Mail issn't receiving any e-mail..

Hello,
At first I wan't to excuse myself for my bad english, because i'm not english but dutch.
I have  a few questions about the 'Mail' configuration. I've tried many things and almost everything whats on this site, but I still can't fix it..
At first i've tried to install my @live.nl account. The problem with this account is I CAN'T RECEIVE any e-mails on my macbook air..
Sending an e-mail is no problem, but receiving is! I'm using pop3.live.com as the incoming server but then i get the following troubleshooting:
- (in dutch)     Er is mogelijk een probleem met de mailserver of het netwerk. Controleer de instellingen voor de account 'live.nl' of probeer het opnieuw.
De server heeft een fout geretourneerd: De verbinding met de server 'pop3.live.com' via poort 995 is mislukt (fout 54: Connection reset by peer)
- (in english)   There is a possibility that the mailserver or the internet connection having any problems. Check de configuration for account 'live.nl' or try again.
The server has a fault returned: The connection with the server 'pop3.live.com' trough port(gateway!?) 995 has failed.(fault 54: Connection reset                        by peer)
So it says it has troubles with a port, but what does it need to be.. or is it something else?
With my @hva.nl account is everything i do wrong.. But maybe my school customer service knows it with that one..
Please help me out so I can get the most out of my brand new Macbook Air!
Kind regards,
Robin

Hi Robin!
I have an article here that can help walk you through some troubleshooting steps for this issue. That article can be found here:
OS X Mail: Troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3276
Most likely, you will need to double-check your settings for your incoming server and reapply them, but those two steps are listed among the other troubleshooting steps in the article above. Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

  • Mail will not receive any incoming mail from either of my 5 accounts

I have not been able to receive mail to my leopard mail.app for quite some time now... which is odd, as I can easily receive mail to my iphone on all the same accounts.
I thought at one point it was pgp, but now when I have completely re-installed leopard and manually moved mailboxes over, I still have same problem.
Anybody out there with a similar problem, solution?
    Thanks

    Thank you!
Well that is exactly it, nothing happened... when using connection doctor, it would say something like 'cannot connect to server' or something other, which is odd, since I have had this setup running for ages on all accounts nothing was new.
I could send at times with a long delay, but had not been able to pull down messages for good 2 weeks, and prior to that, it seemed that on some networks I could pull down, but on others I could not. (taking into consideration that I am travelling all the time, and use probably 20 different wifi's pr week)
Anyhows, after browsing the net most of today without finding much of anything, I just figured that my mail folder must just be a tad bloated (well I had more than 16000 sent messages). So I moved all my sent messages to a seperate folder, and deleted all my mail accounts, but kept my mail in folders.
Did a new setup of so far 2 of the email addresses, and they are running fine.
But can mail actually get too bloated, what is the limit?
    Thanks again.

  • I forgot my answer on my security questions , since  yesterday and i didn't receive any e-mail ?

I forgot my answer on my security questions , since  yesterday and i didn't receive any e-mail ?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Start here (change country if necessary) and navigate to 'Password and Security', reset your security questions using the link provided, you will receive an email to your rescue address, use the link in the email and reset your security questions.
If that doesn't help, you don't receive a reset email or you don't have a rescue address, you should contact AppleCare who will initially try to assist you with a reset email or if unsuccessful will pass you to the security team to reset your security questions for you.
If you are in a region that doesn't have international telephone support try contacting Apple through iTunes Store Support.

  • Mail will not receive any messages

As of 9:30 Thursday morning, Mail will not receive any messages. I can still compose and send but incoming messages just sit on Google's server (where I've been reading and replying). Nothing was changed, Connection Doctor shows everything to be fine, I've checked and reentered passwords, quit Mail, restarted the computer, etc.
    Suggestions?

I tried that again, including another shut-down, and based on another link, changingthe"check for new mail" preference from "automatically" to "every 5 minutes."
    No change.

  • AIM mail suddenly not received by mac mail

    Hi-
I have been using my new AIM account on my Mac Mail for about 6 months now with few problems.
The other day Mail decided to not send out any of my AIM mail although it was able to receive them. This lasted for a day and a half and then corrected itself.
Last night Mail is not receiving any of the AIM mail, although it is able to send it out (although VERY slowly). It is still trying to receive mail but cannot as of this morning.
I have checked the Mail settings and they seem fine. Mail is still able to be sent and received without a problem on the AIM mail site.
How can I see if the problem is with Mail, AIM, or even just me?
    Thanks!

I discovered the problem. I had tried to send some photos that made a very large file. Mail tried and tried to send it but I finally stopped it. In the meantime it had copied the 44.1 M email 260 times! I deleted and emptied the trash and now all is well!

  • HT1277 I can't seem to receive any incoming mail from my pop account why is this?

In the past couple  of days I have been unable to recieve any incoming mail, but I'm able to send emails out! There is nothing wrong with my actual server, so I'm not sure what is wrong with my mac.

