Mail is not working properly (cannot replay), and skype cannot be answered

Did the verification, repair and installation disk of Mac. Why mail is not working properly (cannot replay), and skype cannot be answered?

I most often do not restart my new MBPro .... 10.9.5 .....  but happened to a day or so ago, and it immediately began to block / problem with email .... I waited to see if it sorted out, but no .....
I get he server “p06-imap.mail.me.com” cannot be contacted on port 993 .....     then deselected SSL and that did not help, so went back and selected it again .... and again not working .....
I can see my stuff "online" but I do not want to do it that way EVER .....
your "deselect mail" in ICloud preferences    ....   did nothing good for me .... any other thoughts Linc ??   in fact, some hundreds of in and sent emails did not show up .... I'm hoping they are going to when this gets fixed .... but hey, .....  right now I'm NOT in business ....
thanks

  • Why Mail does not work properly after updated to Mountain Lion?

I updated to ML two days ago and my Mail is not working.  I can read but cannot reply because there is no cursor.  Restarted a few times, no change.  Anybody has the same problem??
    Rudh

I forgot to mention (and add a new level of strangeness) that Mail is retreiving all of my messages from my personal (AT&T) account without issue.
And I just discovered an even bigger problem: all of my emails from my Sent and other folders from my work account are completely gone!
I may have no choice but to revert to my Lion system as of yesteday, before I installed ML.

  • Just upgraded to iOS5 on iPad. Music app and mail does not work properly.

Just upgraded iPad2 to iOS5. Music app does not work properly. When I select a song to play, it plays a different song. Sometimes, it just stops playing songs, other times, it shuffles songs.
    Not sure whats going on.
    Worked fine using iOS4.3.5.
Synced the iPad to iCloud. enabled mail. It shows under settings that the iCloud mail is setup, but the mail does not appear in the mail app. Not sure whats happening with these functions on iOS5.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • My Mail is not working properly after installing Lion

I just installed Lion and my mail is not working.  It keeps asking me for the password and says it can not go online.  All my mail folders have disapeard and with them my saved emails!  Also the Back to Mac is not able to take my password either.

    Ouch...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

    Need Help Please

Try this. Open one of your files. The window that contains your picture is named at the top. Command click on the name and you'll see the entire path starting with its name and then moving to the folder, the folder it is contained in, etc all the way to down to the hard drive volume name. This should tell you where to find the folder.

  • Mail search not working properly

Just upgraded to ML and the search function in mail just isn't working properly, I didn't think the Lion mail search was great but this one seems 10 times worse. If I search for words contained within a message, the results only show messages from the last couple of months even though I know there's dozens of messages containing the same word from the last couple years.
I tried repairing permissions and rebooting. Still same issue.
If I manually open an old message, and then perform a search, that particualar message will get included in the results, but I can't open thousands of emails just for the search to index them.

You should try rebuilding your Spotlight index, as that's what Mail uses.
Go to Spotlight preferences, and drag your boot drive (probably called "Macintosh HD") into the privacy pane.  Say OK to the warning.  Then after about 10 seconds, remove it.  The whole drive will be re-indexed (this will take a couple hours) and then search should work again.

  • Document Server not working properly on Vista and website

I just got a new PC with Vista Home premium edition and Document server is definitely not working the same as it did on my XP. I know it's an old program so I guess it's finally be time to buy the new stuff but why won't it work on the website I utilized it with? I'm using it with a basic html website that contains no flash (some rollovers though) and it still doensn't transfer over properly. You can even see it if you go to the third tab on the home page http://www.creditcardforum.com to see what I mean. Is it finally just time to let go of this product and upgrade? Has anyone used it successfully with with Vista?

I mad the biggest mistake when I bought all new Windows Vista Pc's. They dont work very well with many products. I tried to format and install a Vista PC and put Windows XP Pro on it but I had so many troubles since I need every new driver in the world. I now just use Adobe Document Server on my Laptop that has XP Pro on it. Works great on there.

  • E-mail alerts not working properly

I have a problem with my Tour which has put me in some awkward situations- like in court and work meeting- not good.
The e-mail alert makes an audible noise even when the setting is programmed for silent. My original Tour worked fine at first, and after about 3 weeks the problem appeared. Verizon replaced the phone and now the replacement worked fine at first and is now messing up after about 3 weeks.
I need a fix for this problem. I saw someone else described the same problem on the Storm forum. It appears it might be a software issue.

"Normal" is what you set it to be (with or without email alerts, etc). Loud and Silent should be evident as well.
I still think you have some setting to override the silent profile for something.
If you look at the Silent profile and check the email settings for volume, etc., everything is set to off or mute or whatever would be appropiriate for "silent'?

