Mail is No Longer Suggesting Frequent Contacts as Recipients

No one seems to have posted about this before, so I'm wondering if it's just me, but...
Since upgrading to 3.0, Mail is no longer suggesting my most frequently emailed contacts when I type the first letter of an email recipient. It's lost this intelligence (though I can't figure out how they're basing the sort order, which isn't straight alphabetical, either).

Is it that Mail doesn’t mark messages as read or that messages marked as read revert to the unread status some time afterwards?
Do you have any Mail plug-ins or system utilities that could interfere with Mail? In the Finder, go to each of the following folders (if they exist). What do you see there?

~/Library/InputManagers/
/Library/Mail/Bundles/
~/Library/Mail/Bundles/
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

So the answer to my question is yes - from an old Exchange account that was provided by a previous employer.
If so, you can't.
You can't merge or transfer contacts that were synced over the air with an Exchange account with another account, and the same for syncing the contacts direct with a supported address book app on your computer. This is how most employers want it.

Apple Mail Rules no longer seeing Contact Groups

I am running 10.8.3 and have many rules set up in Apple Mail, most of which label and organize my incoming e-mail, but something has happened and the rules stopped applying. I went in and checked my rules and the problem is that Mail is no longer seeing my groups in contacts. The drop down menu when I set Sender is member of Group now is grayed out and says no groups in Contacts. This is not the case, I have many groups set up on Contacts.
Anyone have any idea what is going on or how I can fix this. I have run permissions and run Disk Warrior on my drop, but neither seemed to do anything.

Try booting into the Safe Mode. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application unistaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

I had to re-initialized my iTouch (ios5.0.1) and since then I have no longer got the contacts symbol. However my contacts are still there when I want to send a email for instance, but I can't add any like before when this app was in.

Long "Internet" address stored in Frequent Contacts

GroupWise 8.0HP2 on Windows 2008 servers
I have some users who report that addresses for internal people are being stored in a weird format. I've emailed the same people and their normal (internal) name/address is what gets stored in my Frequent Contacts.
What causes this address format to be stored in a user's Frequent Contacts address book: "[email protected]".[email protected], even though that recipient is an internal person?
Their regular Internet email address ([email protected]) may also be stored in the same Frequent Contacts book. Each is identified with the same person and, depending on which way their address book is sorted, determines which one is at the top of the list when they are offered to choose the address to use.

Move Between PO's Caused Loss of Mail and Frequent Contacts

I recently moved a user between post offices because he was moving to a different building. The move process went smoothly, but afterwards he had none of his email or frequent contacts prior to that point. Is there anything I can do about this?

I would start by checking the the post office reported and User Move Status for the user in question in ConsoleOne while connected to the primary, source and target domains.

Deleting Objects from Frequent Contacts

Hi, I am writing a C3PO to remove certain contacts from a user's
Frequent Contact's list. It is mostly working, however it seem that
Groupwise occasionally freezes after my C3PO has run.
My C3PO creates a new thread on the Ready event, and then proceeds to
process and delete duplicate entries from the Frequent Contacts. The
thread completes without a problem, but then Groupwise will sometimes
lock up a few seconds or minutes later. Other times Groupwise might not
freeze at all. Or sometimes, GroupWise might work fine, but when I quit
Groupwise the window disappears without the process disappearing.
Causing future sessions to not start up.
Is there any known issues concerning removing items from the Frequent
Contacts list. Do I need to tell Groupwise that I have made changes to
the FC or something? Has anyone else experienced similiar instability
from their plugins? Any comments, suggestions?

Just wanted to add some additional information.
The freezing only happens after I delete an item from the frequent
contacts (maybe from other contacts as well, although I haven't tried).
The freezing does NOT happen if I delete the items from within the Ready
event handling routine. So it seems to be related to having a seperate
thread perform the deleting.
The problem with not using a thread, is that the process can take a long
time if the client is not in Caching mode and it doesn't seem reasonable
to make the user wait so long everytime GroupWise starts up.
Any suggestions? Is there another way to get a startup notification and
perform my procedure?

