Mail new email icon
The new email icon in my dock is telling me I have 10 new mails which aren't there, at present i have no new emails and it says 10, when i get one new email it goes up to 11?
Do you know why it would do this, I thought perhaps it was thinking a draft was an email but i've only got 3 in there not 10.
Double check all your folders and even the junk and sent items boxes as sometimes mail can be marked as unread in there and add to the count in the dock.
Just one more suggestion but it's rather drastic. You could move the Mail folder in /Users/<<UserName>>/Library to the desktop and see if the problem disappears. Moving this folder out will result in you having to set up all your mail accounts again.
Depending on what you have saved in Mail it can be a rather exhaustive process moving all the emails and folders back.

Hi All,
Need your help again.
I have got a "new email" icon on top left hand side (along with number 1 written) & a "red colour star" icon
on my office email messenger, but the thing is I have no unread emails. The count of the unread increases
when I get new emails from office. As I open all the unread emails, this count decreases, but ultimately
stays again at 1, along with "new email" icon & "red colour star" icon.
I have already tried the following (in the same order):
1) I deleted all my office emails from my BB, but still the problem continued
when this did not help,
2) i deleted all the emails from my other BB email messengers (gmail/hotmail)
when this did not help,
3)switched off my BB with the power button,
when this did not help,
4) I took out the battery (with BB on)
when this did not help,
5) called up the service provider, who sent me "service book" for re-configuration, (after I took
out the battery again with BB on)
Now the last option I can think of is, have the office email id removed from my BB & then reconfigure
again.
But is their any other solution.

Go to menu, main message folder, press menu again and view folders
Check in each folder if you have any unread mail.
If not check if you have any saved messages, go to menu, applications, saved messages.

I cannot open the new email icon for 10.6.8 including the latest security update. My old "Stamp" icon email won't let me in either indicating that the new OS version doesn't work. Please help. I have spend over 4 hours installing and reinstalling updates, etc. and I don't know where to go from here.....

Fellow user Grant Bennet-Alder offers this solution:
Some users have reported this problem if the Mail Application has been moved out of the top-level /Applications folder, or duplicated in another location.
When the Security Update is done, the old version of Mail is disabled.
The solution has been to:
1) make certain Mail is in the /Applications folder
2) There is no other copy anywhere else.
3) Once steps 1 and 2 have been done, Manually download and re-apply the Security Update (2012-004) by hand.

If the Mail.app has been LOST, it can be re-installed by applying the 10.6.8 version 1.1 combo update. But this update is quite large and it is usually not necessary:

New email icon on top of screen helppp!!!!
Hey all. I am having a problem getting the new email icon off of the top of my screen! I have no new emails and have deleted any emails on the phone. I have tried taking the battery out for a few minutes and then putting it back in, no change. I've deleted the email accounts off of the phone and battery out, no change. My friend who is more familiar with smart phones checked settings and everything is as it should be. Anyone have any suggestions/solutions to offer? Thanks bunches!!

Nokia 5800XM new email icon stays on, all mail is ...
all software updates installed on the phone
Effectively the subject says it all, the email icon comes on when I connect to my IMAP box and it load the new headers. I then mark all as read, but the icon won't go off before I reboot the phone.
Any ideas?same problem with POP3

Got a strange problem with my 5800. The new email notification icon on the front screen doesn't go away.
Gone into email and connected then deleted all the mail I had, but the icon remains.
Using the latest v31 firmware.
Any ideas how I can get rid of this icon?

Nokia 5800... probably the best Nokia I have ever owned.the only way to work around this annoying issue is to hard reset your phone. read the below carefully and use last option, follow it to your phones specific key assigment.
With all these operations I recommend you TAKE OUT MEMORY CARD and DO A BACK UP OF YOUR STUFF!!!
NOTE: In front of the hash key ( #) there is also a STAR key that people often miss and state that the code does not work.
1.. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data) Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345.
2.*#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working.If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
3. hard reset - hold the following buttons * (star key), 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, /GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. ) For Nokia N97 (unofficial version but works) is SHIFT /SPACE BAR / BACKSPACE while holding the power button. Again do not let go until you see the handshake screen.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.

