Mail Merge using data from Numbers for iPad

Here is my situation:
I use Numbers for iPad to collect data on-site when I'm doing estimates. I then download the data from iCloud to Numbers on my laptop and complete the estimates. I would then like to be able to merge the data into a proposal template I've created in Pages.
The issue seems to be that Numbers for iPad removes header rows but Pages won't accept a Numbers document as a merge source unless it has header rows.
Has anyone found a workaround for this?

I was using Excel and Word for my small business. Then in 2007 I upgraded the whole office to Apple, began using Numbers for basic invoicing. Back then, the solution I found was to use CSV export to InDesign. A few days back I downloaded the 09 tryout and thought using mail merge would be easy.
I get the false populating too: I assume it comes from empty records, as they do not overwrite field names. Somehow I don't think I'm going to go through 2 years of accounting records to reformat my spreadsheet, just so Pages can correctly work with data that is in fact correctly formatted.
Also, there must be an option with the mail merge feature to choose which records I want to merge?!? The current solution (duplicating and erasing unwanted ones) is ridiculous, hiding unwanted rows in Numbers also doesn't work.
As most of the new features in iWork 09 are cosmetic, this one would have been a reason to use iWork as a real office suite. Pity - not really worth the update.

Using Forms in Numbers for iPad

Although Forms for the iPad may seem to be a great interface between the user and the spreadsheet, it has a few significant drawbacks under it's present design.
When using predefined records and catagories to prompt a user for input, one runs into problems when the user inadvertantly presses the delete key (within the form). This would delete a predefined record and thus rendering it usesless for any further input, and subsequent deletions would eventually delete all the predefined records.
As a workaround I re-arranged the input table to have one record only, using the categories (table columns) to input the relevant information via Pop-up Menus. Although this single record remains after pushing the delete button, the information within the record is somehow corupted, causing reference problems down the line. For instance, using the content of these records with the VLOOKUP function to find data within other tables, a #REF! error is caused because the relevant record was corrupted.
How could I disable the delete key within Forms, or alternatively save the data from deletion within the records?
Is there perhaps a way of error trapping within VLOOKUP ?
As an alternative, I tried a normal table to input the user information, and where I used Pop-up Menus it's was fine, but when inputing numeric values it would be a pain for the user to have to double tap with every numeric input. I would prefer to use Forms if possible.

Dates in numbers for iPad 2

I have see many complaints about Numbers for IPad not being able to handle dates very well, especially when in porting an Excel sheet. Is this a problem ?

Your friend was close, but forgot one thing. If you want it to be blank if either cell is MT, then you need an OR as well o test if either one or the other is blank...
=IF(OR(ISBLANK(a1),ISBLANK(b1)),"",a1xb1)
The isblank can also be represetned by ="" in many cases, usually accompanied with a trim to make sure there are no spaces were entered...
=IF(OR(TRIM(a1)="",TRIM(b1)="")),"",a1xb1)

Using Voiceover in Numbers for iPad

I am a blind iPad Mini user looking for the correct gestures for using the Numbers App with VoiceOver. I am not understanding how to navigate the spreadsheets or make changes in them. Does anyone know of a good resource for this? All the ones I have found online are not specific to the Numbers App.

I use Numbers for my estimating program for my business and would like to be able to send my proposals directly from Numbers. Is there a way to email only one worksheet from a numbers file? Is there a way to print to a pdf from the print screen?

you could try the writepdf app which converts files to pdf format and prints from the ipad

I am working on creation of smartform and using the default print program ZRLB_INVOICE.
The code which I am seeing now was written by one of my colleague.
He used table VBRP to fetch the details of KZWI1, KZWI2 and KZWI3 which I will be used to calclaute certain type of pricing for different line items.
But i found that if we use is_bil_invoice-IT_PRICE[1] to get the same details instead of fetching the details from VBRP.

is_bil_invoice-IT_PRICE[1]-KZWI3.
I am just wondering if its ok to use above because it had [1] in that. I am wondering what is it ?