  • Macbook 2009 Not working properly [Error -50 and other several issues]

    Hello there!
I am having several issues with my Macbook, they all showed unexpectedly. Most applications would not work, such as Disk Utility or Pages. Safari couldn't load any webpage, just after a long time it was able to display them. Also, I was having some kind of error -50 when trying to move or delete any file, and iTunes was showing the following message; "iTunes can't verify the identity of the server "ax.itunes.apple.com". The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "ax.itunes.apple.com". I couldn't turn off the computer either, when I tried to doing so it wouldn't do anything, I had to press the power button to turn it off. After that, I turned the computer on, everything showed up as normal but after a few seconds later the computer suddenly turned off, I tried again but I got the same result. Afterwards, I tried in recovery mode, and weirdly, it didn't show any problem. I ran disk utility and verified the hard drive but it says it's working perfectly. The SMART status also says the hard drive is fine.
What could this mean? All these problems appeard suddenly, I've never had any of those issues before.
I have a late 2009 Macbook with Mavericks Installed,
    4GB of RAM,
    A 320GB Seagate Hard drive,
    And a 250MB Graphics Card.
    Thanks for your help!

    Hello there!
Thanks for your reply! I have no anti-virus software installed, but I have (rather said, had) CleanMyMac though. I installed the demo version and ran it only once. I was curious about it, I had no idea it could make as much damage as MacKeeper.
Also, I scaned again my internal Hard Drive with Disk Utility using the OS X Installation DVD, and according to the report, the partition where the operative system is located is corrupted. Disk Utility tried to repair it but failed, and the most reliable option was to reformat the disk. I proceeded to reformatting it but unfortunately the process was not succesful - I got an error that reads; "POSIX reports: The operation couldn’t be completed. Cannot allocate memory". I tried to reformat the disk using the terminal, but I was only able to erase it, not to format it. I did a research and I found out the problem might be the SATA cable, (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3507546).
Could that explain also the weird behaviour when I was using the computer? I guess my best bet now is to get a new SATA cable.

  • I have problems with my email. I tried to send a file, which is to large. Now my e-mail is not working properly

I hope you can help me. I sent a file on ppt through my e-mail. Unfortunately it wasn't delivered and now it seems it is trying to do it without success. The file is very large and I think that is the problem. Does anyone know I could stop the delivery process?
    Thank you very much

This forum is for discussing an application called Front Row.
If you would please state what Mac you have and what version of OS X I will ask the hosts to move your post to the correct forum.

  • Screen Saver and Dock and Mail all not working properly

I'm helping my husband troubleshoot some issues he is having. His machine is a new (couple of months) Mac Pro Quad Intel with 10.6.2.
He has never been able to get the ScreenSaver to 'see' iPhotos. iPhotos completely quit launching today and I did everything I read on the boards, finally settling on deleting and reinstalling from the Snow Leopard disk. It works fine, but Screensaver still does not see it. I have deleted, the com.apple.screensaver caches and anything in preferences that had to do with screensaver including the plist. I restarted the machine and it made no difference, other than the hot corners finally started working.
It won't keep certain applications in the dock. Like Word. They disappear every time the machine is restarted. As above.. I have deleted the com.apple.doc.db and com.apple.dock.plist to no avail.
This just started today as well... When the mail has when the program has been Quit, with every 30 minutes set in the mail preferences, it will launch, every 30 minutes. The dock icon will bounce and Mail will ask for the password so it can check for new mail. But the program was not open for it to be checking for mail. Oddly, something like this is also happening on his old G5 sitting in the other room. The only thing common to them is they are on the same network and pulling email from the same ISP account. Though the G5 is no longer scheduled to actively get new mail at any time, it is for some reason self-launching. I have no idea why my mail was open on that machine when I saw it this afternoon, but there it was.
It is a lot of issues. He has been having issues since he got the machine and gets one resolved and then discovers another one. But the Dock and ScreenSaver he has never been able to resolve, Mail is a new issue. He has re-installed Snow Leopard 10.6.2 twice thinking something had become corrupted, I am using the same OS X on my machine and having no issues, I can see no difference in the settings. If I can't get some ideas from y'all here then I guess I am going to have to go to tech support because it seems to be one weird thing after another.

Even in big sky country, people must know where the Desktop resides. It's what's on the screen when all windows are closed. Thus, move the om.apple.screensaver.XXXXX.plist file in the ByHost subfolder out of there and put it on the Desktop. The next statement: +*System Preferences->Desktop & Screen Saver->and iPhoto should be available.*+ means open System Preferences, select the Desktop & Screen Saver prefPane (preference pane) and in the listing should appear iPhoto. It does on my machine. If not, then restart and see if the iPhoto folder appears in that prefPane.

  • I updated to Lion and now the Search function in Apple Mail is not working properly

Even though the "All" option is selected, when I type a string in the Mail spotlight search box, the string is not found.  But I know for a fact the string is in an email and I've manually found the email (in a folder) and copied and pasted it into the search box.  Mail is still not able to find it.
I have also checked to make sure that "Message contains" is the option in the search box.  I've noticed that in some previous searches there has been a little arrow dropdown option next to the magnifying glass icon.  But that arrow is not showing up consistently...and is not showing up now.
    What am I doing wrong?

