Mail large files

I have a 21 meg PDF I am trying to mail. As soon as I hit send, I get a dialog box telling me that it is 31 megs, and over the 27 meg limit. Where is it getting the extra 10 megs from. I have tried it with NO text, just the attachment, no go.

Hi,
Do you use Adobe Acrobat Professional?
If so ... open the PDF document and go to the menu bar > Advance and select "Optimalisiez PDF" ... save it under a new name (keep the original).
The file reduced in MB's, But I am not sure if this is good enough to sent it by Mail.
Also you can sent via a host server for free.

  • E-mailing large files

my brother is making a website for me. i need to send him images of my artwork via e-mail. i don't want to send them one at a time... that would take forever. i think what i need to do is make a zip file. i figured out how to do that..... i just don't know how to send them. when i go to attach the file i just zipped, i cannot get the file as an option to send. HELP!

The zipped file is not available to choose from when selecting attach to attach the file to a message?
What is the size of the zip file?
All ISPs and email account providers have limits on the overall size of an individual received or sent message. All message attachments must be encoded before being sent which increases the size of the pre-encoded file by 50% or so.
For example, a .Mac account has a 10MB overall message size limit for a received or sent message.
A 5 MB file (pre-encoded) will be roughly 7.5 MB in size due to the required encoding process.

  • Can you share large files on iCloud drive like dropbox?

I am exploring how to use iCloud drive now...and had a basic question.  Can you share large files from it in a similar way as you can with dropbox?  This is a great feature of dropbox...or google drive when mailing large files just doesn't work.
I have a Yosemite beta currently, and it doesn't look like you can do this.
I also was wondering if anyone has figured out how to make an alias of the iCloud drive on the desktop rather than always opening a finder window in order to drop files into iCloud drive....

I am exploring how to use iCloud drive now...and had a basic question.  Can you share large files from it in a similar way as you can with dropbox?
Have a look at the iCloud Drive FAQ:  The file size limit is 15 G:   iCloud Drive FAQ     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT201104
You can store any type of file in iCloud Drive, as long as it's less than 15 GB in size. There's no restriction on file type, so you keep all of your work documents, school projects, presentations, and more up to date across all of your devices. If you make an alias to a folder on iCloud Drive, you can drag it to the Favourites in the Finder sidebar. That is the best I could do.

  • Mail stuck sending large file

I have just sent an email in Mail with a large attachment.  For 2 days my sent icon has been working and no other mails can get sent.  It is not giving me the option to stop sending, or reduce size.  It is just stuck trying to send it.  Help!

    Janet,
Is the message with too large attachment still trying to send?  If so, again quit Mail, but this time, in the Finder, open Home, and while holding down the Option key click on Go in the menubar.  This will allow you to click on Library, then the Mail folder.  Then look in the Mailboxes folder for the Outbox.mbox folder.  Remove it by draggin it to the Desktop (later to the trash, likely).  Now relaunch Mail again.  When you next try to send a normal sized message, Mail will recreate the Outbox.mbox folder.  (Not booted into Lion at the moment, so unable to confirm all of this, but is how it could be done in all other versions of Mail.
Are you trying to put the large file somewhere as a backup, or are you, as I first thought, trying to send it to someone?  File on iCloud are not meant for sharing with others, unlike iDisk.
    More info, please.

  • Can't send Large files in Mail

I am trying to send a 12MB RAW Image file to a Magazine editor, but Mail won't send it. It keeps telling me the server is not responding. Can anyone tell me how I can email large files?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Many internet service providers cap outgoing mail messages around 4 MB. Ask the magazine editor to offer you an FTP server to ftp the data to, and ask them if the FTP server uses passive, active, or SFTP. This cap is to prevent people from sending spam usually.

  • Slow outgoing mail with large file

I have a rather large file thats trying to go thri the outbox.
I can't seem to stop it!
I'm running OS X Lion using iCloud / Safari.
    Looking for advice

Try clicking the window menu item in mail then select activity, you should see the progress of the file upload click on the red stop sign.

  • Oops...mail wont send large file and I cant get it to stop trying.

I was sending a ;large file (116 megs) email to my wife by mistake, thinking the file was the resized images I had. I was sending this via .me account. When I open mail now, my .me account still tries to send the files, and I cant make it stop. Its not in my drafts or outbox, but the cog spins forever on my .me account. I then see a folder which says it is a recovered mail folder and those images are in two emails in that folder. Any help? I just want my .me inbox to recieve mail again and to send mail when I need it to. This has been going on for two days now.

