Mail is putting the word SPAM at the beginning of subject line of messages

Mail is putting the word SPAM at the beginning of subject line of a large percentage of messages in my in box that are not junk. My Mail Junk Preferences don't seem to affect this. Any ideas?

I don't think Mail can actually do that. It might be something being done by the spam filter running on the mail server at your ISP.
If you have access to your mail through webmail or a different mail program, try leaving Apple Mail closed for a while and only reading mail in one of the other ways. If the SPAM word keeps getting tacked on even when Apple Mail is not running, Apple Mail is not the one doing it.

One further question, if I may: in Panther (which is where I've aggregated nearly 7 years of mail), if you copy more than one file in the Finder, switch to Mail, and paste the files into a new message, only the file names paste in. If you copy one file and paste it into a Mail message, you get the file, not just the name. Is that still true, or has that (IMHO) bug been fixed since 10.3.9?

Selecting words in the beginning of a LINE (not a paragraph)

I'm trying to avoid certain combinations to fall at the beginning of any line in a body text.
How do I select a particular character only if it occurs in the beginning of a line (but in the middle of a paragraph.
For instance I want to select the char "a" only if it occurs at the left margin of a column
I only find the location marc "beginning of a paragraph" (^), or beginning of a word, but not the beginning of a line.
It could be as grep, or as a script.
Anybody?

It would need a script. GREP is not aware of the individual lines in a paragraph.
The good news is, InDesign's scripting language is fully aware of lines. There are, on first sight, two possible ways of locating all a's at the start of a line. Either search for all a's (doesn't need a GREP, but you must remember to set caseSensitive in the FindChangePreferences) and loop over them, checking for the ones that are at the start of a line, or check all lines one by one, checking for the ones that start with an 'a'.
Both options seem equally slow I guess what to use depends on your text, and what you'd want to do when one is found. On that note: you must process them from last found to first, because if you change something, it may have an effect on all text that follows.

Indesign adds an anoying space at the beginning of a line

Text supplied to me very very often has the combination:
<tab><bullet><tab>rest of text....
If I select <tab><bullet><tab> and hit delete, Indesign replaces it with a space.
It's very annoying because I then have to delete the space. Who needs a space at the beginning of a line like that!?
Preferences > Autocorrect > [ ] Enable Autocorrect is OFF, so there's no substitution going on (I think).
Can someone offer any insight as to what I need to adjust in my prefs to stop this behaviour.
I'm using Mac OS 10.9 and Indesign 2014

Theway I choose to to fix this kind of problem is to Use Find and Replace. Under Find, insert the text or code that you want deleted. Under Replace, insert NOTHING, then select Change All. If you don'twant to replace all instances use the Find Next to keep the coding or use the Change/Find that will delete the code and find the next instance. I use this method all the time to get rid of the double-spaces that are frequently found in word processing files. You can probably do the same thing in your word processing program.
It may sound complicated but it's really quite easy.

Trying to use GREP to add 2 spaces to the beginning of a line, under a particular circumstance.

I am trying to add 2 blank spaces to the beginning of any line that has a punctuation at the end of that line, followed by a forced line break.
I can get the GREP to find the punctuation at the end of a line with a forced line break:
[[:punct:]](?=\r)
But, is there a way to tell it to now add 2 spaces to the beginning of that line?
Any guidence is greatly appreciated.

If applying a paragraph style works (nice thought!), then finding [[:punct:]]\n and applying the style works fine, no need for the grouping and the lookbehind. But if it's really the case that two spaces need to be inserted, then that's possible only if the text is not formatted at all. Then
find ^.+[[:punct:]]\n
change to \x20\x20$0
will do the trick (\x20 is the space character). If the text does have any formatting, a script is needed.

You could just use "search and replace" with the search string being "\n" (in \codes display) and the replace string as "constant\n". (See attached image).
If the string you want at the beginning of each line is variable (e.g. line number), you should use e.g. "pick line" or "scan strings for tokens" in a loop, then rebuild the new string.

It only affects emails you open from the inbox to read in a new window. Hitting forward or reply or opening a new message to compose still works.

When using mail, I can fill in the address and subject line but cannot get to the body of the email to type.

When using my regular mail, I can hit reply or start a new email and can fill in the address line and the subject line. I cannot get to the body of the email to type my message. The curser will not go there and the keyboard does not pop up. How can I correct this so I can send emails when travelling?

Oh, ok. That changes my answer completely. The problem here is that Shawmail's webmail interface isn't made to work correctly with the iPad. Gmail works because Google made sure it works. You need to contact Shaw and ask them to correct this. In the meantime, set up your Shawmail account in the native Mail app on the iPad. Do this by going to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars and take it from there.

Iam sending a mail with some chinese characters in the subject field..internally these chineese characters are converting in to html unicode format like(主).
the code goes like this :

I didn't understand where iam doing the mistake please give some idea how to do this .....and let know where iam doing worng programming ....

Sending email using CL_BCS in the background with subject line 255 chars

Hello Gurus,
       Following is the sample code,. When I run in the foreground, I am getting the mail, with proper subject line. However my output medium type is '5-'External Send#. When I am trying to run this in my output program, it is resulting in dump.
       When I keep 'COMMIT WORK', I am getting a dump saying tText * Invalid COMMIT WORK in an update function module.*
       When I remove this 'COMMIT WORK', I am still getting the error, saying Screen output without connection to user. (The current ABAP program "SAPLSTXC" statements could not be executed.)
      Hoping for a quick solution.

Try using method SEND instead of SEND_WITHOUT_DIALOG.
Also try calling method SET_SEND_IMMEDIATELY before calling method SEND.

How to make Firefox (Mac) not go back a page upon pressing the Cmd+Left-Combination which should set the text cursor to the beginning of a line in input fields instead of leaving the page?

On a Mac, Cmd+Left places the text cursor to the beginning of the line, Cmd+Right to the end of the line.
FireFox however goes back resp. forward a page in hinstory, which is ''most annoying'', since it very often causes me to accidentally leave a still unsubmitted form and loose all input!
I did not find any possibility to get rid of these dreadful keybindings.

I guess I didn't revert to as far back as the change I had made because when I follow your instructions, no entries are bold.
Or did you perhaps mean the next time the problem occurs I should look for a bold entry? And then change it back to what it was? (All that I recall from a year ago was that I changed one entry from ''true'' to ''false'', or vice versa.)

After creating a document in acrobat and clicking the email icon on the tool bar, Acrobat automatically opens and attaches the document to a new email message in Outlook. It also adds the file name as the subject, then appends "- Adobe Acrobat Professional". How do I remove and/or customize the default subject line appended by Acrobat Pro 8.12?

Hi, I have the same problem as Alan L. Whenever I have a file open in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and click File-> Attach to Email it creates a new Outlook message and attaches the file but does not populate the subject line with the file name. The subject line is blank. I tried to email the same PDF file from Foxit Reader and it correctly populated the subject field with the file name.
If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.
