Mail not appearing in Trash

Mail was working fine – all the 'deletes' appeared in the Trash where I could double check them before dumping.
Had a few problems importing mailboxes to the new mini (10.4.10) via local network from old G4 (10.3.9), bit of duplication etc.
And suddenly all my deleted mails disappear.
Before you mail it – I've been into Preferences and checked the box, done it, been there, wearing the T-shirt. Nada. I'd re-install, but I have 4 years of important/valuable mails I don't want to lose, so don't want a clean slate.

Under /Library/Mail/Mailboxes I have 2 folders – the first is Deleted Messages and contains 'content_index', 'info.plist', 'mbox', and 'tableofcontents'. These are all Unix files; the second folder is called Deleted Messages.mbox and contains 'info.plist' which is a document.
Actually, a lot of my mailboxes are duplicated here, those with the suffix .mbox contain files, the others are all empty. As I said, I had problems importing from one version of Mail to another.
I also have a double-up of my POP-address in the first column of the Library.

Deleted messages from in box and sent box do not appear in trash

For years deleted messages from my in box and sent box appeared in the trash where I would hold them for a week or two just in case I had to retrieve a message I had deleted. About 6 months ago deleted messages stopped showing up in the trash. What do I do to get deleted messages to once again appear in the trash? I'm no computer geek... please be gentle with any suggestions. Thank You.

While trying to find a solution, I am discovering my mail problem is much deeper than just messages not appearing in the "Sent" mailbox. I have found some of them appearing in the "Trash" mailbox and some appearing there mulitple times, often with my account name in the "TO" field. I'm also finding some unread mail there that should be in the "Junk" mailbox. So it would appear there are many problems with ISO 7 and mail. I have tried deleting and restablishing the account and two complete iPhone restores. Neither helped. What is the biggest puzzle is that on my second iPhone, the one that upgraded without an error, mail is working perfectly well. Has anyone found a solution to any mail problems on ISO 7 devices? If so, please reply.

Deleted Items from External HD Not Appearing in Trash

I have an iomega external hard drive and have had recent issues trying to trash deleted items.
I delete the items and they are removed from the hard drive, but they do not appear in the trash and therefore are unable to be "trashed" so that space is freed up.
I did some research and found that this is most likely an issue with ghost files still present on my external. Through use of the Terminal, I made hidden files appear on my external, but I was unable to re-delete the items that I had previously deleted/was not even able to find the items I had previously deleted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. As mentioned earier, this problem just surfaced.

I am having the exact same problem with my external, which is used as my iTunes library storage.
When I delete things from iTunes, and select "move to trash", the files do not appear in the trash, as they used to.
The trash stays empty (as in, no items are visible, even though I just deleted things).
Oddly enough, after a restart, the files will appear, and thus are able to be trashed.
Obviously, I do not want to have to restart every time to do this.
I looked through the other thread, and nothing helped.
Still looking for some answers!

Mail not appearing as HTML - Mail Adapter

Hello All,
I'm using the mail package in a receiver mail adapter. During mapping I format the content in HTML format, using < > form < and >. Also I set the content type of the mail package to text/html. However when the mail is received, the content of the mail is the html with tags, it does not appear as an html page. When I see the source the file still has the escape characters instead of < and >. But when I save this as an html file and open it, it appears as a web page.
Any thoughts?

HI,Specify whether you want to encode the content of the e-mail message. You have the following options:
·        None
·        base64 (default value)
·        quoted-printable
use quoted-printable
Coding of characters in e-mails that are not contained in the ASCII character set.
The code contains German umlauts and special characters

Items Deleted On External HD Not Appearing In Trash Bin

Hello,
I recently used Araxis Find Duplicate Files to remove some mp3s from my external hard drive (files are not stored in iTunes). After the scan finished, it yielded about 60 GB worth of duplicates. I made sure that the "move to trash bin" option was selected. I hit delete and now the files are no longer in the archived folder, but they also do not appear in the Trash. Stranger yet, the deletions hasn't freed up any additional space either. I have used Data Rescue 3 to try to attempt to locate the deleted and missing files, but it can't find them. Does anyone know what else I can try to find these files, or at least recover my hard drive space that seems to have dissappeared? I have used disk utility to repair permissions and such but it doesn't solve the problem.

Sent mail not appearing in icloud

I use my macbook air, iphone and my ipad to send mail from my @me.com account. But when i send an email from my macbook it does not appear in the sent mail folder on icloud. The iphone and ipad both work properly if i send mail from either device it appears in the icloud sent mail folder.
I've been trough the settings on my macbook and have the "Store sent messages on sever" option ticked, and the email accoutn is set up as an IMPA account but it still doesn't work.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Same here! Works on my iPad, iPhone and MacAir. But on my PowerMac the sent mail doesn't show up at all. I can't even find the messages I've tried to send so I can try retype them and resend on my iPhone.
Does your "sent" folder continually beach ball? Mine is non-stop beach balls. Like it's trying really hard to update the sent folder but ran into a Sysiphus stone.

AOL mail not appearing on macbook

If I log into AOL through Safari, I often find that I have emails at AOL.com that do not appear in my mail notices on my Macbook pro, but if I look at my ipod, they are always there. Is there some setting that I need to change on the laptop?

I had the same problem for the past few days. I'm using Hotmail and Gmail with Exchange Active Sync. I'm receiving e-mails with sender and subject but no text in the body of the e-mail.I'm from The Netherlands so i guess it's not a provider issue.
I tried deleting my account on my iPhone 4 and re-enter my settings. But still was getting empty e-mails. I shutdown my iPhone 4 completely and then i restarted it and now all my e-mail appear with text in the body of the e-mail.