Search using the name of this large file in Spotlight -- anything show up in an unexpected location?
If you click on Window in the menubar, and choose Activity, what does it says is in process?
Quit Mail, and hold down the Shift key while clicking to relaunch Mail -- make any difference?

  • Mailing a large file

I'm trying to email a file of 21MB (it has already been zipped from 35MB) and it keeps bombing out at about 59% when sending.
    Any suggestions?

  • Network speed affected by large file copy operations. Also, why intermittent network outages?

    Hi
I have a couple of issues on our company network.
The first is thate a single large file copy imapcts the entire network and dramatically reduces network speed and the second is that there are periodic outages where file open/close/save operations may appear to hang, and also where programs that rely on
network connectivity e.g. email, appear to hang. It is as though the PC loses it's connection to the network, but the status of the network icon does not change. For the second issue if we wait the program will respond but the wait period can be up to 1min.
The downside of this is that this affects Access databases on our server so that when an 'outage' occurs the Access client cannot recover and hangs permamnently.
We have a Windows Active Directory domain that comprises Windows 2003 R2 (soon to be decommissioned), Windows Server 2008 Standard and Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard domain controllers. There are two member servers: A file server running Windows 2008 Storage
Server and a remote access server (which also runs WSUS) running Windows Server 2012 Standard. The clients comprise about 35 Win7 PC's and 1 Vista PC.
When I copy or move a large file from the 2008 Storage Server to my Win7 client other staff experience massive slowdowns when accessing the network. Recently I was moving several files from the Storage Server to my local drive. The files comprised pairs
(e.g. folo76t5.pmm and folo76t5.pmi), one of which is less than 1MB and the other varies between 1.5 - 1.9GB. I was moving two files at a time so the total file size for each operation was just under 2GB.
While the file move operation was taking place a colleague was trying to open a 36k Excel file. After waiting 3mins he asked me for help. I did some tests and noticed that when I was not copying large files he could open the Excel file immediately. When
I started copying more data from the Storage Server to my local drive it took several minutes before his PC could open the Excel file.
I also noticed on my Win7 client that our email client (Pegasus Mail), which was the only application I had open at the time would hang when the move operation was started and it would take at least a minute for it to start responding.
Ordinarlily we work with many files
Anyone have any suggestions, please? This is something that is affecting all clients. I can't carry out file maintenance on large files during normal work hours if network speed is going to be so badly impacted.
I'm still working on the intermittent network outages (the second issue), but if anyone has any suggestions about what may be causing this I would be grateful if you could share them.
    Thanks

What have you checked for resource usage during one of these copies of a large file?
At a minimum I would check Task Manager>Resource Monitor.  In particular check the disk and network usage.  Also, look at RAM and CPU while the copy is taking place.
What RAID level is there on the file server?
There are many possible areas that could be causing your problem(s).  And it could be more than one thing.  Start by checking these things.  And go from there.
    Hi, JohnB352
Thanks for the suggestions. I have monitored the server and can see that the memory is nearly maxed out with a lot of hard faults (varies between several hundred to several thousand), recorded during normal usage. The Disk and CPU seem normal.
I'm going to replace the RAM and double it up to 12GB.
Thanks! This may help with some other issues we are having. I'll post back after it has been done.
    [Edit]
Forgot to mention: there are 6 drives in the server. 2 for the OS (Mirrored RAID 1) and 4 for the data (Striped RAID 5).

  • Java.io.IOException during large file processing on PI 7.1

    Hello Colleagues,
for a large file scenario on our PI 7.1 System we have to verify with big file size we are able to process over PI.
During handing over the large file (200 MB XML) form the Adapter Frame Work (File Adapter) to the Integration Engine we receive following error:
Transmitting the message to endpoint http://<host>:<port>/sap/xi/engine?type=entry using connection File_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Error transmitting the message over HTTP. Reason: java.io.IOException: Error writing to server.
The message processing stopped and message still lies at Adapter Frame Work. Large files up to 100 MB we are able to process successfully.
Please, could you tell me why this happened and how we are able to solve it?
Because there is not a java.outofmemory exception however a IO exception i think it could be an memory issue?!
    Many thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Jochen

    Hi Jochen,
Indeed the error is IO Error and it is because the Adapter engine was not able to send the message to Integration server. But it happens due to memory/heap size issues.
Look at these thread, they are having the same problem. Please try the remedy measures suggested by them

problem with big file in file-to-proxy scenario
Is there any additional information in Adapter messaging tool.?

