen in Thunderbird, by the way, are running two different OS's. One running 10.5.8, the other 10.6.8.
I can't keep asking my client to remove her signature every time she sends me an email. Any ideas on how to remedy this?
Oh, she is sending them from her iMac using, you guessed it, Apple Mail.

  • Invisible junk in ~/Library/Mail folder?

I have two imap mail accounts, one with .mac and another. Inside my folder ~/Library/Mail, one of the folders for the non-.mac account is quite large, ~325 MB, even though:
    a) there is not much mail in any folder of the account, and
    b) the only visible contents of the folder (2 folders, INBOX and INBOX.imapmbox) only add up to 11.5 MB.
Rebuilding the mailbox from the Mail application doesn't help. There seems to be some invisible junk in there, and probably elsewhere in the Mail folder. The number and hierarchy of folders in the Mail folder is very confusing. I have maintained these accounts through a lot of system changes. How do I clean it up and get rid of the unnecessary stuff?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    b) the only visible contents of the folder
(2 folders, INBOX and INBOX.imapmbox) only
    add up to 11.5 MB.
Is the INBOX.imapmbox located within the INBOX folder?
Regardless, I don't believe having both folders is normal - you should have an INBOX.imapmbox only.
    Try the following.
Quit the Mail.app first and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail. Copy the Mail folder and place the copy on the Desktop for backup purposes.
Using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > Envelope Index. Delete the Envelope Index file and in addition, delete the .Mac account named folder and the account named folder for the IMAP account and empty the Trash.
Launch Mail and you will be prompted to import all mailboxes available within the Mail folder at Home > Library > Mail.
Select OK and allow the import process to complete. This isn't really importing anything but replacing the Envelope Index file and re-indexing all messages. In addition, a new .Mac account named folder and a new account named folder for the IMAP account will be re-creating automatically along with new .imapmbox folders for the server stored mailboxes. All messages available on the server for both accounts will be re-synchronized with the server.
If this is successful and resolves the problem and after confirming all messages are available, you can delete the copy of the Mail folder placed on the Desktop.
