Mail is not working. Full Stop. HELP!!

This is the error message i get whenever i try to send email:
"Some actions taken while the account “My Account Name” was offline could not be completed online.
Mail has undone actions on some messages so that you can redo the actions while online. Mail has saved other messages in mailbox “On My Mac” in “On My Mac” so that you can complete the actions while online.
Additional information: The connection to the server “mail.mac.com” on port 143 timed out."
I cannot send or receive. Connection Doctor says its all OK. when i send, the activity window in bottom left shows status bar up to half way, then it just hangs there and after bout 5 mins - error message. I have to force quit everytime now.
I'm on Leopard.

I don't want to delete my account. it will delete all messages, notes, & to-dos.
It is .mac. it used to work until yesterday, so its been working fine for months.
I've sent some test emails which hang and give the error msg, but then half hour later they actually arrive. So i can send - VERY slowly and only occasionally, meaning the connection settings must be somewhat correct. I still have not received a msg since Mail started playing up, but have received many to my account, as i know from signing in online. they just do not show up in mail app.

Camera button not working full stop

Hi,my phone is a few days old,since having said phone is z1 compact,I.cannot take a picture with my camera button if my phone is on nevermind sleep mode,I have tried changing all the settings..the only way of taking a pic is touching the screen button..is there a fault here? My front camera managed to go black while trying out a selfie..also is the front camera , an image flipper? Everything reversed? Really disappointed s far with this phone..I have a button which is redundant what can I do? it's a £400 phone that is unable to take a pic with the dedicated button.

When you try take the picture are you getting a clicking sound? if you are have you tried holding the key down harder after the first initial clicking sound.

I, too, am having a problem with my Yahoo email account on my first generation IPad. I can't download my emails to my IPad from the server. The IPad looks like it's trying to download them but can't do it. I am able to send emails from my IPad with my Yahoo account.
This problem started yesterday, Aug., 25th, the day after I uploaded the last update from Apple. I am able to set up another email account through Sbcglobal that will download my emails to my IPad but it is not sync'ed with my desktop mail which creates a mess when I move or delete emails.
I've tried deleting my Yahoo account and then adding it back. Also I've reset my IPad and I've done a full restore.
I think it has something to do with the last update, which I believe was a security update, which may have reset the firewall. That's just a guess.
Has anyone figures out anything else?

1 . We updated OS to mavericks few machine in last december and still does't works SMTP (Out going mail) on those MAC.
2. After that most recently we updated OS to mavericks few machine those are working will with SMTP server .
a)Not showing any SMTP connection in TCP trace ,
b) Connection docter every time Says "Connecting to the server "
3, Then we have installed thunderberd (another mail) client on maverick os, which OS related to apple mail client not woking . It seems other mail client is working well with SMTP server .

Can you access the account from another device?
Without you telling use the email provider and type of account we can't really help you.

Paldeng, thanks for the suggestion. I've done all that. I can connect to the server, but apparently they are not recognizing my ID and password. I can use the server program if I don't go through Mail (using the same ID and password). My mother in another state with another provider has had the same email issue, as also my husband on his laptop who uses the same internet connection I do. His worked fine until we had it repaired at the Apple store and all the original programs reloaded (with the required updates, I assume). We can receive email in Mail, we just cannot send.
I contacted my service provider, and we went over my connections. They said it was not their problem and connected me with Apple, resulting in a charge to me because my warranty is long expired. Apple swears it is not their problem, it is the provider, so here I sit. My son was able to fix my Mom's Mail (she's 97) and got my husband's working also, until mine went out, by tweaking connection descriptions and ports remotely. The thing is, we had not messed with any of those settings, so what changed? I just did not want to bother my son again, as he has many other demands on his time.
Since this fiasco with the Mail v4.6 update, I'm wondering if something else was updated that works well with Lion and Mountain Lion, but does not work well with Snow Leopard and Leopard. I think the problem I had with the Mail update was that my Mail program had been renamed to Mail (original), and therefore was not being recognized by the update. Perhaps they had another tweak in there somewhere that is affecting outgoing mail connections?

Download the yahoo email app, if you already deleted and reinstalled the email account and still have issue.
This is a known issue with Yahoo email account.

Who is your ISP, how is your mail configured - POP or IMAP and do you get any error messages and if so what are they?

Mail is not working. The app opens because I see a light on under "Mail" in the dock.

It is like it is running in the background, but I can't see it. Everthing is subdued when I click on the choices up in the menu. I have tried "Force Quit" and then re-opening the mail app several times, and have rebooted my notebook twice. What is weird is that this started right after I changed my password in a browser (it is a gmail account). I went into the System Preferences on my MacBook and changed my password there as well, so it should be setup properly to open. I am running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5. Any help anyone can provide is much appreciated.

I most often do not restart my new MBPro .... 10.9.5 ..... but happened to a day or so ago, and it immediately began to block / problem with email .... I waited to see if it sorted out, but no .....
I get he server “p06-imap.mail.me.com” cannot be contacted on port 993 ..... then deselected SSL and that did not help, so went back and selected it again .... and again not working .....
I can see my stuff "online" but I do not want to do it that way EVER .....
your "deselect mail" in ICloud preferences .... did nothing good for me .... any other thoughts Linc ?? in fact, some hundreds of in and sent emails did not show up .... I'm hoping they are going to when this gets fixed .... but hey, ..... right now I'm NOT in business ....