Yahoo mail new emails freeze with v13.0.1
Since yesterdays (6/20/12) Firefox update to v 13.0.1 I haven't been able to write a new email using Yahoo mail. Symptoms are:
-The autocomplete feature for addresses doesn't work
-It takes a long time ~ 3 minutes with the message "loading attachment updater" for the applet that attaches files to emails to load.
- And then Firefox freezes and I have to use the Apple "force quit" feature to exit Firefox.
Yahoo mails works fine if I use Safari.Hi,

Email Icon when there is no new email
I just belatedly installed the latest blackberry update and after doing so, the "new email" icon appeared at the top of my screen telling me I have two new emails. I didn't have any new emails though and now the icon won't go away. Anyone know what I can do to make the icon go away?

I have two more options one that I wanted to stay away from because It's always a little extreme.
One is to reregister on your Host Routing Table, it never hurts to try and will resolve alot of issues. You can find this in your Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Menu > Register Now.
The very last options is to Backup > Security Wipe > Restore. It's guaranteed to resolve it if it's a device issue, but it's going to take a bit of time and is for the most part annoying with such a small issue.

IPhone will not show new email in folders other than Inbox on Yahoo
Hello,
I have setup Yahoo email account. I have several folders within my yahoo account (15+), now the new email notification ( sound and new email icon ) works only on Inbox, If I have new email in my other folder, iPhone will not notify unless I go inside that folder.
Has anyone seen this problem and is there a workaround ?
I am sorry if I am repeating the Q, I searched here but did not find this Q?

Any ideas how to remove the "new email" icon on the homescreen from my X6?
I've checked and read all emails, and it still won't go away. I'm running Mail for Exchange and Emoze. I've also tried turning the phone off and on again.

Go to Solution.Orange UK Sim cards also used to have an issue with the SMS text icon (envelope) not disappearing as they should with Nokia N series and X series handsets. As I recall, in those cases the best way to resolve the issue was to temporarily install the Sim card into a non-Nokia handset, send yourself a text, let the SMS icon pop up, read the text, delete it, wait for the icon to clear and then put the Sim back in to the X6.
*EDIT* I realise your issue is with emails and not texts but it could stem from a similar cause?

i'm having no real troubles with my n97 which i got first thing this morning. Been playing with it pretty much constant, no real freezes and not had to turn it off or take out the battery at all, however there is one thing that is bugging the hell outta me.
I set up the email for my hotmail account (had the same on my n96 for the past wee while) and when all emails are read, the icon telling me i still have an email is still there on the screen, i click it, and expand where it says 'new e-mail' and still it wont budge?
anyone else have this probem, or indeed a solution?Finally found the solution to this. (Well for Gmail atleast.)
The N97 defines your account settings automatically from the information you give it. However it sets certian parts of the incoming and outgoing connection settings incorrectly.(such as outgoing security and port number) Adjust your N97's settings to these to solve the issue:
Select 'Connection settings' > 'Incoming e-mail.'
Enter your address (including '@gmail.com' or '@your_domain.com') and password.
Select 'SSL/TLS' for your security (ports) and define your port as '993.'
Select 'Back.'
Select 'Outgoing e-mail.'
Enter your email address (including '@gmail.com' or '@your_domain.com') and password.
Select 'StartTLS' for your security (ports) and define your port as '587.'
Select 'Back' and change any other settings according to your preferences.
Send yourself a test email. When you open it, the new email icon should disappear.

The email icon will not disappear even though I have no email....
Can anyone please help me! On my BB Curve 8330, the email notification icon will not disappear. I have no unread emails but it always has a 1and the new email icon showing? Has this happened with anyone else or does anyone know how to fix it?

How do I set up my 4S phone to chime when a new email arrives? Right now, the chime only sounds after I tap the mail icon. I need an alert to check my mail. Comcast mail. Settings for mail set at "fetch new data". Thank you
Try if this works for you
1. Tap Settings on Home Screen
2. Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars
3. Tap on Fetch New Data
4. Turn "Push" to On
5. Back to Mail, Contacts, Calendars again
6. Under "Advanced", make sure that it is set to "Push" for all your mail accounts
Push means the server will literally push the mails to your iPhone whenever there is new mail. Fetch like the word says is where you have to manually update to receive new mail (what you are doing now) -
My hotmail is showing that I have 32 new emails and I do not have any. Can't get the 32 off the mail icon on the home page. Any suggestions?