I'm thinking this is an authentication or port issue. Is this how you set it up?
    http://www.startlogic.com/support/tutorials/view_tutorial.bml?kbid=7958
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

  • I send mail but cannot receive any in Outlook 2007. Is it FF?

Hi all, MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM GREECE!!!
I am a Webnode user and i have created an email account with my domain ([email protected]). I created an account to Outlook Express 2007, setting POP3 and STMP and "...requires authentication..." as i should. I can send email through OE but i can't receive any, even if i ask Webnode to forward mails to another active mail account (e.g Gmail). I delete and rewrite the settings to OE "tool" but nothing happens... Is it something to do with Firefox? My firewall maybe?
I am looking forward for your help because it is a professional email account and it slows down my work!!
Thanks for your help in advance!!

  • Not receiving any new mail

Hi I just recently got a Macbook Pro 15.4 inch, and I've been having trouble receiving mail in the Mail app. When I first got the computer I set up Mail to receive messages from my gmail account. At first it seemed to be working as it started importing my mail, filling up my inbox. Most of the mail was really old so deleted it, and then eventually for whatever reason, Mail just stopped importing messages. Now I can't receive any new messages in Mail no matter how hard I try... Can someone please help? Thanks!

    Hi and welcome
I to had problems with Gmail when i first set it up. What type of mail access do you currently have POP or IMAP. On my gmail account i have it set to POP and i found this always worked, please remember that you have to enable POP on the google gmail server. You have many settings in your mail prefs that can effect your incoming mail also, so its best if you goto the excellent google help for pop Gmail at http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=13275 and try this lot first.

  • Gmail doesn't receive any new mail; mail activity wheel keeps spinning

    Hi all,
I have never had real problems with OSX Mail but since 2 days my Imap gmail account doesn't receive any mails anymore. I already checked the account info several times and they are all ok. Also the connection doctor doesn't detect any problem with either my internet connection or the mail servers I am using. When I use safari to check my mail online, there is no problem. Also, when I use Thunderbird to check the same account (with the same account info) it just works (but I hate Thunderbird!). I use 4 mail accounts, with 2 imap accounts and only the gmail is not working properly. I'm on mail 4.2 and OSX 10.6.2.
I already completely deleted the gmail account and reinstalled it, but the same problem keeps showing up. I also deleted the com.apple.mail.plst and the imap folder in the mail directory but still, after again setting up all my accounts, the gmail account keeps showing the 'fetching new mail' wheel.
I browsed this forum for a solution and found a lot of issues much alike, but not completely the same. Anyway, I hope you have a solution!
    Best regards,
    Jay

I've had similar problems that started about a week about after a system upgrade. I too have tried re-registering/re-indexing mail (by pulling the mail folders out to the desktop). I've run disk utility. I did the permissions first & corrected those, then I did the verify drive (couldn't select repair yet). The drive verification identified several errors & directed I restart on OS X DVD - which I did (after it reinstalled OS X). Then I ran validate drive & it didn't find any issues. However, my mail continues to bog down and give me the spinning wheel. In the past week I have to force quit mail at least 4-5 times a day. The system is only 2 months old & I only have one POP and one IMAP email linked to it. It appears that the IMAP (gmail) is the one causing the problems. I've triple checked the settings (which hadn't changed when the problems started).
I've spent several hours the past week researching all I can in the forums. It appears that this is a common problem with no real solutions.
As a new Mac owner, I'm not impressed so far. I haven't give up hope and it is also possible that it could be due to an unknown error on my part as a novice Mac user. Just the same, though, previous PCs at least lasted more than 2 months.
Like Jay, I hope someone has a solution. Thanks.

  • Not receiving certain e-mails but can receive these e-mails on PC with Windows Mail

Not receiving certain e-mails on iPad but can receive these  e-mails on a P C with Windows Mail

Right-Click (or Ctrl-Click) on any mailbox and choose Get Info (you can also invoke this window by typing Command-I). Now, in the Account menu, choose the account that isn't working properly. Does Mail display all your messages there, even those that it fails to download?
If the answer is yes, don't close the Get Info window yet. I'm going to propose a solution that will cause all your mail still on the server to be re-downloaded again as if it was all new, no matter how old it is or whether Mail had already downloaded it. Hence, before proceeding, you may want to delete any messages still on the server that you don't want to be downloaded again. You can accomplish this in the Get Info window by selecting the messages you want to permanently delete from the server and clicking the Remove From Server button at the bottom right of the Get Info window.
    Now, follow these steps:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. In the Finder, open the HOME/Library/Mail/POP-<account-name>/ folder.
    3. Move any files in that folder whose name starts with MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded to the Trash.
These files keep track of which messages have already been downloaded, so that Mail does not download them again every time it connects to the server. Moving them out of the account folder causes Mail to forget that information and start downloading from scratch all over again.
For some reason, the information in these files can become inaccurate at some point for people with Comcast accounts. I'm not sure it is a file corruption problem. When these files are the problem, Comcast seems to always be involved. I wonder why your wife has not experienced the same problem, though. Maybe she just hasn't yet or maybe Eudora keeps track of downloaded messages using a different technique...
