Mail keeps asking me to connect to a mail account.

Mail gives me this message every single time I launch it.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with the mail account, it is simply one of the odd or rare ones.  How can I just make it always accept?
Thanks in advance for your help,
E

  • Since the iOS 8.3 update my iPad keeps asking for my old iTunes password(the account I don't use and can't reset as the e-mail address was hacked) As a result I can't update my apps because it reverts back to asking for my old iTunes password.

Since 8.3 iOS update my iPad keeps asking my old iTunes password for an account I've disabled as my e-mail got hacked. As a result I can't update any of my apps ( I'm missing out on hay day)

Any content is tied to the account that you used to buy/download it - so if you created a new account as opposed to updating the existing one, then you will need to use the old account to download updates to its apps. Can you not update your old account so as to have a new email address on it (e.g. via this page) ?

  • IPad 1st generation keeps asking to be connected to iTunes every time

    Hi,
My 2nd iPad (1st generation) keeps asking to be connected every time it wakes up either from turn off or standby. I am really tired of restoring the same stuff again and again. If I am less lucky that day, Apple logo freezes forever until iPad gets so hot.
Are there any suggestions? I am using latest version of iTunes, tried connecting to Windows PC using different ports and 4 different cables, there are no security conflicts etc or TCP/IP issues.
Shall I return it to Apple? It is only 7 days that I had this delivered. I do not want to worship to this gadget - want to read my stuff, check my emails and all basic stuff. Tired of recovering 2-3 times a day. Waste of my time.
Let me know if you have any suggestions.
    Thanks,

Was searching and trying all kinds of solutions - Apple suggests some very complicated ones as well...
I was not able to connect to my itunes and/or sync because of it...  I found this in another thread and it solved my issues and everything is working for me now...
I found this, easy enough to follow solution that actually worked. in a single user's post in the forums here somewhere.  Can't find it again to say thanks to whoever it was, which prompted me to post it everywhere so everyone else can find it:
(Note: this is for Windows 8, but the solution for other versions is similar - you might need to try a few other folders, but are still looking for "Apple Device" under "Device Manager".)
Connect your iPad/iPhone/iPod to your PC
Go to: Control Panel > Device Manager
    Click on: Portable Devices
Right click on: Apple iPad/iPhone/iPod > Update Driver Software
Choose: Browse my computer for driver software.
    Go to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
Click okay and everything should suddenly work fine again.  (I can't remember if I had to choose "trust" again, but if I did, I only had to do it the once and everything was fixed after that).
    Hope it helps!

  • Iphoto 9.4.3 keep asking me to login to my icloud account

Hi. I just downgraded from OSX 10.9.3 mavericks this way:
    1. Made a clone of the entire disk to an HDD.
    2. Formatted and made clean install of 10.8.5
    3. Moved back the data and reinstall apps cleanly
    4. Used iphoto library manager to rebuild the 9.5 library back into 9.4.3 version.
    The issue:
When trying to turn on photo stream in the 9.4.3 iphoto it keep asking me
To login to my icloud account and the photo stream box won't checked,
Now I tried everything to troubleshoot without success...
iphoto just can't see that im logged into icloud in the prefrences.
All the login logout log as guest didn't help.
    Please any suggestions?
    Thanx

I had some vary bad experiences with 10.8.5 forcing me to reinstall 10.8.4 and restore from a backup... ITerminal was hit with broken Sudo* / dyld messages when unsuccesfully trying to install some programs or run clean up routines... so "upgradint to 10.8.5" is the last thing I'll be doing-... maybe if there is a 10.8.6 and they fix these issues... but otherwise... not a hope in ****!
I have tried signing  in and out several times... FINALLY managed to sign in to Messages with my iCloud Accound (I had pretty mucgh given up on ever being able to,,, simply signed out of both iCloud and Messages on my IPhone and then signed in Fresh... went back yo my MacPro and hey presto...
There are some seriously "iffy" issues with that side of Apple's operations... ICLoud and Mas... a Joke at the best of times...
However...I can live with Aperture... might just drop and forget about IPhoto altogether at this point... just leave it installed and switch Libraries in Aperture if I want ti access the IPhoto Library
*Sudo was virtually not there... had to go into some file and play with variables to try get it back... but there were still issues... and breakages preventing installation of some prgrams... Logitech Mouse drivers for one,,, but by no means the only one,,, so 10.8.5 -  No Chance!

  • E90 Maps keeps asking for Internet Connection

    Hi,
Why does E90 Maps keep asking for internet?
"No Internet connection. Please check your Network settings"
And even if there is Internet connection via wifi and telco's data service, Maps doesn't seem to see it.
How do I stop it from asking?
    Thanks!
And is there a way to tell maps to never show the zooom-in start up animation?Message Edited by kaon on 28-Jul-200703:45 PM

    Hi kaon,
I checked the E90 manual online .. was curious ..
Found out that it can be done !
    Page 54:
To prevent the device from automatically downloading maps through the internet, for example, when you are outside your
home cellular network, select Options > Settings > Network > Use network > Off.

For the N95, if you select to set the Network to 'when need', then the phone will give you a chance to select the access point. Try selecting the right one -- WLAN/ Telco.
Let me know how it goes !