Sent mail not appearing in Internet mail box

I have recently been using Mail on iMac and while I can receive and view all emails on it. But strange thing is that whatever I sent from Mail on the iMac, it just appeared on the Mail Sent box but do not appear on the internet version of email sent box or anywhere in the internet version. I do have an iPhone and the sent mail from the iMac Mail cannot be found too. However, receiptents do receive my emails anyway. It is frustrating and disappointed that this happened and unable to do work on my iMac in this way especially when I am travelling and away from my desk.
Currently I am using Yahoo! .sg mail with IMAP and has checked thoroughly, including the outgoing server. Did many delete and re-installing but this does not seem to work. Maybe there are some steps that I have overlooked, or improper installation, could somebody help?

I find that perhaps one message in ten is not saved to my sent folder. I am using .mac mail. I am storing sent messages on the server, draft messages locally.
It seems that some kind of timeout on port 143 prevents the message from being copied to the sent folder, although the message is actually sent.
This is clearly a bug. Even if there is a communication failure, the message should remain accessible somewhere, not drift off into the ether. It would be far preferable to risk sending twice by holding the outgoing message in drafts until the move to sent completes.

Mail - Yahoo IMAP sent mail not appearing

I've been trying to troubleshoot this without much success. I've an iphone and a MBP running Lion. I've several Yahoo and Gmail accounts, and they are all set up as IMAP accounts.
Receiving and viewing messages are fine. However, if I were to send an email using one of the Yahoo accounts via Mail on the MBP, it gets sent successfully, but that email does not appear within the 'server' sent mailbox, nor within my iPhone mail app. Gmail seems to work fine.
I've highlighted each relevant 'sent' mailbox on my mac and set it to 'Use this mailbox' within the Mailbox menu, but it has not made a difference.
Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Sending is done via SMTP. What happened here is that SMTP accepted the mails for sending (thus, the mail client put them in the sent folder). From that moment on, SMTP needs to actually deliver mails to the recipient(s). Until this has happened, mails stay in the mail queue of your mail server.
You did not mention if the mails got eventually delivered, so here is a list of some possible reasons for late delivery or non-delivery:
-Receiving mail server does not respond
-Connectivity issues
-amavisd not running
-Mail got flagged as spam (non-delivery). This would happen if you are trying to send mail from a blacklisted IP (like dynamic IPs) and your mail server is not configured to bypass spam scans for authenticated users.

Mail not appearing in notification center... Also, gears not appearing in the mail app.

I tried to configure my mac to enable it to receive mails in the notification center but cant. i have tried to send an email from other IDs but havent received any banner or alert while using my mac. i have checked the show alerts and banners in notification center. Do i have to keep the window of the mail app in a specific position to receive alerts in the notification centre? Also, the gears are not appearing in the mail app when i fetch for new mail. please help..

Notifications receives alerts from Reminders app, but not Mail.
I've set preferences in Mail for 'Inbox Only' and 'All Mailboxes', sent test mail from ISP webmail and Google (Mail is not setup to receive from this account) - still no notifications.
I had previously used Growl (v1.4) and GrowlMail very successfully (with 10.7), but while upgrading to Mountain Lion I was informed that GrowlMail was incompatible so I deleted it.
While testing this problem of not receiving Mail Notifications I have disabled Growl and rebooted.
Like others here:
Checked: Notifications setup
Checked: Mail setup
Rebuilt permissions
Rebooted
Any help would be very gratefully received.

Deleted Inbox Mail not found in Trash

After I have read email I delete them and expect they will appear in the Trash mail box. This is not happening. Is there a preference corruption that needs to me corrected? Version 10.3.9

No, but a preference adjustment needs to be made.
In Mail > Preferences > Accounts; Special Mailboxes; Trash there are choices about what happens when mail is moved to the Trash.
*Erase deleted messages when*; One day old will have them disappear from the Trash if they are one day old, younger than that and it will still be there in the Trash.

Events received in Mail not appearing in iCal

My fiancee is having some problems with iCal. When she receives an event it used to (and still does on my machine) appear in iCal automatically, whether she had read the email or not. Now, to get an event from Mail into iCal she has to open the attachment.
Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?

Is she receiving them as iCal event invitations from an iCal user?
If so, for me anyway, these do show up directly in iCal without opening them in Mail. And as you're aware, they are counted up with the little red number on the iCal icon down in the Dock.
Now when I get invitations for my iCal from OUTLOOK (non-iCal, basically) users, this never happens. I have to explicitly open the invite in Mail, double-click the icon to get it over into iCal, etc.
If you're talking about pure iCal-to-iCal invites, I agree, her system is not working as mine does or I would expect it to. Maybe take a look into iCal -> Preferences? --DG

Attachements on Mail not appearing correctly!

Attachjments in mail appear as winmail.dat files yet on yahoo mail via Safari they appear correctly as els files etc - any ideas?

Unfortunately not. Do you think its the way that the Windows user is attaching the files? Apparently they can send via program eg Excel or from Outlook.

Incoming mail not appearing in inbox on my macbook

Hi, Up until yesterday my mail was synching fine. Yesterday, all of sudden the incoming mail appears to be happening but the new messages are not in my inbox on my macbook. The messages are synching to my iPad.
I tried rebuilding mail; rebooting; also repairing permissions per the other messages in this area. Any other suggestions?
