Mail/Mountain Lion Reply Time/Date line

When Replying in Mail/Mountain Lion, I don't want to see the time/date line at the top at all. How can I get rid of it?
Thanks,
Lew Buckley

Yes I am and for good reason.
You have never elaborated on those reasons.
Have you ever looked at all the posts on these forums about Mac Mail? More then for any other Mail program on any other forum
You should know better than to extrapolate conclusions from such questionable sources. Data on troubleshooting forums is always biased towards trouble, so you have no data about the ratio of people having trouble to people not having trouble. Further, comparing to other forums is similarly meaningless. Mail is the default e-mail client on the Mac, and will have a much higher portion of the market share than Thunderbird. So of course it will have more complaints, because more people are using it.
If you have concrete reasons to constantly bash Mail, rather than hearsay and unscientific "data," I'm all ears.
Don't waste your time Tom, this Shootist guy is not actually capable of answering anything put to him, eg: see below.

  • How long is the "OS X Mountain Lion Up-To-Date Program" response time?

I submitted the information about my recently purchased laptop to the uptodate page http://www.apple.com/ca/osx/uptodate/ earlier in the day but haven't recieved any notifications (not even an email saying that the information has been recieved). I've heard that other people have gotten codes so I assume it shouldn't take this long. Should I just resubmit again?

Thanks. Is it odd that I haven't recieved any sort of confirmation email to indicate that the request is pending, or is one not sent out?
Servers are slammed.  Your email is the least of the problems.

  • Mountain Lion creates Time Machine problem

    Hello,
Since upgrading to Mountain Lion whenever Time Machine attempts to backup to my Time Capsule I get this error message:
"The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data/(user)'s Mac Book Pro 2.sparsebundle” is already in use."
The Time Capsule firmware was updated a couple of weeks ago to supposedly make it ML compatible.
Anyone KNOW how to fix this or is it a bug?
    James

You will not lose any of your backups.  You just need to disconnect the drive and reconnect it.
Open time Machine preferences and click on Select Disk.  Select the disk that you use as it should be listed at the top of the window.  Click Remove Disk.  this will remove the disk that you are currently set to use for backups, but leave all the data on the drive.  You can then click on select disk again and select the volume that you want to send your backups to and it should then run correctly.

  • OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date-program Delay?

So I went to the "OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date-program" page and entered my serial number and got the message that I would receive an e-mail when it had been verified.
It has now been more than 30 minutes, which makes me fear that the verification process is manual and I might have to wait long before getting my code.
Does anybody have any insights into this?

A lot of pepople get their codes allmost instantly, in a few mins, but after they got a this code has benne already claimed error message in the store. You can find more info here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4134733?tstart=0

  • Enrolled for OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date programme; password incorrect in received PDF-file.

    Dear Apple Support,
Recently I enrolled for the OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date programme. I was issued two emails afterwards: 1 containing a PDF-file with my redemption code for ML download through the AppStore, the other email containing a password to open the PDF-file. I've tried it several times, but the PDF-file keeps telling me the provided password is incorrect.
Could you please send me a new PDF-file with a password that works?
    Regards, Mariana, The Netherlands

    Thanks for the tip Bandit.
I wonder if there are other users with the same problem though.

  • Recover OSX Mountain Lion using Time Machine Backup

    Hi,
Can anyone help me to recover OSX  Mountain Lion using TIme Machine backup as i accidently corrupted the recovery HD and the Macintosh Drive?
    Regards,
    Sanil

As Linc stated, you can boot from your Time Machine backup of OS X Mountain Lion.
Restart your machine and hold down the Option key. Select the Time Machine backup drive to boot from. When it boots into the TM drive you will get the same OS X Utilities screen like in the recovery HD. You can use Disk Utilities to erase your Macintosh HD then restore your Mac OS X from Time Machine.

  • What number should I put in "Number of Qualifying system for right to copy" in OS mountain lion up-to-date program form?

what number should I put in "Number of Qualifying system for right to copy" in OS mountain lion up-to-date program form? I'm a newbie on mac, just bought MBA two weeks ago. I've tried software update but it is not upgraded to mountain lion. what should I do to upgrade for free?