  • Firewall keeps asking if incoming connections are allowed

    Hi all,
Why does the Leopard firewall keep asking me if a application should allow or deny incoming connections for every application that I run? It doesn't happen everytime I ran an application but it happens quite often even for apps that I've already clicked on [Deny]. This is getting really, really annoying. First, why do all apps seem to want to allow incoming connections?
Is there a list of essential Mac OS apps that really need to allow incoming connections? I am not doing and file/printer/connection sharing. And I don't use iChat or any other IM software.
Is there a better software firewall to use with Leopard on my Mac Pro? I have a hardware firewall, a D-Link DIR-655 router, which seems to do quite well. BTW, I have the Mac firewall set to allow specific apps.
    Thanks,
    Steven

I found the answer in another thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6748694
Basically all you have to do is delete iTunes and iPhoto from your firewall access list. OSX already knows how to selectively open the ports for these bundled apps. When you put them onto the firewall access list, something goes wrong and it has to ask for permission every time.

  • Mail keeps asking for password for my imap yahoo account?

I have both a Rogers Yahoo and a Bell email account. The Rogers imap account keeps asking for my password however the password is correctly entered. Help!

There's a long thread on here somewhere about Yahoo constantly requesting the password. Seems to have been going on some time with no real conclusion.
However, I did see a mention somewhere else that a user managed to 'fix' the issue by changing his password so that it had no capital letters in it. Don't know whether this will help in your case, but maybe worth a shot if you pw has any cap letters.
If I can find the link I'll post back.

  • ML keeps asking me to connect to webdav server

I used to have a webdisk account with godaddy, and I use the Go > Connect to Server... option in Finder to access it. I no longer have that account, and I ejected the drive before cancelling it, but now everytime I reboot my Mac it asks me to connect to that server. I can't find a way to stop it, can someone help?
EDIT: Just so you know, I deleted everything from the Connect dialog. Also, there's no drive or apps request at the startup panel. I did had GoDaddy's desktop tools installed, but I used the uninstaller provided by them to remove it before cancelling the account.

  • Why the itunes radio keep asking for internet connection

I recently changed broadband provider and since then whenever i try to access the music store or the radio the app ask for internet connection even when i am online

  • I'm trying to restore a new ipod but it keeps asking me for the passwords of itunes accounts that are not mine.

It is trying to restore my new ipod from the backup cloud, but it keeps asking me for the passwords of three different itunes accounts, two i know are my friends accounts and I don;t even know whoose the third is.  I must have some of their music on my library or something, but it won't backup without these passwords it seems.  Is there a way to get around this?  I have the music in my Itunes library and can listen to it all I want and burn it on cds but I cant get it to go on my ipod without their passwords.  Can i switch it and just have it sync to my computer and not this icloud?  My other ipod didnt ask me for these passwords when I tried to sync it.

If you have music that was purchased on different iTunes accounts than the one you use, then you must provide the password, otherwise the tunes are not considered yours.  You can turn off iCloud and just use the usual USB sync method.  But I wonder whether you'll have the same problem?

  • IPhoto keeps asking to set up Facebook and Flickr accounts

iPhoto keeps asking to set up the Flickr and Facebook accounts. This is despite the fact that i have done so many times. I have tried restarting (thought it was a keychain thing) and removing permissions from the flickr website and then setting up again. But to no avail...
    Can someone help please?

    Hello Somos,
This does sound like a keychain issue.
    I would try the following:
    1.) Remove:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iphoto (there will be more than 1)
    ~/Librry/caches
    2.) Restart computer
3.) If issue persists remove ~/Library/Keychains -- this will remove all saved passwords so don't delete the file
    4.) Restart computer again
5.) If this resolves the issue restore the old Keychains folder and then open Key Chain Access from /Applications/Utilities/ and try repairing keychain.
    Hope that helps.

  • HT1277 Mail keeps asking login credentials for a removed Exchange account

Removing an Exchange account does not seem to be enough to stop Mail from attempting to connect the Exchange server. Every now and then Mail pops up a dialog prompting for login credentials for an Exchange account I have previously removed. This seems to happen very consistently every time I visit the Accounts tab in Settings.
My question is: How do I get rid of whatever little data there is left of the removed Exchange account?

Basically, the fix is to put all your mail passwords in a separate, always-unlocked keychain.
Here is how to do this:
    1) Open keychain access, go to File -> New Keychain. I named mine Mail. Save it in your keychains folder (default), and give it a password.
    2) Right click the new keychain and select "Change Settings for Keychain". Here, uncheck the "Lock after" and the "Lock when sleeping". The latter can be left on if you don't mind re-typing your password every time your computer goes to sleep (can also be more secure if you don't lock your whole machine when sleeping).
    3) Here is the tricky part: you need to find all your mail keys and drag them into the new keychain. Do a search for your mail host or your login username and you might see a list of keys. It will be flagged as an "Internet password", not web form, and when you click on it it should read "imap://your.web.host.tld/" or pop if you use that, and "smtp://your.web.host.tld/" for your outgoing mail. Just drag them all into your Mail keychain, type in your password and click Accept. The keys will stay on the search screen, but clicking on the Mail keychain will confirm that they are in fact moved.
    4) Now lock your primary keychain (the one in bold) and run a test by checking your mail. If no dialog pops up asking for your keychain password then it was a success!

  • Mail keeps asking for a password to a deleted account

I haven't used Mail in a while. The last time was when I was trying out my free MobileMe trial. I just opened Mail, deleted the MobileMe account, and created a gMail one. Now every time Mail checks for new mail it asks me for the MobileMe password, even though the account has been deleted. I have been into the Keychain and deleted anything that looks like it could relate. Any suggestions?

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
Please open System Preferences/MobileMe panel -- what if any references to the prior MobileMe account do you find there?
In Mail Preferences/Accounts/Account Information, click on the arrows beside the name of the Outgoing Server, and choose Edit Server List. Then remove any reference to the SMTP for MobileMe from the list of servers if found there.