How to insert data from Numbers to Pages?

I want to use data from Numbers to insert in Pages. The same as Word and Excel can connect. When it works you can make 1 letter, and after connecting it correctly with Numbers you can make ten, hundred, thousand ... letters, all of them personalized. Who can help me? The manuals can't.

You are talking about Mail Merge.
Pages '09 did this with data from Numbers and from Address Book/Contents.
Apple removed this from Pages along with over 100 other features, but in Pages 5.5.1 it has now become possible to work around the limitation with some AppleScripting. So Apple has done what Apple does best these days, it takes something that was relatively simple and worked and turns into something complicated if not impossible, usually undocumented, and says they have simplified it.
Frankly it is not worth the time it takes trying to fix everything that is broken, there is just too much and it is constantly being reshuffled by Apple. Just stick with what you know or use LibreOffice [free] which has all this built in.

When using spreadsheets in numbers for iPad,can I change the background color of the screen while leaving the table white.I want to have a few tables on one spreadsheet and leave the the tables white.Can I do this and change the screen color surrounding the table?

In Numbers '09 the Sheet is white (period), You can, however, place a coloured shape on the Sheet, and apply your desired fill colou to that shap, then ruse the Arrange menu to Move it to the Back, then resize it and position it as needed to fill the background.

No, iOS does not do short term incremental back ups to iCloud such as you get with Time Capsule.It backs up when you do soo manually, or if set properly, when the device is plugged in and connected to WiFi. It will not have saved your changes as of 10 minutes prior.

Restore from the iCloud backup - assuming that you were backing up to iCloud in the first place. If you weren't using iCloud for backup - then you are out of luck.
If you were backing up to iCloud - you have to erase all contents on the iPad in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings - before you can restore from the iCloud backup.

If you're asking about sending an image of a single sheet from Numbers '09 (a Mac application), yes, it's possible. Show the sheet, press command-P to open the Print dialogue, then click PDF and choose Email PDF. The Mac will open a new email message with the pdf image of your sheet attached in your default email client, ready to be addressed and sent.
If you're asking about sending something from Numbers for the iPad (an iOS application), your question will be better served by someone familiar with that application. Numbers for the iPad has its own forum in the iPad section of Discussions. The link will take you directly to that forum.

Yes. Air runs OS X, iPad and iPhone run iOS - different operating systems
that required different versions of Pages, Numbers, & Keynote to run. Like
the iOS version, once you purchase the version for your Air, you may install
it on as many OS X desktops/laptops that you own.

Hi Rodrigo,
Firstly, list the Standard component under Component Usage of the Component which you are creating in your View.
Second, In the Custom Component, view, goto context, and try to add the node from the Standard component in to your view.
NOTE: The second step requires a Node in component controller of the Standard Component.
Finally, Now in your view, get the data from that and map the data.
NOTE: To do this, I think you need to call your Standard WDA first and then only your node contains data and it will be passed.

Numbers for ipad: interpolate or estimate?

Does numbers for ipad interpolate or estimate values when pulling information from a table and the value is between entries on the table?

Conditional formatting does work in Numbers for both iPad and iPhone, but it involves using MS Excel. Either copy or create your spreadsheet into Excel and create your desired conditional formatting. Then transfer the spreadsheet to either iCloud Numbers or e-mail it to yourself and open it in Numbers on your mobile device. The formatting doesn't completely work in the iCloud Numbers Beta version yet (read further), but it will work in the latest version of Numbers on iPad and iPhone. Here's where it gets interesting: Even though iCloud Numbers Beta doesn't "show" the new cell formatting based on the data within, rest assured the conditional formatting is working in the background. To prove it, make your data updates in iCloud Numbers Beta then open the spreadsheet on your mobile device to see the new formatting. And, even more interesting: The snap shot of the spreadsheet in iCloud Numbers Beta will show the proper cell formatting! So there's definitely something happening on the Numbers Beta server that isn't ported to the iCloud App yet.
I'm using this method right now to track engineering drawing releases through our detailing group.