Ok...here's the steps to fix this as efficiently as possible.  I have a whole bunch of mailboxes under "On My Mac" and they have a bunch of mailboxes nested in them.  I get my messages into Apple Mail via IMAP.  (I don't know if this matters.)  The steps below assume you have a similar setup.
    1.  Hold the Option key down and click the dropdown arrow next to each mailbox that has one.  This will cause all nested mailboxes below it to appear.
    2.  Go to the top of the list of mailboxes under "On My Mac" and highlight the first mailbox.  Then hold the Shift key down and highlight the last mailbox in the list.  This will cause all of the mailboxes and nested mailboxes to be highlighted.
    3.  From the menu, select "Mailbox --> Rebuild" and the rebuild process will start.
    4.  Watch the top of the mail screen to see the message count change as the mailboxes are being rebuilt.  Wait until the activity stops before doing the next step.
    5.  As the mailboxes were rebuilt, many messages were reset as "Unread" even though every message was previously "Read."  Make sure the mailboxes you want to affect are still highlighted.  Right-click and select "Mark All Messages Read."
That fixed the problem for me.

  • Mail does not work properly with gmail

Hi everyone. I am a very recent switcher and the switching process was great and extremely easy, but there has only been one problem that I can't seem to solve. Getting Gmail to work with Apple Mail. I followed all the steps on gmail's website on, how to set up gmail for POP, and how to configure Apple Mail to work with gmail, but I still can't get it to download all my emails. It only downloads some old emails, marks them all as unread, and then doesn't act like I have any other emails(which I do). Under system preferences, I have the account type labeled as POP, the incoming mail server set to pop.gmail.com, my username and password set, and the smtp box set to smtp.gmail.com. Under server settings I have the server port at 587, the ssl box checked and the outgoing mail server as stmp.gmail, like I said before. Under the advanced tab of the accounts section of apple mail preferences, I have the account enable box checked, the include when automatically checking for new mail box checked, and down at the bottom, I have the port set at 995 with the ssl box checked. In gmail, under my forwarding and POP settings, I have it set, under the POP download section to: Enable POP for all mail(even mail that's already been downloaded). Also, the status is set to "POP is enabled for all mail that has arrived since 10/13/05(which was when i first got my gmail account). Like I said before, Apple Mail at first starting downloading all the mail in my gmail account and then stopped after about 1000 to 2000 messages which only got it to about mid-2006 or earlier. Yes, I've run software update recently, too. Does anyone know why it would not dowload the rest of my mail? All help is very greaty appreciated. Thanks.

I just put my gmail account in Apple Mail and it works fine - even transferring my old gmail messages. Maybe your problem is STORAGE - see this from Mail Help:
    About .Mac Mail
.Mac Mail works with existing email clients like Mac OS X Mail, Outlook Express, and Netscape Communicator.
You can also check email when you're away from your own computer. All you need is a computer with an Internet connection and a supported web browser to check your .Mac Mail. To access .Mac Mail on the web using Mac OS X version 10.3 or later, use Safari 1.2 or later or Firefox 1.0.1 or later. If you're using Microsoft Windows XP, use Firefox 1.0.1 or later or Internet Explorer 6 or later.
Use POP or IMAP protocol to suit your working style and set up automatic email forwarding or replies.
Your email address is your .Mac member name followed by @mac.com, and the password for accessing email is the same as your member password.
Note: AOL recently added support for IMAP, so you can now read your AOL mail using Mac OS X Mail. You cannot use AOL's email program to read .Mac Mail messages directly, but you can set up your .Mac Mail account to forward email to your AOL account.
.Mac comes with 1 gigabyte (GB) of combined email and iDisk storage. .Mac trial members and email-only accounts get 50 megabytes (MB) of storage; Family Pack sub-accounts get 256 MB. You can designate storage space to your .Mac Mail account and your iDisk. For example, if you need more storage space for your email messages, you can set your .Mac Mail storage capacity to 800 MB and reserve 224 MB of storage for your iDisk. You can also increase your combined email and iDisk storage to a total of 2 GB or 4 GB by purchasing more storage. (If you have a trial account, email-only account, or Family Pack sub-account, you cannot increase your storage amount.)
Your .Mac Mail storage is automatically set to 512 MB unless you change it. You can't assign less than 15 MB of storage to your .Mac Mail account.
.Mac comes with 10 GB of data transfer per month and a 10 MB maximum message size. You can increase your monthly data transfer limit up to 250 GB per month by adding more storage space to your .Mac account. You can also purchase up to 10 additional email accounts. (Email-only accounts get 50 MB of storage space but no additional .Mac services, and Family Pack sub-accounts get 256 MB of storage space, but cannot purchase additional email accounts.)
If I had 2000 emails on my computer I would shut it down and never turn it on again.