    I'm on the page "https://uptodate.apple.com/UtdPrepareAction?program=Mountain%20Lion&locale=en_au"
and I still have the same question as the original poster, what number should I enter into the field:
"Number of qualifying systems".. cause "1" doesn't do it.. and the other numbers don't work... >:___:<

  • Problem with OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date program

I have redeemed the OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date program via Apple App Store. However, I am unable to download the program and my Mac still running on the previous version. Please advise.

No idea why it's so slow, that link works here & clicking on the Mountain Lion link takes me to the "Upload a proof of purchase" page.
Did you enter the data there?

  • After installing Mountain Lion, my Time Machine won't back up ... says the sparsebundle is in use

After installing Mountain Lion, my Time Machine won't back up ... says the sparsebundle is in use

Standard problem in ML.. apple do not seem to want to recognise.
Reboot the TC .. if that fails restart the whole network in correct order.. modem.. router/TC... clients.. with 2min gap.
There are other suggestions like changing the password.. all they do is the same as reboot.
Read C12.. most quoted Q in pondini website history. This is asked 10 times a day.
    http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html
Here is another way to get a useful utility in ML.. rather than toyland version.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.

  • Mountain Lion installed Time Capsule not seen...

After installing Mountain Lion, my Time Capsule does not exist anymore... I use TC as a router, plugged directely to my MacPro, Mac Mini, and a Wi-Fi network to my 2 MacBookPro. After this instalation, I cannot "see" Time Capsule anymore... my iPhone does not accept my wi-fi... my MacBookPros too...
Please what happened? I cannot even creat a new Wi-Fi, because at the system preferences, network, it is no longer there (wi-fi)
The internet itself is working, I do not know how, because the green light in TC is on, I cannot "see" TC but the internet is there... How is it possible? Time Machine also do not exist...
    Any help will be perfect.
    Thanks in advance

Thank you but I returned the device. I was not aware that it is not possible to use unless it has an internet connection. That is not at all what I had in mind. Have a good year!
Maybe they were using imprecise terminology. Seems to happen a lot.
You can use Time Capsule without any Internet (WAN, or outside) connection. But you can only reach Time Capsule through a network (LAN, or local) connection - Ethernet or wireless. I guess a lot of people need to learn that "the Internet" and "a network" are not the same thing.

  • How can I downgrade my Os x Maverick to Os x mountain lion without time machine

downgrade os x maverick to os x mountain lion without time machine back up and disc

To downgrade you have to have a copy of the Mountain Lion installer, download from the Mac App Store but be sure to go to System Preferences > App Store first and uncheck boxes that will automatically install the download.
You will have to erase the hard drive and then install from a saved copy of the installer, saved to a flash drive for instance.
This is going to be a time consuming exercise, so is there a specific reason for wanting to downgrade?

  • Hostgator POP account configuration in Mail (Mountain Lion)

    Hi,
I have a little problem with configuring a Hostgator POP account in Mail (Mountain Lion).
The following info is from Hostgator:
    Secure SSL/TLS Settings:
    Username: [email protected]
    Password: mypassword
    Incoming Server: gator4113.hostgator.com
    - POP3 Port: 995
    Outgoing Server: gator4113.hostgator.com
    - SMTP Port: 465
Authentication is required for POP3 and SMTP.
I have manually configured the account in Mail, but where shall I enter the
    Incoming Server's Port 995?
At the end of the Advanced Tab I could enter a port (is by default set to 110)
but according to the help file this is ALSO for SENDING messages. (???)
    Thanks for any help!

I tried this, but still no screen appears where I could enter the incoming port.
I found another forum post regarding this question:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6507302 => Csound1 wrote:
"the path you provided (mail>preferences>advanced) allows you to change the incoming port"
I tried it, and it seems to work!
As I wrote in the Mail help they wrote "Specify the port numbers to use to send messages",
BUT at the top, under "Advanced accounts preferences" it says
"Use Advanced accounts preferences to set options related to retrieving messages"!!
So it seems it's really for receiving/incoming mails. (Where else should it be possible to edit that port?)
