Mail message font

Mail 8.0
Mail application will not allow me to compose an email in Nitti Light 16.0 even though I've set the 'message font' and 'fixed width font' preferences to this font. Instead, when composing an email, Nitti Normal 16.0 is automatically used. By taking the extra steps of selecting the email's text then Formatt>Show Fonts and selecting 'Light', the email displays as wanted. But it seems like if the message font preferences are set to Nitti Light 16.0 then that's what should be the 'default' message font setting. After trying different iterations, Mail seems to accept only the font family 'message font' preference and not the typeface preference, is there a way to fix this?
Thanks, MPS

  • How do I set up minimum font size for mail messages in iPod touch 5G?

    According to the iPod touch User Guide for iOS 6:
    Set the minimum mail message font size: Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Minimum Font Size
    But in "Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars" I don't see the "Minimum Font Size" option.
    Thank you in advance!

    Look under Settings > General > Accessibility > Large Text

  • How do i change the font color in mail message

    I am trying to change the Font colour in Mail message to Blue as a permanent preference in Mail - Preferences. The system does not accept the settings and goes back to black. Is there a way to change the same.

    The color of the font is determined by the recipient's email client. So you could change it, but it would depend on the recipient's settings.
    And besides, blue is harder to read.

  • Math fonts don't display in mail messages?

    For some reason when I receive a mail message with math - fractions, equations, etc. these characters don't display.  My husband has an iPhone 4 and this isn't a problem on his phone.  I am wondering how I can get these characters to display?
    Thanks

    Hi markatos
    Hi Rick Van Vliet
    I have the same problem, and I can also (only) underline text.
    Since upgrading to Tiger (10.4.8) from Panther 10.3.9, I have experienced a few daft functional problems, eg the 'Enter' key not working on the calculator (the standard one, not the Dashboard version). This turned out to be a '.plist' problem.
    Mail was marking all outgoing mail as 'Junk' ... '.plist' problem again.
    But I cannot see how to sort this one ... at the moment I am having to format text on a Stickie then paste it into a Mail message in order to do simple things like bold headings (I don't need any more than this really). So the 'Font' palette is working. Message format is set to 'Rich Text'.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Help will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • In Mail 7.3 on my Retina MacBook Pro on OS 10.9.4, how can I type from the keyboard into a mail message using the Apple Symbols font?

    In Mail 7.3 on my Retina MacBook Pro on OS 10.9.4, how can I type from the keyboard into a mail message using the Apple Symbols font?
    When I select the Apple Symbols font from the list accessed from under Format/"Show fonts"/collection-all fonts/Apple Symbol, and then continue typing, I get normal letters, if in a slightly different font.
    How can I type using the Apple Symbol font?  I want to use that font to include keyboard and cursor selections of actual screen symbols to help write easily understood explicit computer lesson emails to my 92 year-old mom from a few hundred miles away.

    I found this plugin which solved pretty much all of my mail font rendering problems.  It is designed for Lion, so don't know whether it will work but thought I would offer it up.

  • Apple Mail Message List Font in Mavericks

    Hi all,
    Is there a way to increase the size of the Apple Mail Message List Font in Mavericks when *NOT* in classic mode?
    - the parameters seem to have no effect in this mode

    Turns out that there is no way to change this unless uing the classic mailbox... We're stuck with the default setup on the new style.

  • How do I increase the size of the font for everything on my screen, not just mail messages?

    How do I increase the font size throughout, not just in mail messages? Thank you.

    Thank you, Lee, I appreciate your response, albeit the answer is disappointing. I will go into some of the applications, as you suggest, and give it a try. Thanks again!

  • E-mail messages print font too small display font too big

    I recently upgraded to OSX 10.4.9 and tried to print an e-mail message.
    The message printed in microscopic sized font and I followed the suggestions on the HELP section about increasing font size.
    With display font set at 24 the printed message is just barely readable. However, this is unacceptable for display purposes and actually still too small for printed copies of the message.
    I connect to an Epson CX4600 printer as a network device on my Apple AirPort Extreme card.
    What can I do to print acceptable copies and not have to tinker with the display font every time I want to print?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Printer Epson 4600

    I tried all the options in Help File in Mail Printing Email Messages
    Options were "keep the same apparentfont size" didn't change a thing.
    Scale message to fit = result was smaller size font,
    Rewrap message to fit, didn't change a thing.
    I still can't print out a readable copy of the email.
    This particular Email wouldn't even copy correctly into Word so that I could adjust it there, it kept getting cut off and I changing the margin tabs didn't help either.

  • Mavericks Mail Message List Font Chopped Off

    Has anyone seen this?
    After upgrading to Mavericks my friend now sees his Mail Message List rather limited.  My question concerns the "From" text line and the "Subject" text line that appears chopped off in the screenshot shown above (I've blurred a portion of the addresses, and those messages really have "no content").
    Any idea as to what would be causing this?  The text font appears oversized and not in alignment with the date but I don't know how to fix it.
    Thanks

    Problem solved.
    TinkerTool was installed and was configured with large text fonts.  Changed font size back down to size 12 and everything now looks normal.

  • Can no longer change fonts in Mail messages

    All of the sudden (within the last couple of days), I find I can no longer change the font - or even the style (bold, italic) of any new mail message. I can change the color, but that's about it. The font stays as whatever the default Message Font is. I did try changing the default to verify it was not a font corruption issue.
    I don't think it's a font panel issue since I can change Fonts, Styles, etc. in other apps that use the Font Panel.
    Anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks up front.

    Some more tests .. it's definitely not the app itself .. I booted from my external .. and I launched the Mail app on my main .. and it worked fine (of course, all my accounts, etc weren't there) .. so you're right .. it's either a prefs thing (though not the "com.apple.mail.plist" file since opening a brand new user still has the same problem).. or maybe even a corrupt .pkg file in Receipts .. wait a sec .. replaced the Mail.pkg file just to check .. still nope. So it's gotta be something low level.
    At this point, I'm thinking what may be easier on both of us is ... I'm waiting for the Apple Box Set (Leopard/iLife 09/iWork 09) to start shipping before I upgrade .. that should be pretty soon .. so I'll just hand on till then (it's really not all that big a deal I guess in the big picture .. just irritating) .. and see if upgrading corrects the issue .. if not, then I guess I'm off bug hunting again.
    Again .. thanks ever so much for your time and effort.
    I'll post back here with the results either way.

  • Mail & Contacts: "Italic" doesn't work on default message font

    On Mail Preferences/Fonts and colours I set the default message font as a Calibri Italic 15.
    Now, the problem is that opening a new message I get Calibri 15 BUT NOT Italic. I have to make it manually...
    Does anyone know why this happens and the way to solve this issue?
    Thanks

    There is a way around this (thanks to apple for responding to my bug submission) but it's slow. Test to see if the glyphCode created is greater than zero or not:
    final FontRenderContext fontRenderContext = new FontRenderContext(null, false, false);
    char[] array = new char[1];
    array[0] = (char) intvalueofchar;
    GlyphVector glyphVector = glyphFont.createGlyphVector(fontRenderContext, array);
    int glyphCode = glyphVector.getGlyphCode(0);
    boolean validchar = (glyphCode > 0);I only need to do this on the mac; on windows it does the right thing without this. If anyone has any suggestions for speeding it up (I already have it running in a thread), that'd be great - but thought I'd post it here for anyone else who might run into the same problem some day.