How can I remove my new iCloud e-mail and return my MS Outlook Contacts to my PC?

Just got a new iPhone 5S. Wanted to backup 4s to iCloud so I entered iCloud setup. In going through the iCloud set up process I created an iCloud e-mail account despite having no need for one. It appeared as if it was a necessity ?, I use MS Outlook 2010 for e-mail. iCloud set up requested I create an iCloud e-mail, so i did. I do not need an iCloud e-mail. In the process of setting up the new iCloud e-mail, setup removed all my contacts from Outlook and sent them to the iCloud e-mail account, I assumed that the contacts would be copied, not moved. I no longer have any contacts in Outlook. I would like to remove the new e-mail account from iCloud and ensure that the associated contacts are returned to my PC properly. All the iCloud e-mail help areas I have looked through have not provided any guidance on this issue. Perhpas I only went down ten layers of info and this info is in the 15th layer down? Thanks for any guidance, Apple/PC folks. Craig

I just found the contacts for my Outlook account hidden in an iCloud folder in Outlook.
I still would like advice to remove my new iCloud e-mail and return Outlook to it's previous state, if someone knows this?

Where error messages are you getting?
Can you not do both? Send and Receive?

My Mac Mail program no longer stores any files in my Sent folder. When I try to send an e-mail it just spins. What's up?

My Mac Mail program no longer stores any files in my Sent folder. Moreover, the sent folder (off to the left) contains a highlighted "1" as if something is in there.
When I try to send an e-mail message, it simply spins.
This is new behavior for my Laptop of three years. Usually, I have lots of messages in my Sent folder and can easily send e-mail.
I see no discussion forum for "Mail" or for "e-mail" so I raise this question here.
I would appreciate any help anyone might offer.

Safari 6.0.4 "broke" Share button - also Mail can no longer find the application (installed via Map App store)

Since installing the 6.0.4 Safari update via the Mac App store, I have a host of problems:
1. Mail can no longer find "an associated app" when I click on a url in a mail message
2. The Share button (extension) in the Safari toolbar no longer works
3. Any attempt to open a new url results in a new safari window being opened although in my preferences I have "open new windows in tabs" selected
4. If I click on a tab that was previously open I am continually asked to refresh the window
5. I have had about a half dozen "Safari not responding" events since the upgrade, forcing me to Force Quit - generally when I'm trying to use one of the extensions or returning to a prebiously opened tab
6. Safari is intermittently unresponsive to mouse clicks -functionality can only be restored by refreshing the page
7. Safari can no longer find my passwords for some extensions (e.g. Buffer)
8. Safari is EXTREMELY slow loading pages - stalls out a few moments after entering url (or switching back to that tab) - sometimes for as long as 2 or 3 minutes
All the Safari extensions I have were eeither pre-installed or from Apple's Safari extensions page.
The install also corrupted my iCloud (AppleID) password, but thiswas easily fixed in Keychain.
Anyone have a fix or know of any software conflicts that could be responsible?

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then uninstall them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.

Mail app no longer "speaks" English

Opened my Mail app today...and it was in Chinese!?
My International System Pref listed Chinese second to English. When I made Danish a second choice, the Mail app opened in Danish.
The Language list in the Get Info window for the Mail app no longer lists English.
Any ideas to fix this? Specifically, and obviously, how to I get English back into the app?
And another thing. The only way to quit this now foreign-speaking app is to Force Quit.
Grateful for any help.

sounds like the English part of Mail app has oddly vanished - you're going to have to restore it from a backup, another 10.5 mac, or reinstall it from the dvd & then run the 10.5.8 combo update.
If you like tinkering, get Pacifist from http://charlessoft.com which you can use either to grab the Mail app from the Leopard dvd, or extract/replace just the missing language parts, with any luck
