Mail keeps adding legitimate mail to Junk folder

I have an Exchange account (running on Exchange 2103) set up where Mail keeps kind of randomly putting mail in the Junk folder, even though it's not marked as spam by our server or by the Mail app itself, and I have 'Enable Junk Mail filtering' UN-checked. I know it's the account on this Mac because if I quit Mail, this weird behavior stops.
I have the same account set up on two other Macs, running the same version of the OS and this is not happening.
This behavior started just after I rather agressivley wiped out all traces of my email accounts on this Mac because of other odd issues I was having with this Exchange account (again, ONLY on this one computer).
ANyone have an idea of how to fix this? As this is my main work computer it's a pain to be unable to use email (I can use Outlook or OWA but I'd rather carve emails on stone tablets than use those apps.)

Upon examination of my junk folders, I think that this is happening in my Gmail account as well. Stuff is appearing in there that aren't marked as junk either by the Mac or by Gmail.
Most curiously another Exchange email account (this one running on Exchange 2010, not 2013) is showing no sign of this behavior.

  • Why did Mail randomly start sending emails to junk folder?

My mail app suddenly started sending important emails to my junk folder. I have been using mail on all of my devices for some time and have never changed any settings since I started. With the exception of some emails here and there, I have never had any issue with it. For whatever reason this week it just started sending almost everything to my junk folder. Does anyone know if theres any way I can fix this? It seems to only be my gmail account that this occurs.

This is not working for me either, as of a week or two ago. Junk mail is marked as junk, but stays in my inbox, regardless of my junk mail settings. I have it set to move junk to the junk folder, but Mail simply refuses to do so. I tried changing the setting, closing preferences, opening prefs and changing it back, but that does not help either.
Sadly this is the least of my problems with Mail in Leopard. I've had nothing but problems with it so far and I'm getting really frustrated. I'm running out of patience and ideas and it may simply be time to wipe out all my mailboxes and preferences, reimport all my old mail and start over from scratch again.

  • In iPad 2 will "Mail" remember junk mail (as on my Mac) and send future mails of such automatically to my junk folder?

Thinking about upgrading to iPad 2. On my computer in Mail, the system will remember what emails I send to the junk mail folder; therefore, automatically sending such emails to the junk folder for me. I love this feature. In iPad 1, this feature does not exist. Does it exist in iPad 2 Mail? Or will it in iPad 3?

It does not exist in the Mail app on the iPad 2, which is the same iOS/app as on the first gen iPad; the iPad 3 does not exist and no-one on here will know what it may be able to do until if/when it is announced by Apple. There is no junk mail setting/filtering on the iPad, it needs to be done on your email provider before it reaches the iPad.

  • Outgoing mail to friends sometimes goes to Junk folder when I use a link in

Some of my emails end up in friends Junk folder. My signature has a link to my site, and that might be the reason. Is there a way to keep the link in the signature?

Normally, Firefox has no problem with target="_blank". I wonder whether you are getting some interference from a particularly aggressive add-on pop-up blocker? You could try disabling ALL nonessential extensions and see whether that resolves it.
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions category
    Any difference?

  • I am using Yosemite.  I have spam e-mail showing up continuously in my junk folder.  (same ones I deleted)  What can I do to resolve this matter?

I have an i-mac and using Yosemite.  (1) spam e-mails keep returning after being deleted.
                                                                (2) my canon P-208 document scanner will not perform.  Canon does not have a compatible driver on their site.
How can I resolve these issues?

The scanner works fine with mountain lion but when downloaded yosemite it opens but will not continue to perform -- cuts out. yosemite is  10.10.  believe the scanner is 10.7.

  • What is the process for getting my host e-mail settings added to Mail Assistant?

Can someone point me in the right direction?  My understanding is that Mail.app's auto-account detection process grabs e-mail account settings from a database managed by Apple, not from public DNS.  If that is correct, what would be the process by which I could submit the e-mail account settings associated with my domain, so that both Mail.app's auto-account detection and Mail Assistant (the web tool) will populate the settings correctly?
    Thanks,
    Jeff Cohen

Are you trying to create the account in Mail or import mailboxes? Doing what you did won't create an account, it'll just try to import a mailbox. To create an AOL account in Mail, see:

  • Mail keeps making new mail sounds for emails I get that dont trigger notifications.

I want to have the noise happen, but only if it also triggers a notification. I have plenty of rules that shunt emails off to various folders, but the messages that go to main inbox make a notification, and the others dont.
tl;dr -> notification iff sound for new mail

So now everything is working again all one its own on my computer and the icloud page but not on my phone.

  • Most Mail is Going To Junk Folder... Even From Apple. Any Thoughts?

I feel like maybe I'm missing something obvious, but anyone know why much of my mail is going directly into my junk folder? I have three .mac accounts and even mail sent from one to the other goes into my junk folder. Also the weekly iTunes update just ended up there. Huh?
The other issue I have is that I can't find a way to mark anything that ends up in junk as "not junk". It only offers "mark as junk" even if I right click.

