Mail is offline and will not go online.

Recently mail went offline and I can't get it to go online. i have a Mobile me account and 3 POP3 Accounts. First i deleted my accounts and re-entered my info, then i deleted the entire library/mail folder with the same result. I also tried to get my mobile me mail with Mozilla Thunderbird and the connection was simply refused. I can still get all my mail through a web browser and my Iphone so my user/pass information is correct. I'm sure someone has the same problem but I can't seem to find anything in 10,000 threads, any ideas?

Well connection doctor says:
1. mail was able to connect to the internet.
2. Could not connect to the MobileNe IMAP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the account prefs section. Also verify that the server supports SSL.
3. Same for SMTPout: Could not connect to the MobileNe SMTP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the account prefs section. Also verify that the server supports SSL.
I tried connecting with Secure Socket Layer on and off with the same result.
I know my password is correct since it's the same as the one i'm using for this appleID/support thread. I just tried to take all accounts online, quit and restart mail. Still no change. hmmmmmmmmm. When i hit check mail it plays the sound you get when there's no new messages on the server instead of giving me a unable to connect message.

    Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)

    I have a deskjet printer model 4260. I recently replaced one of the inkcartridges, prior to that the printer worked.
    Now I can not get the printer on line, no matter what I do. I am able to print a test page with all colors working.
    I am running windows 7.  I believe I have tried everything, like plug and play, to shutting the system down and
    bringing it back on line.
    The router I am using is Linksys it is hard wired

  • My Hp 8500a plus printer keeps saying it is offline and will not print. Was printing now stopped.

    I have an HP 8500a plus printer. Lately, when I go to print from Macbook or iPad, it tells me the printer is offline. My printer says it is connected to my wifi but will not print. Printer firmware is up to date. I have changed nothing, and now it will not print. Very frustrated and tired of spending all of this time trying to fix the printer just to print. This is my second HP printer this month and it works sometimes and doesn't work sometimes. 
    Am I missing something? I don't understand how it can print one day and not the next. 

    Try this if it is an Airprint Printer.
    1. Turn the router, iPad and printer off
    2. Turn on the router and then wait 30 seconds
    3. Turn on printer and then wait 30 seconds
    4. Turn on your iPad and test print.

    habe gerade mountain lion installiert jetzt kann ich keine Mails mehr versenden. Es kommt immer die Meldung " offline " was nicht stimmt da ich mails empfangen kann.

    Bei mir tritt das gleiche Problem auf, aber nur mit 2 POP-Accounts von meiner Webseite. Diese funktionierten anfangs (ca. 1 Tag), nun erscheint das Offline-Symbol und will nicht mehr weg. GMail, Hotmail und Exchange funktionieren problemlos.
    Ich habe ML am ersten Tag heruntergeladen und über Lion gebügelt, nun habe ich eine SSD eingebaut und ML komplett frisch installiert und eingerichtet. Das Problem tritt nun erst seit dem fresh install auf.
    Ich habe die Accounts schon mehrmals neu hinzugefügt, danach funktionieren Sie für ein paar Stunden, nachher gehts nicht mehr.

    Thanks Liam. After the second ap download it asked me three security questions on iTunes and on my MAC it allowed me to set up these with no error on the third question. iPAD 3 now downloads apps fine.
    Apple really need to sort out this issue or provide guidance on this. Two days of the unit not really being fit for purpose - what use is an IPAD without the ability to download aps.
    Also NO Response from Apple via online tech support and it's now been nearly 24 hours - I was told by telephone support I would get a response within 24 hours or less, as also stated in the email response too!??
    It would be good to get a formal response from Apple on this rather than radio silence.

  • POP account will not stay online.  Goes offline even after I "take account

    My POP account will not stay online, even when I "take" the account "online" via the mailbox drop-down in the menu bar. I don't think the ISP or the internet connection is the problem as I have three other mailboxes with the same ISP and they all work fine.
    Why might the POP account be failing to hold its online status and what can O do about it.

    Hi, and a warm welcome to the Forums!
    First I'd backup your whole Mail folder.
    Try dragging this file to the Desktop first, then logout/in...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
    Can drag back if it doesn't help.
    If that doesn't work try the .plists in...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/
    In your home folder, try trashing this folder after quitting Mail...
    /Library/Caches/Mail

I am on an iphone 4, verizon.  I tried to do a complete, backup and restore on the phone 1 day before i noticed this problem,  The backup finished but the RESTORE would fail I had an error, could not access Apple server ( some server name I cant remember).
    I have plenty of space available on the iphone,
    8gb free,
    ios version- 6.1.3 ( 10B329)
    carrier - Verizon 14.0
    Modem Firmware - 3.0.04

    I tried doing my backup restore on the same computer as I once did a year ago. and THis time I cant do the restore on the iphone.
    computer osx is 10.5.8
    itunes version 10.
    I do not wish to go to ios 7 at this time.

    Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
    If the issue continues, contact the carrier to troubleshoot the network connectivity issues.

Recently, my Mac Mail keeps requesting the passwords on my accounts every few minutes, and will not allow me to send messages using Mac Mail (the message says that the outgoing server was rejected. I cannot edit the outgoing server, and the keychain will not save my passwords (the ports are valid). How can I change the outgoing server to send emails, and how can I avoid having Mail request my passwords every 2 minutes? Verizon, as usual, will not provide support to iMacs.

    Is there an email saved in your drafts or outbox folder?  I suspect that Mail is continually trying to send it, and each time Google is rejecting the email message.
    You can open the message and then delete it from your Outbox folder.  Then try removing all @gmail email addresses from it and seeing whether you can send to the other folks.  I suspect that will work.
    With email, if an SMTP server *can* verify email addresses, sometimes it will and it will refuse to send messages.  If a message has to be relayed across servers, no verification is done, and you'll get a bounce if an email address is bad.

    It sounds like you might need to contact Yahoo! if you aren't able to setup your email account as a new account after deleting it.