  • How do share a very large file?

How do share a very large file?

Do you want to send a GarageBand project or the bounced audio file?  To send an audio file is not critical, but if you want to send the project use "File > Compress" to create a .zip file of the project before you send it.
If you have a Dropbox account,  I'd simply copy the file into the Dropbox "public" folder and mail the link. Right-click the file in the Dropbox, then choose Dropbox > Copy Public Link. This copies an Internet link to your file that you can paste anywhere: emails, instant messages, blogs, etc.

  • How to import Apple Mail archive files in Outlook 2013?

I need to import Apple Mail archived files in Outlook 2013 on Windows, but every time I open the import wizard and reach the file selection step, I cannot select the archived file. It doesn't even show in the dialog box.
I don't know what the issue is. Is it the file size issue as the archive file is large (about 7 GB) or there is any other fault?

If both system are using the IMAP mail provider all you have to do is setup the connection to the mail server and all the emails and folders will be copied down to the windows computer. That is what IMAP is for. The mail stays on the server, and can be store
on the local computer also, and when you connect to the server with another device, computer, phone or pad, all the mail with folders gets copied to the other device.
But I think some of your mail was gotten using POP so it is not longer on the server.
Or you have emails in local folder only and they would be on the server. But you can create folder on the server in one mail program, or on the mail web interface and then copy those emails into those folder on the server byt copying them in one of the email
programs. Then when you log on with the other device all of them will be downloaded to the other device.
Other alternative:- You can find various solutions on having a google search
for your problem. Or you can have a look at the following link: Apple mail to Outlook Windows

  • Mail.que file size is rapidly increasing

    Hi Friends,
I am experiencing an issue with Exchange 2013 mail.que file, it consumes available free disk space in 2-3 days, like grows up 30-40Gb in 2-3 days, any way we can manage it? How can I check why it is growing so fast?
    Thanks in Advance...
    Best Regards, Ranjit Singh

    Hi Ranjit,
    Thank you for your question.
Based on my research, the causes can be:
    1.Pipeline tracking log is enabled and it takes some space;
    2.Large MaxDumpsterSizePerStorageGroup limitation.
To troubleshoot the issue, we can take the following steps.
    1. Disable the Pipeline tracking log if you do not need it
        a. Check if Pipeline Tracing enabled by command:
         Get-TransportServer | FL name,*pipeline*
        b. If enabled, please use the following command to disable it
        Set-TransportServer “Server Name” -PipelineTracingEnabled $False
    2. Reset the MaxDumpsterSizePerStorageGroup limitation
        a. Run “Get-TransportConfig” and ensure the following
MaxDumpsterSizePerStorageGroup is in MB’s and not GB’s
        MaxDumpsterTime : 7.00:00:00
        b. If not, we run the following command to modify:
        Set-TransportConfig -MaxDumpsterSizePerStorageGroup <size> -MaxDumpsterTime    <timespan>
    3. If it still does not work, we can manually reset the Mail.que and then monitor if it is still increasing:
        a. Stop Transport service on the server.
        b. Move the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\data\Queue to other place.
        c. Start the Transport service on the server.
        d. If there is no related issue, just delete the previous Queue folder.
        e. Monitor the new Queue folder size.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,
    Jim

    > SAP limitations is up to 2MB of attached file.
NO! (or maybe you mean that you have configured 2MB in your SAP system?)
At SAP side, there are these parameters (SM30 SXPARAMS):
    - Parameter MAXLEN_MIME_MESSAGE_SMTP is used to limit the whole email size (cf note 1171138 - Size restriction for outbound e-mails)
    - Parameter MAXLEN_BODYPART_SMTP is used to limit the size of a part, i.e. an attachment (cf note 837300 - Size restriction when sending documents). There can also be MAXLEN_BODYPART_*_SMTP where * is the SO object type (RAW, ALI, SCR, etc.)
It's probably a limitation in the configuration of your own SMTP mail server.
Contact SAP support if you think there's an issue within SAP.