Anyone...? No one else has noticed this? Any help appreciated but I can't imagine that I'm the ONLY one that is dealing with this. I got home tonight to find 3 Emails from various airlines & travel agents (all of which I have received a million times before) that ended up in my junk folder. Most of my mail from friends still goes to my inbox, but it's looking like darn near anything that isn't a personalized Email ends up in my junk. Help...?!

  • All mail going in Junk folder

Since upgrading to Mavericks all my mail is going straight into my Junk folder apart from a trial email I sent to myself. It seems that it is not recognising genuine mail sent from anyone other than people in my contacts.
Has anyone any idea how I can change this from happening?

Have you made any changes to the junk filter in Preferences > Junk Mail > Advanced? Try this:
    1. Go to Preferences > Junk Mail, disable junk mail filtering, then enable it again. This resets the rule that governs what the junk filter does.
    2. Choose either Training or Automatic mode (it doesn’t matter) and leave the other options checked. Click Advanced to see how the junk filter rule is defined now if you want, but don’t touch anything there.
    3. Reset the junk filter database (Preferences > Junk Mail > Reset).

  • Mail: Yosemite 10.10.2 -- more iCloud mail sent to junk folder?

I just upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.2 and noticed a lot of my iCloud account mail is now going to the junk folder, not my inbox. These are messages that I consider OK. In the past, my iCloud emails were generally sent to the correct folders ...
    Anyone else noticing this?

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partitiion & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Permissions.
    Re-install if that doesn't work.

  • Mail Going to Junk Folder that is Not Junk

I have mail that is going to my junk folder that is not junk.  When I look at the "thumb" symbol for the mail, the thumb is down, meaning that it doesn't think it is junk either.  Even when I turn my "Enable Junk Mail Filtering" off in Preferences, the mail still goes to junk.  No idea how to fix this.  It seems like a glitch!

Thank you Nubz N. and BobHarris for your feedback on the issue.  I had actually already tried resetting my junk settings in Apple Mail and had no success, and trust me BobHarris, I was not using the Junk key as the delete key.
It turned out that I had to go directly to the email source's website, which in this case was Gmail, and change my junk settings there.  Apple Mail was perceiving the incoming mail as "Not Junk", but because Gmail was viewing it as junk, it was still going to my Apple Mail junk folder.  I'm not sure why Gmail was viewing it as junk, as I had never clicked junk before.  Anyway, after changing the junk settings there at Gmail, the filter has now been working properly again.

  • Junk Mail won't move to Junk folder after training+switching to automatic

After training for months, I switched my preferences to automatic and now my existing junk mail doesn't move to the junk folder.
    Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Same problem here - also using an IMAP account. Junk mail is labeled correctly but does not move automatically to the junk folder even though the option to do that is enabled in preferences.

  • Junk mail not automatically moved to Junk folder

    Hello.
I'm using an IMAP account and have configured Mail to move junk mail to the chosen junk mail folder (junk is not filtered on the server but on my client). Since the junk mail filter is still learning sometimes junk mail is not detected and still goes to the inbox. That's okay.
If I then select that message it is somehow miraculously detected and marked as junk. However, it is not automatically moved to the junk folder but remains in the inbox marked as junk?
Is this desired behaviour? Why is the mail not automatically moved to the junk folder, like it is when I manually mark a mail as junk?
    Thanks in advance

I just happened to notice that even mail that is automatically marked as spam/junk remains in my inbox. So I open the inbox folder and there is message that is marked as junk. Only when I manually reset and set the junk status is the message moved to the junk folder.
This seems to be the case in an IMAP acount where all folders (sent, drafts, spam, etc.) are subfolders of the actual inbox folder.
Is anyone else experiencing this behaviour?
    Thanks in advance

  • How do I mark things as not junk that end up in my junk folder

Sometimes I get an option right on the email to click "not junk."  However, these items don't seem to have this option.  I don't know how certain emails are pre-determined to go into my junk folder.  However if they some how got in there, it seems there should be a way I can mark them "not junk" for future emails from the same person or from the same group of persons.  Anyone know how to change the setting some how?   Thanks in advance!

I don't know what CurlyMolly's problem is. But I have a problem with an email that keeps ending up in my Junk folder...
"Mail maintains an internal database of information that helps it detect junk mail. When you mark messages as junk or not junk, Mail updates the junk mail database accordingly and your junk mail filter improves over time. If you change your mind about what is junk mail (for example, you want to receive someone’s messages that you previously specified as junk mail), you need to mark them as not junk."
That last part which states to "Mark them as not junk." Well, where is that? Because what is in the top part of my Mail app when I have that message selected while in the Junk folder is "Mark this as Junk". Fact is, I have a rule set up for messages from the senders email address to be moved to a specific folder. I actually have dozens of rules with emails being moved/copied here and there. This one email is my only problem child.

  • Where is my junk folder?

I am using OS 10.7.5 and can't find my junk folder. I know there is an automated system that I inform over time about what I think shoud be junk and I have seen emails that were suggested to me to be junk. But I want to check the folder once in a while to make sure that there is nothing in it that should NOT be junk. I do have two email adresses pooled in my mail, one is my me.com the other a gmail account.
    Can anyone help?

Just found the answer in a previous post. In mail preferences select "move emails to junk folder" and the folder appears under "mailboxes" on the left side of the emails. You need to select "show" to see the detailed info there.
